Weird. I haven't gotten (or noticed) those comments.

I just saw my first "comment", I scanned an item in using my phone app...it said "good plan it's low in saturated fat"...hahahaha...

And it substracted those calories from my daily total (I didn't have 1670 calories left tho... ) so it's either just the phone app or phone app with scanning...

I wish we coud get to the boards easier too. I go into FAQ and go thru like four pages to get to it. It's ridiculous!

This is real?!? I honestly thought this thread was a joke.

    Warnings about sodium???

Warnings about dietary cholesterol content of a particular food???

Congratulation you for the fat content of a specific food item???

How is each and every one of these relevant to otherwise healthy individuals anyhow? Are we still back in the sodium is bad/dietary cholesterol is bad/fat is bad thinking from decades ago?

Just when I think MFP can't do something to surprise me, they do this.

    I'm dumbfounded. Truly.

I posted about this the other day. Do you have me on hide?!

    Nope, not hidden...

...but I have a very powerful natural ignore filter.

I'll put you back on notice now since you apparently sometimes say something useful.

    Aha!

I bet this is the trigger. Those who aren't getting the friendly MFP app advice, try scanning a UPC...

...and then come back and complain.

I have the iphone but I scanned and there was still no comments (and it updated today)

ETA: Not that I want this active at all.

I hardly ever make status updates, that means they should immediately catch your eye. My plan isn't working.

Some people were saying it may only be on android.

We need a bunch of android MFP app users to try scanning foods to see if it's reproducible...

...this annoying message bug, that is.

If so, that might help the MFP developers to squash this ridiculousness before it needlessly annoys even more users.

I just scanned with my android and nothing happened. It didn't tell me processed cheese crackers are bad for me.

    I am in Canada, though...

I kinda like to be judged. Bring it on, MFP. (But make it disableable for people that don't want it.)

I absolutely love that MFP is devoting their attention to this lovely new feature instead of fixing one of the many, many existing bugs in their apps. I have the Windows Phone app and it blows up every few days, usually after I dare to <gasp> actually interact with my friends. I had to uninstall/reinstall four times one day. Four. And this is what they choose to spend their resources doing.

    Awesome.

I just scanned a box of Cheez Its, and now it's saying I've hit my protein goal for today. The other day it said "Yee haw! You hit your protein goal for today!" after I switched Greek yogurt brands in my diary.

    As page 1 this thread.
Everytime I scanned to add another slice of the same bread yesterday it did it.

Today it's doing it even when I select it from recent foods.

Sounds like this new bug is adapting and becoming even more problematic then.

I hope the developers figure out how to eliminate it before it spreads to iOS users as well.

What? This can't be real. Can it?

The thing that bothers me most about this is the influx of people we'll have into the forums terrified by the pointless nagging warnings the app is giving. We'll have 24 year old, normal-weight, active people in the forums trying to lose 10 lbs freaking out because MFP is yelling at them for eating a Power Bar that has too much sugar.

I created a new user account and added dozens of eggs and candy bars to the diary. Haven't been able to replicate this functionality. It must have rolled out only to a select few users.

I have the latest version, yes. It's listed as version 3.1.

It's possible it's built into the latest version and is turned on for certain users as a beta test or something. I know of other apps that do something similar.

It's strange. You would've thought it would go to iOS first.

Historically they (iOS customers); usually get things first, like being told what they want, and enjoy fruitless functions that other's just find annoying.

But then if it's in Beta, perhaps the affected haven't found this thread yet.

    or the internet.

So how was the candy bar?

Hahaha! I actually didn't have one, I was just trying to get a message to pop up for me. It didn't work. Perhaps it read my mind and knew I wasn't really having it?

I just scanned in 10 blocks of Godiva dark chocolate (600 calories, 45g fat, 42.5g carbs, 10g protein). Nothing. Scanned a protein bar. Still nothing.

I'm glad I'm not getting the messages and now have NO plans to perform future updates to the app. lol

    Exactly!

    I don't like this app...it reads minds.

Android user (v3.1). Just added 3 servings of Chips Ahoy cookies and 2 servings of a nice fatty camembert cheese. No shaming by the app :frown:

ETA: did so via barcode scanner.
