I adore these threads where some guy will post this stuff to gain the adoration of the hundreds of females on this site. I only wish you would see the same threads started by women about men. Never see those threads.

Oh, and btw OP, you don't start a thread about it. If you are chivalrous, you just DO IT, and don't try to gain attention from it.

to me a chivalrous man is a man who lets a woman be a human being. It shouldn't matter of gender. We ALL should be awesome to each other.

I do open doors for women, but I do the same for men.

This. I actually prefer doing things for myself, like pumping my own gas, opening my own doors, and pushing my own shopping cart. My husband does these things for me, too, but I do like being my own person as well. Just preference. He's still chivalrous whether or not he does these things all the time.

The best thing you can do to impress a woman on a first date is to take of your pants and jacket.

Unfortunately, most women I have met don't truly appreciate any of this and will eventually see you as a doormat. Sad but true

    If it's not already added-

-Put the toilet seat down after you're done using it and clean up any mess you left behind.
-When she says "nothing is wrong" that means everything is wrong and you better not pester her to figure it out because if you can't you're only going to annoy her more. Best to ask, "do we need to talk or should I keep my mouth shut?" If she tells you to keep it shut... do what she says.

My man does 4/5 of those things 98% of the time.

The other 2% of the time I'm by myself.

    Reminds me of a joke:

A man comments to his wife that he just got his Olympic condoms in the mail and that he feels like wearing "gold" that night. His wife answers, "Can't you wear silver and finish second for a change???"

    OK, that's all I got.
    Ineeded a smile:blushing:

    Never.

A pint glass, a bit of card and a swift launch out the window always does the trick.

Agreed here. BTW.......lots of "chivalrous" things were done for women in the old days- because they were thought of incapable to do it on their own. These days- women are strong enough to open their own doors and such. However, it is common courtesy to do these things for all people at all times.

Can anyone point me in the direction of one of these gentlemen. Because around here chivalry has definitely died. That whole southern gentlemen thing must not exist around here.

Well don't come to Canada... we may have manners but the men certainly aren't chivalrous.

Damn... I was really holding out for the whole southern gentleman thing

I'm gonna say it because I have to....a chivalrous man should not piss all over the toilet seat and expect anyone else to wipe it up for him! UGH!

In my opinion, it's just better to be yourself, spontaneous, fun, honest, communicate, respectful, romantic when the time calls, consistent, genuine, and thoughtful and hope it is returned.

You hit the nail on the head. BTW, you look sexy in that cowboy hat :smokin:

I agree. To add, that pre-"equal rights", women often viewed their husbands in the more dominant role, taking a backseat to major decisions, and such. Not to mention, back in that era women stayed at home, kept the house clean, raised the kids, and prepared all of the meals from scratch.

I just think the Equal Rights movement sent a message that women wanted to be treated differently, and through doing so, they're relationship roles have slowly evolved over the decades to a different point of view altogether. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's hard to expect men to conduct themselves in the old ways when many women don't.

Having said all of that, I behave in the more traditional roles in my relationships (except for the view of higher rank).

This whole thread is too funny! I'll go on record to say I am a very independent woman who has a mind of her own and am not afraid to pick up the tab every now and then...BUT I LOVE chivalry when it is given!!!!

Keep the flowers and door opening coming MEN!
