    Haven't read all responses but....Most of the time the guys who think like this..look like crap themselves and yet hold women up to a much higher standard...what a jerk!

    I was in Sam's Club once and my cart had probably 6 bags of chips in it (for my teens - I don't actually like chips usually) and some hot, young guy behind me said "you shouldn't eat those, you'll get fat". Blew my hair back. I just said "oh, they're for my husband and sons". The more I thought about it, the madder I got. The nerve. The moral to the story - there are a**holes everywhere -- and they SHOP!

    Size 8 is proper slim here in the good ol' U of K.

    I'm guessing size 8 relates to a 10 or 12 over here.

    Really, if you're going to work in a store that sells women's clothing, you should probably learn how to handle male customers who have no idea how women's sizing works. It's YOUR job to make HIM feel comfortable, not the other way around. I'm not saying it's okay for him to be rude. But if you've worked in retail for any amount of time, you know that it happens, and you ought to know how to deal with it. Righteous indignation is pretty much never an appropriate response.

    It's kind of funny that a lot of women assume that 90% of men even know what a size 8 is or even looks like. Forseriously.

    Considering that a Size 8 varies from store to store and manufacturer to manufacturer, then, yes - it is difficult to know what "size 8" is.

    as for the OP - if it were me, I probably would have said something similar to, "well, I haven't had any complaints" and left it at that.

    I had an ex tell me once that I was "only allowed to gain weight 2 or 3 times in our 'life together'" (referring to when I popped out his kids). Needless to say, that relationship didn't last.

    I was, and still am, out of his league looks-wise. He still calls to ask "how I'm doing". Douche-canoe.

    I work at a high-end athletic clothing store that caters to size 2-12. Most of the girls I work with are in the size 4-8 category, or Extra Small, Small, or Medium.

    Yesterday a man came in the store, looking for an outfit for his girlfriend. He was talking to one of my co-workers, who happens to be a size 8. The man was trying to decide what size to get his girlfriend, so my co-worker said "Is she anything like me?" to which he answered "No, she's smaller". Then she said to him "Well a 4 here is an Extra Small, a 6 here is a size Small, and an 8 is..." and before she could finish he cut her off with "Divorced". He said it in a completely serious tone and did not laugh. CAN YOU BELIEVE THE NERVE OF HIM? :mad:

    It got me thinking... If I were her what would I have done or said to him? In hindsight she said she wished she had said "Our company is all about encouraging people to live a happy, healthy life. Your comment is disrespectful towards women. A size 8 is a perfectly healthy size and I am very offended by your comment. You can either apologize to me as a size 8 woman, or leave my store immediately."

    Did his name start with a B and rhyme with slobby?
