Hows the dress shopping coming along? I think I found BM dresses...what do you guys think? (its a day wedding FYI) http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=0f36bf2c-97c6-44e3-887d-7876f06209cd&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=2&colorId1=0 -
Cris: I love the BM dresses because the ladies can wear them again for other occasions and they're adorable! Which color are you thinking?
Today is passing SO slow that I'm sitting here yawning. Can't it be 4 yet?
I haven't heard anything about my car from the boyfriend, so I'm assuming all is going well or that he ended up working because they didn't get rained out. We'll see. I want my car to take me another 100,000 miles!!0 -
Hey Danielle,
You can do this. Don't let the 5lbs get you down, we all know it's not 5 lbs of fat put on in one week.
Because I'm nosy and you were saying how you ate poorly this week, I nosed around in your diary and I have a suggestion.
:blushing: Sorry in advance for the unsolicited advice :blushing:
I think that you will see a loss if you cut back on your sugar intake (yep, those juices have got to go :brokenheart: ) so I'm sending you a personal challenge this week to stick within 50 grams of sugar each day in the coming week - starting today. I'll do the same because my sugar intake has been too high lately as well.
Will you do this together with me?
So I had typed a whole long answer to this and then we got busy at work and by the time I got back to it I was timed out! :grumble: stupid work!
SO anyway meook-don't worry about apologizing for "unsolicited" advice. If I'm here I'm asking for it! So go ahead and share anything even if it's a slap in the face (cuz I need it sometimes!)
I can *try* to not drink energy drinks, but I'm not sure how realistic that could be. I would drink coffee, but it smells like urine to me....I know it's odd but when I'm pregnant, and I guess breastfeeding coffee smells like urine. And really nasty urine, like a foul tomcat or something! Just bad that I can't drink it. I have managed to get a cup down here and there at home. My hubby does something to it so it's not as bad. But anyway I was continuously falling asleep at work, not sure why but I'm guessing it's a side effect of being so overweight and breastfeeding and having a baby that wants to sleep with me! So was having a hard time drinking coffee so I started drinking my energy drinks. When I started with MFP I switched to sugar free, but then noticed that the sodium was high in those and 2 or 3 weeks ago when I started monitoring my sodium more I switched to the regular ones and decided to just take the "empty" calories. It is a lot of sugar, and I hate that but I really don't know what else to do at this point to help me stay awake at work without caffeine....and tea isn't an option  hate the stuff!0 -
I've been lurking all day...just haven't had anything worthwhile to say!
Cris, love the dress and I think it's funny that they show it with a jean jacket. It's like, look, you really could wear this again! My BM dresses were Alfred Angelo too... http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=a1c99ee0-bc6e-42f8-b90b-4c2230ad2daf&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=1&colorId1=453bde57-e3d7-449b-9f89-0d4387ce8bbc Guess they are still making them!
Meokk, congrats on checking stuff off your list!
Purple, that's great you've been cleared for exercise. Swimming is the best - good exercise, relaxing, cooling! And WTG on the 15 lbs since July 4!
Deb, Congrats on your big loss this week!
Realized I didn't check in from yesterday. I'm over by a bit because I caved to my Chinese food craving. Ah well, at least I had been "good" the rest of the day, so that wasn't as awful as it could have been.
Cals: 1350
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: Walked a measly mile
Proud: Eh...wish I could have handled the Chinese craving a bit better. Oh well. That was yesterday, today is a new day.
So I weighed in on my scale at home today and saw 177. Actually, I saw 178.5, 175, 176, and 177. Stupid unreliable scale! This 17X business is freaking awesome, but I'm not sure if it's accurate. My scale has been known to be about 3.5 lbs under, but has also known to be right on. I'm going to hold off on posting an official weight until I get the chance to weigh in on my usual scale.0 -
Day from Hell.
I'm having "Fat Friday" when I get home from work. All planned. All within calories. All really really bad.
And tomorrow is "Fatterday" which is to be headed off with lots of exercise of some kind (either gym or state park hiking. I really want to go to one about an hour north of my mom's house (about 2.5 hours from my house) but I need to check the weather & will have to convince the hubs to get up before noon to actually do it (in his defense, he'll probably work until 1-2am tonight & he can never go to sleep right when gets home).
I really want to do the state park thing because 1 - I've never been to this one (http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/park-finder/state-park/962.aspx) 2 - I love birding and hiking and nature photographyand I haven't been since I've been in good shape. If I loved it huffing and puffing and chafing, how much would I love it feeling good?! And 3 - It's not the gym and I love a good break from routine.
Cris -- I really like the BM dress! I would personally be very very very uncomfortable in it because of the length. Though as previously noted -- I have issues.
Lauren -- I think 17? is when I'm going to start feeling like I'm at kind of a normal weight. 174.8 marks non obesity (according to stupid bs bmi, I know) for me so.... yeah. I'll probably cry. :laugh:0 -
elmox-Congrats on the 170's! And your bridesmaid dresses were beautiful! What color were they?
Cris-I love love LOVE your dresses! What color are yours going to be?
Purple-That's great news on the go ahead to exercise!! Your gonna start dropping those pounds off!
Heather-Another 100,000 miles!? What kinda car do you have!? I know it's not a Ford! Those fall apart at about 80-100K LOL I know because that's all I've ever owned! I bet it's a Saturn! I'm with you on the clock just ticking away slowly! I'm ready for 4 so I can go pick up my friend and get headed to Oklahoma. And my cousin still wants to go out tonight. ACK! I'm gonna need an energy drink? Danielle any suggestions!?0 -

To be honest I'd consume 250mg of sodium over 70 grams of sugar per drink any day especially when you might have 2 in one day.
Since I don't consume caffeinated drinks as a rule I don't have any good alternative ideas - Can anyone else think of alternatives for Danielle?0 -

My "overweight" BMI is 164 and my healthy is 136.7:sad:0 -
Cris - love the dresses , they actually could be worn again, very rare
I'm going to get a custom made dress so my first appointment is on Tuesday and I just show up with photos of dresses that I like for inspiration....so excited and I don't even like dresses !!!! It's like project runway !!!!!
LilSpy - love the new day of the week "Fatterday" I'm using it in a sentence asap
Me and you are the same height & I just reached "overweight" last week and guess what - I still feel quite fat  BUT the good news is that I no longer feel uncomfortable. It's a strange old process. When I was 225 or 200 I would have killed to be 173 but now I am dying to lose the final 40lbs and couldn't fathom stopping at 173.
That feeling of being watched or stared at is leaving me, I can fit into very small seats, but I'm far from ready for a bathing suit in public.0 -

Well, they do make caffeine in pill form. I'm not sure in what amounts and I know you want to limit caffeine while breastfeeding so Danielle would want to check the amounts of caffeine in the pills.
I'm with meokk. In this particular case, I'd take the sodium and fake sugar over all the extra sugar and calories, too. Or I'd find another way to stay awake (eating excess sugar actually makes me very tired, by the way). Sodium has WAY less effect on your weight and even your health in general assuming you don't have heart problems or very high blood pressure (and maybe even then, too). When you take those empty calories, you're skimping on nutrition. And that's no good, especially for a nursing mother. :flowerforyou:0 -
Oh BMI....at 180.4, I'm at a 30.0 BMI, which means I'm boderline obese and overweight. I'll take that. However, I am quick to not measure my worth or loss based on BMI. But with that, nice to know I'm "just" overweight.
Jess, my dresses were pretty much that link. A light green (pistachio) with a light pink sash and trim. As pretty as they are, my bridesmaids have likely not worn them again. My SIL was a bridesmaid and used her shoes from my wedding when she got married. I thought that was pretty cool.
Meook, I'm with you on the "When I was 225 or 200 I would have killed to be 173 but now I am dying to lose the final 40lbs and couldn't fathom stopping at 173." I'm not at 173 yet, but I'm happy to be at 180. I also know that I'm not stopping at 180! I've got 30 more lbs to go and these puppies are coming off!0 -
Happy Saturday all! It's great getting up and reading the pages of posts you have all written. Jumped on the scale this a.m. to a point two pound loss - double yesterday. That makes the week from last Saturday 2.2 lbs.
I was under the impression that BMI is a lot of bunk - I'm aiming for 165 lbs, which I have not been since my 20s, but the BMI says I would have to be 154 lbs to be "healthy". I don't think I've been that since my teens, and I was skinny hot chick in my 20s! Of course, I doubt BMI calculates for DD cup boobs (which I've already informed hubby will probably drop back to D's once I've lot the extra weight - that's the only part he's less than impressed with).
Cris - congrats on the 191! You will break the 190's by the end of the month for sure. Hopefully I'll join you on that one.
Lildebbie - well done on to your hubby on the raise! Nobody is getting 7% raises in any industry right now, so he's obviously doing a wonderful job. Good on his employers for recognizing and rewarding that.
Julie - Sounds like you've had some great ego boosts this week!! Richly deserved I'm sure
Jess - love the tacos for breakfast - don't worry about feeling bloated, that's just the beans. You'll be jet propelled all day!
In a suprise to nobody, it's another Melbourne winter "Winnie the Pooh" type day (blustery and rainy). I've got a few hours work to do this morning as I'm flying to Perth for two days on Monday (hate working Saturdays but deadlines are deadlines) then I'm going to drive into the gym before an afternoon of poker. DH finally gets home from his conference tonight, but suspect he'll be so burned out he won't be able to form sentances.
Have a great day all!0 -
THANKS FOR THE NICE COMMENTS!! I really really want a dress they can wear again, people always say yea they can wear it again, but really...where?! Id wear that dress to someone else's wedding as a guest or to a nice dinner or something...just throw on a jean jacket, lol
My color scheme is purple so the dresses will be a plum color (since itll be fall)
Lauren- I love that BM dress!!! very cute! that green was kind of the green I was going for when my wedding was planned for April! Congrats on the 170s! Im oh so jealous
Danielle- I find that a lot of the fatigue was not from lack of caffeine (I was drinking 1l of soda aday to get mine in) it was just from being overweight and eating crap. When I started eating better, excercising, and eating normal portions I wasnt nearly as tired..just my 2cents
b back later
love u gurls have a good wekeend if i dont "see" you0 -
oh one more thing on the BM dress- my sister (MOH) specifically asked me to get a dress with straps because shes been a bridesmaid several times and she said the strapless makes it hard to dance in cause your pulling your dress up the entire night...so that kind of knocked out a lot of cute choices a lot of BM dresses are strapless0

Hello! OK so I haven't done a great job checking in this week... but I just went back and did the best I could with my food diary :ohwell:
Cris - LOVE THE DRESS!
So yesterday George (Ken's dad) was being taken to the local hospital for, uhm... (overshare) diarrhea that was pretty bad. On the way his BP dropped out of the readable range so they redirected the ambulance to Akron (nearest city). He went to Summa, a really good heart hospital and they thought he was having a major coronary event, but after rehydrating him he perked up and his heart was not showing signs of a heart attack - just funky. But they wanted us to make end of life decisions which indicated that the doctors weren't as impressed with his perky attitude as we were. Today he's in 'step down' which is basically a step down from intensive care, and he's doing fine. I'm hoping he'll just keep proving everyone wrong and get better in a few days.
Meanwhile- Meghan has moved in. She's still working a summer job up on Lake Erie but that's just weekends now. I'm trying to get her into the school system in Kent and we're still working to get legal documents signed by her parents so we can enroll her! She's amazing! We love having her around! Today she was home bored so she did all the dishes and helped our house mate get a batch of homemade wine going. Seriously. Yeah. Talk about BLESSED!
OK I've got to get back to work (love lvoe love lvoe my job)
Miss you guys!
:flowerforyou:  :drinker:0 -
Check in
calories, under...I feel so bloated I don't feel like eating. I have only had 4 cups of water and 1/2 a pretzel all day
water, more later when kids break fast
exercise, none...too tired and bloated
proud, stayed on track
have a great weekend girls!
Laila0 -
Cris-I kind of figured the fatigue was from being so overweight. I am waiting for my body to "reset" and be used to eating healthier and to lose some significant weight so I can at least stay awake through an 8 hour shift at work!
I have no problems staying awake at home, but I can be up and active. I have a sit down job and it is kind of hit and miss on when we are busy. Sometimes I sit here and read all evening long and can literally read myself to sleep.
meokk-I don't typically drink 2 energy drinks per day, I did yesterday. But that is very rare! One is usually more than enough for me but sometimes on extremely slow days especially after lack of sleep I nod off (and yesterday I did and my head actually hit my desk! not a great way to wake up) especially since there is a "no tolerence" for sleeping which is kind of a "duh" statement but my boss doesn't like me (she's actually said, i don't like you) so I have to be careful.
lilspy-I don't think I'd take caffeine pills. like you said I'm not sure how much caffeine is in them and the 1 can of energy drink is equivalent to 2 cups of coffee, so my doctor says it's ok for nursing.
So anyway, meokk, yes I'll take your challenge and eliminate as much sugar as possible. I can switch to the sugar free drinks again and limit my sodium in other ways.
Thanks everyone for the support and suggestions. :flowerforyou:0 -
HI MELINDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0
-
So good to see you, Melinda!
I avoided all lifting and bending today so that my back would not hurt badly. That was NOT easy to do, lemme tell ya! I've been walking a little bit, but tomorrow I am going to try to walk for a longer time. Wish me luck! :ohwell:
Now if I can stop overeating (a new Pity Party For One habit I just picked up this week...:grumble: ), things will be looking up!
Cris - dresses are adorable!
Lauren - yours were, too!
Everyone - Love you and hope you have a wonderful weekend! Make it count!0 -
Melinda -- Meghan sounds wonderful. If you get tired of her (yeah right), send her my way. Our dish situation is out of control and we've got all kinds of home brew equipment just sitting around going to waste. I'm sure she'd love to see the Appalachians & the Atlantic, right? I'm a quick 1.5 hour zip up I-26 from both. SC is a gorgeous state (um... geographically speaking, at least )!!
Danielle -- I think it's great you're taking on meokk's challenge! The sugar thing is a tough one for me, too since I do love fruit & dairy (oh, and candy ). One other thing I wanted to mention is that when I was a vegetarian in my late teens/early 20s & wasn't getting a good deal of protein, I was flirting with hypoglycemia which made me really tired, especially when I consumed too many carbs & too much sugar. I also struggled with anemia then which made me feel really fatigued & weak as well. So MORE PROTEIN! I try (and usually fail) for 30% protein in my diet. When I was eating what MFP initially recommends (15%) I was feeling tired. When I increased it (I *usually* get in a little over 100g/day. Not today though, and guess what, I feel like tired crap), I really started feeling better and stronger. Just one more thing to consider while you're tweaking your diet to find what combo makes you feel best.
Nancy -- Glad to stopped by to say "hi" today! :flowerforyou:
Cris -- LOVE the purple wedding. Plumish purple is so the way I would wanted to go had I been into that whole wedding thing. So pretty and classy!0 -
OK Danielle - you're on !!!! I scarfed down 44 grams of sugar in one form or another do day 1 under 50 done, 6 more to go :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
Mstahl - Lovely to see you. Sorry about George's health but happy to hear about Megan.
Take care of yourself Blue !!!!!!

I forgot to tell you guys........
My lovely fiancee surprised me with a gift earlier in the week - he got me a HRM - what a sweetie He knows I've been wanting one for a while and I had a rough few days earlier in the week so that really cheered me up.

well I already blew it for today...but we'll try again tomorrow0 -
Meokk: That's so awesome your sweetie got you an HRM! Sounds like a keeper to me! I'm pretty proud of myself but I "accidentally" stayed under 50 g sugar today, so there's a plus.
Cris: I love that dress in purple. So cute and appropriate for fall. I never used to like purple or pink much but lately I've been buying both colors.
Lauren: I also love most shades of green, so your dresses were super adorable, too!
Jess: You made me laugh because, yes, my car is a Saturn. A 2007 Saturn Ion 3 to be exact. She just rolled over to 100,000 miles the other day. I'm bummed because the part we ordered is the wrong one (eBay seller sent the wrong one), so now I have to wait a few days to get the new one. Bf also thinks I need a CV shaft or sway bar, which is why the car has been making the clunking noise. Boo! But, these are the first repairs I've had to do, so I can't complain. I drive a ton and so far it's been a super reliable car. I'm so sad Saturns are no longer being made and that the dealerships will be closed in two months
Mstahl: I miss you, but am glad things are going well and that Meghan is awesome! My thoughts are with your family and George. Hopefully he turns around for the better.
Nancy: I'm hoping your back gets better soon. Get over the Pity Party and get back to watching the calories. You can still lose without the exercise until you're feeling better. I haven't worked out in a week and am still losing, so you can too!!0 -

I will try and up my protein. I have to say when I started it seemed like I was getting a lot of protein every day, around 100g. But now lately I've been seriously low. I don't know how to add more protein with food. But I did a medical weight loss program a while ago and still have "food" left over. And each serving has 15g of protein. Plus it's all low calorie so that'll help a lot. I'll try by adding those things to my diet and try to eliminate my energy drinks all together. My hubby would be so happy! It's like buying a pack and a half of cigarettes a week, so he'd be happy with the increase in cash.
Thanks everyone!!0 -
Oh yeah I might as well check in now....
Calories: Under total 1420
Sugar: 131 :blushing:
Water: 120oz :drinker: 2 days in a row!!
Excercise: nothing
Proud: hmmmm0 -
Here's my nightly check-in
Calories: 1496 (about 500 under...just wasn't hungry today)
Water: about 50 oz
Exercise: a whopping 15 or so minutes...then I needed a nap!
Proud: getting back into the exercising routine, even if it's less than I would normally be able to do. Just getting out there and doing it is important!
Hope you ladies have a great day tomorrow.0 -
So, I was right when I couldn't stop eating everything in sight the other day - TOM showed up last night. Yuk.
Just posting this link for all of you that I saw on another thread. Very interesting to see what other women of your height look like at different weights:
http://www.mybodygallery.com/index.html0 -
meokk - I saw that link in the other thread and really enjoyed checking it out. I like having a rough visual of what I'll look like as the weight falls off! The only bummer is that I'm 5'11", so there aren't many pictures of women that height.
Danielle - there are lots of foods that have significant protein - edamame/soybeans and greek yogurt are two that pop to mind immediately, so maybe check those out? They're both healthy and I use them frequently to up my protein intake.
Cris - that is a really cute bridesmaid dress...I wish more of my friends picked dresses like that!!
Nancy - Heather is right - I had surgery 2 weeks ago and still lost another 2-3 pounds with no exercise. I just carefully watched the food I ate. If I can do it, so can you!
So far my Saturday is going well...eating is under control and I re-did part of Week 1 of Couch to 5K. I ran 6 of the 9 minutes and walked 20, so while I didn't complete the full day, I'm pretty excited about that. The school gym is closed until classes start again next week, so I ran outside for the first time in ages. It was pretty hot and I just was too tired to do the whole thing. Hopefully I can get back to where I was soon - I had finished week 2 right before surgery.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!0 -
That link is pretty cool. Thanks!0
