    1. No Attacks or Insults and No Reciprocation

    a) Do not attack, mock, or otherwise insult others. You can respectfully disagree with the message or topic, but you cannot attack the messenger. This includes attacks against the user’s spelling or command of written English, or belittling a user for posting a duplicate topic.
    b) If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, you will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself or a friend is not an excuse! Do not take matters into your own hands – instead, use the Report Post link to report an attack and we will be happy to handle the situation for you.

If this is enforced properly, the OP will receive a warning or strike herself.

I agree. I think she became just as bad as everyone else when she decided to troll.

I was not trolling, but its funny how I post another topic thanking the positive people and all these negative comments are posted. Call it what you want but its so funny how this topic has 6pages and the majority of comments are still negative.

'cuz you pushed the "do not push" button....with yet another "mean people" thread after a bunch of really smart people told you that you could not lose 10Lbs of fat in a week.

Never push the "do not push" button...never

  • I think it is ridiculous how negative some people can be. You make a topic and people post the most negative comments. I realized that they are just not worth my time. I want to thank all the positive people who have sent me messages & friend request. I'm here for support and motivations. I know a lot of my pals on here can honestly say I also help motivate them also. To all the negative people on here they need to be blocked. It's one thing to give your advice, suggestions and opinion but posting negativity is worthless. I signed up for tracking and motivation not sarcasm and negativity. With that being said I'm happy/thankful for all the positive people I have become friends with during my time on MFP! :) Thank you guys!

Once again I thank the POSITIVE PEOPLE :)

Someone is trying to feel better about herself by associating her behavior with "positive people." A sort of positive troll for the powers of good.
    Grow up.

    This.

This is the thread with all the supposed "meanies" in it the OP is referring to since she conveniently deleted all her comments and original post in that thread and omitted the context of this rant post:

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/908905-10lbs-a-week

The problem with these forums is that people are used to the same crap being posted every day and eventually they get tired of answering the same questions in a polite and helpful manner so they start posting sarcastic/"negative" replies because they are bored of typing the same thing over and over again.

However, this doesn't make it right. MFP needs to come up with a solution such as a sticky thread that sits at the top of everywhere with something like FAQs but more in depth so it has links to the road map link everyone posts in 1200 calorie debates, links to threads/information on TDEE, eating back exercise calories, etc.
Either that or people who don't have anything constructive and helpful to add should stop posting at all because all it does is antagonise and discourage the OP.

I have literally seen people join these boards, make one post and before the thread is finished they have quit because of the negative reactions they get from people. Everyone is here to gain information to help them lose weight and everyone along the line gets misinformed and makes stupid decisions.

ah well, off to bed. What a waste of time these forums are...even Facebook was better than this and that's really saying something! Think i'll stick to being supportive to MFP friends only, seems to make more sense!

No.....A post thanking the positive people would be titled "THANK YOU POSITIVE PEOPLE ON MFP!!!" not "Negative MFP"

It clearly doesn't work positioned there because so many people ask the same questions. I actually meant more like under "Recent Posts" where people seem to gravitate towards to, particularly if they are lost and new to a website.

Well done on the sarcasm, very helpful and constructive.

I am well aware there is plenty of ****ty and nasty people all over the internet, I have been using forums for years. However, forums with recurring problems like this should do something about it because clearly they are not helping new members to be informed properly if they are always coming with the same questions.
A lot of the questions being asked are the exact same ones I had when I first arrived here.

I would also like to point out I am not agreeing with the way the OP has gone about things. In all honesty, it's pretty dreadful. I am merely here putting my two cents in whilst we are on the topic. She went completely the wrong route at getting help and/or expressing her upset over her previous post, but the underlying issue here is something I am interested in getting ironed out because it's the same crap with different new/old members every single time I come on here.

There is nothing constructive that can be obtained from this post. This was the OP asking for attention and getting it. There is also no way to completely solve nasty posts, because too many people do it and there aren't enough people working for MFP to sort through all reports and handle them correctly. The only way to solve this problem is to know what you're getting into by posting something on public internet forums and not crying about every little thing that people say.

I agree with you there is no way to completely solve it but it doesn't change the fact this is a problem on these boards every day and more could be done here to accommodate for that.
I also agree that people need to be aware when they post that they are putting themselves out there and do need to learn to accept criticisms and negative comments BUT on here it becomes something else entirely at times.

The reality is people are SUPER HARD on the internet. ...but let them get in front of your face, and those inflated egos shrivel. The interwebs have given idiots a pass to do and say what they are too afraid to do in say IRL pretty much since it's creation. Some of these people, I'm sure, started off **** talking people in AOL chat rooms, and have evolved to this - people who talk **** on internet forums. They must be so proud. I would put money down that some of the people that run their mouths on this site the most are nothing if not meek when having real world interactions with people. The reality is, there is no reason to be an *kitten*. All these people saying 'they're frustrated with responding to the same thing over and over again', etc, swear people don't have the ability to just not respond at all if something irritates or bothers them. There is absolutely a way to give some constructive advice, or to disagree with someone without completely alienating them. If the vast majority of your day is spent being an *kitten*, internet or not, you're a douche. It doesn't make you funny, or interesting, it makes you a douche. Period. But you're a much bigger douche if you wouldn't say to someone's face what you have no problem spewing at them here. That being said, people need to realize that other people are *kitten*. This is a fact of life. ...and if you choose to interact with them, you do so at your own risk. So, basically, no complaining. Just because there are people here who are ridiculous, doesn't mean there aren't people who are amazing, and motivating, supportive, and inspirational, so just focus on that. ...or you could think of things like this, MFP 'gangstas' are all named Benjamin.

"Benjamin is nobody's friend. ...if Benjamin were an ice cream flavor, he'd be pralines and ****."

    -Garth (Wayne's World)
