Salo, Serbian Film, Cannibal Halocaust
Oh! From the reactions on this thread I am now adding these to my que!
careful.. if i were you, i'd check out the reviews on imdb.. just in case.. a serbin film isn't just a horror movie.. it haunts people.. it's a pretty horrifying thing to put yourself through.. it's what i did.. and i'm glad i did..
Well....for Cannibal Halocaust, the director was hauled into court, bc he was accused of making a snuff flim, and there is ACTUAL real animal torture/death.
Salo....well, I don't even know how to describe that, it's effed up, and just makes you go "Da *kitten*????"
And Serbian Film, it's torture porn and the ending, oh LAWD the ending!
a serbian film can't be just summed up to torture porn.. there is a specific scene with a Pregnant woman and her child.... well.. that makes it something all in it's own category.. and i can't imagine watching something like that..
Well, no, it's not JUST torture porn, but there's a crap ton of that in there. Yes, the baby scene is someting else. The mom's expression during that scene is so messed up. Basically everything you could think of is in that movie and some extra stuff just cuz0 -
I don't know if this has been said or not, but Arachnophobia was one of the main ones. I'm still deathly afraid of spiders, I actually once nearly jumped out of a moving vehicle to get away from a spider lol (stupid I know haha).
Also Nightmare on Elm Street. I was convinced for years that Freddy Kreuger lived the fire place for some reason :laugh:0 -
deliverance..it was filmed like 8 miles from where i currently live :indifferent:
That was a scarring one too! "Squeal like a pig!"0 -
For me there were two:
The Hand that Rocks the Cradle-i have asthma and when the mum died as a result of an asthma attack well that was it!!!
The Fly-when he vomited on his food and transformed into a fly-revolting.
Have not watched any type of film remotely like Horror etc anymore!! No thanks!
lol.. man they just don't make them like "the fly" anymore.. they use CG and all those new special effects.. if you ask me, things were scarier when you were like "oh that's so gross.. what is that? i can't tell what that is? is it puke? puss? blood? ??????"0 -
Funny Games.
There is just something about it that terrifies me.
Probably because it's not far fetched, at all. Probably happens more often than I'd like to think about.
Even just seeing the poster/Dvd cover gives me nightmares.
This. That movie completely disturbed me. Also, any movie that has violent, unconsenting sex against a woman. The Last House on the Left disturbs me.
do you mean "legitimate rape"?0 -
Thought of One More..
WILLOW!!!
Those little people scared the **** outta me0 -

gosh so many many of these disturbing films have unconsenting sex against a woman.. it's what makes most of these films truly disturbing and terrifying.0 -
A Clockwork Orange Stanely Kubrick is one of my favorite directors, but I was 14 when I first saw this and haven't been brave enough to try again.
The Good Son The ending shocked me.0 -
Trilogy of Terror when I was a kid. But Audition (1999) Japanese Horror freaked me out. Pretty messed up movie. Love the Japanese Horror Movies!!
i'm hearing this one a lot (audition) and for good reason.. a vomit eating pet man with no arms and legs can stay with you for awhile!!
Well lets not forget if your not paying close attention the first hour or so is like a bad romance moive. That scene with the accupuncture needles is great though0 -

and the Leprichaun scared the PEE WATER out of me when i was a kid.. i mean really scarred me!!! this is one i remember
being a big big problem for me in the 6th grade.. *shudders* I WANT ME POT O' GOLD!0 -

True, true. There is some dark part to human nature that makes us still like to watch it. I think because we know it isn't really real, just a simulation. While the simulation is scary enough, it would be completely out of the question to watch a real, recorded rape.0 -
you guys remember brain dead? with the semolinan rat monkey thing that bit this guys mom? i think it was austrailia or new zeland.. so much puss... uug
BrainDead is a fantastic movie, not really disturbing, but funny as hell "I kick *kitten* for the lord!"0 -
The Exorcist, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St., Halloween & Scream.0
-
The princess and the warrior. man...she pleased her dad under the covers as a nurse in the mental hospital that he was a patient in but didn't know it was her dad..it's all messed up..*bad shivers*0

american version or german?
i found the main actor in the american version too yummy to get too disturbed.. lmao.. is that sick?
The american version yes, lol. I LOOOOOOOOVE Michael Pitt. But he plays a very convincing psychopath.0 -

Jesus. Just wikied "A Serbian Film" and read a quick synopsis. Yea, not sure if I'm going there. No wonder it's not on Netfilx! Was not the serbian film I was thinking of. May still watch at some point though ..it's like a train wreak, I might not be able to turn away
just remember, things like that will be carried with you FOR LIFE... FOR LIFE.. FOR LIFE.. (echoing)0 -
Pan's labyrinth made me depressed for weeks....We had no idea when me and my friend when to see it.
Mist.....the ending made me stand up and swear loudly in the middle of the theater.
No ''scary'' movies here....I am kind of a wuss
THE MIST totally EPIC!! the ending was such a DO'H moment.. i loved it!
"DO'H moment" , possibly the biggest understatement I have ever read. PMSL0 -
I'm going to go with "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" and "The House of Sand and Fog" - neither particularly scary, but each conveys a realistic sense of hopelessness and loss of control that's easier to relate to than the bogeyman from slasher flicks.0

What a great thread!
I was a massive horror/gore fan in the 80's and went to great lengths to try and see all the so called "video nasties" The only one that scared me somewhat was Evil Dead, all the others, Last House, I Spit, et al, just seemed like really poor films with dreadful acting and terrible directing, not in the least bit scary. I've refused to watch Cannnibal Holocaust soley for the animal killings, though I doubt it's any scarier than the other "video nasties" Films are entertainment and I refuse to be entertained by real death and torture.
Oddly enough, even though I'm not religious in the slightest, the films that really get to me are The Omen(original of course), The Exorcist and Prince of Darkness(John Carpenter at his best)
Thee one film that scared me more than any other and even to this day gives me a few shivers, is Jaws. I was only just a teenager I think when I saw it for the first time and had proper nightmares and was scared witless about going into the water for months afterwards.
I've watched Human Centipede in the last few years and the concept was definitely disturbing but the film itself wasn't scary. Seen Hostel and was stunned by how pathetic it was. This whole torture porn crap really is tragic. Seems they're trying to outdo each other for the sake of it, no actual thought about a story or a credible plot, just lame excuses to get their sick fantasies onto the screen. I've heard a lot about Salo and Serbian Film but I have no real interest in either as I'm not a scat fetishist or someone that gets off on baby rape.
I'm quite shocked that not one person has even mentioned Society yet. It's not really a horror in the normal sense, but my God, is that one seriously freaky messed up ending.
For all those saying Stephen Kings IT, please, read the book. It is so much better than the film, as is always the case, but this time even more so. Your imagination can conjure up infinitely more horrifying creations than a film could ever hope to do.0 -

good thing that we have these movies to outlet those curiosities.. in the dark ages.. they had real shows with murder and rape for the curious eyes of the public.. and a LOT more crimes like we see on these movies..0 -
I was thinking wow... I either have no soul or everyone on this planet is a total sissy.
This! Horror is probably my favorite genre, and it takes a lot to get to me.
That said, a few that I think are worth seeing are Martyrs, Frontier(s), and Inside.
Other than that - try me.0 -

i love mental hospital movies.. i've never heard of this one.. it sounds like it's right up my ally... (i'm such a sicko) lol0 -
Oh! And Session 9. I love it way more than I should.0

i guess he's in the new movie "seven psychopaths" so we''ll see again huh!! i'm pumped! gotta see that one!0 -

i'm going to put these on my list.. i have not seen them and i obviously am running out of ideas.. lol0 -

^^ This I love those 3 and being a woman shouldn't love Inside but as soon as I rented it and saw it, I went and bought it. There are only like 3 movies listed I haven't seen in this thread and that's only due to them not being available for me on dvd to see, as of yet.0 -

i watched "society" the great thing about my experience with "society" was that i had no idea what i was watching.. i didn't see the cover or anything.. so it had great atmosphere to begin.. and as it grew on, i was really pulled in and then, WHAMO! this incredibly disturbing image is set before me! it was a great time!! lmao.. It's so fun when things like that happen! its why i rarely watch trailers for movies.. i love surprises!0 -
Haha, I thought of another one. The Divide. Genre horror with a big dose of psychological ***kery.0
