George Saunders "Civilwarland in Bad Decline"--a collection of short stories. Awesome. I just finished 'Special Topics in Calamity Physics' by Marisha Pessl, which was also great, but took about 50 pages to get really into.

Lastly I've just started 'The hundred year old man who climbed out the window and Disappeared' by Jonas Jonasson, which my goodreads suggested I would enjoy after reading (and LOVING) 'The Girl That Saved The King Of Sweden' by the same author. They're both entertaining, charming, smart, adventurous, and fun to read.

I really enjoyed The Hundred Year Old Man! Had me laughing out loud at points

I'm currently reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, which is excellent so far. It is quite slow going, it takes a while for anything to happen, and is painstaking about every detail even when it's unnecessary - but for all that, I'm really enjoying it.

I just finished reading the first Game of Thrones book, which was outstanding. I'm a fantasy fan though

Just finished Ken Follett's "Winter of the World", the second in his latest trilogy. The first is "Fall of Giants", and the third, "The Edge of Eternity" was just published. Long, but very engaging.

I just read Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies back to back. They were amazing. I am not a fan of historical fiction but this was something else. Brilliantly written, engaging and fascinating (author Hilary Mantell)

I'm currently reading "Written in my own heart's blood" by Diana Gabaldon

It's book 8 in the Outlander series, love the series and wish I had starz network so I could see how well they made the miniseries movies.

I just finished Return of the King, and now I'm about to start Watership Down. I'm having a nostalgic, books-I-love year :)

Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Watership Down are 2 of my all time favorites! Love love love them. Right now I am reading two books. The Golem of Hollywood by jonathon and Jesse Kellerman and How We Learn: The Surprising Truth About When Where and Why it Happens by Benedict Carey. I try to read non-fiction but it's hard for me to do that.

Robin Hobbs' "The Rain Wilds" series.... very good. Also, for about the fifth time, "The Name Of The Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss, one of the best books of all time and one of the very, very few that actually deserves to stand with "The Lord Of The Rings".

I just finished reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and it quickly became my new favourite book. I've never read anything quite like it before. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes geeky things and/or 80's pop culture. Aldous Huxley's Brave New World is next!
  • About to start Democracy in America by Alexis de Tocqueville. Can't believe I've never read this before.

Night by Elie Wiesle who still lives btw is a survivor of the concentration camps and the book is literally thinner than an inch-a breeze and you won't want to quit-it grips and locks you in from the first page! The book is a tear jerker-must not read... without tissues.
I wanted to go to new york and meet this man before he dies-i don't think i will make it but its a small world..after all! Read it in sociology class at college and really powerful book…my heart ached a month after and the scenery will forever linger for the rest of my life.

I absolutely loved "The Name of the Wind" and "A Wise Man's Fear" I can't wait for the last book to get published. Have you read A Song of Ice and Fire books yet? My friend recommended The Name of the Wind based upon my interest in the books Game of Thrones is based on. I definitely recommend them as well if you haven't read them yet.

I'm going on a cruise in a couple weeks, 4 days at sea so this forum post is a gold mine for my nook haha!

Recently I've finished the last book of the Sookie Stackhouse series, the last book in The Mortal Instruments series, I need to read the next book in the Blackdagger Brotherhood series, I believe it's called "The King" I'm also planning to read Mazerunner before I see the movie.

My taste in books is all over the place but it's mostly in the fantasy/sci-fi area

    I'm currently reading:

"The Men's Health Big Book of 15 Minute Workouts" by Selene Yeager. It's not really a reader as much as it is a reference, but I've really enjoyed crafting workouts out of the exercises it describes inside

"The Universe in a Single Atom" by the Dalai Lama. I like his take on science and spirituality.

Both were pretty cheap in the Google Play store.

If you enjoy historical fiction, I can highly recommend the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. There are 8 books in the series and they are about 1,000 pages a piece. I have savored every moment of each one. Historical fiction is my favorite genre. But these also have a wee bit of sci-fi thrown in with a romance storyline, of course!
It is also now a series on Starz. They are on the 2nd episode and will cover the first book by the end of Spring '15.
I loved these so much that I read them back to back and usually with a series I take a break. The companion books about Lord John are just as good.

Just started reading Ash by James Herbert. Spooky thriller which is a bit out of the norm for me. Still, really loving Herbert's writing style.
