Ladies, when you're at the gym...

Ok, I am not usually a confrontational person, but this struck a cord and now it is time for me to get on my high horse.
Yes, there are some women that are ridiculous and going to the gym for the wrong reasons. However, just because a woman looks nice while at the gym, it does not mean she is one of those women. There are probably a ton of other reasons. When I go to the gym, it is usually not the first thing I have done that day. Usually, I have been at work all day. I am not going to take my makeup off to work out. Now I do admit that I am lucky and no matter how hard I workout I have never ended up looking like a raccoon.
I like wearing makeup, but I wear it for myself, no one else. When I have makeup on and am dressed nice, I just feel better and am more confident with myself. When I feel more confident, I work out harder. So, why wouldn't I wear makeup to the gym?
As a matter of fact, I cannot remember a day I have gone without makeup in my adult life. Hell, even if I am hanging around my house I put on makeup and dress nicely. It's just what I like... I don't like to wear t-shirts and go makeup less. Now before you start saying that I am uncomfortable in my own skin, etc. I am quite happy with myself and I LOVE my eyes and want to enhance that beauty. Again, I do this for myself. At the same time, that does not make me high maintenance. When I am traveling with other people, I know that this is a choice I have made, so I get up earlier than everyone so that I do not hold anyone up. I don't judge people that do not wear makeup. It is everyone's personal choice.
I am a very adventurous, easy going person... just don't tell me I can't put my makeup on. Ok, off the high horse now. I hope you all have a great Friday!

I enter in Beast Mode and then leave accordingly. It would be a waste of my time to walk in feeling less than awesome, because I would be too worried about others and not focused on my workout.
Here is what I think when I see people at the gym.
Fit person: "Wow, I want to be like you one day"
No-so-fit-person: "Good for you for taking care of your health"
The end.
Agreed 100%0 -
I love the feeling of sweat, I hate the feeling of makeup and sweat together. Focus on what feels good inside as you workout, otherwise you cant give it your all. Then... when you do scrub up... you will have a great glow that you wont WANT to hide with Make-up.0

nope because i'm there to sweat and work my butt off. it irritates me when i see women with full makeup and not a drop of sweat. seriously i want to say to them what's the point all you're doing is taking up space - go home makeup girl
See, there have been a few times where I have gone in full makeup, once after work, and once after a lunch date. I sweat a ton those days, and ended up wiping some off. but as far as the girls who refuse to sweat? i agree. dumb.
it's one thing to show up in makeup (i used to go after work - professional work setting with full day face) then either wipe it off before you workout or well sweat it off. it's a whole 'nother story to spend 2 hours AT the gym in full makeup and leave in full makeup (without hitting the locker room to reapply full face).
Ahem - I do this! I can show up in full makeup (blush, lipstick, foundation, mascara, eyeshadow) and leave in full makeup perfectly well AND get a good workout in!
My mascara is on my cheeks, my lipstick is on my cheeks, my eyeshadow is on the back of my hands, and my foundation is on my shirt - but it's all there!!!0 -
LOL I can honestly say that i DO wear make up to the gym.... I don't do it JUST to go to the gym but i do make sure its freshened up
But at the same time..... I push myself really hard and there hasn't been a time that I've left the gym NOT sweating.... but really.... Im there to get into shape and start loving myself
So, I think you should do whatever makes you the most comfortable!!!0 -
I make it a point to remove any makeup I have on when i get into the gym because it clogs your pores and will make you break out!
Honestly, I'd rather look like I actually worked out than "cute" after my workouts And honestly, the cute dudes checking you out are probably more impressed with you being at the gym than what you look like. Get it, girl!0 -
Hello, I go to the gym about 2-3 times a week and when I get their I'm in workout mode... Honey don't worry but that makeup because all your're going to do is sweat, if you are really working out. LOL The gym is not a place for looking hot & sexy, but for getting in shape and healthy so that we can look hot & sexy...LOL0

this ^^^. I workout in the mornings but if I do end up going after work I make sure to get all that *kitten* off my face. Why do some girls insist on wearing makeup to the gym? Because their skin is probably horrible after all those times of working out with a full face of makeup on.
It's just dumb. There's no benefit to it. If you say it's a "confidence thing", I guarantee doing 8 dead-hang pullups or having a rock solid core will boost your confidence more than a couple layers of facepaint. I also guarantee you'll attract more guys that way, if you're looking for that at the gym.
I sweat. Like A LOT. True story: I was late to the gym and didn't wash my makeup off. I started to sweat while lifting and wiped it off with my hand. NOW, my hand was all greasy and disgusting, and those power cleans were the sorriest excuse of any kind of lift ever, because my grip was *kitten*. NO BENEFIT. WASH YOUR FACE.

Most of the women at my gym try to look their best while exercising. Me ? Nope. I sweat till I drip...and I have hot flashes. I am not there to impress anyone but myself. So I don't care what anyone thinks!0

What kind of makeup are you wearing that makes your hand all greasy? I never wash my makeup off after work and I have never had mascara running down my face or foundation peeling off in clumps. To clarify I sweat A LOT (as in it is dripping on the floor during rows and the fron of my shirt is mostly soaked through) and none of these things ever happen to me. I just wash my face at night and have never had any breakouts.
Makeup or not,if I see a woman working her *kitten* off, I am going to admire her.0 -
I hate girls like this!0

^^ hate girls that don't workout but walk around looking pretty.0

What about girls that don't workout but walk around looking ugly.0 -
When I'm at the gym i usually wear something sleeveless and some tight capris.... No one is looking at my face.0
-
I use to feel uncomfortable at the gym because lets face it I am a big girl. I use to go during my lunch break which meant I had on make up. Now I could careless how I look when I go to the gym. Half the time I am made up the other half I am not. My hair is always thrown into a messy ponytail (a really short one at that). I walk in to my gym the other night and there were like 5 men and me(after a LONG evening at work and no make up). It didn't phase me on bit because I didn't come to the gym to get male attention, I came to get in shape. Plus I am cute either way.0

Those are the worst....0 -
You go to the gym to work..not look pretty
This.0 -
Okay sweetheart. you are sweating like a pig, think you look horrible but ive heard guys think hott sweaty woman look hott lol.
for me, i used to go without make up because i thought it would get nasty but now they have tons of makeup that wont budge. keep using that makeup, put your hair in a cute but tight bun, get a bottle of water (not too cold), and a small towel. makes other woman jealous because not only do you look amazing, but you look like you know exact;y what you are doing (fabulous for beginners). and i can guarantee you would be pretty even without the makeup. im sure you get watched when you are working out by all the guys!0 -
I love this! I take a karate class with my son and you have to wear your hair up. So when I am out shopping and I see the people I take karate with they have no idea who I am. It always cracks me up!0
-
Does anyone else feel not so pretty at the gym? I mean, most of the time im makeup-less. Now, i dont look horrible without it, but just, not as good. There are always so many people, and sometimes I feel self-concious! Does anyone else get this?
They should all be so lucky if they looked like you. Gym time is work time. Just get it done.0 -
I feel gross because I go right when I get up.. messy hair, no makeup. But I don't really care lol. I'm just there to get my workout done & leave. (:0
-
I exercise to look cute, not look cute to exercise.0
-
Im in the gym to raise hell and lift heavy not look pretty. That's what photo shoots are for. My girl should have the same mentality. We can socialize at happy hour.... in the meantime there's work to be done.0
-
I go to the gym to look pretty AFTERWARDS.
Well... not right after my workout, but you get my point
Sometimes I get a little self-conscious but then I realize it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks of me. I'm in the gym, lifting weight like a badass. That's pretty enough for me.0 -

Most foundations are oil- or cream-based, therefore greasy, especially after working an 8 hour shift and during a workout mixed with sweat. More power to you if your makeup doesn't budge while you work out. Just pointing out that there is no benefit to keeping it on, and it takes less than a minute to wash off.0 -
yep! me! i never feel pretty at the gym because i dont ever wear makeup and im all sweaty and gym clothes are not pretty lol0
-
when I first started going to the gym I actually used to wear some powder and bit of eyeliner, lol! now I'm over that and go completely bare faced, it doesn't make me uncomfortable anymore0
-
I wear makeup everywhere I go, gym, grocery store, etc. I don't see why people get appalled by that. I get all fixed up for my softball games too. Just because I have a bedazzled shirt on or a little blush, that doesn't mean I am not going to tag your *kitten* out on a hard throw home or hit the ball over your head.0
