Wherever I go, seriously - everywhere (!) somebody says "I know you!"
    Of course they don't.
But I have a "generic" look, and apparently "everybody knows me"!
I'm actually 1/2 German, 1/4 Polish / Russian, and 1/4 Italian.... Because my last name is Italian, people also say "What kind of Italian are you?"
So, if you say you know me, I'll tell you "Not likely.... I have a generic look"!

I am Native American and on occasion have been mistaken as Hispanic. It happened a lot when I lived in San Antonio. My youngest daughter gets mistaken for Vietnamese. And she's Native American and Caucasian. She does have an "Asian" appearance though. I call her my China doll.

    I'm surprised when people think I'm Mexican...mainly because I don't know a lot of 6'1" 240lb Mexicans.
(Understandably, though, no one guesses that I'm Jewish/Samoan)
Dude, my neighbors, the Ramos'...are Mexican...and all the men but one are over 6 foot tall...when we moved in, we were like "What is up with the tall Mexicans?!"
Ha. Still...IMO, that's more the exception than the rule, right? I mean...around here, 5'6" is a tall Mexican.

all dark skins are not African Americans. But by society's laws they are. I'm Jamaican but hey, what's the difference?

    Exactly. Pet peeve of mine.

Been asked if I’m German, or Swedish. I’m Italian/Polish. (THAT was fun at family gatherings, LOL…)

My dad is largely German and my mom is hispanic. I speak very little Spanish but people walk up to me speaking it on a regular basis because the place I work at has a very diverse clientele.

I just got home from a week in Greece and even though we stuck to the touristy spots, I can't tell you how many people were surprised that I had absolutely no Greek in me.

I've had several people tell me I look 'a bit Asian', whatever that means.

I've been asked if I was Asian quite a bit. I went in for Tae Kwon Do one day and the owner ( who is Korean ) asked if I was my friends sister (she's Korean) hahaha

People also ask me if I'm from Europe because I "speak well"...?

I am a European mutt (Dutch German French Irish) with some Cherokee Indian. I have dark hair and dark eyes from the dark Irish and the Cherokee. People think I'm Hispanic :grumble: I've had people come up and go off in Spanish and then get mad at me when I say "sorry I have no idea what you are talking about!) :noway:

I get the same thing with my "generic" look. I was talking to a friend once and he told me to answer the "have we met" or "do I know you" question with "no, but my sister does porn". It always gets a good laugh!

I'm Native American. I get Hispanic, Filipino, and one time Korean. Only other Natives seem to be able to tell but Hispanic and Filipino often speak to me in their languages.

O.M.G. I cannot even TELL you the different guesses I've gotten!!! I am a lot of things, but most people never get any of them correct!

Because I grew up in So Cal, most people assume I'm Mexican...I've also had Cuban, Puerto Rican, Indian, half black/half white, you name it!!! (None of which are correct, by the way!!!)
