Wednesday Wish: I have two this week. First one is the regular one PATIENCE. This journey is kicking my butt. I know eventually it will come off as I'm building my endurance at the gym and through my exercise. Why can't I be like Genie and blink my eyes . . .POOF!!! I'm SKINNY!!! Woo Hoo!!! OK, crazy moment is gone. Thanks for that. Second one is this neck pain or crick or whatever you call it. I can barely lift my arms up without this shooting pain. Not good.

@ Queen - I've attended churches from 50 to 15,000 members and many in between. Some people love that connection when you walk in the door someone recognizes you, hugs you and you belong. Other people like to come, worship in their own way and leave. Like Kelley said many of the mega churches use their Small Groups/Activities to build those relationships. I'm still not sure which direction I'm going to go, but I know I'll feel it when I'm there. Loved your comment on your son eating your snacks. The problem is those little 100 calories are small and he probably eats 5 in one setting. LOL!!

@ Kelley - I'm always amazed how you squeeze things in. I guess it helps having the elliptical at home. No excuse, right??!!!

@ Robin - I hate you're feeling under the weather. Get better soon!!! I did chuckle about your jet plane comment. At least you have an excuse. I just sound like a freight train on a regular basis and there's nothing wrong with me. Sigh.

@ Allie - Enjoy your day off tomorrow!

@ Kooky - We're on the same track too. I'm at 30 lbs also. Woo Hoo!!!

@ Karen - I bet we all can name those foods that set us off. Give me an Oreo and an ice cold glass of milk I can eat almost the whole bag. Thank goodness I haven't done that in a very, very long time.

@ Laurie - What a great idea! Plus, it was probably nice to get away from the day-to-day and relax a bit even if you're surrounded by flashing lights, blaring music, and hormone driven teenagers. LOL!!!

@ Charlotte - I hate that you were alone for the holiday. I'm a stickler for bringing folks in. I think it's my tender heart and I want to just invite everyone over. There's nothing like a big meal with a bunch of people I barely know. I love it to be honest. The more the merrier!!! Of course, my sister lives with us and she's a holiday Grinch so she's complete opposite. Hopefully, you can find some family/friends time soon. Proud of you for pushing through the Wii though. Baby steps.

@ Marilyn - Welcome to our little thread! We love it here and everyone is so supportive. Quite a few of us have been here well over a year and some together for 2+ years so we already know each other, but we always welcome newbies with open arms. Many on here also battle with depression in different forms, but I think the family stuff is one of the hardest because it is so personal. Hang in there and post often if you can.

Wednesday Wish: That my shoulder quits hurting. I was able to do my overhead lifts today, but I feel an ice pack in my near future. :grumble: It's such a minor issue compared to some of the injuries you all are dealing with. I wish speedy healing for all of you that have aches and pains.

Tonight, I have a Children's Education committee meeting at church. This is my first one...looking forward to meeting some new people closer to my age. Then I have choir. After choir, I get to look forward to a nice dinner with my husband. He has tonight off and is going to make us his special babyback ribs, asparagus and potatos. Yummy!! Have a great day!

Girl, I'm feeling the same way. I think when I had that trip to GA a few weeks ago the bed/pillow in the hotel didn't work well for me. I thought it was better, but with the trainer on Monday I did crunches and planks, which I think has set it off again. I could barely lift my arms this AM and it's so tight. I worked out this morning, but all legs on the elliptical and treadmill. This better get better and fast! I've got another trip on Monday thru Thursday. Hope you get to meet some other folks your age at church tonight plus your hubby's dinner sounds really good. Enjoy!

Does anyone else have a hard time keeping up this thread?

If you wish to swish a wish, I will swish for fish on my ish wish fish dish. (Or something like that)
It's what what pop's into my head every time I think of wish Wednesday! lol!
I'm going to keep it easy, I wish I got more sleep! I'm so tired.
I hope everyone is feeling good or on the mend today, so that we can all have a fabulous weekend!

If you've submitted a post, I know you can edit it, but what about delete? For some reason, I keep getting double postings and I'm trying to clear it out, but it will not let me. MFP is acting a bit funky this afternoon.

@ Robin - I know you posted this for me before, but can you send the instructions again for posting a picture? I looked through the thread, but I think it was in the last round before we moved to this thread. I need to save it on my hard drive for future reference. Thanks!!

Well, the pies are done and delivered. I made an extra one for us. If everyone in the family eats a piece, it won't do too much damage. I'm making broccoli quiche for dinner.
My Wed. wish is like so many of you. I wish for more sleep. I really need to get on top of these sleep issues!
Sorry about all of the aches and pains. Robin, I hope you are feeling better soon.
I haven't made a habit of buying very many "special" things for me, but I have found that I really like the lower calories in sandwich thins and Fiber One English Muffins, . They make it easier for me to keep my overall calories down without departing drastically from my goal of learning to eat real food in a sensible way.
    Have a great evening. Kaye

Happy Hump Day to You Allie! I love the camel commercials! Well, as I thought, I didn't sleep last night, I hope I didn't keep my neighbors awake, I did sleep off and on, but must have sounded like a jet plane taking off with my throat rattling. Its stlll sore but the salt water rinses are very soothing, if you want to taste like a pickle all the time
    I'm going back to bed.

Drink your water - :drinker: :drinker:

Zinc tablets always work for me with a sore throat. Would not hurt to try. Zinc also seems to make it go away lickety split.

Well it was a torrential downpour this morning when I got up and let the dogs out. Had to push them out the door to convince them that they really would not melt. That done I decided that I would NOT walk in the downpour so here it is 6 pm and I have not done my exercise for today, Eating is good so need to get that done. Morning is better but I am a weather weenie. Gave myself a lecture - that is what I bought the treadmill for - when the weather sucks. Oh well tomorrow morning is another day and today I need to get off this computer and get it done.

Wishing everyone a good evening and a great day tomorrow,

BTW when I have trouble sleeping I wear socks to bed even if I do not feel cold. Must be a mind thing but it works for me.

Charlotte- Have you thought about inviting people over for the holiday dinners. Spending a day with friends can be so enjoyable and it can always be a pot luck meal. Hope you had a nice holiday.

    p1- Great poem.

Susan- I have tried before to delete a duplicate post but it doesn't work. Just change the message to oops, it double posted or something funnier.

tlh-a sore shoulder is not fun. What may help is taking a tennis ball, lacrosse ball or some other ball and putting it against the floor or wall and use that to roll the muscle out. Lean back into to reach the deep muscles. You will feel it but it should help provide some relief. A foam roller may also help. Ice and heat could also help relax the muscles. You may also want to take a break from the heavy lifting or at least reduce the weight until you adjust to it. It could also be your muscles response to the workout.

Funny story today- Some point after I took my kids to lunch today a bird flew into the open window and was flying around my classroom. I was down stairs eating lunch and found out when my co-worker informed me on the way upstairs with my kids. Luckily, she had planning so we went to her room while they got the bird out. Of course this set my kids off today. They could not handle changing rooms and of course some wanted to catch it other kill it. That last phrase was driving me crazy. They did manage to get the bird out and we could return to the classroom. Then it took another 5 minutes to calm down and focus on their work. I don't know what type of bird it was since I did not see it, but I did hear it when I went in to get the materials for the lesson today. At least, the room was empty when this happen, otherwise the kids would have run out of the room.

    Exercise plan for this week
Sunday- Swim, bike, and Run DONE
    Monday- Trainer work DONE
    Tuesday-weight workout SWIM Instead DONE
Wednesday-Walking and a 5 min run on treadmill. DONE
    Thursday bike
    Friday-rest
    Saturday-water aerobics
    Sunday-triathlon

Wish- I hope everyone feels better soon and that all the aches and pains disappear overnight.

Happy hump day. Wish I knew what the geiko camel commercial was. I don't think we get it in Canada. Sounds funny. I love funny, whether its stories, programs or commercials. I love to laugh. I'm usually a very happy person. I think thats why I got so down this week with Thanksgiving coming and going. I have so much to be thankful for and would love to have had a nice big family dinner with lots of stories and laughter. But, that being said, my daughter asked me last night if she and the kids could come down to my place for the w/e. Yes, yes, yes. I get to cook for them and buy little treats and take them to the park and have fun with them. Really looking forward to it. If they come on Friday night, we're going to go to the zoo on Saturday. I hope they come Friday cause it gives me more time with them. Sounds like my daughter could use some Mom time too. She's having a rough time at home. Her hubby is bipolar and on a very bad down swing right now. Makes life tough for her and the kids. Unfortunately, he doesn't do anything to help himself when he swings low. She has to push him to see his counselor and push him to get out of bed and go to work. Hope it doesn't last much longer. It really affects the kids when he gets like this cause he just ignores the little ones (ages 4& 6) and he picks on the older one (she's 14). So its good that they are coming to see me this w/e to have some fun.

It means lots of walks and activities which is great for me. So, my Wednesday wish is for good weather this w/e so we can spend as much time outside having fun as possible. Charlotte

@laurie--we once had a bird stuck in the ceiling at school. It was making noise all day and it was during finals so the kids were all testing so you could hear it even moreso b/c they were so quiet. Eventually it got out of the ceiling and was loose in the hallways. A colleague of mine caught it in a box and let it outside. That was the scariest day ever b/c I have a severe fear of birds! We have mice running around out office and sometimes classrooms as well, but that doesn't bother me as much (though admittedly I'd like my workspace critter-free).

@kooky--I also have treadmill, but I only use it in the event of severe weather--like a blizzard or torrential downpour--b/c I also have a gym membership. I don't mind running on the treadmills at the gym, but I hate mine at home.

@kaye--I also love those sandwich thins! Another favorite for sandwiches--Mission brand small wheat wraps. They only have 50 calories!

@p1xy--I think we all have trouble keeping up with the thread from time to time. Believe it or not, we went through a period when we actually would have to temporarily "close" the thread to new members b/c it was just too hard to keep up (remember those days, robin?). The old thread name used to draw more newcomers and we would go through pages and pages each day sometimes. In comparison, I find the current thread easy, but I have days when I decide I will just read quickly or skip personals b/c it's just too much. There's no expectation that you read every word each member posts--do what works for you.

@mel--I know you already know this, bu going to the gym will probably help fix the sleep and energy problems. I know it's easier said than done.

@sjacobs & robin--that commercial cracks me up!

@susan--hope the neck pain goes away soon. I'm very particular about my pillows and often have the same issue when not sleeping at home. I also just saw something on the news about a study with lab rats showing oreos stimulate the same pleasure centers of the brain as cocaine and heroin. :noway: And yes, the rats eat the cream filling first.

@tracy--hope the shoulder feels better soon! Yum, asparagus is my favorite veggie!

@holly--my husband sometimes asks permission if he can eat certain foods I buy for myself. He's worried he will take my school snacks an I will get cranky about it.

@charlotte-- yay for the loss and jumping on the Wii!! :drinker:

@vickie--thanks--I'm sure I still ate and drank more calories than I should have, but I didn't go crazy as I would have a few years ago.

    Wednesday Wish:
That I can let go and back off of the planning and managing for my juniors. I really need to let my student teacher take over and not worry that he may not teach the students *exactly* what I would teach them. I have control issues. :blushing:

Good morning dedicated friends! I am in a good mood today! No more of the BS down guy who has been sitting in my chair the past week. That guys an @$$hole... so Im not taking it anymore! I had an excellent workout this morning. I took my time a bit more and accomplished a PB for squat that I have wanted a long time. 300lbs... I started to get nervous as I lowered myself and almost stopped then I just said man up sugarplum and did it! My legs are beat... and I have some field work scheduled today with a lot of walking involved! I just hope this rainy weather clears out by 10!

p1xyn1xy - yes I get lost in this thread often! I start really early and try to play catchup! Hope you got your rest!

Kah- hope your trainer session went well!

mnwalkingquee - If I get something for me I have to hide it in my room or my boys hunt it down and destroy it! LOL

tlh0407 -- I hope it is just a sore muscle that heals up quickly...

susan2396 - Patience is needed above all else! Well perseverance but I think the two go hand in hand. You can do this!!

sjacobs425 - humpday cardio... sounds like a lot of fun to me!!!

Melwillbeheal - That is quite the wish list!!! Why not pick one to focus on at a time! Make a plan instead of an excuse next time!

Kookyk9s - My pup is not a fan of the rain either... I have to drag her out to walk in it... but your right, use that treadmill get your exercise in!!! (Not the dogs, although the comedy potential is great)

Lauriek70 - Nothing like a visitor to spice up class!

Robin... glad to hear your starting to feel better, a good solid day of rest should really help push you to well!

Skinny - A teacher with control issues??? surely you jest!

Good morning all! Just checking in, killing some time. Had to take my work computer into the office for an update...can't go get it until 8am today. Late start, getting paid for the down time, I'll take it! Enjoying my coffee and catching up on reading.

Thursday truth -- I've been a little lazy this week. Daughter wants to run tonight, so I will do that. My 5K is a week from Saturday. It's supposed to be cold and I'm dreading how that will make my lungs feel. Tonight will be the first run where it's been a little chilly and I'm hoping I can hack it. (without hacking up a lung). I'm trying to focus on how I will feel AFTER the 5K. Marca gave me some wise advice....you don't have to enjoy the run, you just have to enjoy the feel AFTER you run. So true, powerful words to me.

Y'all have a great day...and great weekend if I don't check back in!

Hi everyone I am still here  It took me forever to catch up on all your posts. I am sending out a general hope for everyone to feel better and great job to all those victories I saw recorded. Well the good news I lost a nice chunk of weight in the last week. The bad news is its because I had food poisoning:sick: I was completley unable to function on Sat, Sun, and Mon. By Tuesday I made it to the couch and was able to start drinking fluids and keep them down and by yesterday I was able to eat a little bit and start really working on replenishing my fluids. I probably should have gone to the dr since I know I got way to dehydrated but things are coming back to normal today so I guess I survived. Probably not going to do any hard core workouts or eat a feast but I finally feel up to taking a shower, putting on real clothes and maybe scrambling some eggs for breakfast so life is feeling pretty good at the moment:happy: As always I am happy to see that overall everyone is doing good and fighting the good fight. Have a great day everyone and have a big glass of water with me.:flowerforyou:

thursday - truth day - hmmm

i didn't push myself this morning doing my 30ds :( disappointed in myself and the moral to the story.. i only hurt myself.

positive on it, i did it, 20 minutes, didn't stop, caught my breath for 5 seconds a few times, but i sweat, heart rate was up and i DIDN'T QUIT!!!

so truth, yea i bailed on the jumping jacks but ran in place hard, and kept pushing.

tonight i'll be in the gym, tomorrow i'll do 30ds again, and yea i'm ok with this.

:) have a great day everyone

Thursday Truth- I hate being at other's mercy. I have morning meetings the last 2 days which means I forced to eat what is served. Mcdonald's 2 days in a row is killing my sodium in take. If my company can build gyms, have free fitness classes, discount on gym memberships, constantly talk about good health why can't the managers provide decent food for meetings. Unfortantely I was crabby today and let my boss know I didn't like that there was no healthy food. She laughed said it wasn't her turn to buy and that maybe I needed some caffine to wake up. She will atleast bring fruit and yogurt when she buys. Sorry for the rant.

Charlotte- I am sorry to hear about what you daughter and grand kids are dealing with. I hope you have a great time with them and I will keep them in my prayers. I agree with Laurie K and the comment on friends for the holidays. When my family doesn't want to celebrate I go to a friends house or I invite friends over to mine.

Laurie- what a mess with the bird. I agree good thing the kids weren't in the room.

Susan- I bet he could eat 5 packs but he usually gets caught at pack 1 and is asked not to eat any more. Seems like others on the thread have the same issue with family members.

    Good Morning & Happy Pre-Friday!

@p1xyn1xy~This thread does move fast sometimes, it can be overwhelming. Don’t feel obligated to respond to each and every person, I’m really busy so sometimes I have to skim through and time doesn’t allow me to respond to everyone – just do the best you can.

@Susan~Laurie had some great suggestions for Tracy regarding her shoulder pain. Using a tennis ball is good for myofascial release, it hurts at first but the more you do it the easier it becomes. Also, ice your shoulder (no barrier) 20 minutes on 20 minutes off, then you can follow with heat for 20 minutes. It should help to loosen things up. Anytime I have muscle pain/strain this is the regimen my trainer has me follow. One time he had me put my entire foot in an ice bath, crazy how much that hurt from the cold – but it works!

@Mel~Good wishes yesterday, I know I could use better life balance as well.

@Kooky~Too bad you can’t walk the dogs on the treadmill when the weather is bad. I could never wear socks to bed, I don’t like wearing them period.

@Charlotte~I understand how you feel about being around family during the holidays. My grandmother, who is the center of our family and responsible for us being so close knit, is on hospice. Since I’ve moved here and am closer to most family, we have always had a huge get-together (20+ family members) at the holiday’s. Since circumstances have changed this year we aren’t going to be able to our huge family celebration, so the holiday season is going to have a different feel this year – kind of gloomy to think about. I’m so glad to hear your daughter and GKs are coming for the weekend, sounds like you all need the time together – I cherish the time I get to spend with my mom, its seldom now since she is the caregiver for my grandmother. Enjoy the weekend!

@Karen~I feel the same way about my elliptical, I much prefer the ellipticals at the gym over mine at home (I think because I can burn more calories and I seem to work out harder with other people around).

@Gorilla~Glad you are feeling more like yourself today, awesome workout this morning with the squats!

@sjacobs~Never be hard on yourself for not pushing yourself during a workout – you didn’t quit, so kudos for pushing through. You’ll have good workouts and workouts where you just aren’t feeling it, as long as you move that’s all that matters. :flowerforyou:

@Holly~Sorry they are choosing such unhealthy options for your b'fast meetings, surely they could go by a deli for some healthier alternatives - especially if they are trying to promote healthier lifestyles. Fast food is banned here for meetings - donuts do make their way here sometimes but for the most part they try to make it such that healthier items are available. Of course, yesterday we had cookies and cupcakes around for Boss's Day, but fruit from Edible Arrangements was also around.

AFM~Did some different things with my trainer last night, ended up being a lot of core work. It didn’t burn a ton of calories but something we don’t do nearly enough. I honestly thought I would have woken to seriously sore abs but didn’t; however, the scapula region on my right side is sore – trying to put together in my head what we did to cause it, nothing was really zeroing in on the muscle there but a lot of what we do involves muscles you don’t think about. It hurts to sneeze! Coworker looked at me like I was nuts earlier, using the corner of a filing cabinet to put pressure on that area and release it – didn’t work. :grumble: There is obviously some muscle weakness in that area, a reminder that I need to do more of that kind of thing.

    Exercise Goals:

    Sunday~Gym, training session DONE!
Monday~Gym, arc trainer or elliptical DONE! (elliptical at home)
    Tuesday~Rest Day
    Wednesday~Gym, training session DONE!
    Thursday~Rest Day
Friday~Ghouls Night Out (at winery, we get to make our own bottles--EXCITED!!!)
Saturday~Running drills at gym or outside

    Good Morning.
Thursday truth: I had very mixed emotions when I saw that DS had taken the last piece of coconut cream pie to work for his lunch today. On the one hand, I know that he did me a huge favor. But I was really looking forward to eating it myself, and was planning how I was going to make it fit into my food plan today. I know he will enjoy it, and I don't have to worry about it.
JT so sorry you have been so sick.
Robin- hope you are feeling much better.
To all of you who are working out and lifting--I am in awe. I just keep walking.
Have a great day. Onward and downward. Kaye

I guess that my Thursday Truth is that I have started to let life get in the way of my new lifestyle!!! I have been super busy and SO tired... food logging has either been very late at night or the next day so accuracy is sure to suffer. Exercise has been low mostly because my knee got slightly twisted and I am trying to baby it so I can do a local 5K on Sat. I have been over on calories but not bad but just not hitting my goal because I am not logging as I go..... so, as of today, I am kicking complacency to the curb and getting back to doing what WORKS!!! I will also try to keep up on here better too as well as be more of an encouragement to the friends on my page.... I am a REALLY lousy friend!!!

Gorilla- 300lbs on squats that is impressive, Congrats on the PB and for reaching that long awaited goal. :drinker:

Pie- I also have trouble keeping up from time to time but as someone mentioned it has been worst. Just do the best you can there are no requirements for posting personal responses. Sometimes I don't post personals because everything I wanted to say has been said very well by the people before me.

Marsha- Good luck with your 5K

Kaye- Congrats on the 4 in loss, that is FANTASTIC!!!

Charlotte- So happy that the grands will be with you this weekend.

Karen- It is so hard to let go of our classes especially when you have student teacher. Just remember you have taught them the important things about teaching and now you need to let them fly with that knowledge. You can always add your $.02 during the class co-teaching model or in notes afterwards. We also have mice in our building, they make a huge mess.

Queen- You can always bring Nutri-grain or granola bars or other healthy food for breakfast. That is terrible that they did not provide any healthy food for breakfast.

Kelley- What type of ice pack are you using if you go no barrier? The problem with using ice packs with no barrier is that they are colder than ice and will burn your skin if it makes direct contact.

Today was a total rest day as I was exhausted by the time I left work. It was a late night at work just trying to get things ready for next week. Luckily, I have tomorrow off so I get to rest before I do errands. I just hope that TOM doesn't make an appearance until the tri is finished.

Thursday truth - like I said, I'm stuck on a plateau .. mostly of my own making I think. Working really hard to stay away from old habits.

A coworker confided in me this week that she has an eating disorder. I told her that I already knew, and she was startled. I told her that I figured that people who had issues with food must be able to see it in other people, because I had problems myself. Turns out, she's a binge/emotional eater too. Plus, we're both having issues with some folk at work (like my boss), so we are working on being our own little support system. I've tried to encourage her to use MFP too.

Doing a HUGE amount of cleaning/decluttering to make room for the daughter. 4 adults (plus the business) in one house, with one outside income. Just a bit of a challenge!

Thursday truth - I've slipped the last 2 days. We've had patients buying the staff cookies and candies so its all over the nursing station. Usually I'm pretty good about bypassing the treats but the last 2 days I've been weak. Hopefully by talking about it and fessing up, it'll help me strengthen my will power so I can stay away from them. Its not like I dont' have stuff to eat. I made a really great salad for my supper and through in some no added sugar jello and yogurt plus a fibre 1 bar. Usually this is enough to satisfy that darn sweet tooth but I guess because I've been a little low its gotten to me. So, now, I've talked about it, enough is enough. No more cookies!
Thanks all for being so supportive this week and helping me get through this holiday blues thing I've been struggling with. You really are the best group on MFP. For all the newbies, I hope you realize what this group can offer you and stick with us. Even the toughest of us need help sometimes and this group will be there for you as they have been for me many times before.
Have a great week all. Charlotte

I get up once or twice to go to the bathroom..do u have to turn the fitbit off of sleep each time you get up or just let it think you are sleep walking?? lol Kim
