I'm doing my final snowbird trip north (Pittsburgh) this weekend, where I'll run with my Sunday AM crew, but definitely glad it is getting cooler here I have a ton of long runs & speedwork on my running plan for the next 2.5 months leading up to the Disney marathon in January, and I'd like to ramp up my weekly mileage to 60/week by December.

Are you doing the Disney World Marathon on 10 January? I am doing that as my first marathon and scared stiff!! Mmmm I have NEVER run more than 40miles / week! How many marathons have you done?

Yesterday's race went better than I had hoped! My best 10km time so far had been 1:19 and I only decided right before the run that I wanted to try and come in around the 1:15 mark.

The people were amazing!! Just like you said they would be! We had our own acrobatic performance - this one section in the run where groups were dancing/cheering and doing flips for all the runners - even a few hi-5's here and there!

I had one girl who I would pass and then she would pass me so we were playing tag the whole 10k. We were at the 9k mark when she stopped. I stopped and walked for a little with her, told her we were on the last km and got her going again. I didn't even care if she came in before me - I was going to finish! I even heard my 3 year old yelling out "Come on Mummy" a few meters from the finish! Best feeling!!!!!!

The cheering was amazing coming up to the finish line! People everywhere clapping and yelling. I crossed the line at 1:06! Taking 13 minutes off my PB!

Congrats on that excellent time!! And you certainly experienced AND demonstrated the brotherhood of runners!! AWESOME!!!

Pushed my run from morning to afternoon because I just did not feel like putting on running clothes this morning. I'm glad I waited though because the weather this afternoon was perfect, and I decided to go on the canal trail so the sun was shining through the trees and it was really beautiful -- too bad I didn't take my phone to snap a few pictures for you all! Had 5 miles on the schedule, but tacked on a bit more distance because I was cruising at marathon pace (8:00-8:10) and feeling really strong.

I'm calling an extra rest day here as well. It was raining this morning and I just didn't feel it mentally this morning. I don't normally skip a run, but this morning I really felt like I needed it.

Root canal? I do not envy you. I hope you heal up soon. Enjoy your rest day.

@stoshew71 and @karllundy thanks. Pain meds are being my friend today. @stoshew71 it was really coming down this morning.

    10/10 rest day
10/11 12miles on the bike with the hubby. Been over a year since I have gotten on my road bike. Not counting these easy miles for my total. Time for some football.
10/12 a few miles on the bike running errands.
    10/13 3.52 (24.22)
    10/15 3.78 (28)
I'll be out of town until late Sunday. I might find some time to run, but not going to kill myself trying. Back at it on Monday. Have a great weekend to you all and run run run. :p
10/19 5.98 (34) - far too many beer calories consumed this weekend. I felt it today.

10/23 3.08 (42.37) procrastination put me out the door mid-morning and 77F. I over heat quickly, such an uncomfortable run today. But it always feels good in the end.
    10/24 rest day
10/25 3.03 (45.4) Dionysus 5K this morning. Improved 2 mins in 36 days. Bone Marrow Transplant can't stop me. Next 5K in 27 days.
    10/26 4.76 (50.16) walking the gran-puppy.

Looks like next month I need to challenge myself a little more on the miles.

No Run Today - White stuff Falling Out of the Sky. Catching up on some posts - just had to comment.
I missed my time goal, unfortunately. I decided to wait in the bathroom line before the start, ---. I lost a lot of time in my first two miles trying to find some room and dodging around people. I just wasn't able to make the time up over the rest of the race. It's a big confidence boost going into The Parks 10K next Sunday. That's a smaller race (about 2,000 I think) so my chances of getting my PR then is pretty good!
LOL - Bathroom Line Delay - Better than the option of diving into the trees and coming back out with only 1 sock. She calls 2000 people a " smaller race " I thought my 300+ was a big crowded affair, can't even imagine 1000.
@dharwood68 Amazing and impressive - great positive attitude.
@skippygirlsmom Root Canal take the whole week as a well deserved rest if you can call it that - pain meds.
    aarar wrote: »
13km yesterday and 12km today for a monthly total of 219km/250km. Only 31km to go.
Killing it on Total Km's, makes my 100+ look pretty weak. It would be hard to justify the 4.5 hr drive North just to do a run in the Peace River Hills - now a Rum is another thing entirely. If you were ever to come this way ( next Summer ) You just have to be at Tim's before 9:00 am on Sunday and ask the Group if they would run the North West Hills - Railroad loop, Misery Mtn loop, East Hills - If you ask for a 4 Hills run be warned as that is a real serious body breaker or FB and leave a question asking about the Tangent Park Hills. Grande Prairie has a great event in Sept - Roots and Ruts race. We keep hope to put together a Trail Race but just don't really have a big enough club/volunteer base. Seeing your 10 km PR is an inspiration/motivation for me as mine is 1:00:28 so not far off yours.
@MamaMollyT If you can poach some Round trip Seats on a Military/Navy Transport I think we could get a big MFP running gang over the pond to you.

@tdbernrd - I too talk too much about running and my races. It is a good thing several of our friends are also runners, who pulled me into running races, so they don't mind :) So glad you weren't seriously hurt on your fall!
@Somebody_Loved - Congrats on your 1st race and PR! Awesome job!!
@kareF - Congratulations on your race too! I am so glad everyone was so supportive and it is great that you helped another runner!
@5BeautifulDays - Wow!!! Fantastic race for you too!
@smithie092015 - Great job on your race, even if you didn't make your time cut! You will get that PR at the next one hopefully without the bathroom line delay :)
@HonuNui - love the Halloween Costume!

At 19km everything started to hurt. A lot. But then, as if it was destined, "Break on Through" by the Doors came on my playlist. I'm pretty sure I shouted "yes" and punched the air. What a nutter...
^^^I love this! :) Glad you stuck with it and got done what you had visualized! Great job! Even if you are walking like a cowboy now and eating everything in sight!
@dharwood68 - I think it is amazing that you are able to run after a bone marrow transplant just a few months ago! Congratulations on your race and time - you are an inspiration to all of us who doubt whether we can just get out there for a run!
@juliet3455 - most of the races I have run have upwards of 10-20,000 runners. I have 2 coming up that are 'smaller'. One capped at 5000 and the other at 2000. I think it just depends on where you are.
@skippygirlsmom - take care and don't try to run until those pain meds are out of your system!!

Not a great run today. My legs were tired and my stomach was upset. I was again thankful for the bathrooms at each end of my trail! The next few days into next week it is supposed to cool off again! Yay!! I really want cool, fall weather! @juliet3455 - can't believe you are getting snow already and we are still at 90F - I know you are bit further north, but still...

really good run this morning, leg much better and very strong mentally, just a bit tired toward the end but that's ok

I improved my pace from last week 5:46 to 5:29 min/km, still slower than my standard 510-515, but an improvement, so hopefully I'm recovering fully.

But I'm more happy about my feelings, it has been a while since I was not enjoying a run like today from the beginning to the end. I had a boost of positive energy and now I feel really good, even if I'm in jail till 5pm, let's say they are serving pizza today in prison after a while...

I was really really hungry and I composed an "ode to the roast chicken" while running  , better if I keep it for myself or you'll think I'm crazy  you know, brain must be kept busy while running

I met 5 people, and they were all smoking, I got intoxicated, I'm really too sensitive now to engine/cigarette smells.

I decided to give up 10 minutes of sleep, considering I'm slower than normal, and wake up earlier, and that decision paid off as I could do everything without rushing, so prob will keep doing that

city run, so lots of foxes as usual today, and quite clear towards the end of the run

tomorrow HM in the woods, hope it won't be too dark - I took my lamp with me this morning and that was another good decision, as there were lots of dark areas and the light helped me in staying awake (I slept less than 4 hours)

on the negative, I was so stupid that I tried to cut my mobile SIM to fit into a new phone - don't do it, unless you want to not have a working phone the day after

I forgot I had to take my son to an Explorer post meeting so did that after work and was so hungry afterwards I ate instead of running.

Trying to figure out how I should finish my taper this week. I think I'll do 5 miles tonight after trap shooting, 4 tomorrow and 3 miles Friday ahead of Saturday's race.. Tonight will be a tempo run, tomorrow I'll do some intervals of some sort (likely at my HM pace) and Fri will be sloooooowww.

I think my biggest challenge this week will be getting adequate sleep.

@patrikc333 - "Ode to Roast Chicken"! I've enjoyed that song myself. Was it followed by "Canticle of Mashed Potatoes and Gravy" by any chance?
@dharwood68 - Dionysus? Was there wine at the end?
@shanaber - Wow...that's a lot of people! My biggest run of each year is the IMT Des Moines Half. Total people with half/full runners is about 8000. Most others are in hundreds.

10/1 - 3.1 miles on the 'mill; plus 5.8 miles / 20 minutes on stationary bike.
10/2 - Had to skip run/workout for a life insurance physical (bloodwork, etc.). Then, they couldn't get me to bleed, so I'm gonna have to do it again! Grrr!
10/3 - 11.5 miles with HM group; cool, beautiful weather!
    10/4 - waaaayy overslept!
10/5 - not off to a good start this month; kids up half the night with illness / asthma issues
    10/6 - 4.75 miles on a beautiful, cool morning.
10/7 - 4.85 miles of hills with HM group
    10/8 - 4.65 miles
10/9 - 0. Up half the night, again! Now feeling a bit under the weather. It's too early for this stuff, isn't it?
10/10 - 7.92 miles with HM group. Cool morning, flat loop...nice run!
10/11 - 3.15 mile "recovery" run. Slower pace with one of my 9 year olds...love getting to run with my kids! Sore hip though.
10/12 - 4.75 miles. Beautiful weather! Hip better, but not perfect. Fired up for 5k and HM this weekend!
10/13 - 0. Had my repeat life insurance physical, which went fine. Then spent the whole day waiting at home for Des Moines Water Works to turn water back on. Some sort of miscommunication between dispatch and the technician...UGH!!
10/14 - 5.16 relaxing, lovely miles with HM group as we "taper" for this weekend. Got pulled over on the way to meet them at 4:45 a.m. Just a warning...woo hoo!
10/15 - 4.25 miles on treadmill at Trek class. Took it a little slower and flatter than usual.
    10/16 - rest day before weekend race(s)
10/17 - 2.96 miles @ IMT 5k Road Race - someone shortened the course! Oops!
10/18 - 13.1 miles @ IMT Des Moines Half Marathon (1:48:41). New PR! Went out a little fast, but mostly had a great run on a beautiful day!
10/19 - extended stretching with HM group. Relaxing.
10/20 - 4 miles on indoor track with weights/strength work following.
10/21 - 4.75 miles around my 'hood. For October, it was hot...beautiful!
10/22 - 4.25 miles on treadmill at Trek class
    10/23 - unplanned rest day...just didn't feel like going.
10/24 - 5 miles around my neighborhood...felt good, nice pace
    10/25 - normal rest day
10/26 - 5.1 miles. Wish I didn't have to stop to get ready for work. Felt like I could have run forever.
10/27 - 4 miles on indoor track with weights/ab work following. Glad I was inside...REALLY windy here today.
