Eat healthily but don't deprive yourself of your favorite foods! If you like ice cream, get frozen yogurt or sorbet instead. Same with peanut butter and all of your favorite baked goods  You can easily swap out your favorite higher calorie foods for just as delicious lower calorie ones!

SW: ~ 215 (been around this weight since I was 16, I'm nothing if but consistent!)
    CW: ~ 205
GW: 180 then re-evaluate. Taking this in baby steps. I got down to 190 two years ago, and I was thrilled.

Im just focused on eating well rounded meals, watching my portions (using a food scale to learn what an actual portion is!!) Drinking water and trying to exercise at least 20-40min a day.

Have been losing steadily ever since I started and am very happy with my progress so far!

Family doctor yelled at me on February 25th because I had gotten to 244lbs. I'm 37 and 5'11 and just ate what I wanted. I've only been on this app for about 7 days and wish I had found it at the start. Really not sure what I want to get down to weight wise. Guessing around 175. I'm currently 232. My wife is an excellent cook so she basically tells me what to eat and I do. I hike between 4-6 miles a day and work out with Dumbbells. Being big got old.

    I'm almost 58 and I am 5'6"

Started with MFP on 1/30/12 at 161.5, had a problem that stopped me
Started again 11/17/14 at 154 but...
    Didn't use MFP until 1/30/15 at 150
    Currently 127
    Goal 115

My tip: Just keep using a scale (food scale). I prefer using it by gram, that is the only way to really keep track.

I'm 5'9 my goal weight is 130 pounds. I'm doing 2 slim fast shakes a day and 1 lean cuisine frozen meal for dinner. Any tips? :-)

Eat real food. Is that how you want to live the rest of your life?

BEST advice, real whole foods in smaller portions.

    SW: my heaviest? 138
    CW: 119
GW: not to dip below 117
    Height: 5'5.5"

I run about 100mi/month, so I'm lifting more to build more muscle and focus on high quality calories. I aim for processed sugars being less than 1000cals/week and less than 700 cals coming from alcoholic drinks. This leaves more room for proper nutrition for muscle growth. I'm getting pretty good at staying well below both goals now.

Though I am toned more than I thought being that at 130 I wore a size 10P and now I am wearing 2P/4P. My goal weight is more mental than anything - I just don't want to be in the 150 range.

    I am 5'8" and 30 years old.
    Heaviest weight was 213.
    Current weight is 175.
Goal weight is 160, although I am shocked after reading this thread that most 5'8" women have a goal of 125-145?!
Wow, I might be way off.

@Beploveshomer‌ That depends on a lot of factors... frame size, how much lean body mass you have, and other factors. At 5'7 my goal is 129.9 and I have a very small frame (and not a ton of muscle, yet)

Goal weight is something under 170. There were only two times after reaching full height that I was under 165 pounds, and that was a) after years of being overworked and underfed at home (living on a farm + abusive stepfather = best calorie deficit ever, guys!), until I went to college and gained some weight, and b) after 6 months of regular psychostimulant use.

I'm totally fine with being around 170 or a little less.

My biggest tip would be to stay consistent. I maintained my weight through all of 2014 by 2 weeks logging / followed by 2 weeks of eating and drinking and making merry, rinse and repeat. I've lost 25 lbs since January 1 by maintaining consistency, and not making every minor accomplishment a reason to lose sight of my goals.

Why are you eating as low as 1200? Set your goal to lose .5lb/week. That is more manageable now and for maintenance purposes.
