Last I checked, VS only went up to DDD. They referred me to Lane Bryant for extended size bras past DDD.

I could be wrong! It's been known to happen  I will check tomorrow during training and get back to you on that, just to be sure :)

I think it's wonderful. Being a fat girl myself, I'd feel more comfortable knowing there was a girl my size there.

A plus-sized woman working there makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. Neither does plus-sized women shopping there. My only gripe with plus-sized women shopping there are the ones that try to squeeze into things too small for them. You're not going to look good in lingerie if you're squeezing into something too small for you, nor will you be comfortable. As long as people are aware of what their size is, dress for it, and don't try to squeeze into too-small clothes for superficial reasons, I see no problem with anyone shopping there if they want to.

While I agree it may not be attractive, if they want to squeeze themselves into something that doesn't fit, the decision is ultimately theirs. Though if I were making the sale, I would suggest as much as I could a proper fitting and a proper sized bra. But if they refuse and maintain that they want that size, I'm not going to lose a sale because of their personal preference. However unfortunate it may be lol.

You're not understanding me even a little bit. Let me break it down a little more simply.

    1. I have never seen someone that can be categorized as fat working at VS. I wrongly assumed they did not hire fat people. Obviously, I was wrong about that.

    2. I have never seen an unattractive person working there, either. I do not think that I am attractive. Therefore furthuring my belief that I could never get a job there.

Yes, there are people that are less attractive than others. Is it superficial? Yes. But anyone who says that they have never looked at someone without having known them and thought that they were unattractive is a liar. Perhaps "ugly" was a poor word to choose.

I never said that unattractive people aren't entitled to better prospects. I never even implied it. If that's what you chose to take from my statement you sorely misunderstood.

Give yourself more credit babe! You are beautiful!

Firstly - awesome sauce on getting a job there! I've had friends who worked there and loved it!

I will say I love VS, I always wanted/wished to go and buys pretty underthings inside the store, but i assumed like so many other stores (read Hollister/Abercrombie) that they only catered to the stick thin model types they have in their magazines. I would go in and get perfume/lotions (looove Very Sexy by them)

I was not really a super big girl to begin with, maybe a 38C - but I didn't have a stomach that I wanted to be seen by anyone for a fitting, and I didn't want to be looked at like, why would someone who looks like that need a sexy bra, no ones looking, so I never went beyond their makup counter.

Surprisingly one day while I was looking at body spray an employee walked up to me and asked if I had seen thier sale bras (Semi annual sale I think?)-- I was shocked to see a girl, larger than myself, working there. Not in a way I didn't think she should be, just that I didn't think she would be! I told her no, that I had never bought a bra here and she was shocked! She took me to the fitting room, fitted me, and was so nice about the whole thing. She found me bras I loved (at a great price) and I've been shopping there ever since.

I haven't went into the panty section yet, but one step at a time!

I think you can do alot of good being there and making someone feel comfortable in a place they normally wouldn't. We all deserve to shop wherever we feel sexy!

PS> You are NOT fat and NOT unattractive!

Deleted the rest to save space, but I'm glad you got fitted :) They can do it over your shirt if you are uncomfortable with that, they will just accommodate that in their measurements. I'm sure their panties will fit you! You certainly look like they would. And I don't think you should refrain from buying something because you are afraid of how you will look for others. You don't buy sexy things for other people, you buy them for yourself first.

And thank you! I assure you, I am nearly 300 pounds, I am definitely fat! lol. I don't think it's bad or good, it's just what I am for now. And I don't think I'm completely unattractive I guess...just kinda average! The gals there are so far above average, though! lol. Thank you though, you're very sweet!

First, congrats on the new position! Second, I don't see why it should matter what size you are. If they sell your size and you like thier product, it's your money. Spend it where ever you feel like spending it.

I think having a plus-sized sales associate will make the larger women feel more comfortable shopping there.

    THIS^

I have not stepped foot in a VS in years. I went there when I was almost thin and they said they didnt carry my size. They may have said they could order it but I was so mortified at that time I never have gone back into the store. I've always been too humiliated. They made me feel fat.

Didn't read all posts. I'm sure it's been said that you can't be discriminated for being "overweight" as you can't be discriminated for being all sorts of other things.

I get the VS catalog all the time and they have a big range of sizes. I have don't judge people that work at stores based on how they look (I mean, be presentable), I judge by the way they are attentive to me. Did they offer help? Did they help me? Did they ignore me and go help someone else instead? Every time I go to VS the employees there are super helpful. I love that store. I won't buy undies anywhere else!!!!

I'm glad to hear they've changed their way of doing business. I went in there years ago with my MIL who was overweight and they weren't very nice at VS.

VS and La Senza are the only two stores that carry my size. And they measured correctly and got the same measurement I got elsewhere for all you nay sayers. I would shop there if a serial killer met me at the door with a meat cleaver.... :)

Stores cannot stock every single size. If VS doesn't carry your size, go elsewhere. For me, thank god they stock a 32 DD, now that is an impossible size to find. Everything else can be found at Walmart.

Congrats on the job!!! :D I think it’s wonderful. I’d rather shop at places where all shapes and sizes are accepted. It’s a more down to earth atmosphere to be in and since I get really bad anxiety as far as shopping for clothes it’s nice to feel like I’m in a judge free zone. It makes me more comfortable.

Go you for getting that job! Ignore the world. Clearly they saw potential in you that you got the job. Now hold your head up when you start your training!

An update: had my first day today. It went awesome! Two more days of training and then I'm on my own!

A little back story: I recently (and I mean, so-recently-I-haven't-even-gone-to-training-yet recently) got hired at Victoria's Secret. Being nearly 300 pounds, I was surprised to have even gotten an interview since I applied with the manager in person. I thought surely, I won't make it to the second interview. Then I did. Looking at all the other women working there, I was absolutely positive I would not get hired after the interview with the store manager, who was probably no more than a size 6.

To my surprise, I did get hired. And not as a throwaway that they put in the back. I did well on my interview, and I got hired as a sales associate with no former sales experience...and being nearly 300 pounds. This is one of the best stores in the district, so on top of being fat, I had no experience. I thought that surely, if there was a company that discriminated against hiring fat people, it'd be them. Boy was I wrong! And I am so glad, because I love their store.

I've been doing some reading on VS. Experiences as an employee, good and bad reviews, what kind of customer base it has, etc. What interests (read: disgusts) me is that I'm finding a lot of posts and comments about how "fat girls should not be allowed in VS" and "fat girls should only shop at their plus sized stores" as well as "no one over 175 pounds should be able to shop there" and even "dear obese girl working at VS, thanks for ruining my shopping exerience" (and yes, that one was 'ruined' simply because the sales associate was 'too fat'.')

Before I ever stepped foot into that store, I never thought they would have anything that fit me. I was so embarrassed to get measured, but much to my delight the sales girl was wonderful and said though they don't carry sizes that large in store, she'd be happy to order it for me online or I could buy bra extenders. A lot of women have a problem with the fact that they don't carry certain sizes in store. I don't see the problem with this, and actually find it quite practical, if you've ever been in a VS and see how full everything always is.

My question is, what does everyone think of "fat girls" working/being at VS? If you walked in and saw a fat employee, would you be more comfortable knowing that it's at least a bit more diverse, or would you be turned off? Do you think they purposely don't cater to "fat girls"?

I'm just interested in this topic because I'm realizing that I'll probably experience a moderate amount of scoffs and sneers from certain shoppers simply for being fat. I was just wondering what other people think on the matter.

TL;DR: fat girls working/shopping at Victoria's Secret: 'go you' or 'find your own store'?

I'm a VS perfume *kitten* lol I love their scents and when/if I have the extra money it is one of the few places I can find bras that are comfortable that actually fit my DDD's I honestly don't care if the associates are fat/skinny/pretty/ugly as long as they treat me nice. And I don't concern myself with other shoppers there or anywhere else...apparently the store near by is one of the few that stock the bigger size bras.
