I was getting asked so many questions about healthy food ideas I started a facebook page on healthy cooking. I have pictures of dishes with nutritional information. I thought I would go ahead and share on here if anyone is interested in taking a look. Any questions or suggestions are welcome.

Feel free to challenge me to make your favorite fattening dish or dessert healthier. I have actually come up with my best stuff that way.

Thanks!

Yay, I am glad you like it. I am a foodie, I freaking LOVE food and had to come up with alternative ways to enjoy the foods I love while living a healthy life style.

I am getting ready to get a 3rd back injection due to an injury I got while exercising and did not take the time off to rest and heal (imagine that right) so as soon as I get straightened up from that, I will be happy to share the recipes that people ask for. Some of them are in the thread if you look at all the comments.

I am adding a lasagna made with tofu later. Ricotta has over 400 calories and 20 grams SATURATED! OMG! I use a mixture of tofu, cottage cheese and some light Italian dressing with a little bit of cheese to make the most delicious and healthier lasagna you ever had.

To those who think EEEWW, Tofu, trust me, just try it.

Thanks so much Sheri! I am going to get on making videos soon. I think since it is August I am going to start with how to make on tomato sauce from fresh tomatoes since this is typically the time of year that people have more than they know what to do with.

I also would love suggestions for recipes or things to make lower fat and calorie, either on here or on the page.

You are sweet Jackie. I am now going to donate 1$ worth of food for every like I get between now and Sunday. When I started it I had 249 likes, so for every one over that, will use to purchase healthy food for my local food bank. My city has been hit hard by the down economy. Lots of people struggling to feed their kids. Thank goodness for these organizations and their volunteers!

Gave you one more. Question about the tofu though. Every variety of tofu I've tried has that strong metallic taste. It tastes like when you were a kid and put your tongue on a 9 volt battery. Is there a tofu that doesn't have that taste?
  • Only one more to go! You're at 279 now! :)

Humm, I have never encountered that particular taste. I really do not know if there is a particular brand that is better than the other. I eat a great deal of the Nasoya brand.

Please, if there is anyone that can answer her question, please do. I just typically get what my local market carries.

Your facebook page looked great! I just liked it. I will be going back to it for more ideas too. One of my doctors challanged me to eat vegetarian and dairy free. I have been doing it all summer and have used tofu a few times but don't have many recipes for using it. I usually just scramble it with some bbq sauce. Using it in lasagna sounds great. What other cool uses do you have for tofu?
