Berries or honey. Thinking I'm going to try PB2 x

Sounds strange, and some of the ingredients are only found in the South... but I just tried it and it was amazing, rich, and hearty. Don't knock it 'till you try it!

    1/2 cup quck cook oatmeal
    1 cup low sodium broth
    2 oz livermush (or scrapple)
    1 egg

Cook the oatmeal with the broth using your method of choice (I use the microwave) and in the meantime fry up the livermush and egg (runny yolk is the best!). Toss everything into the bowl with the oatmeal and stir. Looks gross, tastes like heaven!

This is kinda what I do! I love savoury oats! :)

I do a cup of steel cut + 3 c broth on Sunday night and prep it for the week, then when I re-heat it, I put in water and pach the egg right in it! SO YUM. :D

That rather depends what I am using it for. At breakfast I normally add some type of fruit (whatever we have in) and a bit of cinnamon or some PB & honey or a little jam. I use it to make cookies, sweet and savoury bread and have also found it's good when finely ground as a thickening/bulking agent in stews. Oh, I use Sainsbury's Scottish porridge oats.

  • Three Variations I love:

    1. Strawberries, 1 tablespoon each dark chocolate chips and either shredded coconut or chopped walnuts.
    2. Banana, 1 tbs almond butter and 1 tbs dark chocolate chips.
    3. Blueberries (I use frozen which I thaw out), 1 tbs shredded coconut, 1 tbs walnuts and maple syrup.

Oh and I always include 1 tbs of ground flax, a dash of cinnamon and a few drops of vanilla extract in every oatmeal bowl!!

I make oatmeal with water to which I add some wheat bran, some wheat germ, some goji berries, some pure maple syrup and some cinnamon. Yummy!!!!!
Usually the result is about 2 - 3 cups big, but it's an entire meal, it lasts me until next meal.

I use old-fashioned oats to make thick protein pudding. 1/2 cup coconut milk, unflavored protein powder, 2 tbsp sunflower seed butter, 1/2 cup oatmeal, and 1 tbsp Jello sugar-free pudding mix. If I want something fruity, I'll sub some blackberries and blueberries for the sunflower seed butter.
  • I like to add fresh chopped apple and almond slices.

Cinnamon and apple butter. Tastes like warm apple pie! :)
  • beware of peanut butter, though it is high in protein but a ton of sugar and a lot of fat. try some banana with a little zero calorie sweetner.

Dlckinson's coconut curd and fresh diced pineapple (tastes like a pina colada) - this is my current favorite! SO GOOD!

Chopped cherries, vanilla extract and chopped almonds

Diced apples, maple syrup, cinnamon and chopped pecans

Diced peaches, vanilla flavored greek yogurt (peaches and cream)

Pumpkin Butter or Apple Butter with a tablespoon of granola for texture

    One once of old cheddar.
  • After so much experimenting, I have learned that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my oatmeal with Country Gravy Mix and Turkey Sausage Crumbles. This is my NEW biscuits and gravy, LOL. I dare you to try it! Enjoy!
  • I used to hate oatmeal but now I love it. My favorite base is almond milk instead of water and a teaspoon of chia seeds.

Then I add fruit, nuts or nut butter depending on the day.

On the weekend I like dried apricots and almonds; during the week I usually have blackberries and raspberries with pecans.
