The reason I asked was because my son and his wife were in Paris visiting their daughter and when he got home he sent me this email. Laurie is my daughter in law.

We got back late Tuesday night and returned to work on Wednesday.

The weird thing is that I checked email in Croatia on Friday and saw a little boy’s disappearance. He’s a friend of ours! Kaine (his Dad) has worked with Laurie for 10 years. We’ve had them over at our house and gone to parties with them. That’s very weird to happen while so far away. It’s a week later and they still haven’t found the boy. Laurie and I will visit with the family tomorrow.

I haven't talked with my son yet, but I can't even imagine what the parents are going through. So sad.

Hi Marie, so glad your tests came back as good news!! we are home for a day or so, truck work to be done, etc.
I am still on the Met. B plan, and although I will not weigh for a month or more, I can feel a slight decrease in the tightness of my old around the house pants.. yippee!! The cravings for carbs lessened.. it took more like 10 days than 4 though.. I was hanging on to my sweet tooth!! take care..
    Happy Birthday Neil!!

:flowerforyou: Marie, I found this in some papers I was sorting....it came from the Health Fair I went to last fall:

Top Ten Tips for Finding Hidden Salt

Food is usually too salty if...........

    1. It tastes salty or you can see the salt on it.

2 It comes in a can or a box.

3 It doesn't need refrigeration or stays fresh for a long time.

    4. The label says "instant" or "quick"

    5. It's processed meat like lunch meat, deli meat, hot dogs, ham, sausage

    6. It only needs a microwave for cooking.

    7. There's more than 400 mg of sodium per serving.

    8. Salt or sodium is listed in the first 10 ingredients.

    9. It has more than 10% of the daily sodium value per serving.

    10. You got it from a fast food restaurant.

    Hi everyone!
Thought I had better get back on the ball and make myself accountable. Sooo here I am!

Went on the 5 week trip and did not gain a thing but I had gained 6 pounds before I left.
That 4 weeks on the cruise ship was a challenge...the secret...just don't look at what is there. I found the pretzel bread rolls and that was all she wrote. Ate a lot of chicken and steamed vegies and kept my desserts to ice cream. We even took our protein drink several mornings. It really gets old when you are in such an alcohol, food consuming environment. But we made it and Vicki came back down 2 pounds.

I only read this page so I am not totally caught up.
    Happy birthday Niel!
Irene, I am so sorry you are not feeling very well, my prayers are with you!
Everyone else sounds busy as usual and I will look forward to playing catch up.

Hi everyone! I am a bit pooped after spending the day digging and planting, but loving it! We went out for dinner for Neil's birthday (32nd) with the family. I had grilled shrimp so that should be ok except for the potatoes and Caesar salad (no self control). For dessert I had banana cake and caramel in a shot glass so it was very tiny so could have been much worse. I think that is a great idea for a restaurant to serve wee deserts for people who are watching their intake but like a sweet to end the meal. They had about 6 or 7 things you could choose on the tiny menu.

Sandy -- It is our Irene that I have in my thoughts. I hope things are going well and she is able to update soon.

Marie -- So glad for good report from the Dr.

Sandi -- Nice to have you back safe and sound. How was the cruise and where did you cruise to?

Phoebe -- Good job on the diet.

I didn't keep notes and that is all I can remember, must be having a sugar high from my shooter!!

Neil really liked that birthday greeting from everyone. Thanks everyone.

Take care and keep smiling. Gayla

Hello Everyone. Sorry for my absence. Had a wonderful time in Texas. Had my right knee replaced on 5/11 and a tornado came down our street on 5/12. We are one of the lucky families. Minor damage. 7 out of 14 families are displaced for 3-6 months.
Pete's new truck was blown into my Jeep. We needed new roof shingles, siding, windows and garage door. Just waiting for the siding. Have not had the gumption to read all posts, but I will. God Bless All.

Irene, I hope whatever it is - that you will be okay.
that is a very good photo, it changed color, didn't it?

Hi Gayla, glad you are playing in the dirt, and loving it.. I only love it til it gets too hot, then I call all of the weeds 'wildflowers'..

marie, hope you are doing fine in tx.. is it burning up hot there?
I'm hanging in there, really, my appetite is down a bit. Did I tell you about the 'shakes' I bought..oh well, here it is again,
www.zoicbev.com. The shakes are 1-3 grams net carbs.. carbs minus fiber = net carbs. I don't know what your sodium limits are, but these were 160mg per 11 oz. for the Belgian Chocolate.
The cats are loving the heat.. they go in and out, unless we decide it is way too hot out there for them.
take care, we are heading back to work soon,

:flowerforyou: Sandi, it's good to hear from you.....Your trip sounds like it was fun but I agree about how hard it is to be in an environment where food and drink are the big features....we gave up most recreational eating and it would odd for us to be in such a setting....now that you're home I'm sure you'll get right back on track with healthy eating and exercising.....I hope you'll tell us about the fun things you did on your trip.

:flowerforyou: Gayla, I'm glad Neil enjoyed his birthday greetings and his birthday dinner......it sounds like you did pretty well at the restaurant

:flowerforyou: Marie, I'm glad you got a good report from the doctor.

:flowerforyou: Phoebe, I;m glad you are having success with your new diet.

:flowerforyou: Judy, it's good to hear from you again........glad to hear about your knee replacement and sorry to hear about your tornado......you're right that you were lucky compared to others

:flowerforyou: We are having cool, windy sunny weather here......ok for taking the dogs out but not much fun for working in the yard

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: we're still doing our yoga every morning....we have a great routine and get up early enough to have time for yoga before golf and line dance.

   time for sleep.:heart:

    Good Morning,

The MCCD benefit was a big success yesterday and seeing all the kids in wheelchairs having so much fun was worth all the hard work.

My daughter and her family will be here from Minnesota this evening, they will be staying until next Wednesday. They have plans for everyday, some including me. Tomorrow we will go to Six Flags Great America without their parents and will make a whole day of it. They basically came in for a wedding on Saturday which I am also going so it should be a busy week.:glasses:

Sandi, glad you had a good time on the cruise. It is one of those times that I might watch what I eat, but sitting by the pool having a tropical drink is my cup of tea. I also like the casino. :noway:

Irene, prayers are with you and good luck with the cat scan.

Gayla, glad Neil had a good birthday and liked our good wishes. Tell him we are proud of him and continue to maintain that even keel you are getting used too.

Marie, great news from the doctor, those walks with Sammie must be helping, plus the low salt diet.:drinker:

Phoebe, glad to hear from you, and hope you had some time at home before hitting the road again.

Judy, sorry about the tornado and the damage to your house. It sounds like you were spared some serious damage as some of your neighbors lost all of their house. Scary stuff those tornados, I am glad I never saw one in person. How is the knee doing? I think in time I will need a new knee but I am afraid of a long recovery time. I would love to be able to bowl and play tennis again, two things my knees won't let me do.

Barbie, you continue to amaze me with your schedule, you and Jake are the most focused people I know when it comes to exercise and good eating, oh wait I am sorry, I should include Jeffrey. The three of you could have commercials on TV explaining your new life styles.

Birdie, Barb, hope all is going well with you.

I hope I didn't miss anyone and if I did I am sorry. My brain doesn't like remembering things as well as it used too.

Busy week coming up, will try to check in as much as I can.

    Sandy

Sending hugs to all....newcomers...homecomers....those ill...those concerned and all the rest!

:flowerforyou: Birdie, congratulations to your daughter on her new house.....I still remember the excitement of my first house and the excitement of each house since then.......being a homeowner, especially when there have been challenges is such a blessing....she is so fortunate to have you for her mom.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, my journey to be so committed to fitness happened over time and was motivated by my desperation to lose weight....in the year and half that I've been on MFP I've gradually added more exercise and cut back on more sedentary pursuits.....I don't knit, crochet, and bead the way I used to.....now I use that time for exercise.....there was an old English Sheepdog with a brand new haircut at the dog park today......I followed her around a bit just to enjoy watching her because she was beautiful like Daisy.

:flowerforyou: Marie, it sounds like you have a great understanding of your new eating plan. Keep it up......the best eating plan is the one you'll stick to.

:flowerforyou: It was more springlike today....sunny and a bit warmer.....I'm still wearing a jacket when I go out but a lot of people are wearing shorts.

    Hi Everyone!

I am well and alive! We had some real rough weather here and I had to replace my garden and some landscaping due to flooding.. We lost a lot. But it could have been worse. I have been training hard! I think I am good to go for the triathlon. It is a week from Saturday. I am starting to get a little nervous!

We are fine and doing well. I will send more later. I have to get to the pool this morning as they are closing early today.

Great to see everyone back on line!

    Take care!

    Jeffrey
