*pushes my whole food beliefs on everyone in this topic*
Who do these people think they are, having the audacity to post their beliefs about food and nutrition on a food and nutrition message board???0 -
By definition, synthetic chemicals are not naturally occurring, and processed foods are loaded with them. I cannot think of any reason, why I would want to consume added chemicals, antibiotics, pesticides, hormones, and steroids. Their presence negates any enjoyment I may get out of their taste.
don't forget to insist to the doctors (if you ever find yourself in the hospital battling sickness or illness) that they NOT give you any "chemicals" that are not naturally occurring during the course of your treatment... just for the sake of intellectual consistency.0 -
I don't think one way or the other you can go wrong. If you like eating clean? EAT CLEAN (whatever that means to YOU) If you like eating dirty, eat "dirty" (again, whatever that means to you) As long as you don't demonize food to the point that if you have it "you've screwed your whole day/weekend/week etc) I don't really care how you eat. I am just glad I figured it out before "I screwed my day already..." I feel like I know where the goalposts are now and there is NOTHING that will stop me from reaching goal, cause I really can't do anything wrong other than quit moving towards it.0

All synthetic chemicals are bad, said no one.0 -
Did you find those links using Google?0 -

I'm curious how you would've survived before the advent of modern refrigeration. Basically everything was preserved before then.0 -
Unless you grow it yourself and eat it raw and dirty, everything you eat is processed. Can we get off this stupid binary now?
THANK YOU! Even organic foods have pesticides on them.0 -

Chemistry wasn't your strong point in school, eh?
We can concentrate them far more than found in nature, but by and large there are very, very, very few chemicals that are manmade that are not otherwise naturally occurring. Those few are in general extremely expensive, as easy to make chemicals are also easily made in nature. If we've figured out how to make a chemical that is stable at standard temperture and pressure,.....chances are nature has too.0 -

Any people out there who still eat processed sandwich meat and yet STILL enjoy the benefits of lifting heavy and seeing amazing results? Just curious. Thanks
Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt come to mind.0 -

By definition synthetic chemicals are not naturally occurring, yes. The rest of that sentence after the comma is not part of that definition though, nor is it strictly correct.
As for the second sentence, things like "antibiotics, pesticides, hormones, and steroids" are NOT added during processing. These, if used at all, will be used during growth of the crop/animal (and/or naturally occurring). So really not relevant to this thread.0 -
Me.
About the only 'heavy lifting' I do is my wine glass though ...0 -

No, I’m nowhere near as smart as you. I’ll tell you what, I’ll go behind the factory down the street, get a big bucket of the chemical waste that is barreled in the back, and you can drink a few cups of it. Its 100 percent natural chemicals! As long as its within your macros, you should be okay, bro…0 -
Interesting. I suppose natural "chemicals, antibiotics, pesticides, hormones, and steroids" are just fine though?
I'm curious how you would've survived before the advent of modern refrigeration. Basically everything was preserved before then.
You do realize there is a distinction between the use of these products in industrial farming versus other purposes, right?
If I didn't have a fridge available, I would need preservatives. But I do have one!!! So why would I want that crap in my food if I don't need it?0 -
