    18 months of lifting heavy.

    Wow. You look great.

ETA - That probably sounded creepier than intended. Infer the appropriate level of creepiness.

These threads are truly my favorite. You all are so badass and great!!

I got halfway through stage 5 of NROLFW and started to just tire of the exercises. There were some I didn't like and the routines were getting too long to fit in my lunch break. I've since switched to stronglifts 5x5 and am a few weeks in and LOVING it. The simplicity of it and noticeable improvements make me excited to get on with it every day.

Now to just clean up the diet part... :P

Ditto. Although I got to stage 5 and then got pregnant but had already looked at moving on which I did for about 4 months. Starting strength which was awesome, really simple and great results but I wasn't pushing it too much. I am 37weeks and cant wait to get back to it!

  • Honestly you all are so inspiring and look great!! It is such a nice thing to see this thread, off of MFP we are often told that women should look a certain way, and I found at the gym it was very intimidating for me because the weight section was full of guys and some who expected you to step aside/give way when you wanted to lift. This is great because I like seeing women embracing strength and not assigning themselves to certain gender norms.

Keep in mind I'm still a work in progress! These pictures are 1 year apart, I'm on the left in both. In the first picture I am ONLY 10 lbs heavier and doing mostly cardio. The second mostly heavy lifting and not much cardio!

You should see the guys faces when I walk into the weights section. I just smile and carry on. So funny when I bench press 30 kg and they can't believe it. It's like look at that little old woman with grey hair ..... Haha

You are the best, it probably intimidates them and makes them question their manliness when an older woman is out doing them. Your body is incredible!

Every single one of you ladies is a huge inspiration!! Bumping for inspiration when I need it!! I've recently added weights to my cardio, doing T25 as my main focus and body beast as my secondary 3-4 times per week. I'm not far in, but already excited to turn the tables and do a round focusing on body beast!!

Right now I am in the middle of a year long commitment to a place where we do bootcamp type classes and I love it. I want to start lifting at home because I don't want to join another gym. All you at home lifters what is the basic equipment you recommend to get started?

I've just read this entire thread and I love it! I love that more and more ladies are lifting and looking amazing!

I've just returned to lifting after taking time out to have my baby boy.

Oh and to Helen - AKA UK Granny Lifter - You are incredible! What an amazing woman you are and you look phenomenal. My mum is the same age and I wish she would get off her bloody walking treadmill and lift some iron! xx

Cardio 20-30 mins a week. (If that. I hate cardio.)
    4 days Wendler's 5/3/1.
Competed in my first PL meet and placed first in my weight class for DL this year.

    Here's my progress (-65)

To the above lovely ladies ^ WOW, nice work! That is what I like to see- disproving stereotypes about lifting and what it makes (or means) you look like! Congratulations on all your progress and hardwork, you inspire me.

Annnnd here's one more of me for this thread, updated as of yesterday. Lifting since May of this year = actually seeing results for me (and getting to eat more, yay!) First two pics are late 2011, before I discovered MFP and dropped ~30lbs. Haven't gained any (yet) from lifting...
