Is it bad when you hit the "Complete This Entry" button and it reads "If every day were like today, you'd be in big trouble."?????
If so, read on...

cals: OVER. Who knew fried chicken wings would take you over the limit so fast???? I had to do the fried chicken dance a million times to get the cals to ten under my limit!
water: great
exercise: dancing with my students - the show is OVER!!! PTL.
proud: my show was a great success and it is finally over!!!!
I am VERY scared about tomorrow's weigh in, but I will hold myself accountable for the mistakes I made and learn from them! Like for instance, say "pass" on the fried chicken wings. :explode: And don't eat an entire bag of Goldfish in one sitting. :noway: And how about, when your sodium already reads over by 2K you really shouldn't go for the entire bag of microwave popcorn. :ohwell:
Oh mighty Weightina, Princess of Scales, be good to your sister tomorrow!!!!!! :sad:0 -
I am not sure if i lost weight or not, for like the last month sincei haven't been to my lowest i hadn't been recording it. SO i changed that today., i am thinking i was about the same last week...So today i was down to 284.5, so i went ahead and recorded it and go from there . I did take all my measurements , and really no change since 1/1 that was a little dissapointing , but i am going to change that...and next month (which a month from yesterday is my bday ) i am determined to seem some inches and pounds gone.0
-
lildebbie-Good job on taking your measurements and recording your weight. If you stick to it you will most definitely see those pounds and inches start to move before your birthday!
bluenote-Congrats on the show being finished and it going well!! The chicken wing dance made me laugh, thanks! I'm crossing my fingers that you see a change in your numbers on today's weigh in.
I've noticed several people on here the passed week or two have had a couple of "bad" days and I was thinking....we are all in this for a lifestyle change and to lose weight and be more healthy. I think allowing yourself to have a "bad" day from time to time is what it's all about. It's a lifestyle change and we're not going to deprive ourselves of the things that we love forever. We aren't trying some crash course diet to drop a bunch of weight in one setting. We just learn how to eat in moderation. So I just wanted to say that I think everybody is doing a fantastic job!!
Happy Friday and Happy weigh in ladies!! I'll be back later after I weigh myself at work!0 -
Good Morning groupies! lol
So today is weight day and i am probably the first to report i GAIN weight this week. I am up 2 pounds on the scale and i have no idea why...i exercise 45 minutes a day...and this week i started eating half of my exercise calories..i know for sure my calorie intake didn't go over 1600 calories, btu i am not sure what could have caused a weight gain...i am not going to let it bother me..i am just going to see what i am doing...am i logging everything down...i am going to be more aware of my actions..because sometimes i'll be doing more than one thing, at a time, and i don't relize that i have done _________. So i probably made some mindless eating choices ( hypothetically speaking)...not sure what it is yet..ugh!

Pos -- you often gain weight if you start eating more calories suddenly. Give your body a month (yes a month) to adjust.
That being said, I'm in that same boat.
I'm up from 210.2 to 210.6 today.
I know it's not fat and I've got quite a plethora of reasons for the gain. Want to hear them? No? Too bad! The reasons are 1. I ate salsa chicken last night for dinner -- low sodium salsa and low sodium taco seasoning still equal really high sodium levels 2. as mstahl so delicately puts it -- poop weight. :indifferent: I'd be concerned if I was in any discomfort. Suffice it to say my body has VERY efficiently processed the food I've eaten this week. 3. I increased my calories this week & didn't really do it gradually so my body is adjusting to that 4. I didn't exercise even close to as much as usual 5. I ate food from restaurants 3 times. 6. 3 pints of beer on Sunday. 7. Ovulation -- yep I'm one of the lucky ones that retains water duing ovulation, pms, AND mensturation. Hooray! I mean, come on, when I look at it rationally, if I HADN'T gained weight this week, I would've had to be concerned!
Our bodies are really great at adapting to what we're doing, which is fan-freaking-tastic for survival, but works really hard against us we're trying to lose weight. That's why the whole "it's calories in vs calories out" thing is... well, it's not so accurate. :ohwell: But the good news is that we can trick our bodies and often when we treat our bodies right (by feeding it well and exercising), it'll do what we want it to do.

I finally lost 1.6 pounds! YAY!! I think I almost cried! I have .4 pounds to go and I will have lost 40 pounds since I started this journey! I'm going to Oklahoma this weekend to see my cousin. I'm not too worried about gaining any weight. She is the one who has cheered me on through my whole process and is ALWAYS seeing what I'm eating and what not. She even bought me MGD 64 so I don't have to drink real heavy beer! I think I did my calculation right...its been so long since I got to do one.

Good morning!
Last night I was sitting around playing with my new Blackberry and reading Fitness magazine when I had this sudden feeling of guilt over being a few calories over my allowance. So, at 10:30pm, I decided to head to my basement and spend a little time with Jillian Michaels, doing Level 1 of 30 Day Shred. Keep in mind that this particular workout used to KILL me and burn about 400-450 calories in the 20 minutes. Last night, I didn't even break a sweat (though I was putting full effort into every move) and it only burned 260 calories. I think this says a lot about my progress where fitness is concerned. Crazy, right? But at least I burned off all of the extra calories I had eaten!
This morning, I was up 2 lbs. on the scale but I'm going to pretend I'm packing on muscle. At least I think I'm losing more inches again. That being said, I have 0% weight loss again this week, but I'm not worried because I know I did all of the right things this week. Now, I just need to get through the weekend so I have positive results on the final day of the Weight Loss Challenge on Monday.
Checking in for yesterday:
Calories: 275 left over
Sodium: Over by 735 (still better than before!)
Water: 40 oz.
Exercise: Level 1, 30 Day Shred and Slim and Limber stretching.
Proud: That I worked out when I just wanted to be lazy!

Wow great things are happening this week!
The scales are evil! This week I added more fruit and veggies to daily meals and have had some hard workouts. The scale said I'm up 2.4 lbs. ugggh! And no change in my measurements. I know that I haven't eaten 7,000 calories extra for the 2 pounds. My thighs were really burning yesterday at the end of the day skiing, maybe the muscle is retaining some water??? Calories in vs. calories out didn't give me the results I expected this week.

Oh, two things on my mind
1. Last time I tried to lose weight I got stuck at 213lbs. I am excited about going into the teens, hopefully next week, but that number still haunts me!! I
2. C25K graduates- today I have my first 20 min run...were you able to do it on the first try or did you have to attempt it several times? Also should I just try the 20 mins and if I cant move on to w6d1? cause thats like a 5 min run 8 mins run 5 mins run which I think I can do more easily than a 20 min run....just asking for suggestions I guess!
Thanks!
Cris0 -
Cris, you're going to be able to do it.
I was able to do it on the first try. The whole time I just thought "holy crap.. I can't believe this is happening."
I had forgotten to mention that I took my measurements this morning. Everything was pretty much the same as it was exactly a month ago. Maybe half an inch off of my waist, hips, and each thigh but I'm going to take them again before I record it.
I've decided my weight loss has slowed down to give my brain time to catch up. Every time I see my reflection I do a double-take. My collar bones, my hip bones, my ribs -- These are things I've never seen before. I need time to process it. Thanks, body, for giving me time.0 -
Good morning everyone! I'm so pumped about this week, I hope I can continue seeing results! I've been changing up my cardio at the gym and they're getting new elipticals and bikes and they should be there today...I tried the arc trainer last time (Its almost like a cross between a stair stepper and an eliptical) MAN! I was sweating so hard and out of breath, and I burned more calories than on the eliptical!
Here's my check in for yesterday
Calories: on target
Water: Way over! Good for me!
Exercise: None
Proud: I planned all day what to eat at PF chang, down to the calories in the drink I ordered...I enjoyed my meal, didnt over eat and best of all didnt snack all evening! I CAN do this!
And way to go everyone on the weigh in. Even if you gain, think about all the weight you'll lose in a few days..dont know about you but on my weigh ins when they're high I usualy plummet the next day or so.
Cris, you go, girl! 3.4 pounds? Wow!
LittleSpy, you're still doing great and yeah, totaly, 0.4 is totaly water, but I know you'll get rid of it soon, because you're awesome.
Jess: Congratulations! Actualy, today I hit my 40 pound mark since a year ago january when I started taking my weight seriously.
Heather: I need to pull out the old shred and see my own progress. I remember in december my shins started hurting too bad for me to continue on it. but I feel so much better now...might be time to try again. congrats on burning off some calories!
Snowflakes: Dont get discouraged, muscles retain water when they have been worked out alot/hard. I know when I push myself on gym days I usualy retain alot of water, reguardless of how much salt i've eaten in a day.

If you *absolutely can't* run anymore after a certain point, walk for a minute & catch your breath & then start running again. Those interavals are so the key to fast improvement in your stamina.
And don't get me wrong -- I was completely dying through those 8 minute runs, too. But when I wanted to quit, I just kept running, Slow it down, and keep running. "Unless you puke, faint, or die, keep going!!" - Jillian Michaels
Edit: OH and to actually answer your question...
T'were me, I'd have to complete the 20 minute run before moving on. A) more motivation to get 'er done this time and That's just... um.. how I felt about it personally.
I honestly think you'd be fine moving on whether or not you were able to complete it though.0 -

What a steal, Momma!
I think I may actually break the 210 barrier tomorrow. TMI for sure, but I am peeing WAY more than I'm drinking. It's boarderding on being a real problem! It's amazing I could be retaining so much water and not even really feel bloated.
To all the yogurt makers -- My first attempt failed. :frown: I made sure everything I was going to use was good and clean, then heated the milk, 2% organic, right over 180 degrees. I cooled the milk to like 115, I added about 4tbs room temp plain Fage yogurt (I'm thinking Fage just doesn't have as many active cultures as some other yogurts & that was the problem...?), I put a lid (not air tight...) on the plastic container, set it on a heating pad (on the lowest setting) and covered it with a towel. I waited 12 hours. And I still had milk this morning. So, yeah, obviously my good little bacteria didn't or couldnt do what they needed to do to turn my milk into yogurt. Don't know if they weren't really there in the first place, or maybe I killed them by adding them at 115 degrees.
Anything I should do differently other than use a different yogurt as a starter?
Can I try again with the same milk using different yogurt to pitch it this time (and heat it again & everything to kill any bad bacteria that may have found its way in) or should I just pour it out? I'm sure it's best to pour it out & start fresh, but... I'm *cheap.*
I don't usually fail in the kitchen. We even make our own beer sometimes (which, wow, we should really do this weekend ). So this was irritating to me, but I'm going to try again.0 -
Cris: Way to go on your loss this week. You're becoming a machine! As for the C25K, I was only able to run 16 of the 20 minutes the first time, walked for about two minutes, then ran five minutes. I got it done the first time on the second attempt, then moved on. You'll probably be able to do it the first time, though, because my first 20 attempt was outside when I was used to doing it all on the treadmill. Just remember that most of it's mental, so get yourself in the right frame of mind beforehand and you'll rock!0

Oh how i envy you doing the runs, i want to run i really really do, my body just doesn't want me to
I have been walking a mile a day or so, i know when i get smaller I will be able to , just hard on my knees and ankles to lug around 285 lbs
But am proud even though my ankles, calfs and knees hurt I am stil out there trying to do something.
I will get there..I am in a mind set i am back in this to win it
On topic of summer clothes, i desperaetly needs some for my girls, the baby has like 5 summer shirts, she is good on shorts, the older one needs shorts but good on tops...uggg0 -

LilDeb- I dont know if you remember but my knees were hurting soooo badly when I first started c25k, my left knee specifically. I seriosuly thought I did serious damage to it and was about to make a doctor's appointment to get it checked out when I got sick. Being sick kept me in bed for almost a week and lo and behold when I ran again I had no knee pain and it didnt come back. Yes, it hurts when you first start but you will build endurance and your body will adjust. I think by walking you are already well on your way to making your knees stronger! Keep up the great work
jlb- yea I should have listened to you and just rested when my knees hurt but I didnt and my body took over and made me sick so I'd stop running
heather-I love how you have a lot more confidence in me than I do in myself. You are right and I need to go mentally prepare myself. I think I am so scared of the fact that I have to do this that I have a mental block about it. I probably would have quit lets say if I ran for 11 minutes then had to walk..I would have walked out of the gym right there. But you and jlb have both reminded me that its ok to walk then continue running...duh what a concept. I never would have thought of it that way! Thanks gals!0 -
Cris - Thanks !!!
My knee has been giving me problems since the summer. Went and saw a doctor, he said it could be arthritis (thinking i am way too young to be having arthrits), they did xrays and nothing wrong, he told me i could go see a orth surgeon...I am not wanting to until i loose weight cause i just know they will say you need to loose a lot of weight.
FUnny when I walk it isn't my knee that hurts as bad as my ankles and calf, but the more i do it i am sure it will get better and the more i do it the more weight i can get off my joints i am sure it will be better0 -
