mynyddisamrs - (Jackie) - great paintings and ceramics. Is this your professional job? Really good.
Does anyone use a spiraliser? I'm half thinking of getting one, but worry that it's just another gadget that will clutter up the kitchen and I'll soon tire of. I already have a julienne peeler that I have used once.

Quick answer to Teri about paper/plastic for kitchen remodeling....when I was remodeling my kitchen (it took 8 weeks), before they gutted the kitchen I set up a table in my family room with the microwave and coffee pot. Used as much disposable as possible, I just couldn't fathom washing dishes in the tub!

Hi from Montana0

Sylvia - the apartment sounds like the perfect place for your son's family. Great news about your son getting the apartment for less!
MMMargaret - such beautiful pictures of flowers! thank you for the hope of spring.
Pip - I like your idea of putting coconut oil on the tips of my hair. I am going to try that. Funny picture of you screaming
Carey - thanks for the info on setting goals. I will use that for next month.
Katla - I am glad that you feel good enough to go to the gym. It means that you are getting back to normal.
Jackie with - I went on your Facebook page and checked out your art. Very nice. I can't wait to see the plants that you paint coming up between the rocks.
Heather - very interesting about calorie burn. I know men have 10% more muscle mass then women and muscle burns more calories than fat, so it makes sense. So unfair though!
Terri in Milwaukee - good idea to plan your snacks for the baseball day trips. It sounds like you are going to have a good workout buddy with your new coworker!
Ethel - I am glad that you are here! I use my phone so I book mark it by pressing on the star on the right until it turns yellow.
Yanniejannie - sorry I forgot to mention spitting it into the trash! Also to do it on an empty stomach. I have an exciting new observation, my tongue is back to being as pink and fresh as a babies and so is my DH'S! This was only my 5th day and his 4th. We are sold on the benefits of doing it. We are also getting used to it and it is very easy to do now.
Tina in MD - thanks for the article. I read them and will be aware of possible side effects, especially dizziness.
Did anyone have a crush on Davy Jones from the Monkeys? I have had a very busy day walking my grand fur baby! You ladies with dogs must get a lot of steps in!
Basketball tournament tomorrow so I will have to try to catch up tomorrow night! Have a great night everyone!

Heather ... the family got me a Veggetti or spiralizer for Christmas. I've used it to make the zoodles Gina on Skinnytaste makes ... and I really like them! I thought it was going to be a pain to use, but it really is simple and works as advertised!
A little over two years ago we gutted my kitchen. Disposables are a must! Microwave and coffeepot were on a folding table. I had a canning stove in the basement and used a large tub set in the laundry tub to do cooking dishes. It was awful. But I still love my new kitchen!
Had a Subway sub today ... first time in a year as we're letting son eat what he wants now that food triggers have been eliminated as cause of his migraines. It tasted ok, but the agony I experienced afterwards (bloat/gas) from either the lunchmeat or the raw peppers and cucumbers was not worth it.
Finally feeling better and getting a little hungry but going to make it a light day.
My older son ... physically disabled ...lives independently. He rents a room (not a state run home) from an organization that makes housing available to physically disabled individuals who can live self-directed lives. He lives in a lovely ranch style home with three other individuals and they each hire their own care aides to assist them.. Up until tonight, they shared kitchen duties for dinner ... just simpler to have one person/aide cooking in the kitchen as opposed to four! Now they've decided to each do their own thing ... so my son called and asked if I would help him plan his meals with things that will freeze well so he's not eating leftovers five days in a row. Wouldn't mind some suggestions!

I flagged princess, in case that makes a difference.
Here is a picture of some of the masks that the kids made at the party. The colors should be more vivid once they are glazed and fired.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding.
Good Evening Ladies,
Yannie, I am going to go on the cruise with my friend that has cancer. We are both very excited and spent much of the morning talking and making plans. She is one of those friends that you may not talk to for years, but when you do, it’s like you have been together every day. I’m really looking forward to having quality time to catch up.
Lillian, I know you had to enjoy that massage. That is one of my favorite things in life.
Sylvia, the new apartment for your son sounds terrific. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Wow, at the good news. Still keeping fingers crossed. XXXXX
Mary, that is interesting information on the coconut oil, but not sure I could make myself try it.
Pip, you are lucky to have healthy hair that you don’t need to do anything special to. Mine is very dry so I’m always fighting that.
Carey, good reflecting on goals. Just keep it up.
Katla, glad you are feeling well enough to go to the gym. I know you are ready.
Jackie, I love your art. You are very talented, but I guess you know that. I have a hard time drawing a stick figure.
Heather, definitely “not” too much chatting. I enjoyed your post and found the information on burning calories fascinating. Just one question, what does “nipping” translate to in English? LOL
*Looking around* did you see something big and fuzzy in here? I wonder how long he had been lurking in the hall?
Terri, Way to go, being a good influence on your co-worker. I do think that’s a good idea to pack your snacks the night before the early morning games. I don’t know how you keep up? Really happy that the lunch break sent so fast. Must be nice exercising with a buddy. I think paper plates are in order unless you want to have to wash dishes in the bathroom?
*Looking around* did you hear someone screaming? Oh, it’s Pip. I think her boss was driving her crazy but I’ll bet she feels better now.
Ethel, welcome. If you just come to this group of ladies every day, you don’t really need friends. This is a very supportive group.
Tina, I was curious about the oil pulling thing too, so thanks for the information. It cleared up a lot for me.
Sylvia, love the jokes. And I’m sorry your Prince didn’t come rescue you when you were young.
Beth, don’t you have a song or something for all the snow? You know like, “snow, snow, go away…don’t come back another day”> Bless your heart!
Heather, I had to look up a spiraliser to see what it was. It does look interesting but anything that looks like it is tedious to clean, stays out of my kitchen. I have simply run out of space to store such items, so unless it’s something that I will use at least weekly, I try to resist. If you get one, please let us know how you like it.
Orchid4mom, welcome. If you come to this forum often you will get lots of support as well as interesting tips and information. I personally rarely chat with my friends because the ones that I care about are in here and we talk almost daily. Come often and join in the chat.
Jen, welcome to you also. Some of us lose weight slowly but to not lose in two years tells me you might not be doing something right. How many calories do you eat a day? Are your meals balanced? Do you weigh and measure your food? Do you log everything that goes in your mouth? Do you exercise? These are some of the things to look at first. If your diary were open to view, I’m sure some of these smart ladies could give suggestions on how to start that loss. This is a good place for encouragement, support and ideas. Good luck.
Montanaflake, Hi and welcome if you are new and planning to return. Please tell us a little about yourself so we can get to know you. Come often and join right in.
Beth, does your son have an aide or someone to help cook? If he’s not on a low calorie diet, I’d probably do casseroles and one pot meals that can be divided and frozen. He could then add a veggie and or salad. I can’t imagine four people at once, in the kitchen at once trying to prepare their food? It would be nice if they still shared a meal 2 or 3 days a week, but who knows why they decided to change. Good luck.
Pip, I'll bet that wind made for more of a workout. Did you burn more calories?
Welcome to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Well, I spent much of my morning talking with my friend about the cruise and then booking it. I have to admit that I feel a little guilty about taking two cruises in a year when DH doesn’t take a vacation. There is just nowhere that he wants to go. We used to go to a beach location before we moved to the beach. Neither of us enjoys flying any longer since it has become such a hassle and the seats are so close that it is uncomfortable. He is the one that came up with the idea of going on a cruise with my friend…so I’ll suck it up and do it. She will fly in here and spend a day visiting with both of us, then we will go to Charleston for a day of sightseeing. It has been on her bucket list for some time. We’ll spend the night there and get on the cruise the next day. This is just a 5 day cruise and goes to my least favorite ports, but the time together is what I’m looking forward to. Now I guess I’m going to have to finish straightening out the guest room.
Have a, happy and healthy night and day ladies.
Since we have so many new ladies, I’ll repeat a quote:
Do Not reward yourself with food.
You’re not a dog.
My word #1 is savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
#2 is opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.

The day b4 yesterday 52min, I did 483 cal, and my highest hr was he was 163bpm
Today I burned 473 funny 10 calories less and my highest hr was 154bpm0 -
Read everything since last posts but no notes. Thanks for comments about my ant problem. Those ant traps you can buy in the stores, especially the ones with borax, my daughter has used them with wonderful results but the ants over on my side of town just walks over them and keep walking. The all purpose cleaner kills them, plus keeping clean counter tops. Just don't know how they get it.
I agree on the disposables for kitchen got jobs.Would be nice to get some pretty ones to make up for the mess in the kitchen.
Sylvia, I sure hope your son gets that apartment. It would be better for so many reasons for his whole family. And it would take some tension off of you to knowing he is in a healthier environment.
The post here that is obviously spam, do you all think management needs to be alerted?
It is cccccold here, Had to bring out my winter coat out today. Thought it was gone for the year. Nighty nite, Joyce, Indiana0 -
Did 50 minutes of Denise Austin's Boot Camp DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Jari Love's Ripped to the Core DVD.
Janet - the Green Room is the local community theater. I do hope you get to spend time with your friend.
Rori - absolutely love reading all about your adventures. Please don't stop
Went to volunteer at the Green Room. First took some apple pie to Lynette that I made. This is still a work in progress. After the Green Room went to pick up the dress I wore tonight to the Murder Mystery dinner, then home since Vince had bought a baseball cap and needed to return it for a larger size but one lady was going to come over here to drop off some membership dues money (the fiscal year ends the end of March) for Newcomers so someone needed to be home. He needed to get to the store to return the hat asap since he then needed to paint the team's letters on it. Why he waited until today to do this, I have no idea. He also made his shirt. What he did was he bought a t-shirt, then he had a piece of computer paper that you can print on and then iron the image onto a shirt, so he did that.
Went to the Murder Mystery dinner. Had a piece of bread with butter. You know something, I haven't had bread and butter in so long that it really didn't taste all that good. Know that I went over on calories today. Had a piece of baked chicken breast, a bit of baked ziti (that didn't taste all that good either, I haven't had it in so long), asparagus, salad (no dressing), and 2 pieces of chocolate cake. Only had water/tea to drink. Then had a chocolate bar when I got home. I was surprised to find out that basically only 2 people were hosting the dinners. I thought for sure they had more people doing it. So many people say "oh, I can't host a social, we don't have room for a lot of people". Well, this is only about 8 people. Yet the gal whose house we went to tonight is also doing it tomorrow and someone else is doing it Sunday. That's IT. That I was surprised to find out about
terri - happy birthday to your dh
Ethel - welcome! Comment on whatever you feel you'd like to. Just jump right in.
Sylvia - everything crossed for your son. What does it mean when you say that you flagged princess? Guess I'm really out of the loop
Beth - one food that doesn't freeze well are potatoes. Another is spaghetti squash. Most things can be frozen, but not those. Make a roast and freeze that in individual portions. I also freeze chicken and fish and pork chops, then just add a vege/potato
I'm going to be making lamb for Easter. First time I ever made it. Then I'll make these keylime cupcakes for dessert. Anyone have any suggestions for veges?

Welcome everyone new!

Carey in Edmonton – that is a very good quote from Donny Osmond.
Heather in the UK – now how do you make rhubarb vodka? Every old farm yard here in Saskatchewan has a rhubarb plant or two…
I did enjoy the massage.... came home and DH decided he was going ice fishing...so I went to the city by myself - got the paint for basement. Went to the spring trade show and decided I wasted my money.... DDIL and DGS came along... so it was fun - went for supper and then home..
Now I need to head off to bed ...

Sylvia, I've got everything crossed for your son getting the apartment
Beth, I freeze things like meat loaf, chili, pasta's, you can even freeze frittatas for a period of time. I get a lot of recipes from www.budgetbytes.com There are a lot of suggestions on recipes as to how to thaw items and how long they will last in the freezer.
Lillian, glad you got a massage.. I can't wait for my next one.
Have a good evening

Made it to page 45. I can't seem to keep up to date.
Yes, DH did show up for counseling. Now we have to do the questionnaire and then for individual appointments. After that we have one that is the 2 of us with the counsellor.
Took the DGC to Cora's today. They were funny, witty and smart today. But then look who their Grandma is.
DB came for a visit today. Always good to see him;
A good friend called tonight. It was so good to hear from her.
Gilly- Thanks for the reminder that it is all experience.
Janet- Thanks for the hugs.DH had a change of heart and came for counselling.
Cynthia - It's so nice that your Mom sent a surprise package, always the best kind.
Sylvia - Crossing my fingers and my toes that your son gets a bigger apartment.
Good feelings to all
Sharon in Alberta0 -
Amazing how many of us need to lose the weight we have gained on our journey to our fifties!
Mary - Yes I agree, Davy Jones was lovely just not quite as nice as David Cassidy!
Hope Kratos is not a 'God of War' lol.
Sylvia - Kids were so clever, the masks look great. Your son has been very lucky with his new flat hasn't he. Sure he deserves it.
Janet - Cruise sounds a lot of fun. It's so nice to have that sort of friend and reminds me that I must try again to find my BFF who I lost touch with about 15 years ago - all those moves mean so much gets thrown away without thought.
Jane - Aren't grandkids wonderful!
Lilian - Spring trade show must have been good if you had fun. Expect there was a lot of walking involved?
Sharon - Wow - so happy for you that DH decided to attend with you, must be a good feeling that he does care!
Michelle - Did you enjoy Murder Mystery Dinner? Partner and I have often thought of going to one but are never quite sure how much involvement we would have to put in as neither of us is very outgoing.
Katla - I hope you are on the mend, any illness is horrid.
Gail - I think the show with Clarence the cross eyed lion was Daktari.
Rori - Please - more stories of Hollywood, Universal Studios and Lamb Chop etc, brightens up these gloomy, wet and windy mornings so much :-)
I have managed another half mile of swimming but the walking is getting more and more difficult. A couple of hundred yeards from the bus stop to home is enough at the moment. At least I cannot stuff food into my mouth while going up and down the lanes but boy am I hungry when I get home! It is such a struggle to keep within the limits but I have found if I just have my meal and then go to bed a bit earlier it seems to help.
Prayers and hugs to all
Gilly, Suffolk UK0 -
morning sweet friends,
hope all is well. had another night of great sleep, that is 3 in a row...
work was busy and now have the weekend off... we will be busy here doing stuff..next weekend the bathroom will be getting done, and then it will probably be another couple of months before the kitchen gets done.. and DH told me they wont be moving the fridge and range, well I will just let him see for himself...
have a load of laundry in and ,in a bit will go see the DFIL , then to Lowes to return the kitchen sink and drain as the contractor will be getting an undermount sink for us,then to the credit union then home, and I have more laundry to do, and some stuff to straighten out ..0 -
Lillian - I'm glad that you enjoyed your massage!
Sharon - I am so happy that your DH went to counseling with you! That was a huge step towards making your marriage successful. (((Hugs)))
Gilly - funny! I'm glad that you are able to get out and walk! That is a very good start. You have made a change and are following through, that is great!
Allison - yea! Three nights in a row! That is awesome, how did you do it? I haven't been able to sleep like that for at least 6 years. It does sound like you are going to be very busy.
Good morning everyone! I am off to the tournament. Everyone have a great day!

Mary - I think the fact that the guy probably weighed twice as much as her was the main factor in the calorie burn. He was fit though! :blushing:
Put our new duvet cover on the bed last night. Grey trees on a white background - very nice. But the patterned cushions don't look as good on it. It'll do though.
I will try to explore the website that prints the books today. At least register and look at what to do. I'm not a good "finisher". Find small details tedious and anxiety making and just want to wave a magic wand. I hope DH will hold my hand a bit. Pressing that final button will be scary!
With regard to self published books - there is a woman called Melanie Wade who self publishes low calorie cook books. She has just brought out a new low fat soup book and it is FREE this weekend on Kindle. It's not particularly original, but good as a mind jogger if you've run out of inspiration. Research has shown that soup, especially blended soup, keeps you fuller for longer.
Sharon - glad you have both taken that first step. :flowerforyou:
Bye for now folks! Heather in Hampshire UK

Beth...I have found that crockpot meals freeze well. I cook for myself most of the time so I'll fire up the crockpot, have a couple of meals that week and freeze the rest in individual containers. I love turkey chili.
