How the arm rests in my truck used to be too low, now they are too high. I think the "cushion" I am sitting on has gotten quite a bit smaller.15

How new people that come into your life can have such a profound impact on you and your journey. For me it is the folks that are helping me with nutrition and fitness counseling as well as new friends that I have met at the gym or other athletic endeavors. The support from some of these folks has been overwhelming. Also the support from family and friends. Yes some are jealous but whatever on them.8

That my clothes are getting baggy and that makes me think I've stretched them out. It's actually because I've lost 19 lbs (so far) though. And that some days I can still look in the mirror and see myself how I used to be.16

People's reactions will be strange. When I say I have lost 50 pounds their response is always...how did you do that? When I answer exercise and eating less they say...when do you find time for that? Answer...6 to 8 every day before work. Then they say...I could never do that! Never? Really? I don't get it.9

Yea WW worked for me in the beginning to really in an easy way show me how bad I was eating and kind of re train your brain the correct portions you should be eating. I stopped weight watchers and now I'm on track with a gym regiment and meal prep plan. It's become a lifestyle so I use the term plan loosely. Yes, I did WW several times in the past. The only time I got to goal (and Lifetime) was back in mid-2006. I was down about 40 pounds ... 230 pounds (highest ever ) down to 190. I kept if off successfully for 3.5 years by paying attention to what I was eating + swimming.
The 'trigger' that caused me to gain weight in early 2010, was living out of a hotel for 5 months, working 10-12 hour days, 6 days a week, nearest grocery store was 10 miles away. Lots of stress eating, no exercise.
From 2010-mid 2014, I stayed in the 205-220 pound range.
In mid-2014 I got back in the gym and the pounds started slowly coming off. I was getting stronger and fitter, but 'the needle' wasn't moving very fast.
A few days into 2015 I completely changed my diet "for a month". After all, I can do anything for just 23 days, right? No sodas, no diet sodas, no processed sugar, no flour, no milk/cheese, no restaurant food. No cheating (at all!) for 23 days. Slightly stricter than most paleo plans. The pounds just melted off ... and I feel so much better.
I relaxed a little bit when my weight hit a new adult low of 188 ... some cheat days, etc.
My advice to anyone would be to put it all together:
- use WW meetings for accountability, unbiased measuring of weight loss, and tips,
- focus on eating "real food" (e.g., some version of paleo),
- exercise (both cardio and weights),
- MFP for longer term weight tracking, better nutrient tracking, and forums like this one,
- and, of course, come up with some personalized non-food rewards need to help you stay motivated!10 -

I lost approximately 40 pounds on WW about 12 years ago, but slowly put it back on, plus another 20, over those 12 years. I used the online site at the time and counted points. I also used the WW's cookbooks to put together good meals, which I highly recommend. Compared to points, I like counting calories on MFP better. Just makes more sense to me to watch your nutrients as well as your calories. I have tried a couple of apps, including WW, for losing weight, and by far MFP is the best.5 -

That if you've been on meds (any meds, for any condition), weight loss can change the dose you'll need, or in some cases even change your ability to tolerate certain ones. And that while you're trying to find the new balance, it can get really overwhelming.16

+ You realize you don't need to go into the handicap stall in the bathroom any more to feel like you have enough room. Strange things like that.
This one is so me now! I've also had several people start asking me when I'm going shopping for new clothes.. the old ones are getting pretty baggy... that feels so good!
An unfun thing.... now I hate my upper arms... they are so floppy... I never noticed them when they were just huge.. but down 25 pounds and now I notice them. I'm 58 and am hoping I'm not so old that the skin isn't elastic enough to tighten up.4 -
+ That it can be an emotional roller-coaster. Some days you are happy with yourself and other days you get upset because you ate too much or you don't look right or you haven't lost any weight this week, etc. Learn to ride the roller-coaster and don't get off.
+ That it won't magically fix all your problems. In fact, some of my "problems" have come more in focus because of the time and energy I have spent on myself and not "others."

I was already over confident... Heck I am down right narcissistic. I think it is actually making me more filthy and kinky than I was.16

I feel like this too, it greatly annoys me when people dismiss how much work goes into being healthy.7 -
No longer have puffy swollen fingers during the summer, I hate that feeling being able to sit and cross my legs at the knees I know its not the healthiest way to sit but its nice to actually be able to now that the fat is gone.12

That getting older doesn't automatically mean you're condemned to putting on weight & being unfit ! At 48, I'm now a lean, mean, fitting machine instead of a pudgy, lazy, couch potato21

I freaked out when I first noticed my collar bones in a picture. I have never really seen them before!
