I am going to try the lasagna with grilled eggplant in the future.

As far as low calorie and things like that go, I am not a fan at all of artificial sweeteners. With the exception of some fake meat products, I am not a fan at all of foods that are not natural. I am thinking a Tiramisu could be done with a soft tofu and greek yogurt with some lemon juice and blue agave as the cheese. I am not a fan so it is not something that would be on my menu. If you make it, please let me know how it turns out.

I'm the opposite - not a fan of fake meat (wouldn't mind if it was actually lower calorie/fat than real lean meat so much), but happy to have sweeteners - I specifically didn't say 'artificial' because Stevia based ones are becoming quite popular (and it's not like the sugar we buy in packets is exactly 'natural' either!)

Just had a quick look at tofu stats and that's definitely interesting - trying to recall when I've had it before, but will definitely have to get some and give it a go in various recipes.

The important thing about tofu is the flavoring of it. I paddle all my ingredients together and let them sit. Tofu it self does not really taste like anything. To certain people, it does have a metallic taste to it, but it mostly is just plain, drab no flavor food. It is a good source of protein.

I am not on a low calorie diet, I achieved my goal in March. I am also one of these eat more to weigh less people, as when I upped my calories to 1500 is when I was able to lose the last 5 lbs a 44 year old wants to lose.

I have recently been diagnosed with an auto immune disease that is pretty much the beginning stage of lupus. I am now striving to get as much anti inflammatory whole foods in me as possible. I also have high cholesterol, that is why I eat low saturated fat. So my diet is to be healthy, not thinner these days.

    Cheers.

Thankfully no high chlorestel etc and while I am on a 1000 calorie deficit (but not for much longer hopefully, yay!) I still regularly eat 2000+ to account for exercise.

Seems you can make it with ricotta, so might give that a go instead - hadn't realised it's only 130kc/100g for 'normal' and something like 85kc for light, though seems to be harder to find light in the UK. Might try and make my own ricotta as it seems to be fairly easy.

I wonder, what is the trick to get the title on the home page? It seems I get the most hits when it goes up front

Thanks so much. It took me a year, 3 MRIs, 10 xrays and about 10 viles of blood before they figured out what is wrong with me. I am looking forward to see if the plaquenil works for me.

I hope your mother found some relief to her disease as well.

It took my mom over a year if you count all her wrong diagnoses and the doctors who thought she was a hypochondriac. She has found some things to help. Thanks and I do hope your meds work.

I got nosy and looked up your medicine and her disease is contraindicated in there. She has Porphyria.

And now just re-discovered quark - less fat and calories than tofu, with a little taste (though not too much), decent protein per calorie ratio and not too expensive.

As far as I know, the home page just shows the most thread with the recent post in each section.
On other forums I visit it's considered pretty rude to continually bump your own thread - as it means other people's threads also get 'bumped down', however people seem ok with it here.

Just for your information while I'm on it (though I'm sure plenty do like it for the opposite reason); you're not getting a 'like' on facebook from me for the nonscience pictures/text etc. I'm fairly picky about what I do click on/promote.

And see my avatar for what my research checking scientific studies of, amongst other things, drinking a lot of diet soda, has done for me ;).

(The diet soda was one of the pictures that I considered a big distortion of 'good advice' based on science, thus my comments - the recipes etc I do like.)
