Ladies and Men Opinions on Makeup

I very rarely wear makeup and when I do, it's only mascara and maybe tinted lip balm. I may look marginally better with some liquid foundation but my skin is so sensitive that I get itchy and wipe it all off in a manner of hours so why go through the time and expense? And since several folks have mentioned their spouses - Hubs prefers me without it.0

I love makeup. I do believe like some OP's that you as long as you know how to put it on properly without looking gross then do it. I also leave the house without makeup on a lot of the time too. I usually wear it on the weekends when we go out and do things and to events etc...
I'm not scared to go out in public with no make up on, but i do usually feel more put together when i have my hair and makeup done! Whatever floats ur boat!!0 -
Since it's summer and SO hot in Texas (not recently - but usually), I typically just wear eyeliner on top, in my waterline, and mascara only on the outer edges of my lashes. I never wear powder or foundation, and haven't since I was probably 16 or so, just because it makes me break out, and I don't have the time, energy, or money, trying to figure out what foundation will "work for me" when I am okay without it. So... usually I'm just a lips and eye kinda girl. If I want to go all out, I'll do a smokey eye and lip gloss or tame eyeshadow and a dramatic lip. It varies depending on my mood. Unless I'm just running an errand or about to workout or have JUST been working out, I typically can leave the house with just eyeliner in my waterline and feel okay about myself.0

I hate when people put makeup on their actually cheek/all over face area..it looks sooo fakey and i don't get why so many people think it looks okay. It looks horrible. I think people look nice though when they wear lip gloss and a small amount of eye make up though. Just be yourself!
Those are the people who don't know how to wear make up correctly. I wear foundation on my face every day and most people would never guess I wear it - I've been told that often.0 -
I can take it or leave it. It doesn't bother me a bit to leave the house with no make-up on or my hair in a pony tail. I'm not one of those women who always feels the need to wear make-up.
I look better with make-up, though. Don't get wrong. I am pretty sure that people appreciate it when I do wear make-up. But I am just ME. Take it or leave it. LOL0 -
I rarely wear makeup and that is only if I'm going to a party where I'm dressing up. I will maybe put on mascara and tinted lip gloss for work if we have important people coming in. Otherwise it's no makeup and chapstick for me. I hate looking at women that have makeup that is caked into the the lines on their face by the afternoon. I want to say something but never do. I on the other hand would like it if someone would tell me if I was looking rediculous.
I have had very little skin issues my entire life and really my mother never showed me how to do my makeup so I just think I do a bad job of it.0 -
Boy do I hate makeup!
I mean, a little mascara, eyeliner, blush and lipgloss make me look about 1,000 times better... but I just can't be bothered most days.
Same goes for my hair!
My daily routine is usually face wash, moisturizer, wash my hair, put a little defrizzing serum in and let nature do the rest. I like to think I look natural and beachy (I have wavy hair)... but in reality I probably look tired and frumpy hahaha
I've always wondered if this makes me seem less professional at work.... but when I can hardly be bothered to come in on time most days, I certainly can't be bothered to put on makeup
But my clothes always look nice!!0 -
I wear minimal makeup, I don't like how heavy makeup feels on my skin. To work I wear tinted moisturizer(Neutrogena, Whoop), a little eyeliner, and mascara.. Always, some lip balm or lip gloss, I hate dry lips. I have usually sweat it all off by the time I leave the gym anyway....0
-
I slap on mascara every day because my lashes and brows are blond, so I look sick without it. Otherwise, no makeup for this girl. Hubby hates it and so do I!0

I almost never wear makeup, aside from the occasional lip gloss and maybe some mascara if I'm going out. I'm just fine with how I look without..and I'm too lazy haha. Thank goodness my husband doesn't really like makeup. Once I was going to a birthday party..dressed in jeans and a tanktop, hair in a side braid, and only lipgloss and mascara on and he asked why I was so dressed up! Gotta love him haha. I also don't do much with my hair. It's curly so sometimes I just let it go natural or I put it in the side braid..it's down to my bum and I am in now way, shape or form patient enough to do it every freakin' day.0

unfortunately I Have horrible, scarred skin, and acne bad....therefor I have to wear makeup, my skin is just horrible, been dealing withit my wholw life, alot lately, it sucks would love to be able not to wear makeup someday0

I wear makeup, but you can't tell I'm wearing it. My husband doesn't like makeup, so I only use mascara, lip gloss and foundation where there are spots that I don't like. Plus I don't want to take away from my natural beauty and look. Great question and responses! :blushing:0

I go out without makeup. if im in the mood to ill swipe on some eyeliner. or ill go fll out. just depends on what im doing and how i feel0

I wear make up 5-10 times in a year. 10 is probably even an unrealistic estimate but that's just in case there are lots of special occasions.
Wearing make up makes me feel uncomfortable. I feel like everyone is looking at me. Like they know my secret. Plus I don't know how to put the stuff on, so if there isn't a woman around to assist, it's not happening. Yeah, I just feel weird with it on.
I don't get my hair done either. Brush it, leave in conditioner, air-dry.0 -
Hmm make-up... there honestly is so many arguments for and against and back and forth on this.
I think though, it really is all personal. Going for a jog in the morning? Don't need make up. Going on a date? Depends on your personal preferences.
Being Overly done though is never good. Well, unless you're a drag queen (not knocking drag queens, LOVE going to shows).
Just don't put so much on that it cracks when you smile or is so blaringly obvious etc.0 -
I used to wear makeup everyday (by makeup I mean eye shadow, mascara, blush, etc) as a teen...
Now I only wear my mascara daily, plus a bit of foundation
I think every woman is at her best when natural !!0 -
I usually wear makeup just because it makes me feel better! I feel prettier with it, therefore I'm more confident.
Other people tell me I look beautiful without it so I do go out without it often but I don't feel so pretty so I do much less socializing...It makes me not want any attention on me! Haha so I guess you could say I pretty much love makeup.0 -
I'm with the majority of the guys here. Less makeup usually looks a lot better than too much. It doesn't matter if your skin is a little uneven or if spots or freckles are visible. That way, people can tell it's the real you. Much more attractive than a painting.
That said, of course it's OK to wear makeup if it makes you feel good. But you shouldn't feel like you have to!!!0 -
I am an all naturally girl of course when I say that I do mean I wear makeup but, very very little. My top two items I can't live without are chapstick and eye liner. That is all I wear and eye liner is only when I am working or going out. Weekends I only use chapstick. I also air dry my hair and don't use any styling products. My friends all think I am weird but, I am happy and I don't waste my money on makeup and hair products.0

Mascara and eyeliner. That's it. Nothing else.
Same here. Sometimes I'll not bother with either, but I tend to feel self-conscious without at least eyeliner on due to low esteem and a huge lack of compliments about anything. I used to put the whole lot on - foundation, concealer, eyeliner, lipstick and mascara, and people at least said I had a pretty face..... but then I got older, and couldn't be dealing with making up my whole face before I went out. Now I stick to special occasions or functions. I don't use blush, since I prefer the pale look my skin gives off anyway - and I don't care if people compliment me or not. It's about ME learning to like ME, and not anyone else.0 -
I guess I'm an oddity...I wear it everyday...especially to work or other events. Even a trip to WM gets a little bit. My husband likes the way I do my makeup..other than my eyes you can't tell I have foundation/blush on. For me it covers some freckles that make me took 12!
Showed up to work on a day off to pick up something with very minimal makeup (no eye shadow, lipstick/lipgloss) and was asked if I was ill! Nope...just didn't do my whole face.
As for my hair...it is ALWAYS fixed...even a ponytail is done neatly...no messy ponies for me. My husband loves a french braid in my hair...but since I cut 5" off I can't braid he. To say the least he is not too happy...but I am letting it grow back!0 -
I hardly ever wear make-up. If i do, it's only a tiny bit of foundation (Estée Lauder) and maybe some mascara. I have dark hair, eyes and eyelashes, and I tan easily so my skin's usually a nice colour, so I don't really need to bother. I do straighten my hair though if i get chance (not always easy with 2 young children running around!).0

Never worn make-up a day in my life! Too lazy for that  LOL0

In the words of Hillary Clinton
“You know, at some point, it’s just not something that deserves a lot of time and attention. I’m relieved to be at the stage I’m at in my life right now. If others want to worry about it, I let them do the worrying for a change.”0 -
I go out all the time without makeup...when I do wear makeup, it's very minimal, concealer, blush, shadow, mascara, maybe lip gloss. Less is more is my opinion.
^^^^ THIS! I wear make up on Sunday to church but that's it.0 -
i wish i knew how to apply make-up.
id use it more if i knew how.
my fashion motto: as-is.
which sounds pretty lazy... cause it is.0 -
I never leave home without it :ohwell: I only wear neutral colors but I have to have something on.. My husband isn't a big on makeup but he does like me to wear lipstick.0
-
Everyday...at least during the work week. I do the whole deal...foundation, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, bronzer, blush etc. Never lipstick! Can't stand the stuff. If I don't put any on (for work) I'm told I look tired :frown: I grew up watching my mom put it on every morning, rain or shine, regardless of what she was doing that day. My mom also has her hair done every day. It's a routine she's used to and does it in minimal time! IDK how she's managed that, but its crazy. It's become habit for me, as well.
I don't typically put on much during the weekends. If I'm not going anywhere, then I don't put on any at all.0 -
I wear makeup about two times a year when I get in a mood to put some on. I do my hair about as often.0
-
I love makeup! So I do a full face every day...nothing crazy tho. At thhe very least I will wear something to conceal my crappy skin, a bit of blush, and mascara, even if I'm just camping. I think you should do whatever makes you e most comfortable and confident. For me I don't feel awake unless I have taken some time to make myself look a little bit better and brighter.0
