I guess I have a different fear than you do.
I am more about vehicles attacking me than psychiotic humans. I wear a head lamp and a blinky red thing on the back of my head.
I do have a blinking red light on my back, and I have knuckle lights, and an orange vest with reflective tape on it.
The most dangerous car/truck I see is the guy delivering papers. The speed limit is 25 and he is NOT looking ahead and going at least 40. Most days he's done by the time I start running, so I only see him on the days he's running late --probably why he is going so fast. IDK how he flings out the papers of either window going that speed. I run on the opposite side of the street, but that's no deterrant for him because he's flying from side to side. The sidewalk is just not good for running for me, with the ups and downs and potential for me to hurt my self. But when I see/hear him I jump on the sidewalk. Hardly anyone actually gets a paper delivered anymore so he has big gaps where he floors it.

I would report him to the newspaper company that he works for. If that doesn't work, then I would complain to the city's traffic director or the local councilman.

@autumnblade75 I see your running miles are getting longer and longer, great work!

It's not going to be enough to PR my race at the end of the month - I think running got harder while I was babying that ankle. It's still not 100%, either. I'm probably prolonging the healing. Urg.

    Thanks, though - I'm trying.

Date Miles today. Miles for March

    3/16 10.15 miles - 119.55

@stoshew71 - Stan too funny that you put .15 miles on your miles this morning. While I was running today I was thinking about how your numbers are always exact and I was thinking I wonder if he just chops off the back number. Then I was thinking if you run 8.7 do you say 9 or 8. Thanks for keeping me entertained this morning while I was running LOL

Nope! LOL I put down what my garmin says, unless it say's .01, then I do chop it off. LOL

When I get close to a round number, I usually stop the watch and if need to walk the rest of the way, or in cases where I am just under I will keep running around in little circles until I reach a nice round number. Call it OCD! LOL

I play around on googlemaps to figure out what makes a nice even run for me- Because this whole 8.46- 2.1- 5.22- annoying and inappropriate. But I tuck my phone into my bra- so it's not like i can just flip it out and run and keep checking.

RunningAhead has a great map tool for just that.

    https://www.runningahead.com/maps

nice thank you- I'll take a gander when I can sit down at home! :D

Just a warning to all to be careful out there. Drivers don't give a crap about us.

This is very true! When I lived in the City it was a constant battle between pedestrians, bikes, and cars with everyone thinking they deserved the right of way. Everyone needs to slow down a bit and be respectful of each other.

4.6 miles to add today, can't remember what my total is so will have to go back and look at my last entry.

I don't mind ending up with something 4.2km, so I don' walk the rest of the way when I
get to the full km shortly before home. The other way around I do the same as you - when I'm just 200m below a nice round number and I have a bit of time left, I just run around the parking lot near my building until the next kilometre is complete.
... and then I sync my watch with strava, and it decides to "smooth" the wrinkles out of my route or something like that, so for example my nice 11.0km yesterday became 10.9km :\
Which is one more why I also upload the data to runningahead, which leaves my pretty round numbers untouched ;)

    01.03.15 - 13.0 km
    03.03.15 - 3.3 km
    05.03.15 - 4.8 km
    08.03.15 - 14.2 km
    10.03.15 - 3.6 km
    13.03.15 - 4.4 km
    14.03.15 - 4.2 km
    15.03.15 - 11.0 km
    58.6 km done (of 100km)

I did a mile and a half today. I normally run first thing in the morning and ran at 4:30 today. When I got to the trail there were about 10 caes there. I dont like people to see me run because I am so slow and worry more about looking stupid than running. I started to pull away and put it off until tomorrow. But, I made myself just do it. I just concentrated on keeping a doable pace and breathing and my music. It was a tough run doing it at the end of the day. I am so glad I did it! 11 weeks until Hawaii!!!!

Work got in the way today... very busy. I wasn't able to get out early when I wanted to so it was already hot when I headed out and I had to be on a conference call the last 2 miles of my run today so walked some of it.

I haven't had a chance to go through the 2+ pages of posts since last night (wow!) but I will go back and read them after work.

Did anyone run the LA Marathon? I would love to hear how you managed in the heat. It was 90 in San Diego so had to be super hot in LA!

Jiminy Christmas, I can't keep up with this thread! Everybody is kicking some serious butt this month.
I hiked 2.4 miles up the other side of Superstition Mountain today. It was a bit of a struggle, since I carried my three year old nephew all the way up.

I won't include that mileage in my numbers for the month, but I will include this awesome picture of ostrich racing...

    3/14 = rest
    3/15 = 6.41 miles
    3/16 = 2.03 miles

    Total = 43.9

Over halfway! Yesterday was supposed to be an 8.5 miler, but I ran after dinner and was so sick to my stomach that I had to stop. Stupid stupid. So I made up the difference today. I will go for 9 miles on Saturday. Lately I have been trying to run in the evenings because it's been SO NICE, but it really doesn't work out for me.

Thanks for all the advice about my friend! I don't know why she tends to give up. I KNOW she CAN do it... I feel like running is just such a mental thing, and she gives up sometimes when we've barely gotten started. But I'm like... you ran 8 miles last weekend! And now you can't do 5? Oh well.

Keep it up everyone... and awesome job on all the races this weekend!
