Sunday Share~I'm Kelley, mid-40s, and loving life in north central Texas. After losing both of my senior cats last year, I adopted a very sweet bengal/maine coon kitty in December - she keeps me entertained and is a bit spastic at times but so lovable.
@Kris~I'm so sorry about your injury, I hope it heals quickly.
@Karen~Wow, I can't believe how late you slept - I'm lucky if I make it until 7am on the weekends/vacation, even without my furry alarm clock! I do love to nap though! I hope you get through all your grading so you can have some down time this week

Just checkin in. Ate TERRIBLE today, we had D&D and I always go a little crazy. I made a vegetarian bean dip that was a huge hit, but unfortunately, I couldn't stay out of it. I did my squats today though, and I'm really slacking on my water.

Skinny I am always amazed at the amount of the grading you have to get through. It gives me a whole new perspective of the school experience from being the parent of the students.
I had a pretty quiet day. My daughter went out with some friends and after two very late nights my husband didnt stumble out of bed until two pm. It made for a nice quiet day for me Got some housework done and started a nice dinner of garlic beef and roasted potatoes. I have been spoiling my husband to death while he is here. We took the two dogs for a walk after dinner. my parents live about a half mile from me and I rarely walked there as there is a hill between us and they are very challenging. The walk actually went really well so my poor neglected doggies might start getting more walks now that the hill isnt such a killer:happy: Well I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and I will c ya tomorrow.0 -
Hi everyone - at the BFs this weekend and just heard they are predicting 4-6 inches of snow here. We are going to see 'THE CROODS" this afternoon - we are big fans of cartoons and it does look good, but I'm not thrilled with the idea of coming out of the theater and seeing a pile of snow on the car. .... ugh. Not much opportunity for exercise this w/e.
Boo to the snow, yay to the Croods. I love cartoons too. Let us know how it is, it looks quite funny.
It was a very enjoyable movie. Loads of action and laughs and a great story too. The complete package. The snow turned out to be 1-2 inches of fluffy stuff, so not a problem at all. I have been good and staying within my caloric limits.

Well that crazy weekend is in the books! All in all it was a success. Saturday morning I got to the gym and got through one superset and knew I was not going to make it... was just tired and draggin... so I switched my workout and did a couple of different things all upper body, letting my legs get some life back. Between pullup (assisted) and baseball practice... I woke up Sunday morning with a VERY stiff neck. Still bothering me today actually.
Not sure what my workout schedule will be this week. Tonight I plan on doing some sort of lifting.. probably nothing crazy since my neck and back are still stiff... Tuesday I will hit some cardio, maybe spin class. Wed I will lift a bit again... then Thursday and Friday I am hoping to have LOTS of cardio!0 -
Monday check in: have decided that my week long experiment of eating right and NOT logging in is a failure. From now on, I'm going to start logging in my food again. I didn't weigh myself this week as couldn't face the scale. Making a plan to get to the gym. I'm retired, but babysit for my daughter as if it's a full-time job. I can't blame being busy for not getting to the gym.0

Monday Check-in~Good weekend, but busy as usual. Got in some good cardio on Saturday and then had session with trainer yesterday plus did some more cardio afterwards – had me do a superset of just 4 circuit’s, I went through the circuit 5 times so muscles were definitely fatigued at the end of that hour. I’m feeling it today, arms and hammies are a bit sore – I think my arms are more sore from the vertical knee raise than actual weights though.

Monday check-in, a bit of a rough weekend. I had homework to do all weekend, not much time for anything else. Aside from a birthday party for what used to be my "2nd family" growing up. My parents and my best friends parents were friends so we used to be like a big family. Either way it was a good party. But I know I know I didn't make the best food choices.

Hello friends - spending less time on the computer and more time MOVING. Got in 11.6 miles of walking yesterday. I'm in Kentucky on the Walk Across America--at 616.4 miles.
I am still amazed at everything you guys accomplish! Just great!!! Wonderful workouts, running, climbing, weights........I truly admire you folks.

Saturday Success: I went for a good mile and a half walk on Saturday and it wore my puppy out more than it wore me out. He is normally just a ball of energy. We were going to go for another long walk that evening but we got about a quarter of a mile and he started jumping on me to let me know he was ready to go home.
Sunday share: Hi I'm Helena. I live just south of Houston and north of Galveston during the week but live in Galveston on the weekends. I will be 23 in a week! I am really getting serious about logging and exercising. Having changed the amount I need to lose has seemed to make a difference in how I am looking at losing weight. I feel like I can really achieve this now!
@Linder Great mileage yesterday! I wish I could do that much.

@helena--glad the goal change is working for you. I also made a change, but in the other direction--pushed my final goal out a bit. Hoping it will help motivate me.
@lin--Wow--can't believe you are already in KY!! I'm barely halfway through VA--I can't wait to get to the next state. Right now I'm celebrating every time I move into a new County. :laugh:
@tina--glad you enjoyed visiting with old friends--it's hard to make the best choices at a party, but as long as you do better on a daily basis, I don't think those little "splurges" really have much effect.
@kelley--sounds like your injury isn't put a cramp in your exercise. I almost NEVER sleep that late anymore, but apparently my body needed the rest. I'm just glad gunner cooperated.
@mel--I love going to the gym and running, and even in the summer when I'm off work, I struggle to make time for exercise. I think it's b/c it's such a selfish act. Most of us are in this position b/c we tend to put others before ourselves and our health. Working out is all about "me" and I always feel slight guilt that I'm not doing something less self-centered. I don't know if I'll ever get past that feeling--I sure hope so!
@gorilla--glad you made it through your busy weekend. Be careful not to exacerbate the neck stiffness.
@robin--glad you didn't get hit to hard by that storm. We also have only gotten a light dusting..
@tammy--Though I know I'm not the only teacher with lots of grading, I don't know if my situation is typical in that I'm teaching 5 high level classes with a lot of writing. I could choose to teach a college prep freshman course that would have less essays, so in part it's my own fault. I'm also not the most efficient grader--I tend to procrastinate and am easily distracted. :blushing:

I was getting really close to my original goal to get down to 170 lbs. and I think that was causing me to lose motivation. I know I want to at least get down to 160-ish to be in the "healthy" range of BMI, so I changed my goal to 150 lbs.
I'm getting ready to go shopping with my sister this afternoon. Later, I will get through a bit more grading.0 -
Monday check in - doing well, things are going along tickity-boo. but this coming weekend will be a challenge. I'll be at my parents and not in control of the food being served. Of course, I will be in control of how much i serve myself, but I find it difficult to keep under control while there. I plan on taking a big thing of salad and maybe even some of my own dressing to use. I will attempt to keep my portions under control. I will be able to track - I have the app on my phone. They don't have wireless internet, but I can still log - it just won't show until I can sync everything once back home. Exercise will be a challenge as well. They live in the country so it's not so simple to just go for a walk. I think I will take a work out DVD to do in the mornings. Let's just hope I can get up early enough to do them. We tend to stay up much later when there as well..... So, I have a bit of a plan in place. I hope i can stick to it.0

Monday check in: I didn't have a great weekend. Saturday started off well but then downhill from there as far as the diet goes. But it was fun to see people I haven't seen in years. We won the State B girls' basketball championship 25 years ago and were honored at the halftime of this year's championship game. Laughter abound and most people are past their high school BS. It was funny because there were two girls there that weren't -- still stuck up and actually making fun of people from high school. SIGH -- With all the visiting, time got away from me and we didn't get home and to bed until 3:30 and then my alarm went off at 6:30 so I could get to church to sing in the cantata. The big bummer was that I hit a jackrabbit on the interstate after midnight and my entire front bumper is wrecked -- my first claim was called in this morning -- bye bye $500 deductable!!
After breakfast, two services and lunch (which I thought was going to be healthy choice, but ended up taking too many calories), I finally was able to crawl into bed for a nap. But, it's a new day/new week and I'm ready to go:

Checking in today. Itr's been several weeks since I checked in. Mentally I think I just quit and physically didn't feel good. i now have a little support in that I think my husband is finally ready to lose weight also. I have been on every diet, have multiple physical problems which limits physical activities. I can't even imagine how much weight I have gained and lost over the years. I am starting to read more about the emotional part of overeating and trying to understand maybe the why to all of this. I hope I can maintain this journey now. I enjoyed and looked forward to all of the encouragement and news from everyone before and look forward to it again.0

I realized I forgot to do Monday check-in. So here it is. My Jaw is killing me today. I clench in my sleep. Mouth guards help but not a lot. I am also getting 3 of my wisdom teeth in and so they are pushing my other teeth together which is painful as well. Luckily we just got dental insurance so I am going to look into that to see what I can do.0

We actually had snow today and the roads were passable. I was able to make my appointments and get to the gym for a great workout. We had about 1-3 inches which stuck to the grass it was nice because the forecasters were only calling for a dusting.

Happy monday all. I hope everyones week is off to a great start. I have had a pretty good day. Did some grocery shopping with my mom this morning. My daughter who is 20 decided that since it was so nice out today and her and her friend had the day off they were going to go hang out in Seattle today. So I dropped them at the ferry dock and then stopped at one of our waterfront parks and took a nice long walk. So quick question, I am noticing now that my walks are getting longer that the soles of my feet are getting really sore. I think I could go longer but they really start to hurt. Would a new pair of walking shoes fix this problem. I have never been a shoe person. I just always owned a pair of tennis shoes and a pair of dress shoes so i I dont really know much of anything about them. I have a turkey in the oven. I bought it at the Thanksgiving sales to make for my husband since he always misses that holiday and then forgot about it:laugh: So we are having my parents over tonight and having a nice dinner. Well I guess I better go finish picking up and putting the groceries away. Have a great day everyone and dont forget to grab a glass of water. I am on 8 now:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:0

Hi guys!
Went shopping with my sister which was fun and somewhat productive. I bought 2 new tops--one I can wear now and one for summer. I wasn't planning to buy any summer clothes until I get a chance to go through/try on what I already have. However, this top was really cute, unique, and only $15. I also bought some comfy casual shoes and a new bath mat for the tub.
Now I'm off to starbucks to get through some grading. Will check back later to post my progress.

@ jt - Definitely look into a new pair of shoes. It's just as important to have a good pair shoes for walking. Can't recommend a specific brand or style because everyones feet are different. Go to a sporting goods store and try a few on and see what feels right.0

Did c25k w4d1 today and it about killed me. I had to stop several times to breathe and wipe my face. By the end, my leg was killing so much I had to limp to the locker room. Stretching seemed to help, must be my calves were too tight.
Got my house cleaned, AND made it to the post office. I've been a busy bee today!

JT definitely look into walking shoes or cross-trainers. I recommend going to a store that specializes in walking and running shoes. They have people there that are trained to help you find what you need. I got mine at New Balance. My feet are extra wide and they specialize in unusual sizes, both wide and narrow. There are other brands that do as well. Shoes are kind of like cars. There are a lot out there, because different things appeal to different people. Also there may be a brand that works better for your particular foot.
Its been a good day, a bit on the quiet side. We went for a good walk. The weather is still a bit colder than normal, but very nice.
As an ID potato farmer's daughter, I learned to eat homemade chicken noodle soup over mashed potatoes. That's what I made for dinner tonight. It was so good! Definitely fits in the category of comfort food for me. I am getting better at reaching my 1200 calories, but still not eating many of the exercise calories. I guess I'll see how hungry I am later.

@tammy--what others already said--you need good shoes for walking or you will end up with injuries that could affect more than just your feet. Without the right shoes, you can damage your knees, hips, and back. <in my strictest "teacher" voice> Go buy good walking or cross-training shoes!
Hi--just taking a break from grading essays. The last 2 took me over an hour--yes, they were that bad. :sad: I'm hoping that means I'm due a few good ones. Well, back to work.0 -
What a busy day for everyone! I did my cleaning today too - vacuuming the entire place, including moving chairs, dusting and the glass. Having company tomorrow and want my place to shine. Unfortunately, she is bring donuts from a shop she discovered so I have some planning to do for the rest of the day.
I am struggling trying to keep my calories to 1200 a day. I mostly come in around 1800 instead, but I keep logging. I keep drinking my water!0 -
hey, can I join this group? You all sound like a great group of ladies. I also have over 100 lbs to lose. I started in January with a family challenge to lose 5% body weight (conducted over facebook) as we neared the March 4 deadline, I was almost at 10% and knew from past failures that I would need support to keep going. I found MFP and am finding a support system here that is keeping me motivated.
Since starting January 4, I lost 32 pounds at last weigh in about a week ago. It was my 54th birthday yesterday, so I apldmit to enjoying a couple splurge meals over the weekend and had today off. I am a little worried about tomorrow's weigh in, but if I ate least maintained, I will be happy. Looking forward to getting to know you ladies better.0 -

Sunday Share: I'm Kaye from Southwest Idaho. At 68 I seem to be the oldest member of this group. I began my current fitness journey the very end of September in preparation for knee replacement surgery. That went well and I have just continued on. I have now lost 55#, the most I have ever lost at one time. I've been on this journey many times, only to quit and gain back more than I lost. Not going to happen this time! Thanks to MFP and this wonderful group of friends, I will be logging my food and walking for the rest of my life.
You will often hear me refer to members of my family. I have 7 children with spouses, 14 grandchildren, and a husband of nearly 48 years. They are all a big part of my life.
I took my longest walk yet today. I walked with both of daughters that live nearby. We walked for about 3.5 miles, 70 min. It was a great workout.

i was soooooo cranky yesterday that i worked really hard at they gym and today my arms and shoulders are sore :laugh: :laugh:
so i went for a bike ride for over and hour cause it was a beautiful spring day and i did not want to do housework........wonder if it will get done while i sleep?0
