For you calorie counters, please be advised that if you do go over on your calories, it's not the number of calories you should be concerned about. It's what's in those calories you should pay attention to. As long as you are eating right, and according to your health goal, you will be fine even if you go over on calories. Lean meats, protein snacks, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains go a very long way. If you are eating these things daily, eliminating the sugars, laying off on the fried foods, leaving the alcohol alone, and staying away from the bad fats, you are going to be fine. It's not all about the calories, ladies and gents. It's what's in those calories that matters.
No. no no no no. You can get fat on fruit, vegetable and whole grains alone.0 -

IN!
My first 2000 calories will only be carbs and fats.
My other 4000 calories will only be protein. So I should be fine and totally lose lots of weight. Thanks guy!!!0 -
I do not believe - like you do - that a hot boiled potatoes will magically halve in calorific value when it cools down - only special snowflakes believe that one!
Please don't tell lies about me.
Thanks.
Nope not lies you actually suggested that resistant starches were only half the calories so the statement of calories eaten was correct (it was in the calories in vs calories out thread from several days back)-
Lying seems to be your expert area (well mis-quoting and twisting facts).
I'm lost on how you turn "resistant starches were only half the calories" (which is not quite true, and not something I ever said) into "hot boiled potatoes will magically halve in calorific value when it cools down."
Hehehe,....you guys again?
All i know are Hobbitzez have a pretty high BMI. Therefore boiled po tay toez arent healthy.

Then why did I get fat while depriving myself of sugars and processed foods and eating only chicken breast, fish, fruits, nuts, veggies, etc? Yes, the correct balance of carbs, fats, and proteins is important for a healthy body, but you can eat a caloric deficit of pure table sugar and still lose weight. You can eat a caloric surplus in only "healthy" foods and you will still gain weight.
So, You are very wrong, sir. It is the proper amount of calories that determines weight gain, loss, or maintenance and the proper balance of macros to ensure optimal organ function and body composition and health. BOTH are important, but you CANNOT eat only "healthy" foods in a caloric surplus and expect to lose or maintain weight. Impossible even if you only eat spinach.0 -

FAAAAALLLLLLLSSSSSSEEEEEE. How much you weigh is EXACTLY due to the amount of calories you consume. What's in those calories matters for optimal health. . . for example, you can eat a caloric deficit in pure table sugar and nothing else and you will lose weight. You can eat a caloric surplus in only lean meat and spinach and be severely obese. Calories determine weight, a good balance of carbs, fats and proteins determines your health. BOTH are important. Please don't mislead people into thinking they can eat as much "healthy" food as they want and maintain a healthy weight. I banned all "unhealthy" foods from my diet for a looong time and over-ate on "healthy" foods and guess what? I wasn't healthy. I was about 200lbs and miserable. Now I count calories and focus on hitting my macronutrient goals and sometimes that includes candy and cake. I am healthier now than I was over-eating nothing but "good" foods.
To anybody just starting out, please disregard his advice and do your own research.0
