I'm so confused. Is this a naked pagan event that's not really a legal marriage but a celebration of their commitment to each other?

Does anyone really want to go to a naked wedding? I know you didn't say "naked" per se, but you say it isn't for the general public, and it's in the back yard, so I think "naked."

Sephora is a retail store for various brands. If they have their own line now, I haven't heard about it.

Hmm... always thought they had their own line.

They do have their own line. I like their products. I don't buy makeup often, but they have a nice line.

Yes, and by the looks of her expectations, you should be using whatever you can find at the dollar store.

    Exactly! haha

Ah... so it is my definition of a "lifestyle" wedding.

Yep. I've used their lipstick, eye shadow, and blush. Not any of the actual coverage makeup so I don't know what that's like.

Sorry about the derail, shutting up. Carry on

Yeah, I edited my earlier response...I never used their products.

I'm not saying the products are bad or not bad....But brides expect a particular product when they're paying for your services....with the BUDDY DISCOUNT those expectations need to go out the dang window.

My MUA for my wedding used an elf gloss for me and gave it to me as a gift. :embarassed:

Also, Sephora has had its own line for awhile? As does ULTA.

And they pushed the time back to 4.

Cancel your event. Honestly, a Mid Summer party sounds lame as hell.

    Are you ****ing serious?!?!?!

    You are so trolling!

There is absolutely no way you got the invite within hours of creating this "vent" thread.

Here I was thinking you were being sincere for once. *eyeroll*

Everything is drama when you surround yourself with people who create it, regardless of religious preference.

I did get the event invite just now, and it's letting guests arrive at 4 than starting at 6. I will at the very least stop in with gifts for the couple.

And yes, I'm glad to know that I was invited even if I won't be able to spend the whole evening with them.

    this doesn't make sense.

she was complaining that your event was the same date, but didn't question whether or not you got the invitation? if she invited you, and you are friends, once she saw that you were planning something you'd think she would have said "hey, are you not coming to my ceremony?" Instead, she complained about it. That doesn't make sense.

anyone else think that makes any sense whatsoever?

    not me.

unless she invited you after the fact in an effort to get you to change your event.

i don't know. I just wanted to find out what handfasting was.

I am just venting. I will talk to them about it calmly, but I just want to make sure not to let emotions get twisted because I do truly care and honestly don't know if I was supposed to assume I was invited or if it is a more private event.

It sounds like a mis-communication at best, and if that is the case I'm not sure if it can be undone, except possibly pushing our Midsummer back a few hours and doing both, but that would seriously affect how much time I have to prep for our event, but possible, but I don't even know if I'm invited or to be invited or not invited at all.

If there isn't much overlap in friends and you weren't invited to the wedding, there's really nothing to be upset about on either side. I could maybe see being a little upset if like half of the guest list or more would have to choose between your two events, because then that would be stressful on the guests deciding where to go and whose feelings to hurt, but that doesn't sound like the case here. Just do your own thing and let them do theirs.

You're on to something....If that were the case, why the hell would you humor her by going to her wedding when she's only inviting you so that you don't sabotage her wedding.

    I wish I would've gotten it yesterday.

Unfortunately there is a lot of pressure to plan the events way the hell in advance because so many people have to put in to take off work, and the event is held in a different location, and I have to make sure others are available for the event to go, so it takes at the bare minimum three people to agree on a date for it.
