Okay, I have to tell you all a little story.
Yesterday my boss gave me $40.00 and told me to go to Cato's and go shopping for some new clothes while on the clock. I thought, you have got to be kidding, she wasn't. She said that I need clothes that fit. So, I went and had a great time trying on smaller jeans and slacks. The kewlest thing is I came out of the store with a size 10 jean. If I recall, the last time I wore a size 10 was in High School. I am wearing them today at work and it is a great feeling to be wearing jeans that actually fit me. I look HOT in them. LOL I even got a couple cute tops, all for under $40.00. Gotta love Cato's.
Now, I just need to lose 10 more pounds for my wedding and I am good to go. I feel fantastic. I think the clothes have something to do with that also.
Oh yeah, I am also thinking about joining the Army. I am really excited about the prospects of being in the Army and what they can provide me and what I can provide for them. I am looking forward to basic training. Now, I have not talked to a recruiter yet, but I have been looking up a lot of information online about it. I figured, I could definitely make it through basice training after all I have finished 2 rounds of P90X and am now starting Insanity. Now, I am older as well. The age limit for Army is 42, I am 34 and in the best shape of my life. What do you all think?
Wow good for you! If the army is what you want, go for it! I did not know the age limit was in the 40's I thought it was the 20's.
Hopefully your soon to be husband is supportive.0 -
Today is going to be a hard one for me! I feel like I am getting a really bad cold. I am achy and tired and very very grouchy. Days like today are the days where it is hard to stay within my calories and get exercise. I do plan to take it easy and let my body rest today. Usually my day off is Friday but I have learned to listen to my body. Hope everyone is having a better day!
I am sorry you are not feeling well today. I hope you get better soon. It is a great idea to listen to your body instead of injure it or make yourself more sick. Have a nice rest day. :bigsmile:0 -

For most other branches it is 27, but the Army is 42. I was shocked to learn that myself. I thought it was 29, so I am not too old after all. LOL He actually is very supportive of my decision if that is what I decide. He has actually been through basic training when he was 17, he just did not finish. He was not ready. So, he has given me some insight into what it will be like. I have always kinda had it in the back of my mind about joining, and now I can. The reason this all came about is, I ran into a recruiter while I was out Friday nite and I asked him some questions and told him what programs I have finished and he said I should not have a problem with basic training. So, I am really excited about a career change and a huge challenge ahead of me. :bigsmile:0 -

That is great, nice to have a goal to work hard for.0 -
Jjtonic- I WANT YOUR BOSS! $40.00 shopping spree. That doesn't happen too often. You have a way cool boss!!!
So about the army... I am wondering what your future husband thinks about you joining the army? Would you be gone from him much if you do that choice? Or not? I just was wondering about the separation issue. I know my husband would not like me being away. Of course I am much much over the age limit to even consider the service but even being gone all day at work is plenty of time away from him. He likes me around, ALL THE TIME. Maybe that is just a cultural difference though. I just wondered?
BTW... I am working really hard on my goals this week and hopefully I will lose a pound so my little counter does not say 0 pounds lost! I am so ready to see results!0 -

Yeah, she is pretty kewl.
I have been discussing it with him and he really thinks that I should do it, if they feel they could use me. Basic training for the Army is 9 weeks and then schooling for my job. The only thing he fears is that they are going to teach me how to use a gun. I had to laugh at that one. I told him that I promise not to shoot him when he makes me mad. LOL
It sounds like you are doing an awesome job this week. Keep up the great work. I know you can do it. :bigsmile:0 -
I want to go on a shopping spree, but I am making myself wait for spring and summer clothes. Hopefully last years will be too big and I will need to get some better fitting outfits by spring.
I gave myself the day off yesterday. My lower back is still sore today so time to take a break from running and its impact and get back on the stationary bike today. I went over on my calories because I did not exercise, but still the scale was a few tenths lower this morning than yesterday.
Hope every has a great Wednesday!0 -
It's nice that you have a stationary bike so you can still exercise without jogging and adding more pain to your lower back. I go swimming every other day and that keeps me moving but is very low impact on my knees and back too. I love the swimming routine that I am getting into. Even though it is sooo early in the morning and it is cold outside when I get in the pool. I like swimming in the early part of the day when it is still dark out side. A very peaceful time of day. Most people are still asleep around here at that time. I do the step aerobics or go jogging on those other days in between. Might go out horse riding on Saturday. A group of ladies from church are doing a little outing near the pyramids and I am considering joining them for a horse/or camel ride. I have not been on a horse for years. I did ride a camel up to the top of Mt. Sinai a few months ago. Two more days till weigh in. I HOPE I LOSE A POUND AT LEAST. Sure is easier to gain than lose these stupid pounds! Phyljen0
-
I wish I had access to a pool more for swimming. With my kids and work schedule and the pool's open swim schedule it just does not work. I love the early morning too. When the weather is (when the snow is gone) I usually get up and go for a walk first thing in the morning, that way if I don't have time for anything else in the day at least I got in a walk. I have been doing some walking on the treadmill in the early morning, but it just is not the same as being outside.
I agree putting the weight on is so much easier than taking it off.
Have a great day!0 -

Well the store I went to does have the Spring line coming out, so I did get some cute tops that are Springy and I can not wait to wear them out. There is this great website called MyShape.com and I bought a couple cute dresses from them today. Both dresses including shipping was only $53.00. Needless to say, my tax refund is slowly dwindling away. LOL Once I know I am getting the money I am already spending it. I am a very impatient person. I do recommend the website to anyone who is has a hard time finding clothes that fit. You can actually go in and put in your measurements and they tell you your shape and then give you a butt load of clothes to choose from in your shape. It is really kewl.
I am sorry that your back is sore today. I have been there myself, so I completely understand. Do some extra back stretches to try to loosen it up. I hope it is better tomorrow for you. :bigsmile:0 -

Hello friends,
I am having a bad week! I took my son to his Dr Apt today (he hurt his finger badly at daycare on the 4th, cut off the tip) and they said that his finger isn't healing right and that he will lose it. If it falls off great, if not they will remove it in 4 weeks.
I know that it wasn't my fault, I wasn't even there, but I still can't think of anything else, I feel so guilty. I think that I could have done something better. Cleaned it more, or less. Done something different that might have made it heal better. I don't know. I just feel so sad that he might get made fun of. Girls might not like him or something. I know that beauty is on the inside and it shouldn't matter in my head. But I just keep crying about it. He is so small and it is my job to protect him. I feel like I failed him.
I know this has NOTHING to do with MFP or why you are all here, but I needed to vent. I am out of cals already, went over last night, already 24 over today and all I feel like doing to eating a big burrito with everything! I wont. But I know that I will find it very hard not to snack tonight.
Oh, and his apt was on my lunch break so I didn't workout today.

Oh Jenn! My heart is with you right now! One thing - it is certainly not your fault - I know, no Mom believes that when it's her own son or daughter, but it's true. I really hope that the doctor is wrong. You are a great mom and will give him the tools to grow and succeed and be happy, no matter what the outcome is. And please don't be down on yourself for taking a day off!
BIG HUGS!!!0 -
I just read your thread. I would love to join if i still can. I just started this Jan and have lost 4lbs so far. I want to lose 5 lbs a month. I am going on my first cruise ever and my first real vacation since my divorce 14 yrs ago. OMG, I never went on a vacation then. LOL This is my quest....0

I really like this goal and would like to join this group. So far my weight loss has been going very slowly, but it's a great goal. Here's what I am trying to do to make it happen:
1. Exercise every day for at least two hours (swimming, walking, spinning, weightlifting)
2. Eating no more than 1300-1500 calories per day no matter how much I exercise
3. Make most meals at home so that I can control the content. Emphasis on homemade soups and salads. No butter, sugar or white bread.:flowerforyou:0 -
Jenn big hugs go out to you. I am beginning unwarranted guilt is a big part of parenthood. We want them to never feel pain and when they do it hurts us too. Whatever happens you are in my prayers. I am a stress eater also and know if I were in your shoes I would be going over my calories for a few days. Take Care! Hope you have a better day today.
As a daycare provider may I ask what happened at daycare. When I hear these stories I want to know what happened so that if it is a danger I can eliminate from my home to protect the children I will do it>0 -

You are more than welcome. The more the merrier. What goals have you set for yourself? Setting goals help you keep focused. I wish you the best of luck in your journey to a happier and healthier lifestyle. :bigsmile:0 -

I agree with Siobhannestor, don't kick yourself for taking a day off. I don't believe for one minute any of this is your fault. I will pray for everything to come out for the best for you and your little boy. :bigsmile:0 -

We are here for you Girl! Take care of your son and yourself :flowerforyou:0 -
Welcome to all the newcomers! You will love this group! I have found it very supportive and I feel like I know you all even though it is just in the daily messages that we communicate.
Jenn- sorry about your son. I know it is hard to watch your kids get hurt. Believe me I have had 30 years experience in this field. It's hard to see them get hurt and to make mistakes. I'll be praying for you and for him to recover also. Give him a hug, poor little guy.
pbenison- what do you do at school? I work at a school too. I teach 3rd grade.
Good luck everyone and hope we all weigh in lighter tomorrow. Phyljen0 -
Burning 600+ calories a day through exercise is really difficult to do. Why don't you start off exercising 5 days a week for 30-45 minutes instead? This sounds like a struggle instead of a challenge. I'm not trying to bring you down, just trying to be realistic!!0

As a daycare provider may I ask what happened at daycare. When I hear these stories I want to know what happened so that if it is a danger I can eliminate from my home to protect the children I will do it>
Let me start by saying that I don't blame my daycare lady. She has 4 kids of her own, she is a great person a great mother and I still trust her with the most important part of my life -my kids. I truly feel like she loves my son like her own.
Things just happen. She has 14 kids there with only 2-3 adults. I know that I can't keep my eye on my kids every min of everyday and I only have two kids.
Well, I guess that he was laying on the ground (he does that as he plays with toy cars, running them on the "road" along the ground) and an older child on a bike was trying to ride past him. He must have put his hand out (maybe to protect this cars? maybe to say "get back I'm playing here" not sure really) and his finger went into the bike sprocket, the part that moves the chain around. The tip was cut off and my daycare lady put it into ice and tried to stop the bleeding while she called me to take him to the ER. I flew out of work (I work at a school, in the front office) even thought I had a line of parents I was helping. I didn't even tell my boss I was leaving early!
Once in the ER we waited for a long time for the "hand Dr" who told me that it would heal fine, don't touch it until a week later when I was to see my sons Dr. By then the blood dried to his flesh and she couldn't get off the bandage without soaking it in warm water.
I cleaned it everyday after that and we saw his Dr every week. But then she said it wasn't healing and sent me to see a diff Dr. A ped hand Dr. Who said that the tip was dead and it was just a bio-band-aid at that point.
If it falls off on it's own than the finger might re-grow a bit. If not, then he will lose it to the knuckle.
Thank you all for your kind words.
I did go over board on the snacks last night but I am going to try and stop that and I hope I still at least stay the same as last week.0 -
I am so sorry Jen, my sons are 26 and 28 now and I still worry about them. It is natural and I believe instinctive. Thanks for all the welcoming messages. I am a teacher to. Art.... Great career!0

I had a HARD last chance workout tonight!
Did the norm Curves circuit at lunch today, but then after the kids went to bed I did a Jillian DVD for an hour (OMG) then a yoga pm cool down DVD about 28 more mins.
1 1/2 hours of exercise and I am feeling much better about getting on that scale in the morning. I eat well today also, and didn't eat all my exercise cals.
:flowerforyou: Hope you all have a good weigh in!0
