It is not my priority to establish your emotional condition and then trot around it as not to offend you. If you mistake honesty for someone not being humble that's on you. My priority is to be honest not fake so the expectations of the friends I add are not deceitful. I am in no way perfect, I never will be. But I will not conform so that I act and say the things you feel I should in the way you feel I should. Never going to happen. If I am not mistaken the comment above clearly states I admit to being a noob as we all once were. Accepting all help and being very appreciative...I guess your humble and my humble have diff meanings. Whatever floats your boat sir. As my nieces say to me all the time...Aunt T get in where ya fit in. I will not apologize for being a square peg and I will never fit in that circular opening. But thank you for your concern, I suggest you use it on someone who values your opinions on humility.

So when you said 'Any guidance is well accepted and appreciated' you meant 'any guidance will be thrown back in your face in a faux-intellectual manner, further reinforcing your initial assessment of me that I am just rude and full of myself and justifying it as nonconformity.'

Got it. Glad we could clear that up.

Please note...I did not start in on this thread until I saw she insulted someone for lifting. Calling them a meathead moron. Sooooo. You have that and the fact that anyone will tell you I am not part of any "hive mind" I develop my own opinions.

    I lift and I have a pit bull. Clearly I'm a meathead.

Good grief, I have been using My Fitness Pal on my IPad and decided to check on the forums today for recipe ideas and workout info. Wow you guys are so welcoming! <sarcasm. It seems like many of the responses to the OP have been very snarky. Thank goodness I only have 10 pounds to lose before my cruise and don't need friends/motivation from the folks on this board because some of you really do perpetuate the stigma of fat, grumpy, miserable people. I don't know why you guys are giving the OP such a hard time. Her itchy answers fit right in with the rest of you.

Nothing wrong with a meaty head.

I'd rather be a wolf than a sheep.

I'd rather be a forest than a street. Yes, I would. If I could. I surely would.

not sure if I'm easily entertained or this is actually extremely funny
  • Yeah I vote troll too, unless this person has been living under a rock and never learned how to introduce herself or make friends properly lol. OP, and person who apparently re-activated their account in solidarity, a good tip for making new friends is to not come across as completely abrasive and pompous RIGHT off the hop. You have to ease your way into that *kitten* after you've lulled people into thinking you're a good person.

Why waste time just be honest who you are and how you are. Not everyone has to like you or be your friend. I sure don't agree "lulling" them under false pretense to lower the boom that AHA! you are indeed not that great of a person is good at any level. To each their own though. if that is how you find your friends kudos to you. I choose to go the no BS route. Those worthy or companionship will get it those who don't never will. It really is that simple, and in my opinion better than being "lulling".

OP responds to what she perceives as a rude comment with another rude comment, then realizes rude comment was actually sarcasm. Admits she was wrong, gets told she is a piece of crap with a bad personality and possibly has Asperger's.

Okay, I'm starting to understand this place a bit better.

    1. OP showed true colors in that first response, in my opinion.
    2. OP's profile sets a high standard for herself, which she's failed to demonstrate.
    3. I have actually tried to give two pieces of genuine advice in this thread - one was ignored, the other was thrown back in my face with another handful of insult sprinkled in for good measure.

    Ah well.

OP explicitly states that they feel superior to most other people they meet. Also that they have thick skin. Then reacted abrasively to what can only be referred to as a little mild good-natured ribbing. From that point on, it was open fire, all weapons.

There were two ways this could have gone. The ribbing could have been taken good naturedly, with a little funny back and forth, or this could have happened.

So which one are you saying happened?

Because this seems really funny back and forth to me.

  • Wooah, OP, is Hudson House still there? Or Grandma's Buffet?

Never heard of those two places.

Unfortunately the odds are not in your favour if you believe you have to quit "everything" to have successful weightloss. Many people here have had fantastic results without giving up anything.

^^^This! Also, these forums are full of smart ashes, so if you're bothered by that you may want to avoid them. I try to avoid them, but can't seem to stay away.

Is it b/c she says she doesn't get sarcasm? I think she does get it and just got butthurt considering she used sarcasm in a reply:

    [/quote]

Many people with Asperger syndrome want to be sociable but have difficulty with initiating and sustaining social relationships, which can make them very anxious. People with the condition may:

struggle to make and maintain friendships
not understand the unwritten 'social rules' that most of us pick up without thinking. For example, they may stand too close to another person, or start an inappropriate topic of conversation
find other people unpredictable and confusing
become withdrawn and seem uninterested in other people, appearing almost aloof
behave in what may seem an inappropriate manner.

Apologies if offence is caused, only saying it kind of fits....

    Want some advice?

Eat at a deficit, get out and move around. Lurk in the forums and read up on some of the helpful threads that can be found, and don't take yourself or anyone else so seriously. This forum can be very helpful, but it can also spin out of control quickly ... see previous 8 pages...
