More than 5 as well, but most are spices. Gluten Free for those who need it, or use regular soy sauce and flour for those who don't.

Teriyaki Chicken
4-5 boneless, skinless Chicken breasts
1 cup pineapple juice
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
Put chicken into slow cooker.
Mix all remaining ingredients together and pour over chicken.
Cook on low for 6 - 8 hours or high for 3 - 4 hours.
I like to add pineapple chunks during the last hour or so. If you'd like to thicken up your sauce mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with a little bit of soy sauce or pineapple juice until dissolved. Remove chicken from slow cooker, turn temp. to high, if it's not already, and stir mixture into sauce. Cover and let simmer about 10 minutes. Add chicken back to crock and mix to coat. Serve over brown rice.
Chicken and Rice (It's not exactly healthy though)
2-4 chicken breasts (fresh or frozen)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 block of cream cheese (cubed)
1 packet of Italian Dressing (Good Seasons brand)
1-2 cloves garlic (optional)
Cook on low for 4-6 hours (closer to 4, if fresh and 5 if frozen), or on high for about 3 hours (fresh). I add a bag of frozen corn during the last hour. Serve over brown rice or egg noodles. I've found it best to add the cream cheese and soup before everything else and let it soften a bit (to the point where you can stir it) before adding the rest of the ingredients, but it's not necessary. If it seems thicker than you'd like, you can add a couple tablespoons of sour cream in the last hour or so.
Sounds yummy!0 -

Most of my attempts cooking meat chunks in a slow cooker result in stringy dryness.
But toss in a sausage (like Hillshire Farms turkey kielbasa), a cabbage cut into 6-8 wedges, and some all purpose seasoning (I used the Kirklands salt-free stuff from Costco) and you have a super inexpensive and comforting dish after 8 hours on low. Be sure to open all of your windows when you get home -- cabbage does give off an unfortunate odor.0 -
Easiest thing I do in the crock pot is .. 3 chicken breasts. 1 Jar Hot Salsa.
Cook low +/-8 hours or high +/-6 hours
Shred the chicken, and mix with the cooking liquid.
This is great for tacos, nachos, burritos ..
I recommend HOT salsa, as most of the spice cooks out. Medium Salsa will leave this rather flavorless ...
this is really good, I do this but I add a packet of taco seasoning to kick up the spices0 -

I'm seeing that a lot of these recipes say to cook for 6-8 hours. Does anyone have any recipes that can cook for at least 10 hours? That's how long I'm gone during the work day. Would appreciate any suggestions!0
-
Does anyone have any simple chicken hindquarter recipes? Preferably something with perhaps the chicken, maybe some vegetables, but nothing too complicated or unusual.
Also, I'm not sure if I should be covering the chicken with water if I put them in the crock pot, or if I should just let them cook and the natural juices will create enough moisture. If I add vegetables, I assume that I want at least enough water to cover the vegetables.
I'm a novice when it comes to cooking, obviously. But if I can throw a few items in the crock pot, especially in the winter, then I've got it made, eh?
Thanks in advance for the advice.0 -

We do pork tacos, by throwing about four pounds of butt in the crockpot with chicken broth (good for kids teeth-homemade) with chili, ginger, garlic, horseradish, and tumeric. When you get home, you can pull it, then bake blue taco shells about 3 minutes, crack open some salsa verde, shred lettuce and cheese (we like raw jack) and you're golden.
There's always roast beef, potatoes, and carrots with mushrooms, again chili, garlic, horseradish, some thyme and bob's your uncle. :bigsmile:0 -
