    I don't know why the link isn't working ... here's the story:

Symptoms started pretty early for me, bloody show for over a week, painful contractions on and off for about a week. On Thursday September 16th The contractions were finally consistantly painful, however too spread out ... and so we continued waiting. Friday the contractions greaw closer together but were not painful enough. With my doctors blessing I had acupuncture done to induce labor which resulted in INTENSE contractions during the session ... but still nothing regular and bad enough to be getting close to active labor.

Finally, after 2 days of early labor and hardly any sleep, on Saturday, September 18th at 5am I was awaken with a cluster of BAD contractions. After the cluster finally stopped the contractions continued about every 10 minutes, then 8 minutes, and by the time my doula came around 9am the contractions were about every 7 minutes. We stayed at the apartment walking stairs, bouncing on birth ball, and was on the toilet A LOT haha. Standing made for the worse contractions! I had so much fake labor during the pregnancy though that it still felt surreal, i honestly didn't completely feel like this was it, even though I knew it was.

Finally, around noon we headed to Swedish since I was afraid that if we waited much longer the ride was going to suck even more. When we got there the triage nurse checked me and I was 100% effaced and 2cm dialated. My contractions were about every 4 minutes by this point so they went ahead and admitted me. I walked a little and tried the jet tub, but was suffering from back labor which was HORRIBLE! i was also dealing with cluster contractions where the contractions would come back to back or on top of each other. Finally, after assuring my doula and husband that I REALLY did want an epidural (I was previously hoping for a natural birth), I recieved an epidural around 2pm-ish. The break was much appreciated after 3 days of early labor and 2 nights of limited sleep, however after the epidural was given the contractions slowed down a bit and continued to come in clusters with big breaks inbetween.

After several hours and only slightly more dialation, the doctor requested to put a internal contraction monitor in to see how strong the contractions were. The fear being that the contractions weren't strong enough to make progress. In order to put the monitor in the doctor had to break my water. After monitoring me for awhile they determined they did need to give me pitocin to make the contractions stronger ... after a few more doses of that I was finally fully dialated and feeling the urge to push around 11pm on Saturday September 18th ... BUT ayden was on his side so they weren't able to deliver him in that position. We decided to try and turn him naturally so I got into a side prone position for about 3 hours. At 2pm the doctor checked me again and Ayden was face down (Finally!) and i was given the ok to start pushing. Delivery went well, he crowned very quickly and was out in only an hour although it felt like it only took 10 minutes!

Ayden was placed on my belly, however he was very pale and not crying as much as they would like so they had to take him from me to check his oxygen level. His breathing sounded like there was fluid in his lungs and since he wasn't crying enough they called in a specialist. It was so hard to have Ayden across the room with my husband and mom being with him and not be able to see him or touch him. Soon enough they determined that he was fine and my baby boy was given back to me.

Ayden was born at 3:03am on Sunday September 19th, 2010 weighing in at 8lbs 7.5oz and was 21 inches long. He is a super happy baby and is a wonderful snuggle bug! We couldn't be more happy!

What a great story Angela, I hope that your recovery has been doing well. When do you have to return to work? Are you nursing and will you be pumping? I think that is what I worry about most is that I am able to nurse this time and with work I worry about pumping.

Hi everyone! I'd love to join your group!

After way too long of an absence from MFP, I am back. I want to try and stay as healthy as I can during my pregnancy.. I am now at 17 weeks. (and have been on a fast weight gain :embarassed: )

I am having trouble setting up a good nutrition/eating goals for pregnancy and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how to do that on here? Thanks!

P.S. Congrats Angela!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :drinker:

I understand the fast weight gain, I gained 10 lbs in my first 2 months...:embarassed:  :grumble: I have leveled off and my home scale has stayed steady since, but nothing like weight gain! I am the type that eats when I am tired and don't feel good so that really makes a difference too.

enjoy Sjmay! I've decided it all goes too fast.

Angela I enjoyed your story. I am glad all went well--although maybe not as you planned. The one thing I have learned about L&D is that you can have great plans, but it never happens like you want it to.

I have a question for you ladies:

I am almost 11 weeks, and I feel like I could possibly start wearing maternity pants soon. I mentioned this to my mom, and she was in shock. She said I shouldn't start showing and needing maternity pants until at least Christmas (that would put me at 22 weeks). I feel like she thinks I am doing something wrong for wearing them so soon. It isn't that my pants are that tight, it just feels restricting, and I think I might be more comfortable in something a little looser/streatchier. Keep in mind that I am in business suits every day, so in general...they aren't too comfy!

When did you all switch to maternity pants? Does anyone have recommendations as to where I should shop to find business professional clothes??

I am at 13 weeks, 4 days and I have not switched to maternity clothes. However, since I had lost weight before getting pregnant I still have clothes that are a size bigger, so I am wearing those. They are much looser...my others were getting too uncomfortable, and I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks now, so probably right around the time you started feeling constricted. I think everyone is different, and you need to do whatever is comfortable for you. Don't worry about what others say, we need to be comfy!

For those of you who have recently conceived I'm just curious how many months of TTC did you have to endure?

This is only my second month of TTC and AF showed so we weren't successful this month. It's a really big bummer :(

I'm somewhere around 12 or 13 weeks (ultrasound and doctor are conflicting on this). I'm with mwilson in that I lost some weight prior so some of my clothes were a little bigger to begin with. But, the pants that were fitting me "just right" after losing the weight are now somewhat snug and more uncomfortable. I can still easily zip and button them, but I just don't have tolerance for that kind of fit when I already feel like I have to pee a million times a day. I have only gained about 2 lbs. so far, but my body, in general is just changing shape into a way that makes it more inconvenient to properly wear some of the clothes that fit me best before. And it's true, everyone is different and their shape changes in different ways. I had a friend tell me she used a hair tie to "extend" her tighter pants at the button, so I tried that, but found it was too loose at the waist, but the pants still didn't feel right because I think I'm getting bigger more at my hip region than waist. For that reason, bigger pants have been more of a solution. You'll probably find that maternity pants won't quite work for you yet, though. Maybe just a size up or so or try using one of those belly band things with your existing pants to make them more comfortable.

I'm curious too. Also, did anyone's DH have... stage fright? Mine is nervous and we've decided I won't give him details about the important days, we'll just enjoy the process and hope for the best.

Honestly when TTC dont forget to have fun. We tried for 3 months got preggo and had a m/c 8 weeks later. Then we tried for 3 months decided to give up and got preggo the 4th month. Even with the same person it can vary, it took 8 months to conceive my first son and only 1 shot to conceive my second, this one took 4 so you never know. I don't think that the stress of TTC helps, you just sorta have to go in with the intentions to have fun. Don't let science take all the love and passion away, DH does not want to feel like a donor he just wants to make love to his loving wife.

Hi everyone! I am ttc and trying to lose weight before getting pregnant. I gained 80lbs. with my son 10 years ago, then it took about 2 years ttc with my daughter. My sw was 235, i am now 220 but would like to be below 200 before getting pregnant again. I have had some trouble conceiving so my doctor prescribed clomid, anybody else take clomid? was just wondering if it affects weight loss at all?? I think i might start the clomid next month, so i am really really motivated this month to lose some more weight, after i get pregnant i just want to not really gain much weight, but eat healthy so the baby will get all the nutrients he/she needs!! I am already taking the prenatal vitamins so i feel like that is a step in the right direction!! Good luck kkuhly...it can be a long process but definitly worth it!!!!!

    Congrats Angela...Great Story...Beautiful Baby!!!!

Hi everyone!! I was told about this group and thought I would check it out. I am 9 weeks pregnant today! I posted a blog on the intro basic page..and WOW caught A LOT of heat for trying to lose weight while pregnant. I was told I was depriving my baby, and making a bad decision. There were a few who told me about this link..and I am very glad. I need some support right now, not the other way around. I am 22 yrs old, and weight 255.2 lbs. Before I became pregnant I weighed 250lbs. So in only 9 weeks I have gained 5 lbs. I want to stop this gain before it gets out of control. I have no problems posting my weight because I feel the only way you cn improve is to admit you have a problem. My problem being weight. I am in perfect health other than weight (thank the lord!!) and my OB told me the baby is healthy as a horse right now. BEFORE anyone asks...I have not asked my OB yet, This was a recent decision and my next appt is in 5 weeks and will DEFINATELTY discuss it with him then. Its harder than heck to get an appt with him so to make one just to talk about my eating...well it cant happen. I am consuming 1800 calories a day. (Which to my knowledge is plenty for baby and myself) I am eating foods high in calcium, fiber, iron, omega 3s, protien, and other vitiams...plus I take my prenatal everyday. I am on this diet for 3 days, and then take a "break Day" so my body doesnt get the hint that I am dieting and starts to turn into shut off mode. I am looking for opinions really. DO YOU THINK I AM DEPRIVING MY BUNDLE OF JOY? AM I MAKING BAD DESICIONS? I didnt think I was until so many people thought otherwise. Thanks for listening

Welcome, new comers! This is a really great group with lots of support!

I weighed in this morning and was down 2.6 lbs! I'm VERY confused! I know weight fluctuates so I'm not going to stress but I'm not going to lie, it kind of freaked me out. I'm eating anything I want basically (I know that's not ideal either ...lol) but I just stop when I get full. Which, is really fast these days. I get hungry very often but after I take a couple of bites I'm full. So now I'm at a lower weight than I was before getting pregnant. I will weigh again in a few days and see if it is just one of those days and hopefully everything's ok. :indifferent:
