Hello and happy Sunday from Omaha. Did a little gardening today. DH took DD#2 for her first driving lesson. She came home startled that driving would actually be work! The housesitter is coming over later so I can pay her then it’s time to dye the hair again. UGH! Gets so old but I am NOT ready to be grey!

Jane: house hunting can be exhausting. I hope you find something soon! You are so kind to make cards for those kids! Congratulations on a new grandbaby to love up!!!

Cynthia: if you want to feel like Michele, you need to go move 1 million pounds of river rock!

Yanniejannie: I’m so sorry you are sick. I usually stomp my feet when I don’t feel well too! No, I don’t think it’s mean to send that
couple a nice card; I can’t believe the DD would stoop to asking people for money for that trip. I do think that is becoming more common now though. It’s ridiculous!

Alison: enjoy your visit. The pasta sounded great

Heather: I bet you looked mah-velous! I love the idea of a matching dyed lymphedema sleeve! What a great idea!

Patceoh: nervy nellies! I love it!

Renny: (and others)…I agree that we are always grateful about the mammos being routine these days. My mom had breast cancer detected by a mammo when it was very small. I never miss mine!

Barbie: great idea to talk on the Bluetooth so you are not tied to the house. Hope Jake feels better

Michele: more river rock!!!! I bet you have nightmares about the stuff. You didn’t ask me, but we have had trees removed on
some rental properties and they come back after a couple of weeks and grind up the stump down into the ground so nothing will “sprout” from it. That costs extra.

Sylvia: first happy birthday! Second I did read your whole post and I don’t blame you at all. We found out firsthand about gas at high altitude during our vacation. We couldn’t hardly eat a thing we felt so stuffed. I was worried about my blood sugars and then it dawned on me….gas expands! I hope when you look back you’ll have a memory or two that are nice!

Kim: I totally agree with your take on “deserve”!

Lestan: your Sunday routine sounds lovely

Cynthia: I find that the night before vacation starts is the best part!

Carol: sounds like you are having a great time with the house and the excitement of looking at new places

Becky: Key West is one of my favorite places and the only place I have visited more than twice. Last time we drove from Miami…what a great trip

    Lin: nice to see you!

Well ladies. I see the housesitter pulling up so I am off. Enjoy the rest of the day. I plan to go to work tomorrow and start up my exercise again, so that I will be ahead at work and healthier…sentiment “borrowed” from Margaret who seems very wise! Take care, Meg from sunny and windy Omaha

We went to the Oregon coast to pick up deck paint for our son at a marine supply store. I haven't seen that much traffic on the roads in YEARS! The economy must be improving. There were tons of people with travel trailers, and only a few with motor homes. I am glad to be home.:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou:

Hello all: DGD was a greeter with me at church this morning. We are all tired around here but must get really busy tomorrow as we fly out at 6:30 am on Tuesday to Sacramento. Looking forward to the trip. Will be gone for two weeks, probably no computer.

Had my mammogram last Thursday. Radiologist wants to do a biopsy of two microcalcifications in right breast but PCP and breast care specialist say not necessary. Glad for that. Radiologist has much too narrow focus. Had biopsy of same area previously for same reason and it was undiagnostic due to hemorrhage and had to stop procedure.

Heather - Your holiday sounds fantastic.

Kim - Hope the heat wave ends before we arrive although we will be up in the foothills so maybe cooler.

Healing angels to all who need them and congratulations to those with victories. See you in August!!! Sue in SD

    Hello ladies. I didn't disappear.

Dee Dee I did look at your pics of your kitchen so far and it looks marvelous.

Kim, I purposefully skimmed over reading your recipe for fantasy fudge. I didn't even want to know about it!!!1:laugh:

Last week Kohl's had a lot of shorts.

Sylvia, I read your whole post also and I feel for you. Making the trip just to say you went to Canada is silly. But you were able to make that trek up and down the mountain and that is something.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Of course we could sit in a room and stare at each other and we would have a good time. The heat index got as high as 103. It was a 30% chance of scattered thunderstorms. The morning was a little cloudy and cool but the afternoon was clear and HOT. I am so glad Charlie never complains about me renting a scooter. But the scooters are one size fits all and the seat gets further and further away from the controls as I get thinner. It is cool enough in the morning that you stay in the amusement park and leave the water park for the afternoon. So the first thing we did when we got to the water park was sit in the wave pool. The rest of the fam got up to the front of the wave pool to get the strongest of the waves. I knew how tired I already was so I didn't do that. My dear husband found a place in the shade. He was in his swim trunks and shoes and didn't get wet at all in Splashin Safari. With my disability pass some one in your party can go to the front of the line by going through the exit ramps to talk to the attendant and get a return time. 2 of the rides gave us a 2 hour wait time. But we just arrive at the written time and just walk on! It is great. I think my fit bit sensed me riding up the ramps because it said I walked 13 flights of stairs!!!!! I know I didn't. I was also able to get myself out of all the rides by myself and not be humiliated by having to have my SIL help me.

I ate pretty decent at lunch. We go to the only place in the park that is like a cafeteria. I had green beans that were seasoned with garlic which I'm not used to but there was no butter. I gave my cornbread to my oldest DGD which was upset that since she is still 12 she could get the kids meal. I gave half my corn on the cob to the other DGD who has 2 empty arms and legs and can eat a horse. I got roasted chicken which I know must have had some sodium in the spices. My husband doesn't like the water park at all. He likes the music shows which my kids do not at all. So when it was really getting hot, him and I left and took in a couple of music shows. They were under a real nice top which made it really nice temperature. I was really hungry so we got a waffle cone. I got a spoon so I could control more of what I ate. He ate the actual cone. As we were leaving the park they announced that they were under a severe weather watch. So I'm glad we left when we did. I didn't go into the fudge shop with my daughter, my oldest DGD did but she will go anywhere with her cool aunt. So I went on ahead and turned in my scooter. By that time my oldest daughter's back was hurting her real bad and my husbnad was walking slow so they caught up with me. We decided to go on out to the car which was in a front handicap space. While we were sitting there waiting for the other 3 elephant size rain drops started landing on the car. Heavy metal trash cans were rolling around in the very full parking lot and the winds were terrible. So we got there just in time and our clothes stayed dry. But the ones in the fudge shop weren't so lucky. they were just as soaked when the got to the car you would have thought they just got out of the pool. Shouldn't have gotten the fudge!!! So all these thousands of people leaving the park were all on the same interstate as us and were all as hungry as us. We always stop at a Wendys:grumble: on the way home but it was so crowded so we just decided to go through the drive through and eat in the car. Well Wendys had had a power surge and all computers were out and they had to personally take the orders and ring them up with a calculator. They thought it was to much trouble to figure the tax so they didn't do that!!!! I was tired, very hungry and gave in and had a single cheese burger and small order of fries. UH OH! But they were so good.

Today we had the birthday party. They love to got o this one buffet and I have a big salad made with onions, carrots, lettuce and 1 egg. Then a spinach casserole and broccoli raisin salad. The salad has some mayonaise because of the creaminess and how sweet it is. Then came home and had a teeny piece of cake and ice cream. So really over yesterday and OK on calories but not so much the nutrition today.

The amusement park was pretty revealing about Charlie. He is slower. You can set the speed on a scooter from anywhere from a tortoise to the hare and I had to set it to the tortoise pretty much all day. Plus when we got out of the two rides he did ride, the log flume and the raging rapids, he had trouble getting of the ride. Couldn't get out of the vehicle. So it really frustrated his manliness. There isn't much at the park he enjoys anyway so it may be our last time we go. I know in the future I can go without him and still enjoy it with my youngest daughter and oldest daughter and family but it wouldn't be the same. But he is not an outdoor person. On all our vacation photos you can see him under a tree or anywhere there is shade. Put that with the fact he doesn't like the rides and the rest of the family don't like the shows it isn't a good mix. He says he goes too watch the fun the family has. But he is so far away from us he can't see them.

Trinity had a wonderful party. In the past it would be my Mom, sister and us and Mom was really missed. But she enjoyed our presents. The jeans my youngest daughter got were slims and not super skinny which is her size but that's the pair that she chose to wear with the jacket I got her.

They all went to church with me and enjoyed the service. They can tell the heart my pastor has and knows it's the right fit for me. They also found out that a couple that is one of their best friends was good friends of our pastor and our chairman of deacons went to the same college as them. . So they enjoyed my church which means a lot to me. They belong to one of these mega churches and mine has 100 members.

    Talkative tonight, sorry. Joyce, Indiana

Did an hour of the belly dance DVD. Tomorrow the plan is to do some yoga, hold my plank, and then take the extremepump class.

Sylvia - hubby may not remember your birthday, but a big happy birthday from NC. Kim's right, there are lots of gals here from Canada, I'm sure they will give you direction.

Kim - you can use butterscotch chips? Now that might be really interesting.

CynthiaT60 - yesterday I needed to stop in a craft store and do you know that they had Christmas trees up????

We're having a pool social at our house for the Newcomers this Saturday. Hope for nice weather. And if not, the pool social will be in the house!!!!

Went to church, then in a few we'll be leaving to meet that friend in Boone for lunch. Her hubby is playing softball Vince took pics of the pool to show her

Alison - my cousin's MIL was in a nursing home. The MIL was in her 90's, her other two sons had died, so when Joe (her third son) died, Patty never told her. For years whenever MIL asked about Joe, he "was home cutting the grass" or "he was just here, don't you remember (one of the workers looked A BIT like him). How do you tell a woman in her 90's that she's outlived all her children? So she was just never told and probably didn't find out until she met Joe in heaven.

Carol in NC - yea for that sign being up. About time -- that's all I can say. Now let's all hope and pray that it doesn't stay up very long

I'm afraid that I'm not going to get any exercise in Friday since I'll need to take Vince to the eye MD and his appt is at 7:30. Usually I do my exercise early in the a.m. Who knows, maybe I'll get up early and get something in? I have on the schedule to do one segment of Gilad's 45/45 split so at least I'll get some sort of workout in (even if it's only for 45 minutes)

Becky - we have a condo in FL in Titusville. Admitted, it's not as far south as you are. However, the weather men there must have the easiest job on the face of the earth. Every day is "sunny with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm". What I don't really like is that it's so humid!

katla - guess there's a little cynic in me. I never was this way, but Bryan REALLY hurt me. I'm convinced that he's calling more frequently because he wants that card. Once he gets it, it'll be back to a call every 6 months if I'm lucky. He told us that he has voice mail but he doesn't know how to use it. This -- from the guy who worked in the computer dept. at Elon, when Jess would have questions and call Vince (who worked in IT for 23 years) Vince would tell her to call her brother. This is the guy who doesn't know how to use the voice mail? I don't think so. I think he says he doesn't know how to use it so that we wouldn't leave a message. You were certainly close to post #500!

I'm making the cake for the social -- I'll put it in the freezer. I just realized that I don't think I sprayed the pan with non stick spray. I guess we shall see just how nonstick the pan is! Update: still not sure if I sprayed the pan or not, but the cake come out fine. Now I have to let it just sit

Joyce - to use that scooter looks like you're going to have to stretch your arms. What a problem! lol Sounds like you had a marvelous day at the water park! I prefer smaller churches, too. More intimate, you really get to know the other members. That's one of the reasons I switched from one church to another.

I'm going to post this to mark my spot.

    Good evening, all,

First, thanks to all who commiserated with me; I am feeling a slightly better today. The anniversary card is written and ready to be delivered.

DD cooked and made a four cheese ravoli in Alfredo sauce with parmesan, fresh and dried tomatoes and basil, from what I could taste, it was very good. Not much appetite yet, only ate a little, and guessed on cals which I am sure were high(always dangerous!!!).

Sylvia...........HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I sincerely hope today was better than yesterday!

Meg........It's nice to know someone else stomps when ill----I just get soooooo frustrated with illness when it's me, no patience with myself. I had a family friend do most of DD's driver training, her running coach, they were great friends and still are. Her driving attemps were too nerve wracking for me.

Heather and Katla...........Glad you both got home safely despite traffic and slow roads.

Kim......I also liked your thoughts on "deserve".

Has anyone else been following the African ebola outbreak? Nasty disease with a 60% morbidity rate. I've had an interest and been watching reports on outbreaks of this disease since the 80's. The current outbreak now is not looking good ( I believe the worst to date) and has potential to really spread............scary stuff.

G'nite all, another early night for me,
