Caramel - I am so sorry to hear you have been so stressed out. I can only imagine how it feels to be living there right now, it is gut wrenching to see it on TV. I hope things improve soon:) Stay safe and stay strong. Remember we are the people we are today due to the things we have been through in life. My path has not always been the smoothest but I would not change a thing. It makes me the person I am today and I can empathize and understand people because I have been through many tribulations and trials. My prayers are with you and your city.

That Baltimore sitch is CRAY-CRAY, caramel! Stay sane! I hope you are pleased with the decision for charging the 6 x officers involved. What a nightmare!!!

Lifting heavy helps me move stress to the back-burner, but it does NOT zap it completely! I am struggling with many headaches right now. Blech.

Anyway, I did lift heavy, today and then this afternoon I walked for an hour. I hope to do a 2-hour walk tomorrow.

My weight bumped up 1 lb this week....after last week's HUGE loss, I am kind of not surprised. I ate at 2 x restaurants this week, so likely salt/water retention is the issue (not fat gain....)

    I have 3 weeks left to lose 3 lbs....THAT I CAN DO.

    BOOM!

why should anyone be pleased that the prosecutor in Baltimore in her public statements has already convicted public safety officers? Cops have a tough job, especially in the inner city with folks who don't respect authority. That community was so concerned about justice they looted a pharmacy and dragged as guy out of his store, beat him up and looted his store. The preacher at the guy's funeral ought to be in jail for inciting a riot. And our president decides to help by sending attorneys when he should have stayed home.

    Good Evening Cool Kids.

Beeps, I should be the last guy to tell anyone about eating enough, but the headaches might be your body saying, "feed me."

Ruby, well said. I've done a lot of bonehead things over the years, but that was all part of getting to where I am today. Anyway, there is no way to change it now.

Caramel, I'm still thinking of you. Do whatever you have to to keep your stress in check. Hopefully things will start to get back to normal soon.

Allen, enjoy the derby. Congratulation on the big loss.

CG, the garden will soon be bigger. By the time I get my peppers and tomatoes all planted, I will be out of space. With peas, beans and cucumbers you want to plant a new patch every four to five weeks. So I will be tilling up more of the yard. I truck farmed for years. And I grew to hate it. Any extra food I grow will be gave away. Taking money for a hobby quickly turns it into a job.

KS, sleep is very important. I know when I have late nights at work followed by early mornings, I run into a brick wall by late afternoon.

3furballs, 16 kilos is heavy. You are rocking the KB's.

    Jackie, good loss.

I had planned on getting off work around lunchtime and getting lots of work done at home. That didn't work out as planned. I kind of, sort of, but not really, skipped lunch again. I did have a rib. I had to go by Mamma's to program her new Dish remote. She is not kicking too high today. Did get 16 orange trees into pots and most of the garden watered. {I turned on the soaker hoses while we ate supper} Then had to get Margie's new laptop going.

The future Larro Ranchero Orange Orchard

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I will have worked 6 of the 7 days this week by the time Sunday rolls around. I would rather work than not, but it does limit the amount of stuff I can get done around here.

    Larro

    The numbers for the week:

    20.7% Body Fat
    23.8 BMI
    170.3 Pounds

The good news is that I gained almost a pound since yesterday. The bad news is that I'm down 1.3 pounds for the week.

And now the obligatory Bad Word picture. She really does have a drinking problem.

Headaches for sure are a direct result of no food.

I can tough out headaches for a few weeks for a winning waistline.

Busy Saturday morning for me already. Kali and I went for a 30 minute run this morning and stopped at the vet to see how she is doing with her weight. Kali has lost 3lbs in a month. Woot! Woot! An hour after being home from that Kali wanted to go for another walk, good thing I got my breakfast eaten, we just got home did 40 minutes. That's 10,002 steps on the old pedometer already. Already commuted to going for a power walk with a neighbour and her dog but that will be after dinner. I feel a nap coming. Kali is already starting to snooze on the floor.

Keep up the great work on everything everyone! We are only as strong, brave, healthy, companionate, loyal and loving not only to ourselves but all other of the living and breathing life forms on this planet as we allow ourselves to be.

    Happy Weekend, Cool Kids!

Larro, I am so jealous of your ability to actually garden! I plant a great mental one, though.

Beeps, I tried a 5 day healthy menu this week that included eating 5 times a week, lots of food too, very clean. And to my surprise lost inches all over my body and close to 3lbs in 5 days!!! Please eat!!!!

Funny/cute story: I had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound yesterday because I found a lump in my breast while on vacation. It turned out to be benign!!! Funny is that while the two doctors (military male docs) were doing the ultrasound they kept pointing out how strong my pectoral muscles were. LOL He was showing the minor and major he said they hardly get to see that his own words "wow, you are strong!!!! You must work out, keep up the good work!" I always thought my upper body was wimpy. Hee hee

Who's watching the fight? Today is my brother's bday so we are celebrating and watching the fight at his place.

    Hugs!!'

    Lol, alf, i am eating!

Lucky you that you get to eat all that food and still lose weight. For me, the "eat more to weigh less" is a bunch of baloney.

I need less calories to lose bodyfat. I am pretty close. Three lbs to lose in May. Four lbs to lose in June.

Okay, Take 2! The web ate most of my earlier post.

Jackie, That's a lot of dog walk. I can do one walk, but then I just take my two furbabes to the dog park to romp with their friends. Way to go!

Curious, I feel the pie temptation from here. You can do it! Moderation and health, here we come.

AllenPriest, I wore my Kentucky Horse Park tshirt as the closest Derby appropriate wear I had. Beautiful day for a race.

3FurBalls, Wow that seems heavy. If it's not too stupid, what's the benefit of kettles over traditional weights/cardio?

I'm down another 1.5 lbs, but it's almost entirely due to an unplanned food allergy incident. Dang it. I was able to do a bit of core work again today, though. Yay!

Thanks Alisha! I slept like a log last night and so did Kali. Used to take her to the dog park but they closed the one we went to and I've heard only bad things about the other ones in town. So she gets to meet as many new dog buddies on our walks as possible. Way to go on your loss...sorry to hear about the unexpected food allergy incident! I can relate.

I recorded the Kentucky Derby to watch because it was on while walking, now I won't miss anything.

Did a 30 minute run this morning rather than a 45, my g/friend went. She's not as far along in her running program so I let her set the pace. Have to make that up later.

Rest day for me too, though my rest day has included over an hour of gardening, various household chores and a hike soon. It has also included mint M&Ms, it's probably a good thing they don't sell those in Canada.

Beeps, I only suggested you eat more because you are suffering from headaches and irritability. One size doesn't fit all, I know people lose and gain in different ways. Somehow the variations of foods worked for me those 5 days because I've tried different methods and some work or don't at various times. Rock on!!!!

I did a simple but still challenging lower body exercise. I'm a little sore from my workout yesterday at the park with my son and granddaughter. I only used my body weight using the playground equipment! Different, fun and effective.

    How is your weekend going??

So, halfway through practising some karate Kata this Saturday, I remembered that I plan on running in a mud-run this July.

    Of course, I haven't run in ... forever (I'm thinking...1986 or so).

Decided to start slowly, build myself up to the 7km distance. First 2 brief runs this weekend felt good - I guess all the other work I've been doing these past 5 years have paid off.

Hi all, I'm Dawn in Seattle. I'm starting to track my food so I can lose 10 pounds in time for a friend's wedding in Colorado at the end of June. I'm 50 and I love to cook and exercise.

Happy Monday! I had a productive weekend. I spent the day working in my yard on Saturday and raked up most of the leaves in my front yard. Great workout for sure!! Yesterday I went exploring my country neighborhood and walked almost 4 miles! It was such a great weekend, nice sunny days and not humid! My kind of weather! Hubby is doing pretty good. Still looking into getting some therapy at home and I have someone coming to the house today to give me an estimate on my shower renovation.

Caramel- I thought of you on my walk yesterday. I saw two beaver, three deer and a dozen, at least, horses.- Seems quite a few people around where I live have horses. I love to see them, but too much work for me to take care of!

I put my gazelle elliptical out on my back deck yesterday and I worked out at home today when I got up. It was nice to be able to be outside. I don't mind being at the gym, but love being outdoors when I can be.

    Have a great day all!

This is for you Caramel and everyone else who was excited for me. Missy has already increased my activity level a whole lot. I was up at 5:30a to take her for a long walk in hopes the house will still be standing when I get home. She is bigger and stronger than I was expecting but a completely awesome dog. I couldn't have asked for more. Although shoes, stuffed animals, crayons, the remote, etc. are all in serious danger at the moment.
    Have a great day all.

Alright....I totally have to go lift today. And, I am not wanting to....so, today is a "talk myself into it", day.

Here is how I talk myself into it:

    1. I still bring all my work-out clothes to the office. I can stare at them all day long, if I want.
    2. I have to go to the gym. I tell myself I need only spend "20 minutes" there....but it is non-negotiable that I have to go.
    3. When I get to the gym, I tell myself "you only need to do 2 sets of each exercise"....this isn't true, as I am supposed to do 3, but I give myself PERMISSION to only do 2 sets.
    4. When I get onto the first exercise, I talk myself into doing 3 sets of it. And I do that for each subsequent exercise.
    5. By the end, I have spent 50-60 minutes in the gym, and I give myself PERMISSION to stay 10 more minutes for a nice stretch.

BOOM! Lifting done and I have talked myself through it. The "talking through it" expends energy....the "after glow" is ALWAYS worth that extra effort to get it done.

    Happy Monday Cool Kids!

Alf, I'm curious about your 5 day menu. Can you share? Funny story about the mamo. You must be so proud of yourself!
Furballs, yes, your rest day sounds like mine! No "formal" exercise, but plenty of activity. Perfect!
Beeps - your commitment is amazing. Are the headaches fading yet?
GG - going strong with insanity!
Jackie, sounds like a fun weekend with Kali. You're lucky to have each other! "Woot woot" & "Woof woof"
Alisha, cool about the loss, but not so much the way you got it. Feeling better? I had just a tiny sliver of the pie I made -- knew it was organic & low sugar. Thanks for the encouragement. I did pretty good considering there was peanut butter pie there and I didn't touch it!
    Nicely said Ruby.
Larro, your baby trees are adorable... are those the contraband oranges?
KS, I just love hearing how everything is coming together for you and your hubby. Your weather sounds divine too!
Beeps, great job on the personal pep talk!
Nick, Missy does look strong! And happy! You won't really need that remote any more since you'll be out walking the dog.
    Welcome Dawn.
Webbeyes - cool about starting up running again! It's great that it's feeling good after all this time. Which race will you run?

I was able to kayak both days this weekend. Saturday took some co-workers out on the bay. Everyone had fun, and nobody fell in, so totally successful! Sunday was 'regular' kayaking in the ocean - always fun. I've started this week with a structured menu - includes lots of apples! Making a serious push to cut down these last 15 stubborn lbs.

Just got an email from a paddling friend who got a shot just as I was catching a wave off of "Smack Wall". It's a spot on a headland that catches the deep water swell with a big "smack" and sends back a rebound wave that can be surfed if conditions are just right.
