Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred--Beginners

I received this for Christmas (it was something I'd asked for:smile: ) and I want to start it on Monday the 28th.

I know there are threads for this dvd but I was wondering if there are any others who are just beginning this?

    I bought it for my girlfriend as a gift. She has a hard time making to the gym with her schedule. I'm not sure when she'll be starting, but she's my only friend on here if you want to ask. I'm thinking about trying it myself.

    I bought it earlier this year and tried it once. I was sore for days! It's very challenging, but must be effective in the long run to elicit such soreness. I remember having a tough time getting through the whole thing. Since I am starting my whole weight loss journey today, I thought it would be a perfect beginning. It is definitely worth buying and trying.
  • I use this video 3 times a week and the rest of the week do other videos..it is very challenging! I love it. I feel like the blubber is falling off when i do these!

    :smile: Great. Do we all want to start next week?

    I'm going to be looking at the video this weekend and setting up my schedule for the workouts. I try to come here at least once a day (I'm temporarily unemployed and so I have the time! :laugh: AND I need the support and motivation to not start eating out of boredom, etc. :devil: )

    I've been posting on the other thread about the 30 day shred and have not started the video yet. I am planning to start it today. Glad someone started a new thread about this video. They seem to be so advanced in the video that I am getting lost for support. Since we are all starting it around the same time, I know we all can be great support to each other! Best of luck to you all shredders!!!!!

    OMG!! I have been totally underestimating this video. It's kinda tough. I was figuring a 20 minute video. ppphhh what a breeze. But on the contrary I had to pause a few times. Good thing I am taking a long first ten days. The real ten days start on the first lol.

    Hey Everyone!

    I ordered this dvd before xmas and still waiting on delivery :grumble: but should get here this week and plan on starting everything on the 1st Jan :flowerforyou: .

    This day 5 months (May 27th) I will be walking down the aisle :heart: and I am hoping to lose at least 30-40lbs :embarassed: :noway: .

    This thread will be great for me since we are all starting around the same time.

    I am dreading the DOMS though :sick: - I don't mind muscle pain as the saying goes "no pain, no gain" but with Jillian Michaels I KNOW it's gonna be a lot worse than normal workout pain :laugh: :laugh:

    I am interested in joining. I bought the dvd earlier in the year and started it but my mom pasted away in April and I am just getting myself back to exercising as of Dec. 10. I decided not to wait for the first of the year with all of the food for the holidays coming in. Lol I will start tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

    just a sugestion but....... could we take measurements and weigh in perhaps on the start of the first day of shredding as i think it would be interesting to see how it affects our body shapes?? so when is everyone starting, should we all start the same day and we can keep a daily log and just generaly moan about the aches and pains :)

    If it is ok with everyone else, I think that would be great because sometimes you lose inches even though the scale shows no change in your weight.

    I have a set day each week for weighing in but as for measuring - how often do you think we should measure?

    I gained 18 pounds since getting laid off, so I'm going to go and get this too, so I'm going to start it on Monday also, I'll keep you posted!!

    I usually weigh and measure myself once a week on Saturday. Some people measure once every two weeks or once every month.

    I really like the idea of measuring. I've not started that because my tape measure is always missing!:grumble:

    I'm going to print out the one at sparkpeople.com and keep it with my equipment.

    Ok, so I weighed this morning and took my measurements.

    sw for 30 day shred: 214
    waist: 37
    hips: 43.5
    bust: 43.5

    Now I am off to shred some pounds and inches :laugh: , lol

    OMG! This is tougher than I thought but I did it!:tongue:

    I'll take my measurements later before I shower--I think I might get in another (different) workout to counter the food from the last few days!:grumble:

    I put the last of the goodies in my son's truck last night with instructions to leave them at work! Just too tempting to have them around.

    I weighed in this morning and am a half pound over my pre-holiday weight! :mad: ARRGGHH! I SO did not want to gain!
    Oh well, back to it and it WILL come off.

    (Added incentive--my BFF is coming to visit in a few weeks :happy: and I want to look GOOD for him! He has to relocate in April and I want him to have a good picture of me for a change!

    (BTW--how many times a week are we doing this? It sounds like Jillian expects us to do this every day but aren't we supposed to do something in between to give our muscles a chance to recover? I'm still new at this so any input would be greatly appreciated!)

    Well shred buddies, lol, I done the first workout. It is tough:noway: . I will probably be doing this about 3 days a week and something else in between. I don't think I can take Jillian 7 days in a row:huh: :laugh: , lol. I also walk 1 hr on the treadmill 6 days a week and do christian yoga as well as some free weights.

    I just started the 30 Day Shred this morning. I'm happy to see others starting at the same time. My plan is to do it Mon-Wed-Fri, and do 30 minutes on my elliptical on Tue-Thur.

    I think I'll be doing it Mon., Wed. and Fri. also--don't think I could take any more than that right now.
    Tues. and Thurs. I'll do my other workout videos and on weekends I'll be walking.
    Also want to get some recumbent biking in there somewhere but that might have to wait a week or so!

    I am in too! I just picked the video @ Wal Mart for $9...i figured it was worth it for that cheap. I will be trying to do it 3 days a week as well because I have a personal trainer who comes 3 days a week. I have tried some many things & this being heavy thing is getting so flippin' old! I would like to have this resolution actually work!

    I got my workout in today! Took 2 little 5 second breaks to catch my breath. other than that I made it all the way through. Tomorrow is elliptical
    Friday is next 30 day Shred workout.

    :smile: Did my second day of this for this week. Made it through okay, though I have a little trouble with the jumping jacks! It will get better.

    Gonna get on the recumbent bike later for a while, too.

  • I'm in! I am just about to start day 3 of the 30 day shred and have not measured (but will since that seems to be what most of you are thinking would be the best way to check progress). I did weigh this morning and although I did not lose, I did not gain over the holidays! I consider that a plus! My only concern... is there enough cardio in the video? I was thinking of adding in some additional cardio atleast 4 days a week through the wii fit. I think I will be frustrated to not show weight loss...

    I'm doing this 3 days a week (to start, anyway) and doing mostly cardio on the other days. I try to get in some more cardio on the 3 days, too, as I also want to see some weight loss! I was going to get on the recumbent bike later but I need a few things from the store so I think a brisk walk is in order instead! :smile:

  • I am totally in, I got this dvd for myself for christmas and two other dvds of jillian's online and just got them in yesterday, so I'm starting today!! I can't wait. Monday, Wednesday, Friday are shred days and whatever other dvds I want to do, and Tues Thurs and possibly Sundays are cardio days at the gym on the treadmill and elliptical!! Yay!
