checking in for tonight 3/15/10:
calories- under by 75
water- yes
sodium- 1825
excercise- c25k w5d1...I DID IT AND I WAS AWESOME (if I do say so myself):drinker: You are all right, its totally mental, I prepared for it mentally all day and there was no way I was not going to do it
proud- that I did w5 and I didnt even feel like dying
positively_me- I am also one that likes to sit and eat in front of the tv. I have two methods that have helped me. 1. I chug chug chug lots of water. Trust me on this. Get a 16oz bottle of water and have it permanently attached to your hand. Anytime you feel hungry just drink it, yes the entire bottle. Im usually so stuffed afterwards I cant think of eating anything. 2. I plan my day AROUND an evening snack. Survivor and Biggest Loser are my two favorite shows and I like to have a snack while I watch them. Knowing they are on that day I eat smaller portions and consume fewer calories throughout the day so that I can eat my snack during my show at night. Usually I have a weight watchers ice cream sundae or a piece of fruit.
I hope that helps, but seriously try the water trick it works!! I actually crave water now
Good night everyone,
Cris0 -
Stopping back to check in!
Calories - Good (I ate about half my exercise calories)
Water - still working on it but I plan on getting it in well before bedtime!
Exercise - I walked at lunch for 45 minutes at a pretty fast pace!
Proud - I'm oddly proud that I didn't go to the gym this morning after only a few hours sleep. I think deciding to get more sleep and missing my Spinning class was the best choice! I'm also proud that I walked today and that I got my crunches and push-ups in tonight!
(not so proud about my loser push-up technique! I am horrible at them!)
LilDebbie - I started jogging a little yesterday and OMG did my calves hurt in my new shoes - I'm guessing your shoes can impact how much you use different muscles? My husband has some kind of condition where his calves tighten up and burn when he first starts walking and he has to keep stopping to stretch them out - his doctor said there's some kind of medication that is just for this 'condition' but Ken never checked it out...
The tilapia was wonderful!!! YUM! Our housemate is "Raiding" in her favorite online game (WoW - World of Warcraft) so she's not available to toast marshmallows for dessert. I could toast one myself but I've always been all "oh gosh... since you MADE me one it would be RUDE not to eat it!" I'm eating an apple instead (oddly it will have more calories!)
Talk to you tomorrow!0 -

Check in :
Calories - under
Exercise - 15 min walking
Water - 32 oz (a lot more than i have been doing)
Proud - That i jumped back on the wagon today...getting better on my water today.
My little one is sick the ENT wants to put tubes in her ears, i am a little nervous on how much this is going to cost . Stupid rent house took a lot of our extra money and don't really have any savings and really upsetting me. Hoping something works out, i know she needs them and hoping they will make her not so sick. She didn't qualify for speech therapy., hopefully with tubes that may help her some.
Found out today there may be good chance that we are getting our puppy on wednesday. He is 6 wks old. If he gets the vet approval he will come home ..we can't wait.0 -
checking in
Calories: under, only because I have so many today. Thanks to those bike rides.
water: getting there I still need more but I plan to have some with my sugar free pudding dessert
exercise: YES
I am proud that I stayed within my cals today and that I made good choices.0 -
update: just got the rest of my water in.0

Well I figured I would drop in and say good morning to everybody since I wasn't around much yesterday. Going to have to go back and read all the posts and catch up and do my check in for yesterday! Still not seeing the scale move but trying to not let it frustrate me. I bought some new running shoes this weekend. Got up at 5:00 this morning to go to the gym and break them in. I don't know if it's the new shoes or if I'm still sore from all my working out this weekend but my legs are KILLING me!! But I pushed through it and did w2d1 of c25k and 15 minutes on the bike. On a side note the guy I've been dating came by last night and told me I looked skinnier (I haven't talked to him about my concerns that I haven't lost weight) and that I needed to eat a donut. As stupid as it is it made me feel a little bit better. But no donuts here!! Hope everyone has a good morning. Will catch up at work, I mean what else is work meant for but to catch on my MFP friends!? :laugh:0
-
Thanks girls...i really needed that "pick me up!" I could count on all my friends to be here for support and motivation
The day (yesterday) was ok with me, and I drank some water in place of not eating at night...savored every bit of the apple...then another apple...and then a small navel orange. I drank more water, and i stayed on that
My calores for the day was up by 100 calories...not much but i will walk today since the sun is shining at it's going to be around 60 degrees...finally the rain is out of here and i feel better today. I am still on 1200 calories and if i exercise, that day, eat some of those.i.i will try that because if i eat more than 1200 calories i see a gain on the scale...however, i have not weight myself since friday (2 weeks ago) I fogot this past friday...i am so scared of what the scale displays... so i will be avoiding it until weigh in day.
check in (3/15/10)
calories: up by 100 calories
exercise: if cleaning my home including the basement is consider exercise...that is what i did
water: i think i drank 8 cups...but i need to drink more
proud: i ate fruits, in the evening, and not junk food...slowly working not eating past 6pm..because i know all this evening eating creates a gain on the scale..no matter what i eat..or drink
I am also proud that i came to my friends ( on this thread) for help, support and a place to vent instead of eating my frustration....
evening snacking: yup, but fruits..i am still working on it..it takes time
Have a great day girls! I will be back later...little one wants to eat breakfast...0 -
Good morning, ladies!
Cris: Way to rock the C25K! You're unstoppable!
Checking in for yesterday:
Calories: 338 left over (exercise calories)
Sodium: Under by 533!
Water: 32 oz.
Exercise: 1.5 hour walk with the boyfriend, burned 430 calories and enjoyed the lovely evening.
Proud: That I stayed under my sodium for the day AND didn't have the snack I wanted after the walk.
All in all, I feel pretty good today. I'm down two pounds from yesterday (still 1.5 lbs. of re-gained weight to ditch) and feel good. It's amazing what eating healthy and exercising can do for the energy level in ONE day!
Tonight I have a meeting, so will be eating something convenient. I'm going to have Subway, but shouldn't go over my sodium by much because I've already planned out all of my food for the day. I also get to have Caribou tonight, which I've planned out as well and should still have a deficit for the day as far as calories go.
Have a great day!

03.15.10
Calories: 1387
Exercise: Ermmmm... best friend sabotage.
Water: 100oz+
Proud: My best friend stayed an extra day and sabotaged my workout, but at least I didn't let her sabotage my dinner. We were having chicken breast, roasted asparagus, and roasted potatoes whether she liked it or not (and she liked it ). And no matter how much I didn't want to, I let 2 coupons for a free doughnut at Krispy Kreme expire as of midnight last night. Whew! :laugh:0 -
I am still here although just not enough time in the day to keep checking in here like I use to. Spring weather here makes me spend more time outside and less on the computer!
Well, I am heading to work.. LOTS going on right now (as usual)0 -
Hello All,
I was not around yesterday, crazy work day.......
Just read a a few of the most recent posts.
Awestfall, it's good to see you back in full force, kicking but and dropping pounds! :drinker:

Jess- yay! on the comment from your guy. Even without the scale moving you are obviously losing inches...speaking of which..arhem have you taken your measurments?
heather- I love ya! Thanks for always pumping me up! You and the other girls are my biggest cheerleaders, couldnt do it without you all.
jlb- OMG When I read Krispie Cream Donut I drooled a little  Your dinner sounds yummy got any left overs you can send my way?

Cris - great job on the running, maybe your body just needed a rest?? :drinker:
Meook- thanks! My body absolutely needed a break! I knew I was overly tired but I felt I'd be quitting if I took time off. :grumble: it got to the point where I was so tired I physically coudlnt excercise....:embarassed: a few days off and I feel awesome! LISTEN TO YOUR BODIES LADIES! IT KNOWS WHEN YOU NEED A BREAK! And take it from me, it does not mean ur quitting, you are just going to come back stronger!:flowerforyou:
Oh another thing I wanted to share! I peeked on the scale (Hi my name is Cris and Im a scale aholic) and it said 222.2 this morning! I was sooo excited! I can not wait to be in the teens! Maybe by next week!?0 -

Awesome job Cris, I'm so happy for you!!:drinker: :flowerforyou:
I know what you mean about feeling like a quitter. If I miss one day of the shred I think I am failing but you are inspiring me and proving that there are no prizes for exercising every day and wearing your body into the ground.0 -
Cris-I have taken my measurements. LOL I actually took them on a quite regular basis. I'm a scale and measurment alcoholic unfortunately! I need to quit. There is no maybe you will be in the teens next week. I just know it!
No worries I'm resisting the donuts. I didn't want one until he said something. Luckily my favorite donut place closed down. It's a sign!
Way to resist donuts as well JLB!0 -
You guys are so motivating. Any time I feel discouraged I just come on here and read how other girls like me are doing it. and if they can I surely can. Thanks. I decided on a big breakfast this morning. some egg and mushrooms, spinach, onions mmmmm it was good. I am so full I may need to be rolled out of here. My son and I are getting ready to go on our walk . He needs the exercise he is sooooooooooooooooo hyper. My girls were so mello physically but they make up for it in the drama department.
cogirl, so glad to see you. I was wondering about ya so I was happy to see you here this morning.
jess, congrats on having your guy notice without having to bring it to his attention. That really says something cause men don't notice much.
cris congrats on all the running you are inspiring me to want to try this c25k.
meokk, good job getting back on track//
jlb, one day of no exercise is just fine you are doing so good as it is.
Hope everyone has a great day!!!!!0 -
Cris, great job! You're totally just melting.
And, please god, GET ME OUT OF THE TEENS!! I have been here forEVER! Still sitting stuck at 210.0 today. I may actually fall over dead in surprise if I ever see 2-0-something. I dove head first into the teens at 218.4 on 01/30 (down 2 pounds from 220.4 on 01/29) and I'VE BEEN THERE EVER SINCE. I don't mind slower weight loss -- I can handle it, really. 10 pounds in 6.5 weeks isn't so bad. Just, seriously, give me a 20- something. For sanity's sake.
No exaggeration, I'm seriously thinking about calling out of work (at the crap pizza delivery job -- not my real job ) just to workout tonight since I missed last night. I want to freaking run, not give pizza a ride all over town. :laugh:0 -

I have no idea how you deliver pizza...pizza is like my FAVORITE thing on the planet. I would def be fired for eating the orders:laugh:
You will be out of the teens soon! You never cease to amaze me! I bet you by Friday's weigh in you will be at like 208!!!0 -
Momma- I AM SO JEALOUS YOU ARE GOING FOR A WALK!!! ITS SUPER NICE OUT HERE TODAY AND IM STUCK AT MY DESK JOB!!!!:explode: :grumble:
You should try c25k, jlb inspired me to do it and trust me if I can run you can run. I was almost suspended in HS for cheating on our mile run...Id wait until I was the last person and just turn around where I was and head back ...hehe I hate running, heck I even hated walking back then!:noway:0 -
Cris: Cheating on the mile run? I LOVE it. Even though I was a thin, active kid, I always "power walked" it and usually ended up finishing in the middle of the pack, so they couldn't convince me to go any faster. Now a mile run seems pretty minor. Oh, and you will be in the 2-teens this week, you scaleaholic!
Meokk: No, I'm not eating a caribou, though I just may have to try some at Cabela's sometime. I'm going to Caribou Coffee tonight but don't worry, my coffee choice is 160 calories.
Jlb: I love the new pic...just look at that hourglass figure emerging!
So I'm bored again here at work and just want to be done for the day. I'm actually craving my sodium filled Subway sandwich that I'm planning for dinner.
I also recalculated my daily calories because the second I dropped them, I started gaining weight again. So, I'm putting them back where they were when I was losing consistently to see if it helps. Granted, it's only about 200 calories but for some reason it seems to make a big difference.
Anywho, I should try to get something done. Blah...I'd rather be outside hiking!0 -

LOL:laugh:
Well you see...at our school we didnt have a track or anything, but there was a really long driveway leading up to the school. We by really long I mean .5 miles. So at gym we were supposed to run to the end of the driveway and back, making it a full mile. Well, one time I hid in the bushes at about halfway down (.25 miles) and waited for everyone else to get to the end and pass me on the way back, then i hopped out of the bushes and turned around, lol so I really only did .5 miles. Most of the time though Id walk really slow and when the last person passed me on the way back Id just turn at that point and head back. I think someone told on me cause I got in BIG trouble   :blushing:
Now I seriously wish I could be outside running that mile, its soooo nice out!0 -

Lately I've been thinking that even my new calorie level is too low for me. I know it's not *really* all "calories in vs calories out" exact math & all but, my calorie deficit is so big each week that I should really be losing more than 1-1.5 pounds a week. And this week I've essentially lost nothing so far and even though I haven't worked out as much as I normally would've and I've made some choices that weren't as good as usual, I should have definitely lost more than 0.2 pounds. And maybe I have and maybe water retention is masking it, but... it's just funny that I started eating more, and 2 weeks after lost a good bit of weight, then I lost a little less the next week, then a little less the next and then it seems I could be stalling *again.* Now I need to be sure my expectations are in check, but I do feel that since I do have at least 50 pounds more to lose I should be able to lose 1.5-2 pounds a week pretty easily still. I wonder if I should take my MFP goals to 1.5 pounds a week and then eat 50% of my exercise calories on top of that -- that way I should still be creating a big enough deficit to lose about 2lbs/week with the other 50% of my exercise calories.
It's almost a little too easy to convince myself that I need to increase my calories.
But why not? I've got nothing to lose. Okay, I've got a lot to lose, but that's the point. I think I'll just see how it goes.0 -
Jib - I hope you see a 20? soon!!!!
Cris - HOping you see 21? soon too !!!!!
I am doing good today, i am taking 1/2 day sick day today with my little one. I was able to work this morning she slept from 7:30 - 12:30, so i was able to work , then she woke up feeling bad, gave her some motrin now she is jumping all around, stil saying she feels bad, so i just took the afternoon off...technically hubby will be home at 3:30 but she wants to come in my office every 3 minutes.
I hope she feels better soon, she so sad when says "me don't feel good"...jsut breaks your heart. HOpefully she will feel better before tomorrow.
I usually go walking at lunch but not today, was thinking of taking her in the stroller but she doesn't feel good and really needs to rest in the house.0 -
checking in for yesterday ... even though I don't want to
calories: over by about 1400 ... mostly due to an old bad habit of eating cheese while making dinner
exercise: 20 minute walk
proud: that I did the 20 minute walk ... what a beautiful spring day yesterday
water: not so hot ... probably 48 oz.?
I'm having a bad day ... not happy about my eating yesterday, and this morning at step I hurt my lower back. I felt it when doing squats after about 20 minutes of the class, but I thought it was just normal muscle soreness so I ignored it and kept doing the step class.... now as the day is going on my back hurts more and more. I'm hoping it might be PMS as it's that time, but I'm worried that it is more than that and I may not be able to exercise the next few days. I had planned on going to an extra turbo kick class for tomorrow night that I was really looking forward to so I'm bummed.
So I'm crabby to be sitting here at work all hunched over and uncomfortable (although when I have to get up and walk it's worse) ... and one of my extremely irritating co-workers keeps asking me to help him with his problems before he has tried to solve them himself (and he is a senior programmer!), I finally had to tell him that I didn't have time to look at his problems until he had spent some time on them first and to come back to me if he was still stuck after awhile. Aaargh! :explode:
At least I just threw away 1/3rd of my taco salad because I was full .... that's something I guess.0 -
Hello gals!
This is another extreamly busy week were I am hardly home, thus making it impossible to post in my food diary during the day and then fall into bed at night. You might have noticed that I haven't been posting my calories and exercise each day but I want to do what I have learned and not be so dependant on this group. I am only a little over half way to my goal but I so want this to be a lifestyle change that I have wrapped my head around. In the past several months I have learned so much from all of you. It will be interesting to see how I do. My eating is successful due to smaller portion sizes. We are skiing a lot this week since it is Spring Break, and yesterday I skiied from 9:30-4:30 only stopped for lunch. That is huge for me!
Keep up the good work girls. Smaller pant sizes for several of you, and stronger endurance for you runners, and to all the small changes that add up to a healthier you.0 -
WOW!!!!!!! Snowflakes, that is some skiing. How nice it is to realize that we are able to do so much more than we use to. I agree with you on starting to become more dependent upon our selves. This is a life style change and we need to know how to do it on our own. Good for you
lildeb, sorry about the little one being sick. Hopefully the tubes will help her to be sick less.
lstpaul, take care of your back. I would rather see you miss a day or 2 of exercise then a month because you have hurt your self too badly. Good job on throwing that taco salad away when you were satisfied.
cris and heather, my 13 yo is a little nut. If I would not have brought home the biggest baby girl in the nursery I would think they sent home the wrong baby.(she is so petite now ) She loves to run the mile and she usually has the best time in the class. Her and some boy run together and they are pretty close on time. When she plays soccer all the dads come up to her and say wow you are faster than the ball. She thinks running and running fast is simply amazing. That is probably why she weighs 91 pounds. lol.0 -
why is it when kids are sick they want to do anything but just lay down and rest and when i am sick all i want to do is tay in bed and never get out.
I ended up taking a walk with abby. I wore my crocs today and my ankles still hurt but not as bad, that is odd.
I wlaked just a tad shorter , i took one street sooner back, it was getting chilly and i didn't want her out there any more. I am proud that I did that though...
She is laying on the couch now just laying here wanting me to pet her...how funny...hope she is good to go back to day care tomorrow.0 -
Hello!
I failed AGAIN to get up on time this morning:grumble: - I had a pretty good nights sleep but it was chilly in the room and the bed was sooooo comfy... and I *sigh* snuggled down in for an extra hour's sleep. I sure hope I'm just adjusting to the time change and that I get some control over this! :explode:
I did, however, make myself get up and go to the gym and run my day 2 of the 5K101 - and I got through it! On the third two minute jog I tried picking up the pace a little and realized pretty fast that wasn't a great idea:ohwell: I'm so happy I was able to do it at all! I stretched out afterwards and it was 8am and the gym is still an hour away from work. I still managed to shower, change and get to work by about 9:20! I put my makeup on in the restroom at the office and I'm not sure anyone noticed my coming in when I did. We have a working start and stop times from 7-9:30 ish until 4-6:30 ish... I also managed to get out for a fast 45 minute walk at lunch!
Unfortunately I also managed to get talked into going out for lunch and I ate a little too much sushi! My bill was $37!!!!!!! And that was with my ordering water! YIKES! But omg it was amazing! I had Yellow Tail tuna, scallops, a sushi roll with soft shelled crab, and an Alaska roll - SO WORTH THE CALORIES! I tried not to eat all the rice in the rolls, and the tuna and scallops were ordered sashimi (no rice). That $37 should have gone to my gym bag  Oh the pain of diners regret!:brokenheart:
LilDebbie- Congrats on getting out and walking! I bet the fresh air helped your little girl!
ColoradoGirl - glad to hear you're doing OK - make sure you take care of YOU!
lstPaul - try icing your back tonight and take some ibuprofen to help reduce the inflammation - I'd rest a few days now to give it some time to heal I think moving around is a good idea to keep the area from getting too stiff, but I wouldn't to anything vigorous! Pamper your self a little!
SnowFlakes - WOW I am impressed at your ski time! Awesome! My sister has a ski-in ski-out home in Tahoe and maybe by next year I'll be in good enough shape to invite myself out for a ski weekend!
Chris, Jess, jlb123, and Heather - I am so excited to be doing the 5K program! I can't believe I'm able to do even the two minute jog!!! I'm having to force myself to take the day off in-between sessions!:noway:
Every one - I love you guys so much - I'm not ready to "test" to see if I can do this on my own- I'm here for the long haul LOL! My weekends away are test enough!:embarassed:0 -
Ok I am going to brag on myself for a bit.I ran for one hour today straight. It wasn't a sprint run or anything it was slow paced run but it was still running. Not sure how far I ran but I am going to at least guess 2 or 3 miles. And the reason I am bragging about it is because it was on my main road going up and down hills. This is a big deal for me .I am well on my way to getting back to my 8 miles of running a day.My husband is going to watch the girls this evening while I go back out this evening and run again for another hour or so.It feels great and I am so glad that there is more daylight during the day to be able to get out .The weather is in the 50's so that makes it nice.Ok I am done bragging.0
-
Also just out of curiousity I want to know who eats there exercise calories and who doesn't.I am just comparing weight loss with those who do and those who don't.I find that I lose better if I don't eat mine.My doctor told me not to eat them anyways .So I am just curious how many of you do and how many don't and what your opinion of the subject is.0
