Another NSV...yesterday Mr. NY and I were hanging out at my house...I was wearing yoga pants...he said "babe, that *kitten* though"...lol. Yay for squats!!! (And yoga pants!)

Awesome NSV! How long have you've been lifting now?

Only about 2 months...I'm definitely having the beginner's gains...I'll be sad when that stops....

Edited to say that I had been working out with kettlebells and doing squats about 2 months before that...but I've been able to increase my squat and deadlift weight pretty rapidly (yay for beginner's gains again...)

Nice. What are your maxes at? I've done a little bit of strength training, but not really following a program yet.

Mostly I do five sets of Overhead Press at 10 pounds, Squats with either ten pounds or just the bar, & Deadlifts I tried around 60 pounds the other day. The only exercise I cannot do at the moment is bench.

I overhead press at 50, squat at 95, deadlift at 125...I suck at bench...I can do the bar and that's it. Hoping to start increasing it soon.

Morning all. Having a bit of an NSV i think. Very few of my clothes actually fit me at the moment. they are too big and bag and sag around the waist/hips. So while i might not be losing lbs so much, things are definitely changing.

    Definitely a NSV!

I'm a bit nervous, excited, anxious today. Tomorrow morning is the 20 week anomaly scan. I've no reason to be worried - it's a standard scan for everyone - but I am a little bit on edge. Although I'm also really looking forward to seeing the bubs. It wouldn't sit still at the 12 week scan and really made the sonographer work!

Good luck with the scan!! I know how hard those can be from both sides! I hope your sonographer is patient and skilled.

First day of kinder was a success for little girl. She was so tired she passed out before 6pm. I had a bad evening. I planned to work out, but got home and no one had taken my poor dog out earlier in the day, so I came home to a nasty mess to clean up. I confess after cleaning that up and mopping the floor, I was in no mood to do much of anything. So I didn't.

@orangesmartie it sounds like you are recomping well there. Changing your shape, but not the weight. Great job!

I weigh more than my mom (not by very much), but last night we were both in the bathroom when I looked in the mirror and she looked bigger than me, which is a first in my whole life. Deep down I actually loved feeling thinner than her.

99 degrees in Dallas. At least it doesn't feel too humid. Run tonight will be fun! I also forgot the black camisole to wear under my shirt so have to make the driver stop at a store to buy something. My shirt for tomorrow has a plunging neckline. Unless I want my coworkers to see my bra tomorrow need to stop!!!
Be thankful you didn't have to come around July or August! I checked the Houston subreddit for specifics, and it was 104 degrees only 13 days ago.

Ick. Isn't it August? Or did I lose a month?
 I'm so over the weather, I skipped this week!

Now that's funny!!! Can I skip this week too... jury duty on Wednesday.
Aww, good luck with that! I've only been called once, but our presiding judge allowed everyone to come in a few hours later than other courts, 9 or 10, and all cases that day were settled out of court.

Congratulations on your victories @orangesmartie and @saraherren

Yuck to the dog mess. I don't really blame you for not feeling up to anything afterward. I'm glad your daughter had a good first day of kindergarten!

My niece did something so hilarious today that made me think of this thread.

My youngest niece came over to her mom today & asked for Chocolate Milk. My sister went over & got the milk & the powder & my niece threw the hugest fit. What did she want? She just wanted the powder in the glass & then threw herself on the floor & had a huge fit. Needless to say she didn't get her own way.

I was happy that today I fit in Chipotle (steak burritos yum) & a whole pint of frozen yogurt.

    Ha! That's awesome!!
And I LOVE Chipotle!! I haven't had it in well over a year though! Not sure why...we just never think to go there when we get food. That should change soon!! Awesome job fitting that AND frozen yogurt!! Winnnn!!!!!!

I love Chipotle too. Mmmmm mmmmmm.

Chipotle is a huge reason I got fat buuuut I still eat it! Just not in such large quantities anymore! Haha <3

We don't have that in Canada, is it Mexican food?
Yup! You can pick a protein, beans, rice, and so on to make tacos, a burrito, or a bowl.
@spacequiztime and @kellyjellybellyjelly I'm even excited for the trip to Red Lobster. He's at 288 right now so I have a bit of time.

I told my sister, the one with diabetes, about MFP and she hasn't been keeping up with it. Thankfully with the summer though, she has lost some weight and her doctor has noted some improvement in her kidney function. I would LOVE for her to get in on the group but we'll have to see. I know she would probably have a field day with the super great recipes thread! She's an excellent cook.

You really have to keep on top of that. Does she try and keep her blood sugar level, or is she more lackadaisy about it? Kidney function is affected so easy, I have a friend dealing with that now. Thankfully (luckily), even with one kidney, my function has been fine thus far, but it is scary and I get it checked four times a year. Has she been diabetic long?
My dad has been diagnosed as diabetic maybe around a year ago, and my mom was recently diagnosed as prediabetic. Neither of them have been really staying on top of anything and it just worries me...

It is so hard for people that get it later in life to change life long bad habits. You have to kind of gently push them to do something good - 'hey, let's go for a walk after dinner' - because if you go harsh it will make them tune it out. Make sure they get regular medical check ups, so if something does not look right, it is caught early enough to do something about it.
Thank you for this. My mom has gotten into the habit of going for a walk at the park closest to their house on her days off. It will take her time, but I do think she'll be able to manage herself well. She had some dental issues a few years ago and has been very careful to listen to her medical advice. My dad however... He reminds me of the husband from this thread. It takes a lot of careful maneuvering to offer suggestions without setting him off.

And a very happy birthday to @jthurman3

I hope everything goes well with the scan @spamarie

So, the internet went out on campus, so my accounting professor had to dismiss us early. We may or may not be behind already.

I'm really hoping my math teacher was just having an off day, because she was all over the place today! Completely random, and really scattered around. We'll see on Thursday I guess lol!

I haven't even gotten around to card shopping so I can write out birthday cards in advance! (Glinda has kindly offered to send them out for me if I send them to her in bulk so I can join in! :)) Jenni, would you mind getting your birthday card a month late or so? :D

My office is right beside a Hallmark store so getting cards is the easy part for me. Getting them to the post office on time with the correct postage will be the challenge!! (as well as getting them out on time)

Besides Jenni the rest are in October so you have some time. Mail to England for me takes a couple weeks so just keep that in mind.

Driving being illegal for women combined with the fact that my husband is currently very busy getting everything ready for classes and such (he just started the fall semester in his Masters program) means that I've been stuck at home for a while, so cards haven't happened yet. ;) Postage won't be too hard, since I get to send them all in one go. :)

i'm suddenly stupid busy at work and never get to go on here anymore. :(

just wanted to let you guys know how much i appreciate everyone's support. <3

and in my endless quest to keep on keepin on....

    *post date update*

    First date #10

i had previously posted about this creeper, but had a moment of embarrassment and shame so i deleted it. so here's the abridged version. met dude at a local bar, had fun, but totally not my type and i already knew there would be no second date, but i'm still all about being able to have a good time. and it was fun, just talking about random junk and whatnot...end of the evening rolls around i say goodnight to the dude and go home.

it's not until i pull into my driveway that i realize that he followed me home. he was not invited. i was super freaked out and he wouldn't leave. i should stood up for myself and told him to gtfo, but i didn't. such a strange situation. so i let things happen that i really had no interest in, in order to deescalate a potentially worse situation.

    yes, he's been blocked.

    First date #11

dude shows up in a grungy three stooges tshirt. really? really?? smh
he was nice, kinda awkward and i had to basically hold up the entire conversation. he looked like his pictures, but kinda not like them as well? strange. but i'm still nice and try to have a good time. after a while the bar becomes swarmed with college kids. yeah not my scene. so i'm thinking well let's just call it a night, but then he suggests we go somewhere else. yeeeeeaaaaah, ok, suuuuuure. so we go over to one of my fav local places and i ran into one of my friends. my friend who also needed a ride home. so i take dude back to his motorcycle and because my friend was there, he totally wrecked it for any type of goodbye hug or kiss or anything for the dude. total c-block. i felt bad, but it still kinda makes me giggle. sorry dude.

    First date #12

yesterday. this was originally supposed to be on sunday, but i hadn't heard from the dude and thought i was getting the blow off. ok, no biggie. turns out he thought i wasn't interested, yay confusion! so we rescheduled for yesterday. ok, go to a local place, and the dude is nice. literally looks nothing like his pics though. why do ppl do this? do ppl not realize that they look different with age? ok, so regardless, didn't look bad, just wasn't the person i was expecting to see, still alright though. ok, basic chit chat, what do you do etc. but didn't really get into much conversation because literally after two beverages dude's like ok, i'm gonna get going. umm...alright then! maybe the second shortest date i've ever had? but then i get home and i have a text from him telling me what a nice time he had and would really like to see me again. huh? ok?? then we text for a bit and he tells me how he was so nervous and usually likes to start off with just like a simple short meeting to get a feel for people etc. i can understand that.

i'm still kinda on the fence about a second date. prior to the first one, a few red flags popped up with things he said. like overly affectionate without ever meeting me stuff. but like, A LOT of it. soooo....i'm not sure.

well, i'm still trying to catch up, i miss you guys!!

and welcome back @LBuehrle8!!! glad you had a great time!! :)
