Note to Miley Cyrus.....

  • I think she is trying way to hard to distance herself from Hannah Montana and trying to prove that she is an adult now but making herself look like a tit in the process.

My advice would be..........just get on a make your home porn film that "accidentley" gets leaked on the the internet then get over yourself and get on with your life. :)
  • I think its odd that Miley is getting so much critisizm for this...yet the singer she performed with was also acting "lewdly" and nobody mentions HIM. Oh wait..he's a GUY...he's "allowed" to express his sexuality and be slutty and it's OK...

He still had his clothing on from what I saw. Miley was in bra and panties, unflattering bar and panties ontop of that, with horrible dance moves. I'm sure people would talk about him if he came out in his underwear stroking himself with a huge foam finger.

concerning blurred lines: i don't see it as a rape song, and i'd say i'm pretty entitled to my opinion. what i get from "blurred lines", is a girl who is not the right fit in her current relationship and robin thicke likes her..maybe they are flirting and digging on each other or whatever.

That's how I read it too. I think some people are reading WAY too much between the lines to try to make it something it isn't. Is it stellar writing? Uh, no. Is it a fun song with a good beat that's enjoyable to listen to in the car? Yep.

I think I'll agree to disagree...but your right, I probably shouldn't have made the comment about her butt. Mines not perfect either, but she is behaving very badly. Her behavior is trashy. I understand she wants to grow up and move away from her childhood "Hannah Montana" image, but she does have the potential perform and sing with some talent. Not all child stars have had to take the path she is taking....

It really is a turn off to see her behaving this way.

It's not cute, it's not attractive (it's ugly and disgusting)...and I certainly don't see her as a role model for ANY AGE, Hannah Montana, Miley or NOT.

I am sure if you went in public acting like this people would say the same. She was brought up better than that.

I don't think the shorts that ended at her colon helped her butt any.
  • Real talent does not require a person to go to such lengths to get noticed. Please take a look at how many records Adele has sold. :) "By 2013, the album [21] had sold 26.4 million copies worldwide"

Way to go Adele! A woman with real talent and respect for herself!!

    th?id=H.5061568496010312&pid=15.1

Just to point out, Adele is no saint, she curses every time she opens her mouth...If you've never heard her at an award ceremony look it up. Nobody is perfect. A lot of people suffering from 'The Madonna/*kitten*' complex in this thread. Different people are different and that's okay. And women who are comfortable with their own sexuality are not necessarily slags or *kitten* or any other nasty derivative of that.

The point is not that Adele is a saint and Miley Cyrus isn't. The point is that Adele's talent can stand on its own without shock value. She doesn't curse to get attention. She curses because its part of her personality and not her personna. Are you going to tell me that Miley just sits around at home in flesh-colored patent leather bikinis twerking on crotches with her tongue hanging out? You truly think there is a legitimate comparison there?

Exactly! I really can care less if Adele curses or not, she puts out good music that stands on its own and doesn't do shock tactics/horrible performances that draws attention away from her music. If Miley does have talent then she should not put on an act that is going to cover up that talent and that is all she is doing right now which is going to make people think she has no talent.

And to think I actually work hard to write my own music for our band and be a respected musician.

I'm a woman, of course, all I need to do is take my clothes off and act like a wh*re!

Gonna try it at my next gig...

You also need to make sure you have the foam finger...yeah...can't do it without the foam finger...

Oh yeah, gotta get one on order... How I plan to play my instrument while I hump said foam finger is another matter...

She was all around terrible. The singing was awful, her dancing was awkward, and the choreography was bizarre. Robin Thicke was no better... I'd like to say that the freak show Cyrus was putting on threw him off, but he was pitchy and fell behind when he performed on America's Got Talent too. That's the problem with music today, it's just not done well. They rely on vocal processors and digital editing to hit the notes. Instead of lyrics they make noise over computer generated tones, all the while relying on catchy imagery to entertain you. No one can really argue the entertainment value of that performance though. We've been talking about it for days, and we have hilarious jokes, meme's and gifs because of it. As far as the singing and dancing goes it was crap, but I am still enjoying the performance after the performance. Face it, we're not going to hear a 'Stairway to Heaven', or a 'Bohemian Rhapsody' out of either one of these two well-marketed hacks, but they put on a truly epic clown show.

These gif's are just getting better and better. I haven't been on mfp since yesterday afternoon so, I got about 30 minutes of laughing to catch up on.

Side note.....heard them still talking on national news this morning and I will have to agree that Miley is getting exactly what she set out to do on the VMA's......get attention. I just want to see if in a year if this moment raised or lowered her stock. JMO

It’s our party we can do what we want
It’s our party we can say what we want
It’s our party we can love who we want
We can kiss who we want
We can screw who we want

Red cups and sweaty bodies everywhere
Hands in the air like we don’t care
Cause we came to have so much fun now
Bet somebody here might get some now
If you’re not ready to go home
Can I get a "hell no"?
Cause we gonna go all night
Till we see the sunlight, alright

So la-da-di-da-di we like to party
    Dancing with Molly
    Doing whatever we want
    This is our house
    This is our rules
    And we can’t stop
    And we won’t stop
Can’t you see it’s we who own the night?
Can’t you see it we who bout’ that life

    And we can’t stop
    And we won’t stop
We run things, things don’t run we
    Don’t take nothing from nobody

To my homegirls here with the big butt
Shaking it like we at a strip club
Remember only God can judge ya
Forget the haters, cause somebody loves ya
And everyone in line in the bathroom
Trying to get a line in the bathroom
We all so turnt up here
    Getting turnt up yea yea

It’s our party we can do what we want to!
It’s our house we can love who we want to!
It’s our song we can sing if we want to!
It’s my mouth I can say what I want to
    Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Eh!

"RED CUPS" that alcohol, dears. "MOLLY" that's the purest form of ECSTASY. "SCREW WHO WE WANT"...lol yeah, you do that.

Dancing teddy bears and a drunk bear leotard. That girl is on some good *kitten*! These are her lyrics plus her nasty tongue hanging out and her rear everywhere. I am by far not team miley.

Can I get a raise of hands at how many parents would be proud to say that their child, especially daughters, act like Miley does??

No more proud then if my daughter was a stripper, or a porn star.

    But she's an adult...

18 is the age when a child becomes an adult, correct?

If my kid (technically Adult Child-child as in my child-) is 20yo and doing her own thing, I won't be ashamed. Hell, there are worse kids that parents don't even have a clue of what their kids are doing. I was lucky to have parents who kinda let me swing my own thing for a few years until I found my own. Either way, as long as my child isn't in danger or dangering others, they can do what they want.

Also, since this is still going on, obviously Miley did what she wanted to do which is get people talking. People gave her crap about twerking in her video and her tongue so she just up the ante and went with it. So Miley is the ultimate troller. She trolled the VMA's pretty hard. LOL

Plus Miley's been tonguing for a while:

I might be old school but, your child is always going to be your child no matter if they are 6 or 46

Her album on preorder is doing well and her song is on the Top 10 itunes list still. Think she is doing alright on her stock no matter what.

Yeah, I heard that's one explanation he came up with after being called out on the song sounding rape-y. I'm skeptical, given that they were supposed to be high school sweethearts, but whatever. Personally, I don't care how much he wants to dehumanize his wife in private, I don't have to like it. Does Eminem's song about Kim become any less troubling because it's about his ex-wife? Doesn't that kind of make it even creepier?

I'm not familiar with the Eminem song to which you're referring so I won't speak to that. I think the whole thing was more of a tongue-in-cheek tribute to an old Marvin Gaye song; it's unfortunate that you're trying to put so much meaning and emphasis into a... pop song.

I would also suggest that some females feel the song is sexually empowering. We've already covered the keys vs. locks double standard for sexuality in men and women, and how women are often looked down upon for embracing sexuality since they're supposed to be innocent/demure/whatever. Before reading a lot of projected opinions from easily-offended ears, I thought this song was more along the lines of "I hate these blurred lines (about sexuality) because they make it difficult for you (a woman) to enjoy the act without feeling guilty."

Just throwing this gif in here for the goodtimes.

I read somewhere her performance got more that 300,000 tweets per minute. By comparison last year the VMAs peaked at 98,300 per minute and the Super Bowl black out was 230,000.

I think both her and MTV walked away from that winners

    I hate these blurred lines
    I know you want it
    I hate them lines
    I know you want it

...Yeah, that's totally a consensual sounding situation. o.O "Blurred Lines" is quite literally about the "blurred line" between non-consent and consent. Because, you know, she wants it. Oh, and STELLAR writing. Totally a real deal with lyrics like those. There is a major difference between being sexual and being degrading. "Tried to domesticate you"? Yeah, sorry, not a dog. I don't need someone to domesticate me.

Have you read all the lyrics? It's not the singer trying to "domesticate" the girl, the current boyfriend she clearly wants to leave tried to.
I have. It's followed with "but you're an animal, baby it's in your nature." The point is not which person is trying to "domesticate" the woman, it's the use of the metaphor as demeaning to the woman it addresses.

You do know the song is about his wife and how she was very angelic when first married and slowly he brought the freak out in her?

As far as his wife worrying about this according to reports she had no issue and knew what was going to happen as there were rehearsals

Yeah, I heard that's one explanation he came up with after being called out on the song sounding rape-y. I'm skeptical, given that they were supposed to be high school sweethearts, but whatever. Apples and oranges. Eminem's song Kim is about murdering his ex wife. There is no mistake about what the song is about. I dislike the song Blurred Lines, but comparing it to Kim makes no sense to me.

and yet everyone was so happy and applauded the dixie chicks when they had the song good bye earl
  • I absolutely love miley. her philosophy about life is that she doesnt care what people think. she went on stage with Robin (who by the way, rehersed that whole performance with her many times im sure) and they did what they wanted to do. the vmas isnt a concert for them- if she were performing a concert she would take it a lot more seriously but for the artists the vmas is fun for them. Justin timberlake said it best "if something like that didnt happen the vmas would be boring"
besides, mtv is not for kids honestly. i dont have children but if i did they would not be up late watching mtv music awards.
