well they are full of sugar
    they are empty caleries
    they are pure JUNK

Is this even in English?! These things have over 50 different ingredients and I am pretty sure nothing in them is of nutritional value to our bodies. (That is a red flag right there—if there are more ingredients in your product than you can even pronounce, chances are it is not good for you! )

Kellogg’s claims they are “a good source of 7 essential vitamins and minerals”. That just makes me laugh out loud! Where are these hidden? Underneath the high fructose corn syrup, sugar, and vegetable oil? Please do not believe that you are getting anything other than a sugar rush from this product.

Here is the nutritional breakdown of one Pop-Tart. (not one pouch, but one tart!)

    Nutrition Facts

So again, all I see is sugar and sodium with a sprinkling of protein. Not exactly the breakfast of champions, is it?

Mine are already in the trash….how about yours?

200 calories, 14g's of sugar and 220 mg of sodium is hardly a lot or "loaded". I don't eat them for breakfast. There's nothing wrong with sugar or vegetable oil. What was your point again?

Anything over 5% per serving is considered a "good source" by the FDA so they're allowed to put that on the box. Nutrients are listed right there:

Mine are most certainly not in the trash:

To follow my ice cream hating topic: Why all the hate for Pop Tarts? I'd love to hear why I shouldn't be eating two a day. My diary's open.

I used to love pop tarts when I was younger. The strawberry ones with icing were my favorite. We would only get those occasionally. We just got them a little while ago, a few boxes, and they were still so good out of the toaster.

    Pop Tarts aren't the enemy.

    Nutella is the enemy.

I stopped having nutella after I tasted it and it tasted like actual fancy chocolate with hazelnuts. That is a good thing but it is not far from having the actual chocolate. I guess I would rather have the chocolate than a chocolate spread.

It's because toaster strudels are better.

My dad used to get these occasionally for himself. I had a few and can't really remember what I thought of them.

I can't believe some people like poptarts without the frosting. The crust and the frosting are my favorite parts.

they are yummy but I think I could eat the entire box and still be starving plus they are empty calories (and way too many to not even be filling) but I will admit that every fall I buy several boxes of Pumpkin Pie flavor.

They are one of my guilty pleasuers.

I use them as pure sugar. I prefer the Brown Sugar Cinnamon flavor.

The key is that I don't eat them that often and usually just before I'm going to be burning a lot of calories like on my long runs. I try to eat something nutriant-rich after the run.

They just don't taste good in the UK :( we really only have strawberry and chocolate ones, and they're very dry/ not moist like American ones! When I go on holiday to the US I must eat my own weight in pop tarts... hot fudge sundae flavour nommmmm. :)

Pop Tarts don't do a thing for me. Now homemade Nutella cookies right out of the oven with ice cold 100% whole milk will get me every time.

My theory about people who LOVE poptarts is that no one in their life made scrumptious flaky pie crust with numerous delicious fillings......I'd never waste 400 calories on 2 dry cardboard pies when I could have a slice of sweet/tart homemade cherry pie! Poptarts just don't measure up!

True. My dad loves pie but my mom rarely makes it so we never had it much growing up. Usually we had pie around holidays.

They're gross, IMO. I don't see where all the love is coming from.

If I'm going to pig out, I'm going to do it right. And that is with a bag of doritos, cheetos, or funnyons—the three basic parts of a frito-lay nutritional meal.

My daughter introduced me to the cookie dough flavor.

If I get fat again it's her fault.

LOL!!!! Thanks for the laugh ;) I have to admit though, there are some that are AMAZING...Like the Chocolate chip ones, or if you toast the Cherry ones...*drool*

Sugar makes you stupid: Study shows high-fructose diet sabotages learning, memory
    May 15, 2012 in Health

Attention, college students cramming between midterms and finals: Binging on soda and sweets for as little as six weeks may make you stupid.

High Fructose Corn Syrup - Recent Study Flawed. Get All The Facts On High Fructose Corn Syrup. - www.SweetSurprise.com

A new UCLA rat study is the first to show how a diet steadily high in fructose slows the brain, hampering memory and learning — and how omega-3 fatty acids can counteract the disruption. The peer-reviewed Journal of Physiology publishes the findings in its May 15 edition.

"Our findings illustrate that what you eat affects how you think," said Fernando Gomez-Pinilla, a professor of neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a professor of integrative biology and physiology in the UCLA College of Letters and Science. "Eating a high-fructose diet over the long term alters your brain's ability to learn and remember information. But adding omega-3 fatty acids to your meals can help minimize the damage."

While earlier research has revealed how fructose harms the body through its role in diabetes, obesity and fatty liver, this study is the first to uncover how the sweetener influences the brain.

The UCLA team zeroed in on high-fructose corn syrup, an inexpensive liquid six times sweeter than cane sugar, that is commonly added to processed foods, including soft drinks, condiments, applesauce and baby food. The average American consumes more than 40 pounds of high-fructose corn syrup per year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

"We're not talking about naturally occurring fructose in fruits, which also contain important antioxidants," explained Gomez-Pinilla, who is also a member of UCLA's Brain Research Institute and Brain Injury Research Center. "We're concerned about high-fructose corn syrup that is added to manufactured food products as a sweetener and preservative."

Gomez-Pinilla and study co-author Rahul Agrawal, a UCLA visiting postdoctoral fellow from India, studied two groups of rats that each consumed a fructose solution as drinking water for six weeks. The second group also received omega-3 fatty acids in the form of flaxseed oil and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which protects against damage to the synapses — the chemical connections between brain cells that enable memory and learning.

They are full of chemicals, GMO ingredients, and general crap. Why would you want to put that into your body when there are so many better things for you that are just as delicious and satisfying. I had some fresh organic berries this morning from a local farm that were better than any Pop-Tart could ever dream of being.
