What did you do with your wedding dress?

I got married in jeans but if I did have one I'd likely burn it along with my marriage certificate.0

Wore a black and white summer shirt dress to my courthouse wedding. I could still wear it to semi-formal occasions if the damned thing wasn't so big on me. It is currently in my closet, possibly in a dress bag.0

I still have them all, I was thinking of opening my own shop
But hearing about all the charities, I'm going to donate them. Here' s hoping they have better luck than I! :drinker:0 -
My wedding dress (as shown in my photo) is a black leather, strapless, corset !! It is/was a full figure 2x when I wore it I still have it! I got really heavy a few years later and couldn't wear it, but I kept it :smooched: . NOW that I've lost some weight I'd probably be able to fit in it again... BUT I'd like to loose enough weight that it's too big on me !:happy:0

Mine is in a tote that I take out and look at every so often. It was the first and only dress I tried on, it was love at first sight just like my husband. Im keeping both of them. White and red corset type. We plan on renewing our vows one day and I want to wear it again, hopefully make it smaller by then. I wore my dress for over 12hrs on our wedding day, I felt so beautiful. I still have my extra bouque that a friend made, my tiara and veil. Most of that I keep displaid with my wedding pictures and cake topper. But still looks the same after 5yrs only so hopefully it last till we renew our vows and dry cleaning. Then make it into something else special.0

Put it in a foodsaver bag my mom made it so I wont be getting rid of it. Hopefully ill have some use for it someday lol0

Hanging in my closet, we got married 3 months ago. Still has frosting on the inside of the top because it fell between my boobs when we face-smashed the cake, haha! No real plans for it, but it's sad to think I paid for it, I loved it, and I only got to wear it for a couple hours!0

Mine's hanging in the closest, it's been there for the past 14 months. Didn't get it cleaned, keep forgetting to
Mine was made by a dressmaker, it's a tea length 50s inspired dress, so I will be able to wear it again if I want, I've thought about dying it another colour. Loved my dress.0 -
Mine is still hanging in the closet after 22 years, 3 house moves & one flood. I keep saying that I'll make something from it, or use the fabric in a quilt. But when it comes down to it I just can't take the scissors to it.
I 'might' over dye it & wear it to the Whitby Goth weekend next year if I can fit into it by then. But I bet I chicken out from doing that too.:ohwell:0 -
Mine is sitting in the closet after nearly 8 years. Never bothered to get it cleaned after either. No idea what I will do with it. It was only about 300 dollars (yeah, 'only'.. some people go bananas and I was poor :x) so maybe one day I can make a costume out of it or something, though I think I weigh less than I did when I got married! xD0

I got married in Jamaica so I had a short simple dress...I got mine cleaned and kept it just in case there's every another opportunity I can wear it0
-
I gave it to my ex-wife.0
-
Sold mine on ebay and put it towards our Florida holiday next year.0

Mine burnt in a house fire, it was hand made by my mother and beautiful, but it's gone along with my ex. I am now a widow. And a new chapter began.
Should say my ex didn't die in the house fire, he ran his car into a rock cut DRUNK!!!0 -
I sold mine! I had mine made to measure in China..... cost me a whopping £98!! (It was amazing quality!) I sold it after my wedding for £180 haha!0
-
I borrowed mine. It didn't make sense to me why we should spend that much on a dress that was only going to be worn once.0
-
never had one. I'm married but never had a real wedding, just got married at the court with my son, best friend and my husband of course...0
-
I am keeping mine for my daughter, and it was my mother's dress.0
-
I got mine preserved and boxed which is stupid because I don't have a daughter so I'm not sure what I'm saving it for. I'm thinking I should sell it.0
-
I returned it.0

Mine is preserved in a box... We have two daughters and always thought one of them might like it. **They were in K and 3rd grade when we got marries.
It won't fit the youngest and it's a good 2 inches too short for the youngest one....
Not sure what to do with it. It's an extremely small sized dress for someone with long legs... not easy to sell!
Beautiful basque waist, strapless with really pretty design on it.0 -
Mine is in a closet, have hung onto it in case my daughter wanted it but now my marriage is over I don't think she will. When I was younger I wished my mum had kept hers not that I would ever have fitted it LOL. I don't see the point in dragging it from house to house any more. I just need to decided whether to donate it or sell it.0
-
Gave it away0
-
I've seen people frame them.
But I think donating it or something is a cool idea if you're not attached to it. Or you could always sell it, and donate the money.0 -
Mine is put away in a memory box. It was just a cute midnight blue maternity dress. Shotgun wedding LOL!!!!0
-
While I was married, I kept it stored nicely in the closet. But, really had no idea of what else to do with it.
After my divorce, I burnt it.....KIDDING. I gave it to Goodwill.0 -
I eloped.. so I don't have this dilemma lol0
-
You can donate it to the salvation army0

1st Marriage I wore my Mom's dress (i had it preserved)
I still have it
2nd Marriage I bought a new one (I had it preserved) I still have it
I didn't have the heart to get rid of my Mom's dress. Hubby did not have kids so I had two more.
My little girl (who shares my Mom's middle name) wants to wear my Mom's dress when she gets married. I told her really that is not the dress I wore to marry your Dad. Mommy your dress is okay but I want to wear the dress you wore and Grandma wore. My Mom joked around with her and told her she can make a vail out of my dress. What can I say my daughter loves her Grandma and the dress is already 60 years old so it will be at least 75 years old minimal when she gets to wear it0 -
I took my wedding dress out of the garment bag yesterday for the first time in 8 years and tried it in. It sure is beautiful. And absolutely ENORMOUS on me. It makes me sad that I was so fat for my wedding, all the pictures are bad.
I don't know what to do with it, should I just hang onto it forever? I forget who the comedian was who came out on stage wearing her wedding dress. She paused while the audience laughed and said "Well, I paid $2000 for this dress, I'll be damned if I only get to wear it once".
That's the way I felt when I tried my dress on. Now I want to wear it to work or something.0
