What size/weight did you feel confident to wear a bikini

Well, I've been wearing them since I was 160lb, and looking back at pictures I realized that i looked awful in them and can't believe I wore them...I'm 125lb now and still don't really feel comfrotable in them, because my stomach hasn't really flattened yet, but I'm wearing one anyway...lol =] I really just think it's personal preference. Women tend to be their own toughest critic.0

Now. This summer for the first time in 20 years. I had five kids but after a ton of hard work I think I am ready. Most of it was a mental thing, trying to be comfortable in my own skin. I have arrived and it feels amazing.

The last time I wore a bikini I was probably 10 years old. I was chubby then, but not nearly as self conscious as I should have been.
I just bought 2 bikinis a couple of weeks ago (Large bottom and Medium top - The Medium bottom made some pudgy areas I did not like LOL). So far, I've only worn the bikini top with a pair of shorts while doing yard work. That was a huge step for me, but I felt REALLY self-conscious when my neighbors drove by.0 -
I was about 16 maybe 17 yrs old.. Size 12 in pants, med shirt size. Even tho not comfortable in it, I wore it.. I think if I get down to the same size but be more toned, I'll be comfortable0

HA! I'll letcha know when it happens. :laugh:0

I'm 120lbs, 5'4", size 2, and I STILL don't feel comfortable in a bikini. I have stretch marks and saggy skin from pregnancy. After losing the first 30 lbs of baby weight, I thought to myself, "Maybe these insecurities I have about my stomach will go away once I reach my goal." NOPE! I struggle with self-image so much, TOO much if you ask my husband!! I have a friend who is about 100 lbs heavier than me, same height, and she can ROCK a swimsuit... I wish I had that kind of confidence! I envy anyone who is confident enough to wear a bikini, at any size! :flowerforyou:0

i'm a 10/12 and am wearing one...0

I would never have stopped wearing them if I could find a bra-sized top that fit that didn't cost a fortune. I have great big boobs and a long torso which means that nearly all one-piece bathing suits are too short on me- they dig in at the shoulders and the crotch area, even when I go up in sizes (my bathing suit size is two-three times higher than my clothing size and they still don't fit comfortably). Then when I was pregnant I started wearing tankinis and those are ok but I hate all that extra fabric floating around me. So once my boobs get back to a more manageable size I'll switch back to bikini. I'm of the "if you don't like it, don't f-ing look at it" mind. Other peoples' insecurities are not my problem.0

i'm a 12/14 (USsize, 5'8") and i'm taking a 2 piece and a tankini on vacation next week. to be honest, i don't look awesome in either, and it's not like the tankini magically makes the fat invisible - it just covers it up! and, the two piece comes up pretty high and fits me really well, so i think that helps with the confidence. it's really just my stomach that i'm uncomfortable about, so i often cover it up with a towel or swim top and show off my upper body (which i'm pretty proud of!!)
wear it ladies!0 -
i'm also on the "always wear one" wagon, regardless of weight. No one has ever complained! I like them -- they are fun to buy, fun to wear, and EVERY woman is "allowed" to feel comfortable in her own skin. I don't judge anyone on the beach from 90 pounds to 390 if they have the desire, confidence, and self-love to rock a bikini .
yep yep so true!!0 -

AWESOME AWESOME!! I think this is the Summer I will rock or wear a Bikini0 -
I wore a bikini at a size 16 against my will lol I didn't want to ruin my boyfriends holiday. I felt like crap. If I see a women a size 16 plus rocking a bikini I think you go girl but suppose I'm hard on myself. I always remember being on holiday and seeing a girl who was maybe a size 14 but looked great covering up.. Nearly taking the towel into the pool with her..now I'm sure there were plenty of bigger girls than her but because she was trying to hide she drew more attention to herself. I won't be wearing a bikini until
I'm at goal and toned. I wish it really didn't bother me but it does.0 -
I plan on buying one for the first time in a LONG time for our vacation this summer...wouldn't quite wear one yet, but I'm still workin' on it0

I'm 5'4" and about 120 lb and I still don't feel like I'd look great in one. The biggest problem is finding a top that actually covers me up. I might order one this summer to try...0

Try Freya brand bikinis. The tops are amazing.0 -
The smallest I have been in my adulthood was around 138-140. I still wasn't quite confident. I am thinking 135 but also after toning for a while...so it may be 140 but toned. I am 5'8.
Btw, I have never worn a bikini in my life. I have worn tankinis before, even when I was a size 6. I just don't like to be that exposed. But after the work I am doing and plan to keep doing..I am going to rock a bikini!0 -
I wear them at home all the time -- mostly the "sport" kind, because I need the support. Away from home, I think my milestone will be when I can wear a medium bottom without muffin top/other weird "squishing". Top will always be L/XL so whatever on that. So that would mean like a 12-14 top (US), 8-ish bottom. My goal weight is the weight I was when I rocked a VS bikini in Vegas (and threw on a tennis skirt over it and walked through the casino at Caesars with no self-consciousness at all). Hence it is my goal weight0

I wore a bikini for the first time at christmas time. about 145lbs. I am still currently the same weight (tummy has gotten slightly smaller) i am not super confident but i am deff rocking it bc ive never been able to wear one my whole life
I have gotten 'slightly' smaller since then but not by much! I've been obese my entire life (highest weight 230) and i have had a baby 2 years ago.0 -
I'll let you know when I get there....
I am thinking 10 top/4 bottom....I think I will always have a "big rack".0 -
Any, really. Don't like, don't look is my motto.0

I wore my last bikini pre last baby. I was 165lbs at 5'6". I was very confident and looked sexy as hell.
Now 20+ years later I am 33lbs away from pre-baby weight. This year I bought a bathing suit -- a tankini. I am very doubtful if this body will ever see a bikini again. But at 59, I don't feel I need to be in one!!0 -
One pieces make me feel frumpy and dowdy and like I have something to hide and be ashamed of. So I don't wear them. Bikini or death.0

I'm 5'4 and 127 lbs and don't feel confident yet. I'd like to lose a little more BF in the next couple of months and hopefully feel great by June!0
-
I wore one when I was 10 1bs lighter than I am now and I was so self conscious!! My plan is to continue lifting, eating healthy with lots of protein, and rock that bikini in November when I go on a cruise with my husband. I also hope to feel MUCH more comfortable in that bikini than I did 10 1bs ago.0

I'm getting ready to move from Florida to Kansas without having donned a suit of any kind, so I think my bikini days might be very far in my future. Also, I'm not sure if it's so much the size as the stretch marks and the complexion on par with milk.0

I agree, I don't like one piece bathing suits at all! I have never quite felt confident in a bikini - even now, I am 5'3'' and hovering around 114-115 lbs...but at this point, I think it is mostly all in my head haha0 -
The weight I'm at now has been the first time ever!0

Having lived my adult life in Europe, where women/men wear very small skimpy swimsuits/bikinis (yes, even the men), I learned that you are at the beach to enjoy the sun and water. I rocked in my bikini at 185, size 14, and turned heads. 100+ lbs heavier today I will probably wear my bikini (yes still have one) when I am back to 200 or less. If I am on a nice secluded beach, or a clothing optional beach in the US, I will wear it right now in the water but probably still to my gorgeous tankini until then. You would be probably look fabulous in your bikini, it is all about how YOU FEEL not everyone else. If you and your significant other see you beautiful then go for it!!! Don't let other judge you my friend.0

It's so weird, but I felt really great in a bikini when I was in high school and weighed around 118 (size 4). Then I actually lost weight as I got older and felt incredible in a bikini at 105 (size 2). I had my daughter in May of 2010 and that August I wore a tankini that showed off my lower stomach and had a string bottom and I felt like I looked great. I was probably around 130 then and a size 6. But then the following summer when my kiddo was 1 I had gained some weight- I think I was close to 120 and I felt like crap in my bikini and the pictures I had taken at the beach I deleted off my camera. Ugh! And I was a stinkin size 2 still but the tummy flab was unreal. Last summer I was about 125 and wore a fully covering tankini and same so far this year. We went on vacation last week and I stayed covered up. I'm currently 128 and size4/6. I feel great about my butt and legs and arms and chest- I just have a flabby stomach and ridiculous muffin top. My goal is to be able to wear a bikini by June. I don't know what weight I'll be, I just want my stomach to not jiggle or have rolls when I sit- and no fat spilling over the top of the bottoms (top of the bottoms lol).0
-
I'd wear one now if I could! They are all so pretty! But I have a mom belly so until surgery or some miracle I won't ever get to. No matter how much weight I lose I'll have that issue.0
