girls with tattoos... yay? nay?

Nay. I think they look great on men ( specifically rockers ) but I think they look trashy on women.
This line of thinking, while your opinion, is, in my opinion (which I am also free to express), sexist. I just don't see why people think it makes a woman "trashy" to adorn her body, especially when you think it's "great" for a man to do it. Of course, this is your taste, etc. My issue is mostly with the concept that it makes one human being "trash" to do something that on another person is, in your opinion, "great" based on nothing more than their differnece in gender.
I know I'm just such a problematic human being to question these things.
I acknowledge it's sexist, but it's how I feel. I never said that the women who have them are trashy ( I'm sure the majority actually isn't ). It just appears that way. Recently I stood up in a wedding and I was the only female to NOT have a slew of back and shoulder tattoos. Looking at her photographs I thought that it would have looked way classier had she either 1) chose a different dress to hide them or 2) the women didn't have them to begin with.0 -
I have a half sleeve so obviously, yay!0

I like tattoos - but I don't think they add to or subtract from a persons 'attractiveness'.
It's like buying a new Mustang.
Yeah that factory exhaust sounds good... but an aftermarket Flowmaster set up is the sheiot.
But .. would you put a bumper sticker on a Ferrari? That's the problem with some tats. no more substance than a bumper sticker.
I agree 100%.
Ignorant people who get tattoos with out meaning are of no interest to me. It's a shame that people get tattoos now as a fashion statement instead of expressing your own personal story.
That doesn't make them ignorant. What is ignorant is that you think all tattoos MUST have meaning. Not all of mine have some deep meaning. Nor are they a fashion statement. Some of mine have meaning but some are things I love or enjoy. To me they represent a timeline of my life. Will I like the same things in 40 years? Maybe not, but I'll look at a certain tattoo ans I'll have that memory.0 -
While I have a couple tattoos, I (personally) have never found them attractive on women. Sorry if this offends those ladies out there who have them, but it's just one of those things.....
Its OK! I still get laid so its all good0 -

Depends on the girl and depends on the tattoo.0

Very sexy and interesting when done right. They have to be GOOD tattoos! I don't like trashy/cliche/jail tattoos.
I personally only have two (arm and leg) but I want plenty more.0 -
Nay, Tattoos dont tend to fit on women, men look better with them!0
-
Don't care. I don't have any, but it is your body to do what you want with. Always like men with tattoos though.0

Definitely hot, but too many tattoos on the face or hands is unattractive. There's a woman who works at the bagel shop in my building at work that has a particularly sexy pair of sleeves. She'd be attractive without them too, but they certainly enhance her IMO.0

you had me at girls.0

Yay for me. I love mine!0

I have eleven myself and I plan to get more. My husband doesn't have any and isn't all that excited about mine but he loves me for me and that's all that matters. I wish he would get some, tattoos are so hot!0

No thanks.0

Essentially, the summarization on here is that 1) women who have them think they're awesome (shocker), 2) guys who kowtow to women will (by default) like them (shocker), and 3) those of us who happen to think they DON'T look good on women are sexist. Yup, gotta love the lemming mentality.....0

I read a saying that says 'The only difference between people that have tattoos and those that don't is people with tattoo don't care if you have tattoos'.ugh. the only thing worse than no tattoos is bad tattoos.

Im a woman. I don't have any tattoos. I think they're awsome anyways.0 -
Nay.
My opinion, which I'm entitled to express, is that the wearer looks cheap.
Male or female.
Feel free to desecrate/mutilate your body all you want, but to me, unadorned skin is more beautiful than inked skin.
Thats the kind of prepopsterous garbage my old man (who has 'unfortunate' tattoos - see earlier in the thread) comes out with. I have other mutilations on my body that I did not choose - are they equally as repugnant?
You obviously didn't read the OP's statement.
The posed question was followed by why or why not.
I stated why.
But, as customary on this board, anyone with a dissenting opinion is scorned.
Your dad (not your "old man") sounds like my kind of gentleman. He's probably around my age. We grew up in a more genteel time when 'please' and 'thank you' were common (even expected) and failure to say 'yes, sir' or 'no, ma'am' when addressing an older person would get you in trouble.
If your other mutilations are scars from an accident, surgery, birth defect, or similar involuntary actions ... no, of course not. And I did not use the word repugnant -- YOU did. How can you leap from what I typed, expressing that 'a' is more beautiful than 'b,' to repugnant? You can't. It's simply your crass intolerance of a dissenting opinion.
If your other mutilations are from piercings -- navel, nose, lips, tongue, eyebrows, "personal areas" -- even those are not repugnant to me. I just prefer plain.0 -

Yup. Gotta love @sshole mentality as well. You don't know me or probably most of the men who posted in the affirmative to the original question. As such do not presume to know why we answered the way we did. I'm sorry, but I do not "kowtow" to anyone, man or woman. It just so happens that I love the art of tattooing and especially appreciate it on the female body of which I am also very fond. I have no problem with people who do not like tattoos, but I do take issue with ignorant donks.0 -
My hubby hates them too...0

Depends on the tattoos.0

if you don't like my tattoo's why am I even talking to you again?!?!0
