You guys are mental. Or possibly from the stone age. I work in a large corporate office (at the headquarter location no less) for a national bank. I have never worn pantyhose here, let alone for my interview.
^^ I'm with her.0 -
 How are you supposed to wear pantyhose and flip flops at the same time? Or do they make pantyhose now with the big toe separate?
You may be joking, but they do make pantyhose to be worn with open-toed shoes...0 -
LOL -- If I were interviewing someone and she crossed her legs and I saw knee highs, the interview would be over due to poor judgment! ;c)
If the skirt reaches her ankles, you won't see them. Obviously, you wouldn't wear them with a skirt that allowed them to be seen.
If the skirt reaches her ankles, it's too long.0 -
That was fun. Now back to work... sans pantyhose.0

I do not work in the corporate world, so I would have no clue...BUT, I would freak out if I had to wear pantyhose. Not sure if it is because I live in the hot south or because I am claustrophobic, but they literally drive me CRAZY!!! I do not even wear them to church...and honestly I can not think of the last time I wore them.
Luckily, I have nice legs and nice skin, so no one really knows if I have on pantyhose. But, I do agree with everyone about it is best to be over dressed. My husband is a professor, and that is his motto, it is best to be overdressed than under dressed (when you are not sure)0 -

I guess you should tell my boss that, since I wore an ankle-length skirt to interview for my current job and the offer was basically made in the elevator on the way out.
But what do I know?0 -
Unless you live in very hot climate (like Miami) then YES, YES YES - wear pantyhose. The interview will be in A/C and you can rip them off in the car after. But always dress up for an interview and if wearing a skirt - wear pantyhose!!0

People still wear pantyhose????
^^^THIS^^^ At what office do women still wear panty hose??? Maybe the 50+ers, but no one else. We're in a very different age. I mean what's the purpose? So no one sees your legs??? Yeah I'm certain that 1/1000000th of an inch sheer material is keeping your legs from being exposed.0 -
OP, I am sure you love the back and forth from all the ladies on the pantyhose issue.
My advice to you is to go with the suggestion from a recruiter. They receive feedback on a daily basis from managers regarding what they liked and disliked about a candidate.
It is easy for women already working in corporate america to give their opinion based on what is acceptable in their job. Chances are their company has a more professional dress code policy that their managers just don't enforce.
Yes, my comment about flip flops was a joke. It is my example of something that is against dress code at my company but worn by a lot of women.
Your interview is not the time to test the waters as to what is acceptible attire. It might make the difference on whether you get the job or not.0 -

Lol-I dont wear pantyose, im 20, and never have. But I think the purpose is for those with imperfections on their legs, varicose veins, spots, ceullulite? in that case, pantyhose would be a better option.0 -
I hate pantyhose and there is only one time I will wear it. For an interview. And I work in the finance department. Finance people are uptight, *****y little girls (to quote Sam Axe) so pony up and wear the IBM suit, complete with pantyhose. You can show off the tatts after you have the job and have amazed them with your skills.0

Exactly.
I have never not worn pantyhose to an interview and I have never not been offered a job for which I interviewed. Perhaps the pantyhose were the thing that set me above other candidates.0 -
Most businesses have pantyhose right in their dress code. So I would err on the side of caution and wear them to the interview then when you get hired, review their dress code.0

this is why I don't work in corporate america...I wear the equivilant of pajamas to work every day. My big descision is real bra or sports?0
-
I would definitely wear hose...always dress better than you think you might need to..it's better to dress up than down for an interview...if you get the job you can always adjust your wardrobe later. good luck.0

Doesn't matter what the climate is, professional dress is professional dress. Wear the pantyhose and good luck!0

i work in finance and i wouldn't wear stockings unless i had a giant bruise on my leg or something.0
-
Yes! Absolutely. Bare legs are extremely unprofessional.0

I am actually getting really offended by these posts about pantyhose. (Tights where I come from)
I wear them all the time :c0
