    Please count me in on this challenge

    I recently completed a cycle ride from London to Paris with my wife and I lost in the region of 6llbs in 4- 5 days, this sounds a long way to ride BUT my wife had never cycled that distance before and it was a great journey being able to cycle through the French countryside and then into Versaille http://en.chateauversailles.fr/homepage and then through the forests that surround Paris. Seeing the Eiffel tower for the first time while we were about 10 miles way from the centre of Paris was such a wonderful moment

    My advice to anyone beginning cycling is just start small, ride to the end of your street, road and back again and progress from there

    Well can't ride, at least for a couple days, but when I do it will have to be very light effort. Finally got my knee surgery done, and they said give it a day or two before getting back on. Still hoping I can do 4-5 miles a day, even if it is broken up to smaller runs.

    Get well! At least this should improve your riding, right? I broke my arm riding earlier this year and missed a month and a half; no way I'll make my annual goal. But I'm glad to be riding again.

    9/2 - 7.5 miles. Hot, but at least it was cloudy today.
    9/3 - rest day.
    9/4 - 5.2 miles.
    9/5 - 0 miles. Mowed instead.
    9/6 - 0 miles. Mowed instead.
    9/7 - 7 miles. Met a new person.
    9/8 - 4 miles and mowed for 30 minutes. :)
    9/9 - 5.6 miles.
    9/10 - 4.7 miles.
    9/11 - 3.9 miles. Hmmm. I think I need to reverse the current trend.
    9/12 - 0 miles. Just overwhelmingly fatigued today.

    Today marks the end of the second week of September. Currently sitting at 160km for the month so far, spread across 10 rides. All on a $99 mountain bike, most on gravel trails - would probably be at 300km with a real bike on real roads, lol.

    Well last week was a bad week for cycling. After mechanicals that kept me from riding Mon-Wed and personal commitments on Thurs-Fri, I was back on the bike yesterday for a 16 mile road ride on my Bianchi. Felt good to be out again and exercising. :)

    1st - 16.5mi
    2nd - 14.7mi
    3rd - Rest Day
    4th - I hate when work gets in the way!
    5th - 20.2 mi
    6th - Personal Day
    7th - 16.7 mi
    8th - 16.1 mi
    9th - 7.2 mi
    10th - Broken Bike :( Wheels to the shop to get rebuilt
    11th - Pickup wheels and flat after 1/2 mile. So no ride today. :/
    12th - Rain day
    13th - Personal day
    14th - 15.8 mi

    Total: 107.2 mi
    Goal: 150 mi
    Miles to go: 42.8 mi

    Yesterday I hit a new record- a 36.8- mile ride from Olathe to Lawrence, KS for MS. Add a little meandering around afterwards to find something to eat and explore the area, and it was probably close to 40. My odometer is acting a little wacky now so I'm not sure- the 36.8 is the official distance provided by the organizers.)

    It started out cold, but soon warmed up and never did get sweaty-hot.- a perfect day for a bike ride. The course went through Desoto and Eudora. I skipped the breakfast of pancakes and sausage (had had a banana and toast with peanut butter at
    home) and skipped the first rest stop completely. The course was mostly back roads, well-marked and with police directing traffic at a few key points. Unlike last month's 32-mile charity ride, there were very few traffic lights, and most of the uphills were right after downhills where you could get up a decent amount of momentum. I never did have to get off and walk my bike. I finally stopped in Desoto where my employer (a sponsor of the race) had set up lunch. It was about 9:30 but so what? I had a cheeseburger and half a jelly sandwich and continued on. (Other offerings included pickle juice. I'm not sure why that's considered healthy.)

    At Eudora, there was another rest stop and I had them take a picture of me, which I posted on FaceBook. I realized I
    was only about 8 miles away for the finish and was a bit disappointed. Now I'm wondering about doing a 50-mile ride!

    Weather permitting, of course..

    all this blasted yard work is seriously putting a dent into my riding time. I have about 5 full days of work left to do but it is looking like rain/storm for the next 3 days. May have to do some stationary riding

    Felt great on the bike today. 31 miles and a PR for distance and time in the saddle \o/
    I can see my fitness level increasing for sure. Avg HR keeps going down while the avg speed keeps going up. Add to that longer rides and I am more than pleased with my progress :)
