It's a cut and dry question...personally, I don't ever turn down an honest request but when there is no msg attached...I just think - why did you send ME a request in the first place? Is it to get to 500 female friends on MFP? I don't know....how do you feel?

Usually no, unless I have seen them on friends pages.0
-
i do, because it's pretty obvious you found me in a thread or we have mutual friends already. i don't need a message because i hope to interact and learn what you're all about and it doesnt take long to see the difference between someone who finds you inspirational or simply attractive0
-
On my profile page I ask for a little message, 90% of the time I'll accept without a message. It's not a deal breaker for me. :-)0
-
Nope.
I put on my profile to include a message if you wanted to be friends. I always send a message when requesting. It just seems odd to do it out of the blue.0 -
I prefer getting a message. It sucks that if you keep your profile private there's no way to request messages with FRs. :grumble:0
-
yes. but if they are what i call a "collector" (of sexy pics of whatever- then no- or delete.:bigsmile:0
-
I prefer messages but yes I do accept FRs with no msg0
-
I don't accept friend requests w/out a mssg, totally agree w/your statement0
-
-
Nope. I want to know why they want to be my friend. If they think I'm inspirational: Cool. Think I'm funny: Awesome. Have friends in common: Let's do it. But a FR with no message irks the **** out of me.0

I don't think I have ever turned down a friend request, also, I don't usually put a message when I send one. I just figure, if people want to add me it is because they either know someone I know or they have seen me post on a message board.0
-
I really don't care either way.0
-
Yup, I do. I also sometimes send requests with no message. I don't know what to say sometimes, lol0
-
Yeah, I figure if someone gives me a reason to not be friends with them, I'll just delete them.0
-
Usually, no.
The very first line of my profile says that I don't accept friends requests without a message. If someone didn't take a minute or two to read my profile, it makes me wonder why they're friend requesting me in the first place. I don't have a lot of friends on here and don't see any reason to add random people for no reason. I just want to know SOMETHING about them - do we have similar stats? Common interests? Did they like one of my forum posts? Just a quick one-line message is all I'm asking for!0 -
Yeah I do.
Can always delete them if needed.
Thus far that hasn't been necessary.0 -
Nope!0

I usually don't accept. I have enough trouble trying to keep up with the few friends I have. Also, if they don't interact with me for a week or so, I delete them. I am here to give support and want some support in return.0

If there is no message and their profile is private, then, no, I wont accept their request.0

On my profile page I ask for a little message, 90% of the time I'll accept without a message. It's not a deal breaker for me. :-)
I agree. It's on my page as well, but I'll generally accept. If they turn out to be a creeper or less sociable, I'll delete.0 -
I never understood what the big deal is, but then I'm not an MFP celebrity or someone who gets 10 requests a day.
If they don't leave a message I'll usually accept the request, and if they aren't very active or if their posts are obnoxious, offensive, or consistently negative I will remove them.0 -
I accept them all. However, I prefer the message just to see either where they saw something posted from me or even just a "hi" is fine with me.
But, I check my friends list about every week and tend to delete people who haven't logged in in 2+ weeks. It's been my experience that once someone hits 2 weeks, they usually aren't back at all or consistently. Those who are on vacation usually let everyone know they will be gone and that is a different situation. It may seem harsh, but I don't need to have friends that aren't even committed to logging in. I don't care if you log or post consistently but for me, I need the motivation to see you logging in frequently.0 -
No one thats ever added me sent a message, so i always accept0
-
It depends on how much of their profile I can see. If it's open, then I'll check it out and decide from there. If it's closed and there's no message, then I don't accept the request. I've had a lot of people try to sell me junk, and that's not why I'm here. I also prefer to add like-minded people, so when I talk about my eating habits, it's with people who get it.0
-
I do, but I definitely prefer messages with the requests. I give the ones without a shot for a little while, but if they don't log in, and/or are not active on MFP I delete them,0
-
I accept everyone message or no message... I don't usually keep them though - they have a week to prove themselves to be a 'friend' and not just someone who wants lots of praise with no return. If I don't see praise at least once a week (usually on weigh day) I remove them. It's unreal the amount of people that just add you and then never say anything... what's the point?0
-
Usually not as I specify on my profile Im not here to be popular so include a message but sometimes if someones profile is totally filled out and they are someone I can identify with I will give them a chance. But usually I am not so kind. And even if someone sends a message and they have no friends and no profile and no picture, they could send me the biggest message in the world and I would decline. Life is too short not to be real!0
-
I accept them because I know how it is. Sometimes you just don't know what to write or how to start0
-
I have done when I started first but I wouldn't now. It's just common courtesy to send a message! I also won't add someone who can't even be bothered to upload a picture...0
-
Yes, because I don't care enough not to. MFP is basically a social network, networking is the point.
If someone is annoying me I'll unfriend them, but that's only happened one time.0
