I'm new to this but need to lose over 100lbs. How often do you recommend I weigh myself? I'm thinking maybe twice a week as it's not enough to obsess over my weight but often enough to keep me focused. What would you recommend?0
-
@1980ajenkins I weigh myself daily but many others weight weekly. Just do whichever seems to work best for you. Twice a week and your thinking about not obsessing may be exactly what you need. I personally can't go a whole week, I need the feedback, whichever way it goes, negative or positive! BTW Welcome!
@mnwalkingqueen sounds like tough love and like he realized he had some 'splaining and apologizing to do!
@Barb - can't remember you log in name, but do remember that we share the same first name! Congrats on your 10k, that's very inspiring to me. I used to be very active, but depression and just not caring added a ton of weight and I became a couch potato too. Not necessarily watching TV, but reading, computer, etc. I am now walking again, did 2.5 miles in about 55 minutes this morning, so if I could stretch it to two hours I would be getting closer, but would still have to speed up a lot to match you. Well done and wish me luck, maybe by this time next year I'll be there.
@Everyone else - I read your posts daily, they are uplifting, funny, inspiring, and heartfelt posts. I think it helps us all to know others are in the same weight loss boat, or in similar family circumstances, or struggling with the same issues.
@Niki I'm glad you explained a little more about the "whining" as I don't think anyone on here really does that. I think people are just stating things that they see as holding them back on their weight loss journey and I was glad to see that you didn't mean our thread!
AFM I had been struggling all month with meeting my goals. I guess I've found my maintenance # of calories. I would laugh, but it's not funny. I haven't gained but I end up just about each day going over my calories or just meeting them by using my exercise calories. I need to get my head back in the game, decided that posting and putting it down where everyone could see it, might help. I do log almost everyday so I see what I'm doing but I just keep doing it over again.
I feel for all of you in the cold and snow. I live in SW Florida where a cold day for us is in the 60's and the 40's on a cold night, so I can't complain. I thought about posting a picture where we ate, on the deck, overlooking the water, but I wasn't sure if it would make you folks stuck in the cold feel better or if you would want to throw something at me. LOL Anyway be warned, posting it now if I can do it. I've never posted a picture on MFP before.

We were eating lunch overlooking the marina. (None of the boats are mine, unfortunately!) Beautiful day, temp in the mid 70's! Wish you were all here to enjoy...

One more quick post..
@grandmakaye44 just realized I mixed up your name! Sorry about that I know you're not Barb, I just had a senior moment! Congrats on your 10K and you do inspire me, even if I got your name wrong!

Gottcha Barb ... I'll bet almost everyone who read the post had their kitty-backs raised way up in the air. I'm so grateful that @skinny posted pictures and good advise, and that @mountmary said something that got me to z'plain myself better.1980ajenkins wrote: »I'm new to this but need to lose over 100lbs. Welcome @1980ajenkins ... it's great to have a new man on board ... there are a lot of us woman here on MFP in general. We will support you as much as we can, just ask questions and you'll get a lot of advise. .... Welcome to the thread. @for-weigh-ins ... it's pretty much what you feel comfortable with.
If you decide to do it every day ... then make it the first thing in the morning before you eat and at about the same time every day, if you can. That's cause we weigh more as the day goes on, and it's surprizing how much our clothes actually weigh. It's a good move if you are unsure about how things like sodium affect your weight ... a high sodium day could sock 4 pounds on you, also a high carb day after being low on carbs for a few days.
Do weigh in at least one-time a week, preferably on a day that follows a rest day with normal sodium intake. AFM (As For Me) ... I make Sunday my rest day as Monday is my check-in day.

@niki--I totally knew you weren't talking about our thread, but I'm glad you liked the pictures.
@barb--I'm jealous of your temps, but I don't want to throw anything at you. Your lunch view was lovely. Thanks for sharing it. I'm kind of in the same boat as you--except I'm conveniently forgetting to log bites here and there. I'm trying to be more mindful this week.
@jenkins--I try to weigh every morning b/c research shows that people who maintain a healthy weight are more likely to be daily weighers. The research shows that knowing your weight helps you manage it better--i.e. you are more likely to nip a gain in the bud. Of course, you have to be okay with the daily changes. I used to be scale obsessed--any little fluctuation would stress me out. Forcing myself to weigh every day actually cured me of that. I see the ups and downs, and I know it's all normal. Then I only check in my weight here on MFP if it drops below my previous lowest weight. Some people like to check in with every new scale reading though, so they can see patterns in losses and gains.
@holly--sounds like you put your foot down with your son. It's hard to tell someone you love that you won't be treated badly, but it's also important for your own self-esteem. Hope your talk with him goes well.
@tom--thanks for all of the info about the holiday. Here in IL, we used to get both Lincoln's and Washington's b-days off from school when I was a kid. Now school districts can choose to honor both or just Presidents' Day, and it often depends upon where Lincoln's b-day falls in relation. In my school district, we have always just closed for Presidents' Day.
@kelley--I'm glad you were able to communicate some more with your trainer and that he apologized. Hope things work out going forward.
Monday Check-in:
I took my car to the dealer for my oil change. It took longer than expected, but I got a lot of grading done in the waiting room. Afterwards, I came home with every intention of heading to the gym. First, I took gunner for a short walk despite the still frigid temps. He's been so cooped up in the house--his yard is still snow-ridden so it's not like he can really run around much. After the walk, I decided to go grade some more instead of the gym. I just wasn't "feeling it" today, so I've rescheduled today's run for Wed.
Today was a good day as far as nutrition, though protein could've been better. However, I was well within my calorie allowance and made sure to log everything.

Karen-I am getting hit with the latest snowstorm and we are expected to have 6-8 inches of snow. Schools have already been cancelled for tomorrow. The flakes are very fine but it is expected to pick up after 10pm. I just hope that the NE misses this storm, the folks in New England don't need anymore of the white stuff. I just hope that we only lose one day to this storm but with the amounts predicted it will be iffy. The good thing is it is suppose to stop in the morning, however the frigid temps are a concern.
@Jenkins- welcome, as for weighing in it truly depends on what you are comfortable with. I weigh everyday and it allowed me to identify patterns in my weight.
Kaye- Great time on your 10K, congrats on beating your goal time.
Monday- check in
Today, was a productive day in that I took the car into the shop and nothing is wrong with it. Now, the oil has been changed so that job is done. Then made it to the grocery store and the gym. The trainer workout kicked my butt tonight since I was not 100%. I did make it through with a few modifications. It felt good to get back to the gym today. I hope to kick this sinus thing in the next day or two so I feel more like myself. Tomorrow's workout will involve shoveling snow, so strength training will be covered.
Have a great week and stay warm.

OK, so I'm going to stop apologizing for being behind on this thread all the time, and not doing personals. I do eventually catch up reading, but I'm trying to concentrate on other stuff right now.
@Erin yours was my first unread post in this last section and I'm with you 100%. I'm getting over a relationship that ended in September and I dreaded waking up on Valentines day. I made sure I had some plans with friends to keep me company and distract me at the same time. My daughter did send me a nice text that morning and it made me feel better. I've never really liked Valentines day anyway, just another day of commercialism and waste.
I've been on modified duties the past week at work, only doing my inside job, which is convenient right now because the weather has been so cold the past few days. Tomorrow I go back to the doctor to see about going back to outside duties as well. Today I have to appear for jury selection. I forgot all about how my back gets sore after sitting awhile, so I may be quite uncomfortable today... and bored.
I've been going to physio for my whiplash since September, and my insurance company has just approved another 12 week treatment plan. I am so tired of physio... some days I think I'll be going for the rest of my life, and I've barely hit my 40's.

@Tanya - No worries about personals. We all go through periods of super busy, busy and less busy! Seriously, it is enough that you are still able to take time to log in and read. That by itself can be pretty time consuming. Good luck at the doctor!
@Laurie and Skinny - I need to get my oil changed, too! Lucky for me, my husband will take it in or do it himself. If he does it himself, he takes it down to his dad's garage where they have a lift and everything. Since it's cold and a longish drive to go there, he usually just takes it to a local lube in winter.
@bapcarrier - I am somewhere snow covered and cold. I don't want to throw anything at you, but I would like to join you for lunch today!
@1980ajenkins - Welcome! Everyone has different weigh in schedules around here. Some weigh weekly, some weigh monthly, some weigh daily. Whatever you will do regularly and that helps you to keep track and succeed is fine. You might find that you start with one weigh-in schedule and then have to switch to something else. A lot of this journey is trial and error. I weigh myself almost daily because I need the feedback to keep me on track, but I only record my Monday weigh in. I always weigh when I get up in the morning, after I use the toilet and with no clothes, so there's as little variation as possible.
AFM- Back to reality today. Kids and I are getting ready for school and work this morning. And, as an added dose of the real world, I received a sick call from an employee this morning! So, I'm already working as I am responsible for rearranging shifts and people to cover sick calls.
I was able to get through 90% of my to do list over my long weekend. My goal this week is to keep this house as clean as it is right now!
February:
Calorie Goal- 6/16
Exercise Goal- 5/12
Lift Goal:
Leg Press-180/200
Squats-180/200
Abs- 150/165

Triceps- 80/90
Biceps- 80/90

@1980ajenkins~everyone is different, but I weigh 2-3 days a week. It helps to keep me on track.
@Laurie~I hope the snow stops soon—the people in New England must be going crazy with all of that snow. I saw on the news this morning, Boston is offering to pay people $30/hour to help shovel out the public transportation areas—the city can’t keep up with it. I’m glad we didn't get the snow/ice they had forecasted last week—it’s just cold her right now, should be back in the 60s by weekend.
@texasmom2013~Thanks for the advice; however, my trainer and I don’t really have the conventional client/trainer relationship. He used to be a trainer at my gym but now has his own studio—most of his clients left my gym to train with him there. The client leaving said he isn't renewing because he is retiring soon, it doesn't have any reflection on the capabilities of my trainer. My trainer has an extensive background, including physical therapy; I went through 3-4 trainers before finding him—he’s been my trainer now for over two years, I trust him (not an easy feat). I know him well, am friends with his wife and know his kids well. Sometimes people lash out to the people they are closest too, it’s inexcusable but it happened. He knows my position on the matter and knows that he’s on thin ice, it happens again and I’m done. I've helped him with a lot of financial decisions regarding his studio, he just doesn't always listen—the place he is in has a really high rent, he should have never signed that lease. It’s a harsh reality that I think he’s learned—so now is looking at other, more reasonable, spaces.
AFM~Did go by the gym as planned yesterday, I've been walking outside so much lately it felt weird being there. LOL I just did the treadmill and walked 3 miles (really hard to go from walking in the park to walking on the treadmill—I prefer the park ). I was going to go today to lift weights but forgot I have appt with ophthalmologist this afternoon—I’m sans contacts today, which I hate! I think I forgot to mention I finally got my car back on Friday! She looks great; it feels good to be driving my own car again.

Sunday~Rest Day DONE!
Monday~Cardio at Gym DONE!
Tuesday~Rest Day (ophthalmologist appt)
Wednesday~Cardio at Gym
Thursday~Trainer(?) or Strength/Weights at gym

Sitting at my desk looking at all the ice on the trees and patio. We didn't get any pretty snow, just sleet and freezing rain. It's days like this I'm glad I work from home, but having DH working here as well..... not so good. Hopefully the ice will melt quickly and he can return to his office where he belongs from 8-5!
Not much to report. Things are up and down diet wise. I'm still struggling to get back into the groove I was one in. Just gonna keep at it!

@melifornia - What is a Miracle Morning routine? I am intrigued!
@mnwalkingqueen - Way to go, momma! I am glad that you put your foot down!
@hansea47 - I truly love your motto for 2015. Very inspiring! I too am excited for Lent. Such a great time for reflection.
@1980ajenkins - Welcome to the group! I also have over 100lbs to lose. I've been weighing myself weekly. Some people weigh themselves daily to get used to their body's natural weight fluctuations.
@bapcarrier - Thank you for the beautiful picture! I can't wait for the snow to melt. It has been below zero here for the past few days.
@skinnyjeansbyfifty - My dogs are experiencing cabin fever as well. Great job staying within your calorie range!!
@Tanya949 - (((HUGS)))) It is hard when our bodies don't cooperate. I hope yours starts to heal completely, soon!
@kah68 - I'm glad you got your car back! I bet that feels good! I too prefer being outside to being in the gym. The fresh air does a body good! It's good that you have the option to go to the gym though. I love my gym membership in the winter. It's like my saving grace for cabin fever.
AFM - I had my 2nd to last PT appointment today. My PT put me on an Aerodyn to work out my arms and then one of those Total Gyms (more arm workouts). I have zero pain in my neck now. I think the nerve that was pinched (in my neck) is finally healing? Though I do still have numbness in my thumb and that portion of my arm. I guess it takes time to heal. I'll take a little numbness over shooting and burning pain any day.
Sunday was not a good day for eating. I made a big breakfast for everyone on Sunday morning. Of course, mindlessly, I filled my plate and then added up the calories. I pretty much killed off about 80% of my daily caloric intake with only one plate. I added everything up after breakfast and just felt bad about it. I ate very small for the rest of the day. I've got to remember to be mindful always.

Tuesday Goal: lose 2-3kg or 5-7lbs... Swoosh...0
-
Finally joining in. I am trying to lose 80-100lb.
Today is Tuesday. My goal right now is to work my way through the True Beginner program on Daily Burn.
With winter here it's been hard to get my water in. Working on that too.0 -
@kah- Sounds like you and the trainer patched things up and I agree there will probably be some tension or awkwardness for a little while. Good luck with that. I prefer walking outside also verse the treadmill.
@cblue- Congrats on going to the gym and hope the counselor session went well
@ New People- Welcome!
@bapcarrier- You made me jealous of the lunch picture
@laurieK- I am amazed you got so much done with more snow coming woohooo!
AFM- I am still walking every day at lunch. I am working on bringing a lunch everyday still but falling short on that goal some days. I have decided to hide my scale otherwise I step on it every morning which is really discouraging me. NSV last night instead of walking to the corner store to get a pop when I ran out of flavored water….I battled with my mind and made more flavored water and sat it outside to make it colder. I have left my fitbit at home the last 2 days and I am not liking not knowing how many calories I have burned.

Good morning everyone.
Happy Mardi Gras Day!
Popular practices on Mardi Gras include wearing masks and costumes, overturning social conventions, dancing, sports competitions, parades, debauchery, etc. Similar expressions to Mardi Gras appear in other European languages sharing the Christian tradition, as it is associated with the religious requirement for confession before Lent begins. In many areas, the term "Mardi Gras" has come to mean the whole period of activity related to the celebratory events, beyond just the single day. In some American cities, it is now called "Mardi Gras Day".It also has become a single people's counter to the coupled-centric Valentine's Day. While not observed nationally throughout the United States, a number of traditionally ethnic French cities and regions in the country have notable celebrations. Mardi Gras arrived in North America as a French Catholic tradition with the Le Moyne brothers,] Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville and Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville, in the late 17th century, when King Louis XIV sent the pair to defend France's claim on the territory of Louisiane, which included what are now the U.S. states of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
The expedition, led by Iberville, entered the mouth of the Mississippi River on the evening of March 2, 1699, Lundi Gras. They did not yet know it was the river explored and claimed for France by René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle in 1683. The party proceeded upstream to a place on the east bank about 60 miles downriver from where New Orleans is today, and made camp. This was on March 3, 1699, Mardi Gras, so in honor of this holiday, Iberville named the spot Point du Mardi Gras (French: "Mardi Gras Point") and called the nearby tributary Bayou Mardi Gras. Bienville went on to found the settlement of Mobile, Alabama in 1702 as the first capital of French Louisiana. In 1703 French settlers in Mobile established the first organized Mardi Gras celebration tradition in what was to become the United States. The first informal mystic society, or krewe, was formed in Mobile in 1711, the Boeuf Gras Society. By 1720, Biloxi had been made capital of Louisiana. The French Mardi Gras customs had accompanied the colonists who settled there.
In 1723, the capital of Louisiana was moved to New Orleans, founded in 1718. The first Mardi Gras parade held in New Orleans is recorded to have taken place in 1837. The tradition in New Orleans expanded to the point that it became synonymous with the city in popular perception, and embraced by residents of New Orleans beyond those of French or Catholic heritage. Mardi Gras celebrations are part of the basis of the slogan, Laissez les bons temps rouler, (Let the good times roll). Other cities along the Gulf Coast with early French colonial heritage, from Pensacola, Florida; Galveston, Texas; to Lafayette, Louisiana; and north to Natchez, Mississippi, have active Mardi Gras celebrations in balls. In the rural Acadiana area, many Cajuns celebrate with the Courir de Mardi Gras, a tradition that dates to medieval celebrations in France. The American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival created a project in 1972 called Mardi Gras

@Kelley…glad you’re on the mend with your trainer. You are more than a client of his and I’m sure a bit of a safe haven for him. Hopefully it’s a one time, stress situation and you can get back to “normal soon” I know how hard it was to find him in the first place.
@txmom (or I think it was you)…sorry you are having a hard time with the sale of your grandparent’s home. Have you offered to buy it from the relatives selling it? I ask because I come from the background of being the one that sold a family farm a few years back. It was not an easy decision, but one our family felt was right. My aunts, uncles and cousins wanted us to keep it so they could come visit once a year. None of us wanted to farm/life there and the upkeep is a LOT when you don’t live there – regardless of if you rent it our or it sits empty. I only remember living at the farm – we had one house and my grandparents lived in the other one and have wonderful memories, but try to remember it was the people there that made you feel safe…not the walls.
@bapcarrier…just trying to make the rest of us jealous???? I’m in the teens today and looking at snow and leafless trees. I wish I was looking at your view. One year ago today I was on a cruise in the Bahamas and really wish I was repeating it. HA!
@Niki...we all have those days with our “friends” on FB. I actually went and hid two of them because while they are still friends or family, we have very opposite views on quite a few things. And the only thing they post about are those things, which make me want to write an opposition, make me grumpy and a little angry. I decided my day goes better when I don’t have the opportunity to even see them. I go on about once a week to see if they posted any pictures of kids, funny things etc, but at least they aren’t on my wall each day.
@holly…maybe this is a good lesson for your son. His access to your car is a privilege not a right and he should act accordingly.
@Laurie...we don’t have any bad weather, but our kids have today off as well. I can tell my husband is home because they all are pretty quiet and not bugging me as I have to work. It was nice to have yesterday off. Our next holiday here at work is Memorial Day so I appreciate this extra long weekend.
@Erin…my husband made a big deal about Valentine’s Day when he was “whoo-ing” me 21 years ago, but apparently after getting married, he decided that it was a big scam by the flower/card industry. He did take me out to a lovely lunch a week ago and informed me it was my Valentine’s Day meal. He does make me feel loved other times of the year so I can’t complain too much. However, I grew up in a house that my Dad always made it a big deal for my Mom so I had to learn that not every relationship is like that. If it was up to me we’d do something every year, but…
Ok this has been sitting on my computer for 3 hours…I’m going to post it already!! I’ll get those of the past three hours next round.
AFM…I had 4 valentine cakes to make for my business and got those all done on Friday. I then spent the weekend taking my daughter around for Girl Scout cookie sales. Whoever made the decision that cookies should be sold in February and March does not live in the top half of this country. OY! Emma believes she can sell 800 and earn an American Girl doll…so far we are up to 49. I'm happy she set a goal for the moon, but we’re working on “realistic” goals too. HA. Gym tonight for some cardio and some lifting (arms).

Hello all.
@Niki - please don't think I was accusing you of being a whiner. And I know you were not whining at us here. I picked up on the whine in your post and ran with it as that is where I was at that day.
@holly - way to go with the son, I wish I had more of that resolve.
@Irishchik and BetterEmmahla - Welcome and come back often.
AFM - I am with the rest of you here in the cold and snow. Make it stop!
The counseling session went great yesterday. I have some tentative plans in place for the next couple of months. Not saying that it can't or won't change.
Went shopping last night and bought new jeans . . . down another size! Haven't lost a lot of weight the last two months but I have been doing quite a bit of weight lifting.
Gym with the trainer went very well this morning, weight lifting and have some new PB's. I caught a look at myself in the mirror this morning and I am astounded at the changes from a year ago. One of my assignments this week is to write out what has changed over the last 5 years and what direction I want to go in for the rest of this year.
Love to all,
Lori

Jumping in on page 673 (no I haven't read all the other posts on this thread, just the first couple pages). Short intro... I'm Rilla, I started out with 125 lbs to lose, down 7 lbs so far in my first 3.5 weeks. I'm 38 yo, 5'4", happily married, we have a pre-teen son. Both the hubs and our son are very slim and fit so I want to "fit in" and participate more in my family's active lifestyle. (I also posted a longer personal thread in this forum that shares more of my story/goals/progress if you're interested.)
Tuesday - Goals: Get more water in. I've been slack lately, lots of decaf fluids, but haven't been getting in much plain water. Each week I also set myself a daily exercise goal. The next week I add a minute. I'm up to 8 min/day exercise this week. Working on staying below my calorie goal. So far so good! I've found my stride and I'm on a roll...

Welcome @Newbies to this thread. My name is Niki and I have been a member of 'Need to lose 100LBS - Robins Thread" since October 1. I've found it has helped me a lot with staying on course, even when the going is very slow. In the past, I'd just give up only to start all over again sometime in the future. This time I feel the support I get is helping me to stay with it.
Rilla, I found your thead and read through it. Sounds like you've set up a good support network of your own, but do stop by here when you want/can and let us know how you are doing. Your thread has prompted me to do some researh into this PCOS .... I do believe this is a relatively recent classification that has come in after I reached menopause ... however I recognized myself in the description of the condition. Learned something new.
AFM ... since it's Tuesday - Goals (do you have a personal goal you want to share with us?) ... I don't have any today ... just wanted to welcome the three new names I've spotted since the last time I was on here.
February challenge: Calories at goal 16/16 (goal is 24/28)

Thanks for the encouraging words with my son. I realized when I am at my wits end with him I put my foot down and get mean. I need to learn how to address things sooner. It is different when I was 18 I lived on my own renting a room in house in Shakopee MN (not city life) rode 2 buses to get to work and if I missed one the only way to get there was by cab. I understand I didn't have to answer to anyone or ask permission because I was on my own. But he is not financial or emotionally stable to be alone in the world right now, so we have to learn as adults how to get along in the same house sharing the same things. It is hard.0

@bapcarrier Barb. could we all just join you for lunch? That is a gorgeous marina view.
@Mnwalkingqueen sometimes these kids just want us to say "no". Once when my son wanted to do something and I was sort of waffling his comment was "it's okay to say no Mom" He just didn't want to be the one to tell his friend, but if it was mom....well
@Kah Glad you finally got the car back. I hope the situation with your trainer smooths out quickly for you, just like the car.
@Cblue You sound like you are getting a handle on things Lori. Good.
@tlh0407 I love the 800 box cookie goal. It made me chuckle. Kids are the greatest. Reminds me of Amanda's son going to "finish this baby" We should all be as optimistic as these little ones.
AFM: I keep plugging along. I am trying to be more active, but often it is not quantifiable, just mere movement, but hey that counts too. I even shoveled a bit of snow today. Just got home from a grocery run so the supplies are in house again for healthy meals; I even made tonight's salad at the salad bar at the grocery. I used to do that, but then sort of stopped, so I know there is another salad in my future....as well as 10# of mushrooms. DH took a mid day break and we drove to the mushroom farm. Seems Niki got me craving them.
OOPS, I wrote this on the fly so don't have may Feb goal stuff. I catch that next time.
Make it a good one everyone.
Thanks for being here.

Welcome to the new people. Hope you come back often and post when you can.
Kelley- Glad you missed the ice/snow.
Queen- I hope you and your son can figure out a solution to living under the same roof.
Well, we had about 5 inches of snow so I spent the day shoveling and digging out the cars. Then proceeded to bake cookies and a pudding pie. Overall, it was a productive day. Due to the refreeze tonight, we have a 2 hr delay. Found out that pipes burst in the school over the long weekend, so I hope my classroom is free of water damage. Some classes have a lot of damage due to water. Tomorrow, we could get another quick clipper system that might drop some more snow. Of course it will come through during rush hour 5-8 pm. Not looking forward to driving home in it.
Goal to figure what I am doing for LENT. Instead of giving something up, I tend to create a new hobby or do something that is beneficial for me.
Time to get back to NCIS, yes I am addicted to that show.
Have a great HUMP Day and rest of the week.

Rilla, I found your thead and read through it. Sounds like you've set up a good support network of your own, but do stop by here when you want/can and let us know how you are doing. Your thread has prompted me to do some research into this PCOS .... I do believe this is a relatively recent classification that has come in after I reached menopause ... however I recognized myself in the description of the condition. Learned something new.
@NK1112 Thanks for the welcome. I can use all the support I can find. My thread isn't very active yet, hoping it picks up eventually, mostly it's me talking to myself. LOL
Let us know what comes of the PCOS research... When I was first diagnosed, there wasn't very much help, but now they know there's insulin resistance associated with it. Some people have had great results with taking metformin for it. There's also quite a few PCOS groups if you are looking for more specific answers...

Wednesday Wish: That I grow spiritually and shrink physically over the next 40 days!
@melifornia - Good luck with abstaining from fast food!
@Rodax74 - Welcome!
@kah68 - Glad you and your car are reunited! I'd rather walk outside, too. I don't want to walk outside here right now though, since it's still really cold. In a month or two, I'll be back on the streets.
@Lives2Travel - I smiled at your comment about your husband being home because of the weather. I got that feeling when my husband was recently changed to day shift after working overnight shifts for the last 7 years. Now we're both home at night, and I was so used to having the house quiet and to myself after 8 pm. At first I was like, 'you don't belong here at night'. I'm sloooowly getting used to it, though.
@kelmomto3 - Nerves do take a long time to heal, but it sounds like yours is starting to mend. Good luck with your Lenten journey, too.
@BetterEmmahia - I'd like a couple dozen "swooshes" myself!
@IrishChik - Welcome! Good goals. I'm always trying to stay on top of my water, too.
@mnwalkingqueen - Good job walking at lunch and making more flavored water! Every good decision adds up!
@Morgori - Interesting history of Mardi Gras. I also love the Helen Keller quote!
@tlh0407 - My daughter has a small American Girl doll obsession, which we finally indulged this Christmas. We got her Kit. It was way more than I wanted to pay for a doll, but she is taking great care of her and really appreciates the gift. Also, I think budgeting for Kit was probably easier than selling 800 boxes of cookies in this winter weather! LOL Good luck to you guys!
@cblue315 - Congratulations on the new smaller size jeans! You needed one of these victories right now.
@RillaVanilla - Welcome! I love your mantra!
@mountmary84 - 10 lbs of mushrooms?!?! Whoa! How do you eat/store that many mushrooms? I'm the only one who likes mushrooms at my house, and I always struggle to get the 1 lb package eaten before they get weird and yucky. I either cook them into a soup or other meal and risk my family not eating any of it, or putting them on my salads daily.
@Lauriek70 - I try to fast, pray and give for Lent every year. So, we'll purge our closets and donate to the Salvation Army, I fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, skip meat on all the Fridays, and I'm getting up a little earlier to pray with a Lent reflection booklet each morning and I'm going to find a few minutes before bed each night to journal. Hope you find something fruitful for your Lent!
@KizKiz607 - Welcome!
AFM- Not much new to report, just getting started on Lent and hoping it's a good one. Last night, my 6 year old declared (as he devoured his paczki) that he would be giving up eating stuff with frosting. This morning, after listening to he and his sister fighting over who got which gummy vitamin shape, I gently suggested that they may want to consider working on being more generous and kind to each other! My suggestion was not met with the 'can-do' attitude I was hoping for.
February:
Calorie Goal- 7/17
Exercise Goal- 5/12
Lift Goal:
Leg Press-180/200
Squats-180/200
Abs- 150/165
Back- 150/165
Triceps- 80/90
Biceps- 80/90
2015 Mantra: You Know Better! ~and~ Finish This Baby!

Wednesday Wish: that I had more self control when it comes to sticking to my healthy choices.
The hardest part of being this weight and having the medical issues that go with it (diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sleep apnea) is that I can honestly say this is self inflicted.
Not intentionally, of course, but by not living intentionally. Paul says I do the things I ought not do and I don't do the things I ought to do.
My desire is to go forward living intentionally. And yet my concern is that I struggle to exercise the self control needed to
My achiements:
Weight: 15/100 lbs
Steps(5000pd): 3/7
Calories: 4/7
My motto: Live Love!

@mountmary- You are so correct….My son has made that comment within the last month also. He says “If you don’t want me to use the car just say so, it is okay.” My issue is I am so busy with homework that I never go anywhere during the week, so it really doesn’t bother me that he takes the car it just bothers me he doesn’t put gas in it or stays out all night without letting me know. Plus if I need my car he is real good at making sure I have when needed. I love mushrooms but not sure how creative I could be to eat 10# of them good for you.
@Lauriek- I hope the school isn’t damaged to bad and I hope that rapid clean up can be done along with class things being saved. Thanks we had a talk last night and he feels it is waste of time to tell me how he feels or what maybe bothering him. He said it is because I can’t comprehend past how I think it should be or how I have seen things happen in my life which bothers him alot. I told him I love him very much and never want him to hold back talking to me because I am here to guide him and make his life better than what I had or have given him. He says people he hangs out with take advantage of his niceness but he isn’t going to change being nice, so his frustrations are taken out on me. I tried to give some advice but it appeared to not be well received by his body language and demeanor. I know how he feels because I also feel people take my kindness for a weakness and have had to make some hard choices in friends because of how they treat me.
@hansea- Your comment about the situation with your son and what he should give up made me chuckle. I was never raised in a religion where you gave up something. I think that would be very hard for me and as a kid I would have picked the easiest thing in the world to give up for that time frame.
@Colleen- We all struggle with something but I think the biggest step is admitting to your struggle and finding ways to change it. Baby steps and yes we will all have set backs but in the end we will succeed.
Looks like the east is getting hit with more snow again this week and weekend please be safe everyone.
AFM- Wed wish is that I will be motivated to find ways to put this research of rebuilding self-esteem and confidence to work. I know baby steps right
