How does one backpedal when what they say is still the exact same.

The OP, in the very post that use quoted which makes it lolsy, says mean sure your metabolism is much slower than mine. which is a obvious acknowledgement that age/different levels of metabolism do matter. He acknowledged that the body changes as it ages, but that doesn't change the basic principal.

You're right. Losing weight is not difficult for most people.

Keeping it off is. So the research says....

That has a lot to do with fad diets and people not understanding how the body works. People that follow what's in the OP generally keep it off.

    ya.. u jelly

I'm confused? Was this created to help people or to be sarcastic and mean? You may have valid points but its very broad and doesn't begin to cover the many different variables out there. Can we just say that yes, if the person in question is general healthy, strong willed and physically capable of keeping up with it than your advice is helpful? I think your generally poopy attitude is mainly whats discrediting you. Cheer up dude, it's not worth attacking people who are trying to make the right choice and struggling. We all struggle from time to time.

If you read through the rest of the thread you will realize that it is meant to help people. Some people need to be shaken out of the false reality they live in.

Many people starting out were not generally "healthy", strong willed or even physically capable of keeping up with a fit person. BUT, his advice isn't just for the fit. His advice actually applies to everyone (minus those with medical conditions). It's valid advice and some of the best that gets touted around here.
  • Ah, the arrogance of youth having all the answers. Like we haven't seen this many times before. Like we weren't in your shoes many years ago when we were the ones with all the answers. And in 30-40 years when you in our shoes and you know you won't have all the answers.

Time is the great equalizer. We've seen this play before.

So very true . . . I remember when I had all the answers too.

The tone and approach of this thread indicates it was created by a child.

That is what scorches my tortillas. It's not what is said, because it is true ( even though there was no use for posting something that is common knowledge in this community for the 4227th time), but what bothered me was the tone.
We are not all idiots that must be told over and over again, but many of us have a hard time to manage this new " lifestyle " after often decades of nutritional self abuse. But to recognize that one needs a certain amount of maturity, which is missing in much what is posted.

Goodness I hope when I get old I don't become so arrogant that I dismiss reasonable things just because of someone's age.

    People in this thread,

You may be older than me and have more wisdom about life and everything that comes with it, but i can guarantee you that very few people in this thread would know more about training or nutrition than me. I don't understand why all of you have to complicate everything. If I was 40 years old would you take what I say as a fact and not even question it? If so I feel sorry for you.

Generally, age does not always bring wisdom. It takes more than just getting old to be wise.

I agree w/ OP of this thread.

I also agree with this post.

These two things are not mutually exclusive.

    Anyhow, I'm in...

...because I'm certain this thread went places in its 11 pages...

...and I hope to catch up.

    Cliffs

Me, OP, and a few others clear up our points that may have been misunderstood in the first few posts
Many of the older people in the thread are still talking about OP being younger than them

If I learned one thing in this thread,
it's that I hope I die before I grow so old that I turn senile and delusional with my head stuck up so far up my own buttocks
