I feel guilty for not running this morning, but I do want to feel better. So I opted to rest. I have to figure out how to get my long run in tommorow since my wife has a 5K in the morning. I am thinking of doing some core and hip exercises today too.

    July 01 - 6.3 miles
    July 02 - 3.3 miles
    July 03 - REST
    July 04 - 6.4 miles (10K + 0.2 warmup)

    July 09 - Core work

    July Goal: 90 miles
    Miles so far: 30.4
    Miles left: 59.6

I finally started to do some core exercises last night. My lower back had been hurting on longer runs so I took that as a sign I need to start doing some core work.

I had intended on getting up this morning to run 7 miles, but I was up past midnight last night and just felt too tired when my alarm went off this morning. I guess I get to run after sundown tonight.

Went to training last night and my trainer said no running until next week to allow my knee sufficient time to really heal. It doesn't hurt anymore but I am going to be cautious and do as advised. I am going to hit the gym today and tomorrow to get some cardio in on the bike. I can't just sit and do nothing, it is making me crazy!

For anyone looking for new shoes or gear Active.come is having a semi-annual sale. Looks like most of the women's shoes were around $50 more or less but they are limited in sizes.

7/1 - 1.75mi Today was going to be a rest day because my quads are tight and sore but I did it. It was slow and I went on a sandy path instead of pavement to see if it helped and I do feel a little better.
7/3 - 3.1mi Did my usual hilly path thru the park. Waited until evening to go but it was nice. Completed the first of 2 virtual 5k's. Now I have the rest of the month to improve my time LOL.
7/6. - 1.6mi Went for a birthday run with my son, which, While I love spending time with him I hate running with him because i am to much slower than him and he always wants to walk LOL.
7/7. - 3.1 mi Got up at 4:30am to get a run in before work and make up for yesterday. Think I will skip yoga today, I am sure I will pay for it later this week.
7/10 - 1.85mi Couldn't get my butt out of bed this morning and I paid for it. Very humid, slow run on a hilly trail. I knew I couldn't do the 3 miles I had planned so I worked on powering uphill and maintaining the faster pace after the downhills on the hilly trail I picked.

11.4 done and 18.6 to go.

Waited too late in the day so it was hot and difficult. A very slow 4.4.

    5k today...

All walking so far. Had hernia surgery June 22, and the doc wants me to wait another week before I start back to running. BTW, 57 miles walking post surgery.

8.2 miles for today. Some of the trail is flooded knee deep again, which I appreciate, and there are still some major obstacles to climb from all of the storms we've had recently. My longest run to date. Puts me at 34.3/80 for July.yp9m22znx31u.jpg

Yet another trail run today. Next run is going to be flatter and softer, it's time for a bit of a break.

@melaniefave41 So you get your strength training in lifting trees out of your way? Smart!

I hadn't noticed the fallen trees. I was too busy marveling at all the clean board lines she laid down on the trail so far. Can't wait to see the completed work!

    7/1 = 5 miles
    7/2 = 6 miles @ 6 weeks postpartum!
7/3 = weight training in the morning, 4 miles stroller walk
7/4 = Rest day, holiday dinner with the family and a very cranky baby. Add a dog terrified by the fireworks, shaking, panting and salivating on my bed, and you get the whole picture of my 4th of July night. Breath in…Breath out…
7/5 = 4 miles run, hot and humid, but I needed it for my sanity; 3 miles walk with the baby.
7/6 = 3 miles. Super hot, humid, yucky but an outside run it was!
7/7 = 2 miles around the block. Very tired today.
    7/8 = 6 miles
7/9 = Rest day, very much needed!
    7/10 = 5 miles

...I found that Brooks is currently having a Summer Clearance Sale and I bought another pair of Glycerin 12's for $98!
Interesting. I just did the exact same thing after reading that!

Aw bummer! I just spent my last stashed $200 on registering for a HM. I need another pair of the cadence trail shoes.

Ouch $200 is that one of those "rock and roll" races. I signed Skip and I both up for a HM for less than half of that.

Ya. $55 for the HM and $30 for the 5k for my husband and I. Plus the 27$ transaction fee. Was just under 200.

@elise4270 Aside from Disney ($180 for the last one I looked at), some higher demand R&R races (vegas @ $130 - but I've done the 3-packs for $200 saving a bit), it is definitely rare to find a HM for over $100. $200 for two registrations (including both HM and 5k) definitely makes sense though.

Put in 6 easy miles with a friend today. Not sure what I'll do tomorrow, but I'm planning to do a long run Sunday with friends. Definitely looking to front-load my running this month, as I'm returning to the muggy Florida heat on Monday. Doing a hard-reset on my forerunner at the moment as it stopped being able to upload runs this evening. If that doesn't work, I'll use it as an excuse to grab the new 225 as the extra features seem pretty killer (reliable built-in HR, wireless bluetooth syncing via cell phone, cadence tracking, and can manage heart rate based workouts for intervals/speedwork/etc..).

    7/1 - 6 miles
    7/2 - 6 miles (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-mile-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 1:45 pace)
    7/3 - 5 miles w. strides
    7/5 - 13 miles
    7/6 - 6.5 miles
    7/7 - 7 miles w. strides
    7/9 - 6 miles (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-mile-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 1:43 pace)
    7/10 - 6 miles

Total: 49.5 miles, 2 speedwork session
Goal: 140 miles, 5 speedwork sessions
Remaining: 90.5 miles, 3 speedwork sessions

I had my run broken up when my daughter told me she wanted to come along. 4.7 miles with her (only 3.4 for her, as she stopped after two laps around the pond), took her home, drank some water, then another 1.3 miles around the neighborhood with my dog. I had intended to run 7 but the heat just took too much out of me.

Not much running tomorrow, I'll be sailing if the weather cooperates!

Here's another hot shoe deal, IF you're a Nordstrom cardholder.

When I was trying on shoes for the first time, it was a very close decision between the Glycerin 12 and the Asics Gel Nimbus 17. I just ordered a new pair of Glycerin and wanted to see if the Nimbus 17 had come down from the normal $150 yet.

Long story short, I discovered that Nordstrom is having their Anniversary sale soon and if you're a cardholder, you can get a "sneak peak". This is where I found the Gel Nimbus 17, normally $150, for just $99.90! I'm not a cardholder but my wife is so I had her order a pair for me.

They have other brands and models available, but most of the prices are hidden until you login and I wasn't going to have my wife bother with checking other models. If you're a Nordstrom cardholder, it's worth checking out.

    July Goals:
    13 runs. (5)
    67km (25km)
    10 minute intervals (7.30min)
    6km long run. (5km)
    5km under 40min (40.52m)

    2 July.......5km.........5.30min int......42.53m
    4 July.......5km.........6min int...........43.23m
    6 July.......5km.........6.30min int......43.31m
    8 July.......5km.........7min int...........40.52m
    11 July.....5km.........7.30min int......41.52m

Morning run, went out 30min late so the sun was bearing down on me and I hadn't drank enough water beforehand. So felt really terrible, heavy legged. I now have 2 days of grumbling/negativity to myself.

I've done 57 miles so far - was aiming for 200 but that seems unlikely now. Going long today though so that should help! I need to get myself one of those ticker things!!

@WhatMeRunning I laid the boards down as a trap, they get very slippery when wet. I go out and check them after it rains. And now you know how I found my last five boyfriends.

@mwyvr What is strength training? I jump that *kitten*. And by jump I mean climb. While swatting at mosquitoes.

@shanaber I'm always curious to know what other runners wear when not running. I've been wearing mostly Sanuks and flip flops.

Terrific running so far and nice goal for the month @autumnblade75 ! What are you training for and when?

Hope you are feeling great for the 5k today and the other miles you would like to get in @Stoshew71. Many blessings to your wife and to you too @skippygirlsmom .

Praying for your knee to recover quickly @shanaber That's terrific running and climbing you do @melaniefave41 I'm always amazed at you and others here who trail run. It's a totally different beast than road running. KIU!!! One day soon, I will run on our country dirt/gravel roads (and post a photo) and then ya'all can tell me if that constitutes as trail running ;)

    7 miles today.
