in before the butthurt and buttload of excuses
Might be too late for that lol :laugh:0 -
Incidentally, eating under maintenance is not sufficient for most people with PCOS to lose weight.
I wasn't able to lose a pound until I saw a bariatrician (weight-loss doctor, not surgeon) who limited my calories to literally half of my TDEE, strictly limited my carbs, and gave me a challenging protein goal.
This "complication" is my reality... and I make progress every day.0 -

true. I only read the OP before I responded and then read some of the butthurt after.0 -
I see threads all the time on here with some crazy nonsense like "eat 6 small meals a day" or here's a funny one "gaining weight after I quit smoking" the list goes on though.
Smoking - You will not gain weight if you quit smoking unless you binge eat after quitting, that's all there is to it.
Losing weight is very easy - Just eat under your maintenance and do cardio, hell you don't even need to do cardio to burn fat, you can do it all through diet. I recommend you do some type of cardio though for your heart.
Gaining muscle - Eat over your maintenance by anywhere from 200-500 calories, while lifting 3-4x a week and you will gain muscle, unless you have super low testosterone levels.
Losing fat and gaining muscle - Lift while you lose weight. If you feel like you don't have enough muscle when you lose the fat, then eat at a low surplus like 200-300 calories over maintenance for a few months. Then cut fat again, it's really that simple.(just posted this last part in another thread)
You honestly don't even need to eat super clean foods like rice and chicken every meal to lose weight, Although it will probably make you feel better. I don't want people to be turned off from fitness and being healthy because of this stuff.

In a perfect world of robot dieters, I'd agree 100% with this post. Unfortunately, I live in an imperfect world. It's more complicated here.0 -
Edit: ^ it's not much more complicated than that. srs
And how does this thread have anything to do with OP being young? It's the truth...0 -

There is a lot of butthurt in this thread0 -

This man knows^0 -
Pretty sure this thread was not intended for people that have been diagnosed with hormonal issues and other medical problems. It's towards the people that haven't even been to a doctor and say they can't lose weight while they continue eating over their maintenance.
Edit: I'll be back in a little bit to rustle more jim jams with the truth0 -

I on the other hand will be happy to buy you a plane ticket to come here and see if you have the nerve to say that to someone I know.
Buy me a plane ticket too. Me and op will both go. Pensacola is the closest airport to me. I'm off till Tuesday. I will be glad to have a sit down conversation with you and your family.
OPs advice applies to the VAST majority of people.
Size isn't everything in a fight.0 -

You are a special case- where people like you are about 5-10% of adult women. The OP is talking about the majority of individuals.0 -

How does this thread have anything to do with OP being young? It's the truth...
The tone and approach of this thread indicates it was created by a child.
seeing stuff like that daily can wear down on a person when they won't listen to help lol0 -
I won't deny that the original post is true, but I will say that I think that the OP has yet to face any of life's major difficulties given how judgmental it came across.0
-
Not to be argumentative, but my doctor told me years ago when I quit smoking that even if I didn't eat one extra calorie, I will gain at least a small amount of weight after quitting due to the fact my heart is not having to use as much energy to pump blood through my piss poor circulatory system (caused by smoking). So technically, you can gain weight from quitting smoking without binge eating.0

You still haven't discussed those with chronic illnesses that either the illness itself makes it difficult or the medications taken for it do. Just Google to see full lists of illnesses and medications that affect weight and weight loss. What you are saying in it's simplest form is true but nothing is always that simple for everyone. Your attitude is dismissing to all of the people that do have the stack dealt against them. It is not always a matter of lack of drive, will power, or common sense.0

Whoha- you agreeing or disagreeing with OP? one minute you want to buy him a plane ticket and say this to your face, now it seems like you agree.
Buy me a plane ticket and I'll come up and tell you if OP does not0 -

lol "super clean foods like rice and chicken"
Everything else, I TOTALLY AGREE and well said, someone needed to say it FINALLY. But rice and chicken being clean.... chicken? God no0 -
well holy craps why haven't you been discovered?0

I agree to a point, but I also know that there is no possible way I would have maintained my weight loss for over 20 years without exercise. So, sure, you can lose weight without exercise. But if you wanna lose fat, look good, and KEEP THAT WEIGHT OFF for a lifetime, you gotta move!0

I lol'd when I read that, too. Rice. :laugh:0 -
I really do not care for the attitude in the beginning comment. My father quit smoking and gained weight--yes he ate more but nicotine is an appetite suppressant. If you do not have that nicotine to control your appetite, you will eat more and gain weight. That is simple AND TRUE. I'm a PharmD. student and aren't going to spew things that aren't true.
Secondly, I thought people joined this site not to bash each other. I believe MANY of us on here have weight issues and are confused about how to lose it in a healthy way. So being such a crabapple about it doesn't help anyone. If you are such a pro and the rest of are losers, find a different site to share your heavenly wisdom with.0 -

that's the split personality kicking in don't ya know?0 -
Age doesn't necessarily equate to wisdom, and it's ignorant to assume so.
In this case, it's extremely likely the OP's perspective will change as he ages. Can call it wisdom or whatever you like.0
