I always said I'd never get tattoos, until I saw shows like Miami Ink and realized that they could make a stencil out of one of my own drawings to tattoo! I now have 3. I made a point of asking if there were specific places I could get tattoos on my overweight body that would have minimal warping if I lost a lot of weight (as I'm currently doing). I have one on the inside of each lower arm, and one on the outside of one of my calves. I also like those places as I can see them on myself, but I can choose to cover them up by wearing 3/4 length sleeves or a 3/4 length skirt.0

That's an awesome tatt I don't have many...I also want to get one on my upper back soon...& yes it's a matter of personal opinion...I like on the legs back shoulders & arms...I guess what I should've asked is what was your fav' spot to get a tatt?0

I have 9. Top of arms, shoulder, legs and feet. I love my feet ones and have bats on one and a broomstick on the other but they were mist definitely the most painful. Ouch.0

I LOVE tattoos! I have two on my back. I'm getting one of them extended as a reward for reaching my goal weight (when I get there!) It's currently about 6 inches x 2.5 inches. I want it extending so it's more 12 inches x 7 inches. Can't wait xx0

Two half sleeves on my arms, a large lower back piece, both inner wrists, back of neck, breast, and ankle. They all have a lot of meaning to me and I love to show them. Got my first one when I was 19 and hope to keep getting them until I run out of skin! People always ask me "What will you do when you're 80?" Um, I'll be an 80 year old tattooed lady - got a problem with that?! lol0
-
& I too love tatt... see a nicely done tatt' but one that really annoys me that I see on many guys is the one with lips on the neck..lol...Idk why...I def want to get some more...& would love to get one on my upper arm but I want to tone my arms first..0

I have 3 upto now! My favorite is a garter on my thigh. I love it, its hot!0

I have 9, 3 down my right arm, 1 on my left arm, 1 @ the top of my spine/bottom of my neck, 1 1/2 way down my spine and 1 on each shoulder..oh and my foot too.. My foot is my favorite, i have stars all dwon it and was designed by the tattooist so it's a 1 off! I'd say have somewhere fleshy tattooed first, less pain, my foot was definately the worst pain and quite frankly i'd rather have the operation i had on my kidneys again than have my foot tattooed again! But i love it so i've forgotten the pain (like childbirth?) I'm a total wimp and have to have something to distract me from the pain so take a book or keep all your texts in your mobile phone, re read em all and delete em one by one (that's what i did with a few lol)0

I have 20! I started at age 16 and just kept going. I have them pretty much everywhere-but the most painful was the tops of my feet...and on my back towards my sides.0

I have 9.
Three on my right arm - at the top, 4 going down my spine and two larger onces on either side of my back at the top - shoulder sort of area.
They are addictive.
As someone has said - placing is personal.
:O)0 -
i have one. right calf. it's a reminder of my first pregnancy (i lost her). I plan to get another one to go with her, which will be her brother.
I'm the firm belief that a tattoo isn't worth getting unless it really means something to you. but that might just be me.0 -
I love tattoos & I have 12...shop around & research.Find a good artist & a reputable shop0
-
Woww...the ladies love the tatts...I'm getting lots of feedback from you all...I got my first one when I turned 18..& it's sucks that they're still stereotyped ...they're becoming more accepted tho'...0
-
I have one - I got it when I was 18 and I looove it. I remember nearly passing out and throwing up when the guy was putting the stencil on!! LOL....but I was fine through the tattooing! It is on my left hip of 3 butterflies in a pink haze. Unfort they have developed an extra line around them due to my weight gain plus from my pregnancies, but I figure they will pop back when I lose weight (I was slim when I was 18) or I will just get them fixed.
Placement is a personal choice BUT I too think that it has to mean something.
My next one is going to be something dedicated to my two sons and will be on the inside of my calf - maybe a symbol, words or a vine....still thinking. I am worried it will hurt like hell down there!!0 -

Least fav spot is lower back. I thought getting my spine tattoo'd hurt but that was like a relaxing massage compared to the lower back....Ouch !
Yes they are addictive, i only went in for the chinese symbols (my daughters name).
For research and idea's a good site is www.checkoutmyink.com profile (aid172)

I love tatts!!! I got 3 (A huge lower back sun/moon, tiger on left hip and dragon on right peck) and would get WAY more. But like to be able to hide them when I choose to. Am thinking about my next one - a memorial tatt for my daughter. Just not sure where to get it.
Almost died with my dragon - well not really, but it hurt. My tiger was a walk in the park. My Sun/moon was like a burning sensation... They were all worth it, and well you gotta 'earn' your tatt! They are addictive, glad I was low on cash when I started cause for sure I would have been covered by now.0 -
I'm a huge body modification fan. Have several tattoos and piercings. In fact, I practically LIVE over at bodymod.org.
I have several tattoos planned, but what I have right now, in chronological order, are:
-A sea turtle on my butt, right cheek (first tattoo!)
-A petroglyph sea turtle on my back between shoulder blades
Kanji that says "Patience" on my lower back (yes, it was a tramp stamp before I knew what they were. And yes, it really says patience. Yay for the multicultural-ness of Hawaii!)
-Shamrock with a celtic knot design inside it on right ankle
-Started my back piece, 16 hours of work so far, maybe 5 more to go... It incorporated the turtle and kanji so they're no longer seperate tattoos. It's a memorial for my little sister who passed away in '02. There are 3 koi and a lotus blossom in it so far. Message me and I'll explain the meanings behind it all.
-Lyrics from a NIN song on my right calf "As lost as I get I will find you"
I've got plans for another on my left calf, the start of a sleeve, and a few more for undecided places. I'm not much of a person for spontaneous tattoos. Err, I should rephrase that. Tattoos that are picked off the wall of flash on a whim without any reason. But, that's just me. I *AM* a bit of a snob when it comes to choosing artists, shops, etc, and who I will allow to tattoo/pierce me. After all, it's MY body, I want it to stay safe. No hep C, thanks! LOL0 -
I'm a teacher so have positioned the two i have where they can be hidden when i work. One is on my left shoulder and one is across the top of my back.0

Tattoos can be VERY sexy in my opinion. Even with someone who has a lot... if they are done well, it adds to the attractiveness. But I've seen people with ONE tattoo that was horrible and it was a total turn-off. "Alt Models" are becoming more and more popular and are often portrayed as pin-ups these days. Truth is, I'd prefer them over "normal" models.
If I can ever get someone to do the design I want, I'd have a nice half sleeve (it would be of General Kwan Yu with his Kwan-Dao staff). I dont know what I would have in the "background" other than mist or clouds... but would love cherry blossoms or something along that line. That would be on my left arm. I want a "tribal" dragon design in the form of a Chinese dragon on my right arm, done in an armband.
That being said... getting a tattoo is something serious. You should get a stencil done or a temp tattoo and wear that for a while to see how you like it. And make sure that you have scoped out parlors to find the best artist for what you want to do. Most importantly, make sure that whatever it is you get, has meaning to you, or you'll just end up regretting it later. And you cant completely get rid of a tattoo, so be sure it's what you want.0 -

That's another important thing with tattoos... unless you plan on working in an industry where that's the norm, make sure it's somewhere that is easily concealable.0 -
I have two, and I'm going to get my 3rd when I hit 15 pounds lost. They're from my own drawings.
First was on Halloween last year, the day my wonderful black cat Fergus died. Now he'll always be in his favorite place, on my belly smiling up at me.
I love how his face just peeps up over my waistband when I'm in jeans. I'll love it more when my belly is more toned... (Crappy cell phone pic taken in the mirror then I got my belly button pierced.)
My second was about two weeks later, of a Maneki Neko (Lucky Cat), based on what two of my other cats look like. It's on my calf.
Eventually, I'd either like to get a black one on the other leg, or a Foo Dog drawn to resemble my Pekingese. But next will be a Scottish thistle with my maiden name's family motto under it. I would consider getting our family crest, but it's three boars' heads on a sheild, and I'd like something a little more feminine than a bunch of mean looking piggie-heads. :laugh:0 -
I have two tats. One on each arm. When I'm happy with some progress I've made [in terms of weight loss/fitness] I'm getting another. I don't know what and I don't know where on my body, but I'm getting one. ;-)0

Hahaha, Mr Sharp there knew me back when I was sweet and innocent, with virgin skin...
All of the tattoos I had gotten back in Hawaii was while I was working for a bank. None could be seen. The others I've accumulated can only be seen if I want them to be. Right now I'm working off and on in a friends hair salon. I'll be starting cosmetology school in Sept (financial aid allowing... *crosses fingers*) and working with her full time. She had a sleeve that she hated, because she wasn't very picky about her artist. I came along, we became the best of friends, and I found her an artist to re-work it into something amazing. She's now discussing her other sleeve with that artist.
In our industry, we can look however we want. She and I are our own bosses. What matters is our talent. Well, we'll see if I have any talent or not... :P0 -
