Thank you to ladies for sharing how you got through the plateaus. I think each of you hit on something that I have been lacking in doing. Bottom line is I need to start logging again, get moving more, watch portions and keep on keeping on. I needed to hear how you all got through it and know that I can to.
AFM-My jeep died. $5000 to fix and the warranty ran out a few months ago. Normally I would be completely stressed out but I guess at some point in life you just learn that things will work itself out one way or another. No need to stress because it doesn't change a thing.
I am very proud of this. As you all know pizza is a huge weakness for me which we had and spent the weekend baking. I had two slices of pizza and as for all the goodies we made, I had two of those as well. I put some goodies in zip lock bags for his lunch (told him how much was in each bag) and then packed the rest off to family. :happy:0 -
Today was a good day overall. My trainer had me a total core workout tonight so I should be sore tomorrow. Workout included a variety of different crunches and leg lifts. I am cutting this short tonight since I am tired.
Have a great week everyone.0 -
Goodness I think the snow is getting the best of me. It normally takes me a 1/2 hr to get home from work. Today it took me almost 2 hrs :noway:. I think I did my workout in the car of flapping my arms in the air and shaking my head all over the place. I may have looked ridiculous but at least I was trying to make it worth my while. Tomorrow is weigh in day and I'm stressing out on it. I hope the scale is in my favor this week.0

hi everyone! I just started back on here this past week after a seriius ankle injury that put me down for 3 months and bulked me uo 30lbs! so 30 on top of the 75 I needed to lose puts me in the 100+ club. uuuuuugh not excited about that! but I have been to the gym 5 days in a row and have logged everything in those 5 days. I'm hoping that the initial 30 falls off once my life is back to normal but I know the rest is going to take some work. after sitting for 3 minths I am ready to get moving! hope everyone had a great weekend0

The weekend was pretty bad for calories. I told myself that this is a new week, but I sure had to fight myself all day. I won some and lost some. I came out okay on the total count. I'm sure missing my walks. It just isn't getting warm enough to get rid of the ice.
Today I am thankful for my mother and my grandmother. They were wonderful role models and taught me so many important things. They taught me to do needlework at a very young age. It really helps me stay busy and relieve stress without eating. I miss them everyday.
Here's to a good week. Stay strong. Kaye0 -

Good Morning.
@Michelle~Yikes, on the Jeep repair! That would send me over the edge for sure, nothing I hate worse than unexpected car repairs. You’re right nothing you can do to change it, so may as well not stress over it – although $5k would be hard not to stress over.
@mere1982~Welcome! Injuries that cause a lot of downtime are frustrating to recover from and sure put a damper on weight loss. Just take it one day at a time and ease back into activity once your cleared.
@P1xyn1xy~I’m sorry you were involved in a car accident, glad to hear that you are okay.
@Nettie~Good luck on the next phase of your exercise program, you’re doing great!
AFM~Big lesson learned yesterday, string cheese will not get you through a workout no matter what you do! Knowing how hard I planned on working out, I needed to have some complex carbs to sustain my energy. I know better and should have been prepared. :grumble: Glucose tanked and I was down and out for the rest of the night – today, I’m armed with a Luna bar. Today is our annual holiday breakfast – luckily they’re pretty good about having a variety of stuff, I avoided the pastries and bagels but did have a slice of the strata and egg roll wrap along with fruit salad. All very tasty and more carbs than I typically eat for b'fast, but its just once a year.
Tuesday Goals~My goals are to try and have the high calorie burning cardio sessions my trainer wants me to have. Yesterday's workout was hard, I can usually work out for a long time but I think that I was off yesterday because I hadn't eaten the right type of food for fuel so it really wreaked havoc on the quality of my workout and my recovery. So my second goal is to keep my carbs up prior to these workouts and to meet my caloric intake goals up as well.
Exercise Goals:
Monday~Gym, arc trainer DONE!
Tuesday~Gym, training session
Wednesday~Gym, elliptical
Thursday~Gym, training session
Friday~Rest Day (meeting friend for HH and then finish shopping)
Saturday~10k
Sunday~Gym, training session0 -
Ok Good People! I fell off there for a while but I am back. Ugh.... So there was a lot of personal responses that I wanted to post and now I cant find them so I am sorry...
Susan- Ok I am pretty sure it was you who said you used to live in the Atlanta area. Yeah I actually live in Atlanta and I love it! I am from Southern California but I have no intentions on ever leaving Atlanta. I feel like it has everything you want! My dad works in the Dunwoody area and my husband graduated from Dunwoody High School. So I am familiar with the area you used to live in. Besides we always travel out to Perimeter to eat...( I so hope my memory serves me correctly and you used to be in the Perimeter area lol)
Okay so it is Tuesday- My goal is to be consistent and to be committed. Exercise is the key for me. When I exercise I make better food choices... when I don't I tend to not eat so well. I know the logic is missing but that is the way I generally operate. With having kids and a husband the only way for me to get in a workout is in the wee hours of the morning. And I am NOT a morning person. So guess who is really the key to my success in this whole thing? The answer should be ME... but it's not! It's my husband. When he makes me go to the gym I actually go! Okay I just went off topic... Until next time!!!0 -
Looking to join a group where I can find encouragement to stay motivated and lose some weight. Today is my birthday. I am a breast cancer survivor, finished the chemo and radiation. Proper diet and exercise are now my only 'tools' to continue the fight against cancer. I have struggled with weight most of my life and I'm not real happy that I am now the responsible person to wage my own fight against cancer.
I'll figure it out - I just need to get moving and have that affirmation that I am doing my part. I've been on MFP before and done the
yo-yo stuff, now I need to make steady progress towards a more healthy me. It won't happen overnight, it won't happen this year, but today can be the day I reclaim my life.
I need this.0 -
I ended up not taking yesterday as a rest day. I was feeling pretty good, worked out hard and burned burned burned! I made two new recipes for dinner last night after I got home from work. One was a chicken recipe I saw on Rachel Ray. I made this for Brian for dinner and he loved it. The second recipe was one I saw on here for zucchini tots. They came out really good and I would definitely make them again. By 9 pm last night I was completely exhausted from the day and went to bed.
P1xyn1xy - Sorry to hear about your accident. But glad to hear you (and no one else) were injured.
Alupinsk - Congrats on meeting your DietBet goal!
Michelle - Good for you for eating pizza and goodies in moderation. I like your outlook on not stressing over the Jeep repair.
Laurie - Wahoo for a good workout!
Madeline - That is great that you made good use out of your time. I hate those long snow commutes home. It is snowing again here. I have not heard anything yet from my district about my program being cancelled. If it isn't I will be trekking home tonight during rush hour in this. I am not looking forward to that commute. :noway:
mere1982 - Welcome. Best of luck to you!
Kaye - Wahoo for a new week!
Kah - Sounds like you did well at the Holiday Breakfast.
Ohio4Me- Happy Birthday! :flowerforyou: Congrats on being a breast cancer survivor and taking control of your life. Welcome to our group. Just jump right in and join us.0 -
It's hard to believe there's just 1 week until Christmas Eve and 2 until New Year's Eve. Where has 2013 gone?!?
Goals: I'm 6/10 ths of a pound away from my 2013 goal. Now I know I'm going to get there. I have 2 bad meals coming up (Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve). I'm cooking for 12 on each of those days. I'm going to do the same I did at Thanksgiving..... cut back by a couple hundred calories the day before and after and exercise portion control to the best of my ability for both of those meals.
I'm looking forward to January 1st when the food frenzy is over and everyone on the planet will be on a diet..... at least for a few days.0 -
Bump again. Super busy, but thinking of you all. Should have time to post tonight. :flowerforyou:0

Boy, just realized I haven't written on this thread since Saturday. I've been reading and keeping up, but apparently not sharing at all. :noway:
Sunday Share: I'm Tracy. 40 years old. Live in Bismarck, ND. Have a husband of 18 years and two kids -- Jacob 12 and Emma 7. I moved here last summer and for the first time in my adult life, live near part of my family -- my Mom, a single sister and a married sister with her three boys. Love the family time! I work out of my home in the life insurance business doing Quality Analysis. Do not like working from home, but it's hard to pass up the good pay (I've been with the company 16 years), vacation time and flexibility.
Monday Checkin: I've eaten way too many carbs in the last three days! I love my sugar cookies! Need to increase my protein early in the day so I feel full longer. That means I have to go to Walmart (ugh -- during the Christmas season) as the brand of protein I like is only sold at Walmart.
Tuesday Goals: I have got to get back on track for the gym. I've only lifted one time in the last three weeks. Last week we went and then on the second day, we took too long in getting my Mom's Christmas stuff up and the gym was closed by the time we were done. Oh well, apparently I can find a bunch of excuses but I don't want to get back to "that" place. We are going tonight! On the plus side, the carbs and the lack of gym time hasn't hindered my plan too much -- In the 4 weeks, I am down 3.2 pounds.
Thankful: I'm thankful for Christmas lights. Last night we went out (filled my van with 7 of us) and took in the displays of the Bismarck area. Secular and Non-Secular displays were gorgeous and we ultimately saved the best for last. Two homes with their amazing lights set to music. When we found it (gravel roads and wrong turns), one of the homeowners was walking from car to car so I grabbed some money to donate. He told me to put away the money, enjoy the show and gave us 7 candy canes.
@all the Newbies....welcome! This is a wonderful thread that will give you encourage, hope and help.
@Robin...I'm glad you are progressing and I hope your week continues to go well so you can see your doctor and your family.
@Nicole...glad you are taking the Winter Quarter off...I agree, you'll still be busy, but will have a bit more time to focus on yourself. Breaks are good for giving you enough umph to keep going next quarter.
@Karen...I agree with technology. It drives me insane to watch families (or all adults) and watch people spend more time on their phones/devices than with each other. Or when people in line talk on their phone instead of talking to the cashier. I'm irritated for you with your friend's colleagues. The loss of a family member is so painful that to then have to deal with co-workers that are insensitive.
@Karen and Kaye...I haven't heard/seen the word abysmal in a long time and you both used it -- hee hee:flowerforyou: And I agree with eating the kinds of food you like (even if they have to be in smaller portions). Kaye, I like being able to cook one meal for all of us (although my husband is allergic to turkey and chicken so there are days that he gets leftovers when the kids and I eat that).
@Laurie... I giggled about your thick hair...same problem here. I just chopped off about 8 inches and still figuring out how to style it, but love how much more quickly I can be done with it. You sound like you've had some great days -- awesome!
@Susan...MMM. If just my husband and I would have gone, we would have probably tried to eat at some of the great restaurants in LV. Sounds like Buddy V's was a good one.
@Kelley...if you're gonna live at the gym, don't forget a good pillow.
@p1xy...Glad you are okay. Icy roads can be scary.
@Michelle...sorry to hear about your Jeep. i agree about worry...not gonna help, but that's a tough hit anytime, especially during the holidays.
@Ohio...Happy birthday and I'm glad to hear you are a Survivor. Welcome!
Happy Tuesday everyone!!0 -
Just looked at the weather forecast and they're saying no more snow for me. That means I will be more productive tonight and hopefully easy ride home from work.0
-
Sorry was MIA for a few days.....I will work hard at reading all posts but may not respond to them. Finals are done I received an A in both classes. Goal is to maintain so far I have gained 2 lbs trying not to gain anymore. I am tired of shoveling snow and all friends that have been in the ways of the storms hope all are safe.
Riley has become a pet product tester for my job. He doesn't like the pet bed he chews on it and refuses to use it. He was given a food dish, toys and kennel to test everything else he likes so far.0 -
Tuesday Truth: My exercise last week was hardly nothing. So not happy with myself. I did workout with the trainer last night and plan to hit the gym tonight. I know what I need to do and I’ll do it, but the baking weekend threw me for a loop. Completely exhausted. Plus, we opened our second shop in Boston yesterday and one opens Thursday in another casino. I’ve been slammed at work. No excuses, but the extra eating and no exercise is playing havoc with me and my mental game. I’ll be fine, but just holding on through this holiday season. Making HUGE strides over last year though so I am winning the battle!!! Getting caught up on personals so it’s a bit lengthy.
@ Ohio – First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Second, welcome to the most amazing group on MFP. Third, a survivor – thoughts to you!! I have a dear friend in stage 4 battling colon, liver and lung whose 40 years old with two kids, 8th and a senior. So tough, but trying to love them the best way I can even though I’m 2,000 miles away. Welcome to the group and look forward to getting to know you.
@ Sweet Tea – Good to see you again!! Great memory! It was me. Yes, I lived in Atlanta (Norcross, Lilburn, Lawrenceville, & Tucker) for 18 years before moving to Las Vegas last year. Huge change, but we’re adjusting. Start posting again and you’ll be right back on track.
@ Michelle – I loved your post last week about being thankful for this group. You were right on target and I couldn’t have said it better. I appreciate everyone here too so much. So sorry to read your post today about the jeep. Car stuff stinks, but LOVE the attitude. It doesn’t help to stress because that’s not going to change anything. We have to put on our big girl panties and deal with it. Big girl not meaning fat, but big girl as a grown up. LOL!!!
@ Karen – Thanks for the teacher gift insight. I was going with gift cards anyway, but thought I should ask a source. I did a peppermint candle with a gift card. I wasn’t sure with him moving to middle school, but still felt like we wanted to do something.
@ Tracy – First of all, congrats on the potential buyer!! Crossing fingers and toes, but more importantly praying everything goes through without a hitch. I know it’s been a long time coming. I’ve been contemplating a Disney cruise, but went back to Princess. We go Spring Break in April and can’t wait!! Also, thanks for sharing Emma’s story with us. I’ve got a few friends who were adopted and the unconditional love is just priceless. You’re a lucky family to have each other that’s for sure.
@ Kelly – Shame on your administrator last week for coming into the office. Let’s hand out bonuses AND the flu. Hello??!!! Saw your post on the workout too. You really are such an inspiration to me and so committed. You’ve set your goals and are determined. So proud of you!!
@ Queen – Glad to read your post last week and you put your foot down with your son. Not getting a diploma is not an option. Good for you!! We really need good and honest mechanics. A very solid profession who can make very good money.
@ KarenL – So just because you’re at home your not a priority? Give me a break. Plain hogwash. Hang in there! I know you’ve been waiting for quite some time.
@ Jtconst – I’m thankful for my animal too. Our little Izzy is such a joy. She’s a Bichon/Poodle mix and just LOVES getting attention. She definitely loves us a ton more than we love her back that’s for sure.
@ Nettie – Yikes on the rug!! Luckily, you caught it in time. We noticed a water spot in our kitchen. We’re renting so I called the property management company. It seems the master toilet right above was leaking for quite some time. The plumber replaced the O ring, but doesn’t do drywall. Now I have this whole in the kitchen ceiling waiting for the next guy. It’s been 5 days. The joys of renting!! I saw your post on French Onion Soup, which is one of my favorites!! The sodium though is off the charts that’s for sure.
@ Kaye – I loved that you could see Nicole get her master’s degree on the Internet!! How cool is that??!! I know a few years ago we watched a friend get married in Vegas at midnight on the net. It was a hoot!!!
@ Nicole – Congrats!!! I know you’ve been so busy with school, work, trainer, etc. . . but you’re doing it!!! Super proud of you.
@P1xyn1xy – I’m so glad you’re OK, but sorry to hear about the car accident. Always scary stuff!! Totally can relate to the over eating, but we’re here and we’ll get right back on track very soon. December is almost over!!0 -
just hanging out today. Grandson is up early so we played in the rec room for a while before coming upstairs. Grandaughter ( 6 mos) was sitting in her play thing and got so excited to see me then cried when i went out of her sight. Her poor dad who was sitting right next to her felt like chopped liver!! she is a very sweet and mellow baby and i am enjoying being able to be with her for a few weeks.
too tired to work out today but am on track with calories so i hope i can stay in control tonight. Going to take my mom to a harp concert tonight and she is so excited.
hopefully i will pull out the christmas decorations tomorrow and grandson can help put decorate so there is something other than just lights on the tree...0 -
So I also forget to share my exciting weekend. On top of the non-stop baking last weekend (see pictures below) I had two parties. Our corporate office had a party Friday night at BJ's Brewhouse. Totally casual, which I love. Beer, pizza & salad - super fun. Saturday night was the formal party at our largest franchise's house. WOW! Not sure how many millions it was worth and I think there were 7 garages. Well, I was going to go down the gorgeous spiral marble staircase, but a co-worker wanted to take the elevator (yes, in the house). Well, my luck we got STUCK!! So for 45 minutes I'm stuck in the smallest little box with 2 other people and no air. We were sweating up a storm. I was the calm one while my co-worker and her live-in boyfriend of 12 years bickered back and forth the whole time. It was a rather comical event.

OMG!!! Those look amazing and yummy Susan!0 -
Ohio- Welcome to the group. You have found an amazing group of people. Happy Birthday and congrats on being a survivor.
Susan- The cookies look wonderful. I also have had weeks were exercise was very limited to almost non-existent. It will be okay and the rest can be good for your body. You will find the time in the coming weeks to work hard in the gym and I am sure your trainer will help you out in that area as well.
Goals-
1. Get the grading of the most recent labs started. Some still need to finish the work.
2. Exercise at least 3 more days this week.
3. Get back to the pool and swim for at least 30 minutes.
4. Get a decent night's sleep for a couple of nights in a row.
5. Wrap all my gifts this weekend and make sure my shopping is finished.
Thankful- For students who actually follow through on their desire to bring up their grades and stayed for office hours.0 -
Hey guys! I thought I would have more time to catch up tonight, but no such luck. Just a few personals:
@laurie--I'm with you on getting some sleep! I would be thankful for one solid night.
@susan--the cookies look great! I also haven't been to the gym in about a week and bad weather/busy schedule has even kept me from walking gunner. :ohwell:
@holly--congrats on finishing the school term with straight A's!! :drinker:
@tracy--I also haven't been lifting lately. Gym visits have been squeezed in after work and on those few visits I've focused more on cardio. My goal is to lift again tomorrow which I think will be the first time in 10 days or so. :blushing:
@lives--congrats on being within a pound of your 2013 goal!! :drinker:
@sweettea--welcome back!! :flowerforyou:
@kelley--I agree that fueling properly is so important! That's part of why I haven't lifted my past few gym visits. I went on days when I was noshing on empty sugary calories, and my primary goal was to burn off the excess glucose in my blood stream. With limited time, cardio is the easiest way to do that. Wowzer--1K calories is a lot to burn in one session of cardio! How many times per week will you have to meet that goal? I would have to run about 8 miles to reach that goal (which would take me about an hour and a half). You are so dedicated--if anyone can do it, it's you!
@kaye--I'm also missing my walks--same situation here. It was warm enough today--a "balmy" 33 degrees  --but there was so much ice and slush on the sidewalks, I didn't feel safe walking gunner. One little tug from him on those slippery surfaces and I would go down hard.
@michelle--ugh--sorry about your car. :grumble: My big fear right now is that mine won't make it through the winter. With these bitter cold temps and no garage, it sure isn't sounding happy when I start it in the morning.
@p1xy--so glad to hear no one was hurt!
@nettie--yes, my eating plan is good--it's my follow-through that stinks! I did really well yesterday, but am quite a bit over today. Even with the overage, my choices were a bit healthier. :ohwell:
Welcome to the newlings!!! :flowerforyou:
AFM--Yesterday was a crazy day. I was so tired from the weekend, and then DH met me at work right at 3:30 so we could leave straight from there to go to his sister's house a bit over an hour away. The snow started falling and made the drive even longer, but fortunately we left just early enough to miss the worst of rush hour traffic. We had a nice visit with my SIL, her DH, our oldest nephew, his wife, and their daughter. The three of them drove in from OH to visit, so it was great to spend time with them. The only down side was that we didn't get home until almost 10pm.
Once home, I had to prep a bunch of food for my students. We are reading The Importance of Being Earnest, and as a surprise today, I brought them cucumber sandwiches and bread & butter (for those unfamiliar--the characters eat these at a tea party). I had to get up earlier than usual to get everything set up in the classroom, but my students loved the treat and were very appreciative.
Tomorrow is our holiday luncheon at school, then Thursday is our Dept Holiday party after school My plan is to hit the gym hard tomorrow, so I need to get to bed and catch up on my sleep. Nighty-night all!
Grading goals:
1. 73/73 Tone vocabulary quizzes DONE!
2. 13/73 Journal reflections
Exercise goals:
Mon--nada
Tues--nada
Wed--walk gunner + gym (lift and HIIT)
Thurs--rest day (holiday party)
Fri--probably nothing (we usually go out for drinks before break)
Sat--walk gunner + gym (lift and HIIT)
Sun--walk gunner + gym (cardio)
Exercise & Weight:
Bench press = 85
Dead lift = 90
Squat = 90
Overhead press = 55
Upright row = 60
Overhead tricep extension = 25 (dumbbell)
Bicep curl = 15 (dumbbell)
Lat pull down = 100
Tricep pull down = 900 -
WHY HAVE I JUST FOUND THIS!?
since today is a Wednesday in Singapore, well.. let's start with my wishes!
I have never felt as though i fit in ANYWHERE, i suck at maintaining friendship and never felt as though I'm needed. So maybe getting accepted has always been number one for me. I pray that the Fates would grant me.
I love eating and i love cooking in any form! Unfortunately, i have little people to cook for. My greatest dream would probably to host some party or maybe just CATER to parties and just cook till i drop! :drinker:0 -
Oh My it is just exhausting reading about everybody's holiday plans and partys!
Sorry to hear about the car troubles and expenses. When a car breaks down the costs can be frightful, but way less than a new car - I am thankful for my 1999. It cost be a bundle this year but it keeps on running! So I hope your car recovers and you recover financially.
I am impressed with everyone keeping their eye on their bottom line. Good job logging or attempting to. THat is wonderful. Thank goodness this holiday season is shorter than some others. Haha Susans picture looked delicious, didn't it. SO TEMPTING TOO! Glad I'm not there with you, Susan, you would have lost a handful!
Sorry those of you with lousy snowy weather can't get out to exercise. Hope that changes for you soon. At least you teachers will have a chance to catch up a little on your sleep, is that right? You'll still probably have papers to grade though.
AFM - Had a friend over today and was talking with barely a lisp in the beginning but after 2 hours of speech it was back to a bad impediment. I guess I'm not used to talking that much. I better walk around the house talking to myself and building up my speech muscles! :laugh:0 -
Today was another day of hanging on by a thread. I don't like to wish my life away, but I really need this month to be over and the weather to get better. I am really missing my routine.
Today I had DD's two new foster boys over while she worked. They are 11 & 13, but won't be able to get into school until the placement hearing is held later this week. They are such nice boys. I'm thankful that their are people like my daughter to offer homes to these kids when their families are in crisis.
Welcome to the new ones. This is a great place for encouragement and support.
Keep hanging in there. Kaye0 -
Onward and downward.......right, Kaye? (had to say that for good luck!) Sorry you're struggling - better the struggle now than having to lose it later, though.
Amanda - welcome and glad you found us - now come back every day - that's pretty much what we all do - we become regulars, and the support becomes a tremendous part of our success. We even exchange recipes sometimes, so we can nourish those dreams of yours!0 -
@skinnyjeanz - Love that you took the time to make something for your students. I'm sure they love you and your class. Kids know when adults care and when they're just trying to look like they do. Clearly you're part of the first group.
@susan - Amazing cookies! Glad they're on my screen and not on my counter. My exercise has suffered as well between work, holiday shopping and planning, baking for friends and just the typical holiday craziness. Move more is on the top of my 2014 resolutions list.
@kaye - I hate walking on the treadmill even when I'm watching a show on the iPad. It's just not the same as getting out and seeing what's happening in the neighborhood. I have to go out for at least a short walk with the dog every day, but I feel so guilty when we head home after only going around the block. I think he's as disappointed as I am. January and February are going to be rough!
@robin - Glad you had a nice visit with your friend. I'm sure talking will become easier as you continue to heal.
AFM - All the Holiday treats are baked, delivered and out of my house. Presents are wrapped. Now for the meal planning, shopping and cleaning. I'm cooking for 12 on both Christmas and New Year's Eve plus having to cook for the 4 of us for all of Christmas week. I'll be glad to go back to my simple and quick recipes once the year is over. I've gotten used to not thinking about food other than pre-logging every night for the next day. Having to worry about feeding all these people is stressing me out and making me hungry. I keep telling myself it'll all be over soon. I don't want to wish my life away or not enjoy this time with my family and friends, but I will be one happy person on 1/1/14.0 -
Wednesday Wish: Today one of the bigwigs is coming to observe my class. My boss gave me the heads up yesterday. I brushed it off like nothing. But then one of my aides told me it is one of the ones you have to watch out for because she will "tear you up and spit you out". Then my aides started telling me all the stories of how nasty she has been to employees in the past. I have to admit it made me a little nervous. My wish today is that the observation goes well. I hope the likes what I am doing with my students. My game plan is just to do what I normally do and try not to sweat it. Like I said to my husband last night "What is the worst that can happen? They fire me?" :noway: (Just breathe, just breathe, just breathe)
Gratitude: Last night I was driving home from work and the roads were icy. I was on a dark windy road in a heavily wooded area. Something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. I looked out my passenger window and saw two deer come out of the woods. They were prancing along side of my car. Literally, along side. If I had a passenger with me who opened the window and stuck their hand out they would have been able to touch the deer. I was in awe at their beauty. It was truly a magical moment. The moment lasted for about a minute and then I passed them. As I drove away I looked in my rear view window and watched them leap across the road. The car behind me had to slam on their breaks to let them pass. I am grateful that they just ran alongside my car and didn't try to cross in front of me. If they had, I doubt I would have been able to stop without hitting them. My second gratitude is that I was able to experience such a beautiful moment in nature. It was magical!
Third gratitude post - I am grateful that my husband figured out where the leak was coming from and was able to fix it without having to call in someone. We now have use of the dishwasher again! We managed to get all the water out of our rug and dry it out. I plan on pulling out the shampooer this weekend and giving it a good cleaning when I have more time.
Lives2Travel - I am so excited that Christmas is right around the corner. It sounds like you have a good plan in place for how to deal with the holidays.
Tracy - Congrats on the 3.2 loss!
Mnwalking - Congrats on the A's!
Susan - All those baked goodies look heavenly! Oh no to being stuck in the elevator. I am glad you found humor in the situation.
SKinny - I love that you surprised your students with cucumber sandwiches! I am glad they loved the treat and were appreciative.
Robin - I can picture you walking around your house with hand weights doing bicep curs or something of the sort while talking to yourself. :laugh:0 -
@Holly~Congrats on being done with finals!
@Susan~You are so sweet, thanks! :blushing: We all go through periods where exercise just isn’t going to happen, whether it’s our schedule or our bodies just need a break – don’t fret about it too much, you have made such great strides and dedication to your workout program this year that you’ll get back into your routine. I’m so proud of the commitment to exercise you’ve made this year. Yummy looking cookies! This weekend I’m baking a lighter version of the cranberry bliss bars from Starbucks and my famous fudge.
@Karen~My trainer didn’t really elaborate but it sounded like he wanted me to do that at every cardio session, I have to work out a long time also – 60-90 minutes depending on what I’m doing. I was exhausted all day yesterday from the fiasco on Monday, but today I’m armed with a Luna bar and Gatorade G2. I hope my body can keep up! What a great treat for your students and I like how it entwined with the current subject matter.
@Ohio4me~Happy Birthday! Congrats on being a cancer survivor and deciding to make a lifestyle change.
@Laurie~I’m so glad you have students that are interested in and willing to get the extra help or do the extra work to bring up their grades, that is probably a rarity among middle school students. I would love some extra sleep too!
@Kaye~I’m kind of OCD and plan for everything, so don’t deal well when my routine is thrown out of whack either.
@Nettie~Best of luck with your observation today! You have a great rapport with your students and you have helped some of them so much, they trust you – the bigwig will sense that, you’ll do great! :flowerforyou: I love reading your descriptions of the beauty that lies in the area you live in, it’s very poetic.
@Tracey~LOL, they may as well give me a cot! Hooray for the loss and getting back into your lifting routine!
AFM~Had a session with my trainer yesterday, did some kettle bell routines – otherwise we kept it low-key, I was still feeling tired from the hypoglycemia the night before. I’m more prepared now with energy bars and Gatorade if needed. I’m also increasing my calories/carbs from here on out (healthy, low GI complex carbs of course) – I need the glycogen storage for these workouts so I don’t have that “4th quarter” loss of stamina as my trainer put it.
Wednesday Wish~I'm still wishing for my promotion and raise...
Exercise Goals:
Monday~Gym, arc trainer DONE!
Tuesday~Gym, training session DONE!
Wednesday~Gym, elliptical
Thursday~Gym, training session
Friday~Rest Day (meeting friend for HH and then finish shopping)
Saturday~10k or gym for running drills (depends on weather and how much shopping I finish Friday)
Sunday~Gym, training session0 -
Forgot my Wednesday wish..... I wish the manufacturers of women's clothing would get together and standardize sizing.
All my size 18 pants (Macy's Charter Club brand) are getting ridiculous looking. I mean I like seeing that they are loose, but they're getting to the clown pants stage. So I went to my stock of pants in the closet and tried on all the size 16 long pants I could find. And not one damn pair fit. That's because they are all "skinny" brands like Gap, Talbots and Anne Taylor Loft. If they were Charter Club or Land's End they would have fit just fine. So now, when I have more than enough to do dealing with the Holidays, I have to go on a hunt for size 16 pants that are cut like size 16 and not 14.
Ugh..... can't we just have what men enjoy and have standard sizing? It's really not too much to wish for.0 -
Gratitude. Today I am thankful that I have my Christmas shopping done (finished last night at 7:59). That leads me to my Wednesday wish: I hope I get organized soon. Not a single present wrapped, need to finish up cookies, figure out my shopping list etc, etc. We are doing a Shepherd's Run at church on Christmas Eve so I need to decide what I'm going to take. After church on Christmas Eve, we take these platters to those that have to work on Christmas Eve...hospitals, nursing homes, policy stations, fire stations etc. and say Thank You! It will be a good lesson for my kids (well, all of us really). They sacrifice time with their friends and family to take care of those that need it and keep us all safe.
@KarenLeona...my kids were 6 months at Christmas time and I loved it! My dad would say that was a great time...they have personality but can't crawl yet and get into things. It's awesome that she loves her Grandma! I lived so far away it would take my kids a day or two to warm up to my family.
@Susan...That's a lot of cookies! I had a friend that used to do trays like that. She has moved out of state in November and her list went from like 30 down to 5. She's okay with it, but I used to be on her list (and it would include a jar of homemade jam too) and I miss it. I would have not been okay with that elevator, the older I get the more claustrophobic I get.
@Karen...sounds like a nice visit with family. Cool treat for your students...they'll remember the book, tea party and you forever.
@Kaye...I agree, people like your DD are heaven's gift to our world. Those boys are very lucky to become part of such a wonderful family.
@JNettie...From the sounds of it, I think just doing what your normally do is the way to go...she'll see that you have a great connection with the kids.
@Travel...I AGREE!!!
AFM: I had way too much sodium yesterday and not enough water and I am paying for it today. Yuck! I wish I could just remember how I feel the next day when I'm making bad choices. Did get my lifting in and while it seems strange to be lifting light weights, I was very impressed with how deep my squats were -- yay me! :smokin: Today is a busy day and I'm not going to get in any exercise....we sign our papers for the house (they have to be in SD by Friday), chiropractor appointment, Christmas party for my son at church, Jacob also has ensemble practice as they perform on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday at church and then I'll wrap up with choir practice. Maybe when I get home, I can get out my paper and pen and make sure I get my to do list written down so I can focus. :flowerforyou:0
